Who among us hasn’t done something stupid in order to catch the eye of a member of the opposite sex? It’s practically a rite of passage. But in Greece, they’re willing to go a little further than we are here. Or maybe the girls there are just harder to impress. As upi.com relates, “Investigators said the teenager in Kato Ambelia initially told officers he shot himself in the foot accidentally Sunday while attempting to ward off a home intruder, but the teen admitted Tuesday he shot himself in the foot on purpose with his father’s unlicensed gun in an attempt to impress a girl with his concocted story….” Who knows? Maybe she’ll come visit him in the hospital – or jail – when she hears the news. Even if she doesn’t, at least he’ll have earned himself some impressive IGOTD hardware. That’s sure to turn her head.

    • Cut the kid a break. He was trying to score some tail. You know a better reason to shoot yourself in the foot?

  1. Now dad gets to explain his unlicensed gun to the cops because of his horny teeny bopper. Dad ought to do the girl and send the video to his son in the hospital. While the kid’s in the hospital he ought to be neutered for the sake of the gene pool.

      • Longbeach, an unregistered handgun in Ca. is a felony. An unlicensed gun in Greece? Dad gets the boot in the neck for the gun and the kids medical bills. Because junior thought that shooting his self in the foot was the way to get laid. If anything I think I was being too easy on the kid. Especially if dad does jail time over this.

        • I agree that it was spectacularly stupid, your comment just seemed overly, uhhh, colorful? Hilarious for sure, but colorful. That kid deserves whatever punishment he receives and then some.

        • LB, I usually tone it down for TTAG. But sometimes you just gotta let go. And this was so stupid as to be on a whole other level.

  2. Rite of passage (as in ritual).

Although I guess everybody should technically have the right to shoot themselves in the foot…if they want to…

Back when I was about 12, I crashed my bicycle several times, on purpose, in front of a girl I liked. (Proving…what? That I had a very poor sense of balance? That scraped knees bleed?) Still stupid and pointless, but compared to this moron my 12-year-old self was a genius.

  3. Thank you very much.

Married to a Greek woman…have sent this to all the male relatives asking if everybody is o.k. Just concerned and wanted to check.

    Thank you again.

  4. Clicking on the photo takes you to a completely different story about a married guy shooting himself in the foot with a shotgun. I knew the hole in that boot was too big for a pistol or most rifles.

    • It gets even better. It’s from the Lebanon Times Beirut. But the story seems to have taken place in England. It’s rather amusing how twisted the facts can get when you know nothing about guns. Somewhat like the MSM. To wit:

“Father shoots himself with shot gun in foot and shoots off big toe.

“Jamie Cameron was on a hunting trip when he tripped. Emergency call was put through to the local police station where his father works as an officer.

“A bullet from the shot gun ripped through Jamie Cameron’s boot.

“Jamie’s gun fired two shots – one which went straight through his right foot and blew off his big toe.”
      410 maybe?

“The freak accident happened as Jamie and his brother Stuart, 21, prepared to shoot crows at a friend’s farm on April 6.”
I DO NOT want to tangle with THOSE crows…

      • King Juan Carlos of Spain had a grandson who shot himself in the foot with a shotgun a few months ago. This stuff happens.

  5. I was wrong. I had thought the only people so emotionally unbalanced to intentionally shoot themselves and then file a false police report would be American gun-grabbers.
