Irresponsible Gun Owner of the Day: Lorain County Sheriff’s Capt. John Reiber

Technically, the gun with which Lorain (Ohio) County Sheriff’s Capt. John Reiber shot himself isn’t his. Or maybe it is, given that many wives ascribe to the old Russian theory of ownership (what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine). Anyway, you’ll be pleased to know that the Morning Journal reports that  Sheriff Reiber is back on the job “after accidentally shooting himself while testing a gun in Vermilion Township.” Testing? Testing. One. Two. Three. BLAM! “Reiber was testing his wife’s .380-caliber Walther semiautomatic handgun about 2:30 p.m. March 14 when the gun fired. A single bullet struck Reiber in the hand and abdomen, and he walked to a neighbor’s home for help.” I’m confused. Was the test a success or a failure?
