One more reason for campus carry

Momentum continues to grow across America to recognize the right of legal gun carriers to pack heat while on college campuses. We all know how “campus carry” upsets a lot of gun haters. However, years ago those same radicals promised us blood in the streets if average Americans were “allowed” to carry concealed firearms on a daily basis. Of course, the only blood in the streets has pretty much all belonged to the criminals.

College students have always faced threats from violent perps both on campus and in surrounding neighborhoods. Naive college kids, especially when intoxicated, make easy marks. Now, though, even scholars (and some faculty) face new, potentially deadly threats…not from opportunistic street criminals, though. Instead, they’re facing the risk of attack from increasingly violent students.

Today, radicals at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington demand an end to the campus’s police force. In its place, they want student-led policing by groups like the one pictured above. Can you spell vigilantism?

These liberal fascist bullies aren’t waiting for the college to act on their demands. They’ve seized the day on their own. They have already used violence to silence those with whom they disagree.

Via Heat Street:

Bat-Wielding Mob of Left-Wing Students Are ‘Community Policing’ Evergreen College

Evergreen State College erupted in protest two weeks ago when a biology professor Bret Weinstein spoke out against a social justice event that coerced white students and faculty to leave campus.

Since then, the Olympia, Washington, campus has devolved into chaos, while the school administration cowers and capitulates to student mob rule.

Things are getting so bad that the school is having issues with a group of bat-wielding vigilantes seeking to “community police” the campus. The school was shut down Monday because of acts of vandalism and window smashing the previous night.

I’ll be the first to admit that I generally avoid stupid places, stupid people and stupid things. However, a college campus would be the last place most folks would expect to run into a mob of bat-wielding hooligans. Times are a-changing, though.

All fifty states have how have (at least some form of) concealed carry and over half have some provision for campus carry.

By carrying bats in groups and intimidating innocent people, these self-appointed social justice guardians at Evergreen State College flirt with both Karma and Darwin. It’s only a matter of time before these vigilante squad members suffer a sudden and profound error in their victim selection process. Only then will they learn the folly of bringing a baseball bat to a gunfight.

    • That gentleman(?) with the fingerless gloves should be careful. He(?) could cut his finger on that gusset plate.

        • You’ve got a better chance if it’s a he.

Personally I could probably take on the girl from the video; (Although she looked better as a blonde.)

        • The redhead in the center might not be so bad after like 3/4ths of a fifth of Ezra Brooks or Old Crow and one of Chef’s bags-o-pleasure.

  1. ‘I’ll be the first to admit that I generally avoid stupid places, stupid people and stupid things. However, a college campus would be the last place most folks would expect to run into a mob of bat-wielding hooligans.’

I don’t know about ‘bat-wielding hooligans’ but a college campus is probably the first place I’d go to look for stupid people anymore.

  2. The so-called “Anti-Fas” (who are the ones who actually *are* Fascist) are determined to shut down freedom of expression.

It’s universities now, but it will spread in America when the perpetually-triggered ‘special snowflakes’ leave the nest of college.

Just wait until they show up in human resource departments in corporate America.

Even worse, wait until they start showing up in the state and national houses of congress, passing ‘hate crime’ legislation…

    • Huey long once said “When Fascism comes to America, it will be called anti-Fascism” He also said “Sure I carry a gun. Sometimes I carry four. Can’t tell when somebody’s going to shoot the King.”

Interestingly, he was a hard core socialist. He was also assassinated.

      • “Huey long once said “When Fascism comes to America, it will be called anti-Fascism””

        You’re spot-on.

Check out this tid-bit from the Heat Street article:

“One of the demands made by protesters is to abolish the campus police and replace it with student-led community policing. This kind of bat-wielding vigilantism is the warped extension of this idea.”

…and the ‘Brown Shirts’ enter stage left.

Remember Obama’s quote on the campaign trail in ’08?

“We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

        • “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

This is endlessly funny to me, of course Barry would call for something like this, something already outlined in the constitution, something called a militia, what part was it in again, oh right the second amendment.

Just continues to make me wonder if he’s ever read the document that he took two oaths to uphold

        • Good call, Geoff.

I came here to make that comment and you beat me to it.

        • You mean like the Spanish civil war?

          Or eastern europe during WWII?

It’s a cute phrase, but the facts don’t really hold up.

When fascists and socialists fight, it means the underlying economics are so fucked, everyone is losing, and going to lose more before the discussion is over.

        • More hypothetical, really. If the commies and the fascists are busy cutting each others’ throats they’ll be too busy to notice the capitalists becoming stronger. This did in fact occur during WWII but the fact is that we sided with the communists so they survived the great battle for Europe and became our next great enemy. We then sided with the Mujahideen against the commies and they became our next great enemy.

  3. It is so hard to take these ” people” seriously. At a anti whatever riot in Portland last week a masked dressed in black anti- fascist person was selling ice cream.

  4. When I look at that picture my take away is they’re a carnival freak show who thinks they have become bad asses. I predict that this won’t end well for them, eventually they’ll get tired pushing around a bunch of liberal pussies and try to force their will onto someone or some group that isn’t going to back down and then the circus is gonna be short a few clowns.

  5. Fantasy: Walking through campus wearing a T-shirt that says THERE ARE NO SAFE SPACES while carrying an idling 24″ chain saw.

    • Pacific geoduck (/ˈɡuː.iˌdʌk/)

What illiterate cretin introduced the English spelling for this thing? There are no language rules in existence that allow “geo” to be pronounce “gooey.” If they wanted it to be pronounced gooeyduck, there are numerous ways they could have chosen to spell it that arguably would have made sense.

  6. Gangs who look like cartoon characters carrying baseball bats? Are you sure we’re not looking at a twisted remake of “The Warriors?”

    • I was thinking of a low budget drama club production of a clockwork orange, but I’ll give it to Ralph on the warriors for the atmosphere. Now as for their behavior…are we sure this isn’t some performance art inspired by clockwork orange…ok, ok, so they’re a little more serious than that.

Still, if these are the foot soldiers of the comming revolution, it looks to me as if it could be mostly put down by distributing free MDMA, then withholding flashy things and pacifiers until everyone agrees to disband and disarm.

Also, has anyone tried playing blaring Perry Como at high volume on campus? Try that and get back to me if they either assault the source of the music or fail to disband due to general disinterest after a week.

  7. “It’s only a matter of time before these vigilante squad members suffer a sudden and profound error in their victim selection process. Only then will they learn the folly of bringing a baseball bat to a gunfight.”

I bet a few of them would have no problem ‘dying for the cause’.

I can see the headline now – “Racist bigot killed by a swarm of bat-wielding Ant-Fas. Candlelight service tomorrow night for the 5 heroic Anti-Fas murdered by the racist bigot”.

    • This is the part where I think you are wrong. These cowards only pick soft targets. If you actually hurt one of them they would all run screaming.

    • They don’t even need to run into a gunfight, 10% of the male population (probably 5% of the female) would take one of those bats away from one of them and beat the living piss out of any of them that didn’t run like a cat when the doorbell rings.

  8. I would genuinely like to see the fat cow in the lower right-hand corner actually try to physically assault someone. That would be genuinely hilarious.

  9. When can we just brand the. Democrat part a terrorist group and treat these savages like the animals they are? This is absurd.

By the way if I got to pick who I squared off with I’ll take the chick on the far right, because if I walk at a normal pace she’ll never be able to catch me.

  10. SJWs are the embodiment of the internet “tough guy/gal/whatever”. So easy to troll and so satisfying.

  11. I’d call them “droogs” but I doubt they’d get the reference.

Seriously though, this is what Alex’s crew would have looked like if they were randomly selected from certain bars in Key West.

That said, I don’t doubt that they’re dangerous. A bat is a reasonably effective weapon within it’s range and I doubt they have the balls to come at you alone. I count eight, so with good marksmanship that’s at least 16 JHP rounds, with prolly a few extra for that escaped hippo… Yet another reason to carry a spare mag, eschew the pocket guns and not settle for anything less than 9mm.

  12. I don’t think they would get much ‘patrolling’ out of that bunch. Two blocks and you’d hear the whining…”gaaa! These bats are soooo heavy!”

  13. Id hate to have the fine folks at ttag find out if i got my ass kicked by a group of xxy emo punks. Never be able to show my call sign around here again.

Fwiw i read the letter that prof weinstein wrote about the day of kicking whites off campus. It was very respectfull if not a little liberal for my tastes.

  14. Sooooo…. there is a picture of them….. and they can all be easily identified….. why are they not in jail?????

    • Didnt you read the article? The campus executives neutered the campus PD. The maniacs are running the assylum, and the rest of the snowflakes have been conditioned to cower….. in the land of cowards and no guns, the angry skinny-jeans-wearing punks with bats are king.

  15. Well, you at least have to hand it to them for coming out in force and demanding what they think is right. All of us decent, peaceable people who just want to be left alone should take note and gear up (mentally) to do the same if pressed.

  16. I’m amused that this entire thing arose out of complaints over the concept of banning white people from campus, yet 75-87.5% of the pictured “enforcers” are Beatles-album white.

  17. Evergreen College has had the reputation, just about forever, as the place all the loonies in Seattle end up attending. This current situation is so very unsurprising to me. It will blow over in a week and those students will wander off to pursue other endeavors that don’t make any more sense to the average onlooker. Unless one vigilante gets blown away by an armed victim, this will be a non-story in a week, maximum.

  18. These type of people (is that the appropriate descriptor? I would hate to offend) are one of the reasons that I keep 100 rounds of 9mm, a combat knife and soon a couple of spare CZ75 mags in my Trunk tool bag.

Eventually these people are going to go to far and someone will die.

  19. From the colleges policy handbook: prohibited acts :

Acts or threats in any manner or form, which are intended to intimidate, coerce, or cause fear of harm
Acts or threats of violence made directly or indirectly by words, gestures or symbols.

You’re also prohibited from carrying any blunt force weapon

Glad to see the college president took immediate action. By posting a letter online saying they should stop cuz someone might be scared.

Not exactly a firm hand on the rudder of leadership there.

BUT : true fact. They moved graduation ceremonies off campus to a venue where they could have better security.

A Triple-A baseball field in Tacoma
    Ahh, irony …

  20. Living in Oly all my life and even working on campus for several years in the early nineties. I can tell you from personal experience that nothing has changed in 25 years. The students and faculty live in a incestuous echo chamber devoid from reality. Especially the ones who live on campus only to leave there to “protest” in downtown Olympia for what ever cause of the week. Even back in those days I experienced racism against me because I’m privileged white European male. They didn’t care I was making minimum wage just trying to get by at the time. They just cared about my skin color. Even went to a racial sensitive class on campus taught by person that was the State Governors racial advisor at that time. I was told in that class that only whites can be racist. That blacks or other minorities can not. The class pushed back like WTF? It was then explained because whites are the majority and that we are the power in the country. That blacks judging us by the color of our skin is not racist but them pushing back on our white power. My jaw dropped on that one. And to think she was the one advising the Governor of the state on racial issues was just plain disturbing to me. This and many other experiences on that campus is a large part of why I became much more conservative. If you have a different opinion on that campus you will be shouted down and even threatened. You will be targeted. There is no such thing as free speech or different ideas. Its really sad because these trust fund hippies are really ill prepared for the real world after four years of their circle jerk on campus.

As far as guns on campus goes. There was a huge debate in the early nineties about the campus police being armed or not. Not really sure how that worked out seeing I left by then. But looking at the history of the campus you can defiantly see the need for campus carry. In the early seventies a disgruntled boy friend came into the Greenery (there campus cafeteria) on the ground floor. Walked up to his ex girl friends table and shot her down. Then went up to the loop to catch the city bus. That’s were the police picked him up. The second is Ted Bundy found one of his victims on that campus. Let me tell you the trails between many of the buildings are dark and wooded with poor trail lighting. Defiantly a place for heightened situational awareness. I did have a friend that kept his AK47 in his closet in the Mods (on campus dorms). We would go up shooting on state land in Capital Forest. So they all weren’t anti gun.

  21. I’ve got two kids in college. My kids and my money would leave in a nano-second. It would incur extra cost, both would have to re-take classes, because of transfer.

But, I’m tired of the inmates running the asylum.

    • I’m still not convinced the still shot isn’t from a drama club production of clockwork orange. Or, given these people are young and naive, perhaps the photographer has posed them this way to make a statement, or a joke. Then again, sometimes life imitates art.

  22. Oh come on. Is anyone here really afraid of the cringe-worthy mutants in that photo?

And why is everyone freaking out about what’s coming from college campuses? Colleges and universities have always been bubbles of irrationality, adorable idealism, and sometimes political unrest (remember the early 70s, anyone?). Why? Because they are populated by stupid young people with overinflated senses of self worth (which has described young people since the dawn of time) as well as ivory tower academics who opted out of the real world in favor of their little bubble.

Fear not, though. Just as with all the generations of younguns before them, most of them will leave their collegiate bubbles and safe space spaces and cold hard reality will choke-slam all of the hopes, dreams, and idealism right out of them. And just like you and I, they’ll be working jobs they hate around people they hate to stay fed and indoors and will in time start ranting about those snot nosed brats on college campuses. Wash rinse repeat ad nauseam until we arrive at the technological singularity and our robot overlords finally have enough of our shit.

  23. “All fifty states have how have (at least some form of) concealed carry and over half have some provision for campus carry.”

    That is not true.

It is obvious from the map that linked
that NOT all Fifty States have concealed carry or have some provision of campus carry.

In my state there is no provision, except by the permission of the college dean or president,
whom NONE allow the carrying of guns on campus.

the best you get is to stow it in your vehicle, but it can never leave the vehicle.

But I will say, that if I were attending one of these campuses where the SJW’s staging violent protests, you bet I would ignore the law and concealed carry all the times.

Additionally I would probably go so far as have a suppressor on that gun so as not to attract unwanted attention.

  24. “However, a college campus would be the last place most folks would expect to run into a mob of bat-wielding hooligans”

Clearly you don’t read the news. From Missouri’s Misery to Berkeley’s Berserk Bullsh*t, the left has been enjoying a monopoly on violent campus attacks for quite some time. College campuses are the number ONE place I expect to be attacked.
