  1. Talk about stuational awareness, his detailed descriptions are phenomenal post adrenaline dump. Maybe more useful on the start of the event though.
    Awareness that is.

  2. The females, at the very least, should be visited by the fashion police. I’m glad the “victim” refused to be a victim.

  3. I forget my Arlington street names, but I lived in a neighborhood of a number of Vietnamese, circa 1980. The Red Line was a 3-mile bus ride, to the Ballston Metro. There was a hip record store, and one day I was in there and they were playing my music! Incredible feeling.

Bailey’s Crossroads and Route 7 was an easy walk. And there was a crow woods there of unforgettable proportions, where maybe 600 crows nested at night.

I worked as a Metro messenger, but sometimes on foot. One or two stops a day at the Pentagon, where I got two-minute buzzcuts with the enlisted officers, for $2! And bought copies of SOLDIER OF FORTUNE while getting buzzed.

I remember being in Secret Service HQ right after Reagan was shot. The hotel room Hinckley stayed in was eight feet across the alley. I could see it from the SS lobby.

That same day, I delivered on foot to GWU Hospital… where I saw my bandmate’s ex-wife! I worked out of an embrossing firm (handwritten certificates and awards) on 16th Street, around the corner from the White House. A bank and porn store were across the street. The stately Willard Hotel, less than two blocks!

Once, back in town to see the Dead Kennedys, across the alley from Ford’s Theater (locals can name the place!), I was on the roof patio of the Willard, drinking, and watched an INCREDIBLE WHITE SQUALL cross the Potomac from Virginia! It was like nothing I’ve ever seen. And when it hit our deck, it literally BLEW FULL DRINK GLASSES off the table. And so we retreated inside.

The only thing to rival it was a severe downburst I saw in Stafford County, VA, where we were camping at a festival. Most severe weather I ever saw. I saw tents flying over the woods, while I was putting all the weight, desperately, in my little tent that was possible, while my daughter and friends were nearby in theirs.
It was frightening, but no one was hurt, though some lost their tents, never to be found.

    • “There was a hip record store, and one day I was in there and they were playing my music!”

So, tell us about your rendition of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and why a “hip record store” would be playing it. 😉

  4. Well, if he had wasted the four muggers, this would be all over the news. But since there was no gory bloodshed that we Americans love to read about on our smartphones, we will only read about it on this one website that publishes the TRUTH, and nothing but the truth.

  5. hmmm, “forced into his apartment,” and somehow they’re still alive…..there’s something seriously wrong with this picture.

  6. Y’know, depending on where one lives the legal system might take rather a dim view of entry wounds on the back.

    Pity, that.

  7. H’mmm. . . VERY detailed descriptions. Almost. . . as if he’d seen them before. More than once. On a regular basis. Like, almost like maybe he KNEW them. Almost. . . H’mmm. . .

  8. Instead of your “dgu of the day” today how about an “offensive gun use of the day.”? D-Day. Would have been the perfect day for it. But you had posts like “who is your favorite professional shooter” today instead of honoring the vets. BS

  9. “The victim brandished a firearm and the suspects dropped his belongings and fled on foot.”

That sounds like a happy ending to me.
