An attacker in New Orleans discovered he’d committed an error in the victim selection process when he tried to force his way into a car driven by a woman with her toddler in the back seat. Instead of robbing or carjacking her, the thug fled empty-handed as the woman, a long-time Air Force veteran, pulled a gun, ready to provide some ballistic dissuasion.

As WDSU reports . . .

[Charise] Taylor said she was headed to pick up her husband on Friday. She was stuck in gridlock traffic, she said a group in a truck motioned to her to get over. So, she let them. Next thing she knows a man comes up to her passenger door.

“So, as he comes up he’s close and he’s pretty aggressive trying to get the car door open makes eye contact with me he’s still trying to get it open a couple times,” Taylor said.

Taylor said she picked up her gun.

“It’s locked and loaded,” she recalled saying.

The bad guy decided he didn’t want to meet his maker that day and retreated.

Taylor, the would-be victim, survived the encounter alive and physically unhurt. She didn’t lose anything except her peace of mind.

“You shouldn’t have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It’s un-American,” Taylor said. “The crime is out of control and it’s terrifying. At this point, having to use the same tactics in an American city that you use in Iraq and Afghanistan simply to navigate through the city, it’s scary and I’m not the only mom feeling this way.”

No, she isn’t. That’s one of the primary reasons observers expect November will deal a serious blow to “defund the police” and “criminal justice reform” advocates.

And the New Orleans police? They seem to be doing their part to paper over the true extent of the crime problem in their city, which is consistently listed among the cities with the most violent crime in the nation. They classified the attempted armed robbery or carjacking as a “disturbance.”

From the WDSU story . . .

Taylor said she didn’t fire but was ready to. She said the man eventually ran off. Taylor said what also has her on edge is police classified the crime as a disturbance.

NOPD issued had this to say . . .

“The NOPD is actively investigating a disturbance that occurred on Interstate 10 West at the Canal Street exit on February 11, 2022 at about 5:20 p.m. The incident classification is based on the available information regarding the incident at the time the report was written. We do not have any additional information to provide this time.”

Americans are increasingly aware of the proliferation of violent crime in their towns and cities, along with the prosecutors who enable it and the politicians who want to defund the police while hiring private security for themselves and their own families.

Great job to Ms. Taylor for successfully carrying out our defensive gun use of the day.

  1. I would like to commend this mother for not only protecting herself but her child. The need to conceal carry a firearm for one’s own protection is becoming common place in today’s lawless society because of lack of bail or reduced bail by Soros backed D.A’S across the country.Until we start electing officials that believe in law and order this trend will continue.

    • Very true. No room for open carry though? Gov overreach is another (huge) part of the problem and it starts immediately upon them getting one single toe in the door, it seems. Unless I misread, shall people be ‘regulated’ to conceal carry only? Smells like another toe to me.

  2. Yup, if that disturbance had proceeded the way it was supposed to, how would the report read…..”woman killed in traffic accident”??

      • More like…”Dateline MSNBC…A tragic gun violence death today in New Orleans (City that Care Forgot) when an Air Force Service member went on a murderous road rage spree. Viciously gunned down was a male pedestrian who was knocking on the assailant’s window, seemingly, in an effort to offer his counsel and help in her moment of distress. A GoFundMe page has been started for the unknown victim (administered by the local BLM affiliate). The NOLA police continued their campaign of misinformation and lies by stating that it was only a “disturbance”. A “mostly peaceful” protest is scheduled for 10 pm tonight in the fashion district.”

Apologize for the lack of clarity…
As a retiree, I am looking for part-time employment as a ghost writer for MSNBC. I figured that I could submit an example of my creative writing, along with my C.V., to demonstrate that I have their “Look / Feel – style elements” down pat.

Back to your query: The Media can be trusted ABSOLUTELY.*

*the Media can be trusted absolutely to only portray the “facts” and viewpoint that supports their political patrons priorities.

        • Montana; Ahh, thank you for clearing that up, I feel as if the fog is lifting. Good luck in your quest for employment with one of the nation’s finest disseminators of The Truth to those who seek only what they feel they should hear. A tip or two to aid you in your journey, if I may; I cannot help but notice certain words and phrases find favor with the editors, such as the word Gunman(™?) which should be included in the leading sentence, as well as the title (critical) of any article covering any crime related incident and repeated often throughout, preferably ending the article with it being used at least twice in the closing paragraph; also critical. Be sure to include it in any subheadings or bylines with bold type as well. Unsure if the actual use or even the presence of a real firearm in said incident is important but artistic licence is, of course, a fundamental right and competition is fierce, so no matter. As well, it seems to be a popular trend with the editorial staff at this august establishment to prioritize the many incidents involving the presence of white supremacy oriented violence so prevalent in our society today. This would be regardless of the skin color of the perpetrator(s) involved, of which it would of course be racist to point out, so caution is advised here as at first glance it may appear confusing but I’m sure continued exposure to your new surroundings will provide acclimatization… if not immunity. I believe these two simple things should be the main focus in your writing to help guarantee success, possibly even rapid advancement in the field. Indeed, who knows where it might all lead? Hope this helps and yes, hammer the feels, for this is The Way. Postscript: if MSNBC is unwilling I could put in a word with their sister corporation up here, the CBC. Perhaps you have heard of them? I hear their coffers have just been refilled by yet another Liberal government grant of hundreds of millions (so as to ensure lack of bias, you understand, bless his little heart, and propagating the truth is so expensive these days what with inflation from the fallout of the Trump disaster) so opportunity abounds for those willing to put themselves out there and the farther the better in today’s competitive field of creative journalism, I imagine. All the best, Montana and be sure to tell Rachel we think of her often up here, at least in the Western Provinces, if you two should meet.

        • Montana, check back here later for a long ass but, I hope, amusing reply to your latest as mine is once again “awaiting moderation” by Big Brother. That’s gotta be near 50/50 now with three in a row at last bat just today, none worded any differently than these. Be a shame to pen that screed and have you miss it. Cheers.

Twenty-two years ago a couple of Canadians and I were camping up along the 49th Parallel. Having had a few sips of Canada’s finest distillations whilst relaxing around the fire we were deep into solving all the New Worlds problems. One of the guys spoke up “this whole border is F’d up, eh”. Well, I mumbled something in reply and he followed up with “yeah, it’s in the wrong place, eh”. I asked where it should be. He replied that the border should run South To North from the Gulf Coast (New Orleans straight up…more or less along the Mississippi River) all the way to Santa’s Workshop. Canada would be the Eastern country and the USA would be the Western country. He said the politics would be more closely aligned if we did this (he is from Edmonton, Alberta).

I think, for the most part, he was correct. To make it work, we would have to have mass deportations from coastal California, Oregon and Washington…looking forward to helping some of the Hollyweird vermin pack their shituff for their migration to the Utopia awaiting them along the Eastern Seaboard.

        • I can’t speak for Canada, but the I-95 corridor would be more appropriate for the US (politically Appalachia is at least as far from the East Coast as most points West). It might not even require too many “deportations” if it went I-5 to I-95.

        • Montana, yup, and right up the Western side of Ottawa. Shame about our Newfies but so be it. We can wall off the San Fran area and just abandon it to them, they won’t last long anyways. We’ll have to pull Snake Pliskin out again though and send him in to extract jwm and friends. Wouldn’t be right otherwise. I’ve spent a month and a half each spring for 6 yrs now riding from central bc down to may-hico and thru AZ, etc. Miss it very much. Cheers.

  3. Great article.

To those who insist on posting skewed “statistics” on constitutional carry and CCW laws, I say this: whenever a person uses statistics exclusively to argue their case it shows their ignorance and low self-esteem. Anyone can find a statistic that suits their purposes but it is a smart, well-informed, stong-willed individual who can articulate clearly and decisively the merits of their opinion.

Bottom line, if you’re going to post statistics solely to back up your leftist/Communist rhetoric do it on the MSNBC forums. The man/woman their will put you on camera.

  4. In many parts of our nation it’s obvious that those who were entrusted to provide protection to law abiding citizens by holding criminals responsible for their actions. Has been a failed experiment in regards to our Republic. It has become abundantly clear that the citizenry needs to take it upon themselves to provide protection for themselves and their loved ones.“You shouldn’t have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It’s un-American,” Taylor said. “The crime is out of control and it’s terrifying. At this point, having to use the same tactics in an American city that you use in Iraq and Afghanistan simply to navigate through the city, it’s scary and I’m not the only mom feeling this way.” Says all that needs to be said.

  5. GOOD ARTICAL , KNOW SHE RIGHT ABOUT SHOULDN’T HAVE TO . HOWEVER ,
PROVES : BETTER TO HAVE AND NOT USE / NEED , THAN NEED AND NOT HAVE . !!!
GLAD HER CHILD NOT HARMED .

    • WHAT, NO VITRIOL, HATE AND DEATH WISHES TODAY FOR THE CANADIAN TRUCKERS, NTEXAS? HOW ABOUT THE ONES IN USA? AND HOW ABOUT THOSE ADVOCADOS YOU MISS SO MUCH, FIND SOME YET? MAYBE A TRUCKER DIED, OPENED A SLOT ON THE BRIDGE AND A SHIPMENT GOT THROUGH, BETTER GO CHECK! AND THANKS FOR INFOR ALWAYS!

  6. Was the New Orlean’s Police Department purposefully covering up? Who knows?

Just because a woman reports that a man tried to open her door in a traffic jam does not mean that it actually happened. Furthermore, even if a man did try to open her door, that does not necessarily mean that the man was trying to carjack her.

I believe the best wording would have been that police were investigating a reported incident. If they found compelling evidence that a man actually tried to carjack the woman, then they can update that case from an incident to an attempted carjacking.

  7. ‘It’s Locked and Loaded’

Thus endeth the lesson Mr. Thug.

A lesson concept taught over and over again thousands of times daily across the United States. Sometimes though its needed to re-enforce the lesson for those thugs with learning difficulties by explaining in more detail what the “Loaded” part means.

  8. Guessing that he wanted to thank her face-to-face for her service to country…the closed door and window kept her from hearing his message of Live Long and Prosper.

For the sake of her and her child’s hearing I’m glad she did not have to actually fire on the dirtbag from within a vehicle.

  9. Good for Charise. She was her own first responder while the police were eating beignets down at the pastry shop. They would have been eating donuts, but c’mon man, they’re in the Big Sleazy after all.

  10. You think she’s something, you should see what three “church ladies” in their hats and dresses can do in the projects. Rather had them for backup than a SWAT team. Properly wielded those handbags were something to behold.

  11. Anyone notice that she is African-American? Once that segment of the population realize that they will become the primary victims of the ANTIFA/BLM anarchists, the politics is going to be fascinating.

  12. “You shouldn’t have to navigate your own city like a war zone. It’s un-American,”

yet her choice is to live/travel in a metro/city. New Orleans yet. You chose poorly gal.

  13. Ummmm… where’s dacian? Isn’t this his cue to tell us all that using a gun to defend yourself will always get you killed?

    • Prob busy wiping off his mom’s laptop. I imagine it takes time to do it right in a dark basement where you never see the light.

        • Nasty. Imagine your driving thru a liberal residential neighborhood. Look at the houses as you go by and think how many basements must house one of these drooling, green haired, nostril ringed window lickers, feverishly pounding away on their mom’s laptop, or in front of it. I got a hundred bucks says you start speeding up.

  14. Most of the carjacking attempts in NOLA are not being reported anymore. Two Monday’s ago, a story ran that counted 10 attempts the previous Saturday.

I prevented one recently and didn’t bother to report it. Response time is hours, no one was injured, and that part of time was a poor place to await LEO.

Maintaining situational awareness and where possible leaving an escape route are essential skills here. Stay alert! Stay alive!

  15. “That’s one of the primary reasons observers expect November will deal a serious blow to “defund the police” and “criminal justice reform” advocates.”

not if dominion has anything to say about it.

  16. Where’s the dotard lil’d on this story.

He claims victims are always killed when attempting to defend themselves with a firearm. 🤪

I guess this incident, just like my sons, never happened. Right lil’d?
