We’re hearing that in the wake of the horrific mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand, firearms fans there can no longer get to ar15.com. It would appear that the government is denying access to the site. Because the best way to gun owners there to buy into a semi-auto rifle ban is by limiting their access to information…or something.

We don’t have a lot of readers from that part of the world, but we have a few and some of them have been active in our comment section over the last couple of days. So it seems access to TTAG hasn’t been affected. At least not yet.

We’ve emailed one of those readers asking him to confirm what’s being said in the post above at the New Zealand Hunting and Shooting Forum, but if you’re in New Zealand and seeing the same thing regarding ARFCOM, or any other gun-related site, please let us know in the comments below.

  1. Maybe better background checks everyone is complaining about could avoid some of these drastic events.

    • Please describe how you would improve the background check that the killer went through? How about if only a couple people in the mosque were armed, things would of been different. Guaranteed. The second mosque had someone shoot back at the killer supposedly. That sent him on his way. The only answer is to have some armed people. Enough of these gun free zones. Let people choose.

      • why have we not heard more about the shooter in the second mosque?….seems to be deliberately suppressed…

        • So far it is only one shooter who attacked both locations.

One of the arrested people was let go, an armed citizen who tried to help.

Have yet to hear what the other two arrests turned out to be.

      • Listen folks dont think these bs republicans in U.S. Senate will not try to take your guns.
12 repub rhino Senators voted against trumps national emergency at the border re narcotics illegal caravans and ms 13 and cartel terror.
Dems are trying to use newzealand as cause to take out guns.

    • Yeah I’d like to know how you think increasing background check ratios would stop anything? Do you know that the current background check system isn’t properly enforced? And by that I mean it’s barely enforced at all. TTAG actually has several articles on it already if you care to read them.

    • The NZ terrorist passed a background check and was issued a license by the government. This massacre proves, yet again, that gun control fails.

      • Yes, two years ago!

Gun control is useless against killers and criminals who take all the time they want to plan and prepare to evade every law we can think of. Doesn’t do any good against spur of the moment criminal acts either.

    • ….or not…[most likely not]…..people will now play the “what if” game with unsatisfactory results….

  2. Go read on that forum, my god what a bunch of cucks. There are plenty ready to turn in guns and have guns outlawed. I thought we had fudds here in the states. I can’t believe the weak minded talk over there.

    • A bunch of the rest seem to endorse the mass murderer or his ideology, to some extent.

NZ telecoms are the cowards (wonder if they’re Google affiliates?) since they are the ones doing the blocking, not the government. Useful to see how corps can clamp down on info at a moment’s notice, though (the video is rather hard to find for the same reason). Some of the gore-porn sites have been blocked as well, since the video keeps popping up.

Fake(ish) news, unless something changed in the last few hours. That’s per NZ users, too. VPN to a different provider & there’s no issue.

      • Just go look how they treated Luis Valdes, the writer here, who goes by Miami_JBT on ar15.com, when he posted a few gun pictures on the New Zealand hunting forum. I’ve never seen so many cucks. They are more than happy to give up there guns. You have to really search to find guys there that support conceal carry. Just a country of weak men for the most part. They make Bloomberg look like he’s to the right of GOA.

      • The Telecoms mostly do what the government says they “should” do. A company like, for instance, SparkNZ used to be a division of the NZ Post Office. It was privatized around 1990. It lingers in their mind that if they can be privatized then they can be nationalized again.

These companies know that if they step out of line, even on “voluntary” issues that there can potentially be serious consequences so they tend to tow the line.

Much as I like NZ it’s not the US. It’s a wholly different government and a different culture. Not making waves is a thing there, as is the potential for repercussions if you do.

        • I should add that the mere existence of his mega service is a giant middle finger in opposition to any censorship or blocking and I doubt, based on prior actions, that he would do the same.

So it is not all companies folding left and right.

    • well they tended to regard themselves as Oz…until the guy behind the curtain emerged with an AR-15….probably still in a state of shock…and not thinking clearly…

  3. He was heavily vetted genius…it’s freakin’ New Zealand. I rarely peruse AR15.com. Am I missing something?!?

    • Not unless you want to watch people fight over accessories and caliber choices. I go there for entertainment and to watch the shit posters.

      • Eh. It’s useful to read some of the problem/solution threads if your build has issues. If possible I prefer to learn from others’ mistakes, rather than my own … I make enough of those as it is.

  4. As I understand it, they are blocking websites that put up videos of the shooting. I think that has something to do with it. There was a bunch of links to the GoPro video that kept being put up in the post about the shooting over there. One would get blocked and a new link would pop up. Which is the way a free country should act.

    • Yup.

And the vast majority of people are only too happy to engage in exactly the fights that guy hopes to start. A lot of older folks don’t even see the problem.

  5. I watched the video last night, found it on some odd alt-news site.

Gov’ts, like NZ, and Google can try and block it including his manifesto but…

    “You can’t stop the signal.”
    ―Mr. Universe

    • The fact that they’re trying to stop the signal, and how that action is perceived, are the problems.

Glad you found a copy of what you were looking for btw. They’re trying pretty hard to scrub that shit off the webz. Which is unfortunate but predictable.

  6. “Is the New Zealand Government Blocking Access to AR15.com?”

I wouldn’t be surprised in the least, we all know that certain sites homebased in the U.S. are blocked in several countries around the world, mostly in communist and socialist countries, because that’s how they roll…control the flow of information, control the sheeple…

    • Exactly, look at Canada. It used to be pretty free with speech and guns. The PC police got to a junior hockey (Alberta) team that danced to a First Nation song in their locker room. Had to forfeit the rest of season due to threats against them. They were just boys being silly, not mean! AND some of the boys were FN kids dancing to their music. Geeeezee. Stupid league wrote an apology critical of the boys’ so called “disrespectful” behavior.

  7. Just checked my VPN service, no options for logon from New Zealand. Several cities in Australia though. I am now logged on from Melbourne, AR15.com pops right up.

So at least NZ’s closest neighbor hasn’t done something stupid on this point.

    Yet.

    • Not yet, but with the lead up to a state election next weekend, all the scaremongering about gun owners is starting to show. Greens are demanding only TWO guns per person. They might as well tell a golfer to only use a 1-wood and a putter.

  8. Cant confirm but i feel this is a false flag from the get go. Too many inconsistencies from the get go including the timeline. Need more information to know for sure but you can bet most will be kept under wraps. Was he even licensed in NZ? He was australian and to get a NZ License for an ar15 you have to have from memory 5 people including at least a couple professionals (eg doctor) who have known you for at least 5 years, vouch for you in a face to face interview with police. There is also a thriving black market both here in australia and in NZ so it is not like it would be hard to get on the street. Are they just saying he was licensed at this stage as has been the case with several shooters here in australia (lindt cafe for one)?

    • NZ will, er well maybe would, issue a gun permit with the appropriate endorsement to people traveling to NZ if those people had what NZ considered to be a valid purpose to possess those particular guns. One of their approved valid reasons was to take part is sporting events. Another is to go hunting.

If this guy had a valid entry visa he could get those guns with a Type E endorsement. NZ requires two people to vouch for you to get the original gun license (Type A) but often waived this requirement for people traveling to NZ for sporting purposes.

Once he had the Type A license and the E endorsement along with a valid Visa he could buy whatever he wanted in NZ because all a dealer would care about was that he knew that you were who you claimed to be and had the appropriate license with the appropriate endorsement for the items you wanted to buy.

How exactly he got the endorsement I don’t know. But lying about it wouldn’t have been hard so as long as he lied convincingly during the application process and interview and didn’t come across as unstable he was going to be able to get through the system.

The system is tighter for NZ residents than it is for people coming in as visitors. Which makes some sense since NZ charges big bucks for overseas hunting licenses and didn’t want to ban potential hunters from having the ability to hunt and therefore spend money in NZ.

    • Won’t your attack result in calls for the removal of gun rights in the
      New Zealand?

The gun owners of New Zealand are a beaten, miserable bunch of baby
boomers, who have long since given up the fight. When was the last time
they won increased rights? Their loss was inevitable.I just accelerated
      things a bit.
They had long since lost their cities, take a look at Auckland. Did you
really expect they would not also lose their rights?

      • Won’t your attack result in calls for the removal of gun rights from
        Whites in the United states?

Yes, that is the plan all along, you said you would fight to protect your
rights and the constitution, well soon will come the time.

  9. Get a VPN and you can bypass any restriction by accessing the site from another Country.

Interesting. I just connected to ar15’s forum through New Zealand with NordVPN.

  10. Again, proof that evil and violence exist. Be prepared to deal with it decisively or be an overwhelmed and dead victim. NZ prime minister is already advocating further gun control. Prime example of insanity….doing the same thing over and over and still expecting different results.
If God’s “Thou Shalt Not Kill” hasn’t prevented these tragedies, why would one think that another politician’s law will be the answer? Stupidity personified.

    • Blaming inanimate objects for evil done by evil people is the pagan’s way of not facing the fact that there is good and evil in the world. Evil acts make national headlines that get reported all over the world. Acts by good people are seldom reported. This massacre in N Z is another excuse to mask ” safety ” by disarming law abiding citizens to bring all under control for the one world government. In N Z , the new one world religion was attacked. I have never seen anything worth breaking the commandment ” Thou shalt not murder ” and paying the eternal sentence for it. Our founding fathers said that for our system of government to work, we would have to elect only moral people. I think I see the problem.

  12. Subjects of a Crown, the British Commonwealth, have never had the right to free speech. That is a myth. Possibly picked up by watching too much American television.
