In a move that continues a growing trend among law enforcement agencies, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office in Washington State has officially adopted the Shadow Systems DR920 as its new standard-issue sidearm.
Following a thorough evaluation process, Kitsap County deputies will now carry the full-size DR920, citing its exceptional reliability, controllability, and ergonomics as standout features.
The adoption underscores Shadow Systems’ continued push into the law enforcement market, offering a duty-grade pistol that blends Glock-compatible familiarity with upgraded performance.
“We are honored to support the brave men and women of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office with a duty pistol they can rely on,” said Brandon Roper, CRO of Shadow Systems. “Our mission has always been to provide superior firearms tailored for professionals who face life-threatening situations every day.”
Designed for Duty, Built for Speed
The Shadow Systems DR920 isn’t your run-of-the-mill duty gun. Engineered with direct input from law enforcement and military professionals, the DR920 was built to outperform legacy sidearms—without forcing departments to overhaul existing support gear.
The pistol is compatible with G17 holsters, magazines, and accessories, easing the transition for officers already familiar with Glock platforms.
So what’s different?
Key Features of the DR920:
- Customizable Ergonomics: Interchangeable backstraps allow shooters to dial in their natural point of aim.
- Enhanced Recoil Control: An extended beavertail and undercut trigger guard promote a high grip and fast follow-up shots.
- Textured Frame: Aggressive, wrap-around grip texture offers a secure hold without punishing the hand during long shifts.
- Duty-Ready Slide: Directional serrations—front, rear, and sometimes top—allow confident manipulation under stress.
- Match-Grade Barrel: Spiral-fluted, conventionally rifled, and available threaded or unthreaded.
- Optics-Ready: The optic cut accepts most major red dot sights directly—no adapter plates needed.
- Trigger Upgrade: A flat-faced, drop-safe aluminum trigger breaks cleanly at 4.5–5.0 pounds with a short reset.
Trusted by More Agencies Across the U.S.
With Kitsap County joining the ranks, Shadow Systems continues to carve out a name for itself as a legitimate alternative to more established duty gun manufacturers.
Law enforcement agencies have begun to recognize the value of a high-performance, American-made pistol that works seamlessly with existing duty gear.
And while the DR920 is purpose-built for professionals, it’s also increasingly popular among competitive shooters and concealed carriers who want a full-size pistol with upgraded features out of the box.

So what kind of pistol does the Mustard county cops get?
I would relish knowing that also.
These puns make me sick enough to go to the Mayo clinic
Good to hear- another GLOCK perfected.
As Washington state goes commie no gat company should do business with any entity.🙄
The wrong Californian immigrants.
Kitsap County, as well as almost all counties east of the Cascades are as conservative as Idaho and Montana.
Yeah, the problems tend to concentrate on the west coast…
So?
Good point. I remember when I lived in Colorado not so long ago and most of the state was conservative. Doesn’t really matter I suppose.
It’s not really about the State/County level being Conservative or not.
When a state is “behind the lines” the entire state can be considered fair game for a divide and conquer strategy which is what FWW is advocating for here. The fact that Conservative counties exist is immaterial.
You want to split LE off from the rest of .gov so that Lefty mayors, Legislators and even City Council members have a shitstorm on their hands.
Cutting off LE from any and all weapons, parts or accessories is a good way to do that.
We’re in a position to turn the screws. If we don’t, it’s only because we don’t have the stones to act. If that’s the case, we deserve to lose (and, eventually, we will).
So, buy a Glock 17 clone and pay double for it. Way to go, the taxpayers of Kitsap County applaud you.
I switched from a Glock43X MOS to a Shadow Systems CR920 as my EDC. The difference between the two are significant enough to warrant the additional cost. I have no regrets buying a SS CR920.

If I triple posted to Deb its because I never know if my post posted so to make sure I have to back out hit the comment button and if it says looks like blah blah I know it posted.
Tried twice 3rd time worked.
Nice that they picked something well under the $1000 price point and backwards compatible to their existing mods. A department that GAFs about a budget is rare and appreciated.
I would echo water walker on this subject though, gun companies should turn the screws on anti-gun states, hard. The political leanings of the county don’t much matter. If part of the state is behind enemy lines then the entire state is a legit target for business warfare until the whole state is liberated. Everyone matters or no one matters.
And yes, I want that to apply to my local sheriff and the five-cop operation down the road in town too. Yeah, they’re generally pretty awesome, and my county which has been actively trying to leave Colorado for 20 years due to the state being too Leftist for the vast majority of the Weld County peoples’ liking. So what?
“We’re not part of Colorado! We don’t like Denver!” is a cop out and a pile of bullshit. Of course we’re part of Colorado. So, slay the ability of DPD and other major departments to get any parts or new firearms and watch the gun control laws drop like leaves in Fall when the departments cease backing them.
The simple fact is that the laws get passed because the Legislature sees them as socially acceptable and believes that enough LE will enforce them to give the laws teeth.
Let’s flip that script. Total embargo. I want this to the point that a grabber-state’s cops can’t get a bottle of CLP until the laws change. Let’s see how many police chiefs testify in support of gun control after that.
And make sure to tighten the screws even harder on those departments with protection details for pols and judges.
BuT sOmEtHinG cOuLd HaPpEn! That’s kinda the point. Respect the people or… well, take your chances. This is the same general playbook as their Covid playbook against the unjabbed, but this one isn’t quite a vicious.
Of course, it will never happen. Companies need that sweet, sweet cash too much to pass up contracts like this and the 2A community doesn’t have the organization or the balls to boycott gun companies to make it happen either.
Have you tried telling them history confirms any type of gun control is rooted in racism and genocide or are you just another little wee wee gun talking blow bag pencil dick?
I’ve never been sure why it would seem like a good idea to tell a bunch of avowed racists who are bent on, at least democide, that gun control is rooted in racism and mass death.
Encouraging them seems like a bad idea.
LOL

“An extended beavertail and undercut trigger guard promote a high grip and fast follow-up shots …”
Ever notice the term “follow-up shots” did not exist before cops starting using 9mm firearms?? Why is that??
Hail of gunfire from Tommy guns and BAR machine guns was more interesting?
Ever notice the term “follow-up shots” did not exist before cops starting using 9mm firearms?? Why is that??
This has nothing to do with 9mm. It’s because it’s not until recently that cops started using .mil terminology and tactics. It’s the “militarization of the police” that has brought this terminology, not the choice of ammo or firearm.
You see the same thing with EMS using TCCC standards instead of the old DOT standards.
The TCCC standards originate in the Vietnam War but are not adopted by EMS until the GWOT. Prior to that all First Aid and EMS standards were those developed by the DOT before EMS existed. This can be seen most clearly and simply in the move from A.B.C. to M.A.R.C.H., with the former being developed at a time when there was no ambulance system so people with serious hemorrhage were dead before anyone could get to them, therefore it wasn’t addressed. This was part and parcel of development of the Interstate Highway System.
TCCC standards OTOH, assume you have people nearby to render rapid aid because you’re part of a combat unit instead of basically being on your own during a car crash. This allows for things like massive hemorrhage to be taken into account and increases the survivability of many wounds and injuries.
DOD has used such terminology, in reference to “follow ups” since the M14 was the standard issue rifle. One of the main reasons DOD had to to move to 5.56 was that 7.62 had too much recoil for most people to rapidly put follow-ups on target and such shots were required even with a “battle rifle caliber” the vast majority of the time.
As I’ve pointed out before, DOD has done work on this going back to the early 1900’s and determined that, effectively, there is no man-portable firearm that has “stopping power” because true “stopping power” requires a projectile 3″ in diameter or larger. Until that threshold is reached, the expectation is 4:1 wounded to killed with many wounded still capable of fighting on some level and therefore requiring a follow up shot or two or three or more.
Which, by the by, is why high speed SF going back a long time has preferred to shoot people several times in the chest when attempting to move rapidly. At speed with both parties moving, CNS shots can’t be reliably placed, but five or six in the chest generally puts people down for the count.
