While the whole zombie craze may seem stupid at first, I love it. I do not think anything in recent times has done more to make firearms more mainstream and unstigmatized with the 20-30somethings. I spend a good bit of time working with IT types and while a conversation on what would be the best round/gun to take down “Bambi” or “Babe” will result in nasty looks and comments and being ostracized, a conversation about the best round/gun for a zombie outbreak results in the majority emphatically joining in the conversation. Many of the same people that 2 or 3 years ago would not social talk to me since I own guns are the ones now who are always talking to me about guns and wanting to go to the range together. Also when you compare the “mob mentality” found in riots to “zombie outbreak” they are not that different. It is planing for the worse case situation just under a different name.

Yup. I’ve found the exact same thing to be true. Not only for firearms, but for preparedness and self reliance as a whole.
I dont know why but the bright greem is pleasing to my eye, im sure alot of people will say boo about this, but its better then the usual blah colors for gear
Zombies movies are cool, books about zombies are cool, talking to geek friends about zombies is fun. It seems logical that zombie themed firearms and accesseries would also be cool but for some reason they just aren’t.

I think this zombie fad jumped the shark last year at Halloween, when a company released the PC game expansion pack “RailWorks 3: Trains vs. Zombies”. I love trains, but that was a bit too much.
For my money, I think the zombie fad jumped the shark when Hornady brought out their “Zombie Max” line of defensive ammunition.
Was in the KC Cabela’s over the weekend; they had an entire display case devoted to Z-Max.

I wanted to try some Critical Defense and found the zombie version for 3 bucks less. Never had a laser but sooner or later, when the fad stuff goes on sale, maybe I’ll pick one up cheap for my LC9. Nothing a black magic marker won’t fix. Mostly, I figure when it comes to pistols, the more obscure the better.

Also for defensive situations against armed assailants he or she could use it in reduced light situations to track back to you, so use it wisely.

Is it impolite that the whole Zombie thing with respect to firearms is merely a coded reference to r either (a) the day the peasants / OWS types decide to ditch the drum circles and pick up pitchforks or (b) the starving masses resulting from an epic natural disaster? It’s too gauche to discuss it in stark terms, so we all just joke about zombies instead.
