Longtime readers know that TTAG’s bestowed its IGOTD award to FPSRussia more times than Michelle Obama’s stuffed her purse with Oprah dollars. We’ve taken the faux Russian to task numerous times for his lack of ear pro (which also seems to be missing from this video) and eye pro. This time out, it’s the don’t stand so, don’t stand so, don’t stand so close to targets thing. FPSRussia’s cameraman paid the price for this problem before. Fortunately, there’s no carnage here when Kyle shoots a beer keg at close range (5:32), then realizes he needs to back up to avoid ricochets (by his own admission). Set a good example much? Hardly ever. IGOTD redux.

    • Yea how about not quoting your antiquated bronze age book written by ignorant sheep herders unless you are going to actually follow the words written in it. Words such as directions regarding owning another human being as property, stoning people to death for sexual orientation and apostacy, and supporting human sacrifice (no not Abrahamand Isaac). Read your damn Bible buddy, it is the most potent force for atheism ever written. I studied it inside and out and realized it is no better that the Koran when I went to seminary. The only difference is that Christians and Jews have done a better job adapting to secular morality. Be ignorant and quote your superstitious nonsense all you want but your religous nonsense is no better than ISIS religous nonsense. You just don’t have the courage of your convictions. And if you come back with the new testament/old testament argument, you definately haven’t studied your bible.

        • If you are smart enough to have studied both the Quran and the Bible extensively you should easily be able to spell both of them.

        • I can’t believe you people are going to argue over the spelling of Koran. As mentioned there are a few ways to spell it, and all are correct. Koran, Quran, Qu’ran. You idiots arguing over the spelling are missing the guy’s point entirely.

No 2 maik7. Christians themselves are the biggest single argument for atheism that exists. But none of this has to do with Farago’s obsessive persecution of FPS Russia.

Hey Robert Farago, lighten up on the guy. He’s not wearing ears because hello SUPPRESSOR. Eye pros? He’s wearing his Ray-Bans which are good enough.

Robert are you only upset because he’s half your age and twice your net worth? Is that it? I think that’s it…

        • @ scurvy dog: “Christians themselves are the biggest single argument for atheism that exists”

I would make the argument that asshole atheists are the reason why most non-believers consider themselves agnostic instead of atheist.

      • Who pooped in your pajamas?

All he did was quote a book. He didn’t force you to listen. He didn’t force you to look up the verse and read it yourself. He didn’t even say anything remotely offensive.

If you’re so offended by another human being referencing something you do not believe in that you have to resort to calling him names and provoking an argument, you may not be the type of person who should be around firearms…

        James all:ofit

        • No one ‘pooped in my pajamas'(brillliant by the way) but I take every chance I can to confront those who promote that immoral and hateful book, just as I do with those who promote the Koran.. Of course he has every right to do so just as I have every right to confront him.

        • “I take every chance I can to confront those who promote that immoral and hateful book…”

Don’t worry, mate, the dictionary has you covered: “Asshole” is word you’re looking for. It’s a versatile noun that can be used to describe 1: The anus, 2: A foolish, contemptible person, or 3: You.

        • “Of course he has every right to do so just as I have every right to confront him.”

You’re right on that. But you still come off as a huge jackass.

      • If you are trying to convince people that you’ve actually read the Bible, never mind studied it, you’re off to a bad start.

        • Ehh… actually he’s kind of right.

It never ceases to amaze me how many professed “Christians” don’t understand the absence of sin hierarchy. Plus, there are unicorns in the old testament that were changed to “oxen” in the NIV. The original word is actually not translatable since the animal doesn’t exist anymore but they changed it to “oxen” so vanillas don’t get upset.

        • @TheBear: He claims: “And if you come back with the new testament/old testament argument, you definately haven’t studied your bible.”

Every Christian tradition since the Judaizers has had reasons for applying the NT differently than the OT. Every. Single. One. So every Christian who has ever lived has “definately” not studied his Bible?

          How about:
“God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.” (‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭1-2‬ NASB)

This is just a deeply unserious critique of the Bible.

        • @John – I think you misunderstood the nature of my comment.

I was agreeing with him that an awful lot of “Christians” don’t even really know what they hell they “believe” and have only the most crude understanding of the holy book they claim to believe.

I especially love how many obese, smoking, tattooed people in the south say nasty things about gay people. There are an awful lot of people who identify as a religion without really knowing much about it.

There are really intelligent, educated religious people, but not many of them (comparatively).

        • @Taylor –

Vanillas are what I call people who don’t think outside the box and only accept the Bible because they grew up with it.

They think nothing of believing in a virgin Birth ordered by God, and in spiritual beings (angels) who are supposed to be really powerful up to and including creating hurricanes, but can be wrestled to a standstill by Jacob overnight (???). But you mention unicorns in the Bible… (Like Numbers 23:22 etc)

On the subject of unicorns, Vanillas would say, “Whoo wee! That’s weird! Oh, wait, it’s ‘oxen’, see? It’s ok now.” The fact that the original word is for an animal that does not exist anymore and “oxen” is not the correct translation doesn’t bother these types of people, because “oxen” is safe, and normal, and vanilla.

These are also the same people who get offended when Atheists (I am not one) say things about “God Magic” in the Bible but then themselves call events in the Bible “Miracles” or pray for miracles like the word used makes a difference.

Lot’s wife turning to a pillar of salt? Totally not magic. They don’t know what to call it, but it’s NOT magic, because magic is weird and admitting they believe in it makes them feel silly.

Those of us who have really, truly studied the Bible (I consider myself one), have come face to face with conflicting logic and historical inaccuracies (like the Jews being freed from Egypt).

People who come to this point have 3 reactions. They either deepen their faith and find ways around the issues they came across, they reject their faith altogether, or they find a new way of thinking that makes sense to them (I am of the third group). I think the same thing happens with people who study evolution really deeply, because it’s bullshit too.

Anyway, too much typing. Hope that helps.

        • @TheBear: The truth is that very few people truly think out their own beliefs on things. Most people work on cant, whether learned from their parents or adopted from a peer group they want to be “in” with.

How many atheistic materialists have really thought through the problems with abiogenesis? Some, certainly, but very few.

This is why groups need good leaders.

        • @John

          I agree with you.

It’s funny when I talk to evolutionist Atheists who feel superior to spiritual people and ask them the fundamental question, “How can you believe in spontaneous generation?”

…because that is the fundamental basis for hard core evolutionist beliefs – life came from non-life. Life coming from non-life is just as, if not more magical and improbable than some of the things these types of people arrogantly make fun of Deists for believing.

      • To sum up:

The Bible is invalid because it condones slavery and homophobia.

Jefferson is brilliant even though he owned slaves and was most likely homophobic.

      • Wow, someone pulled a Piers Morgan really fast. “Im right your wrong, no debate, your not entitled to you own opinions, end of discussion!”

      • He’s just mad a priest touched him while he was an altar boy. Now he’s on an atheist crusade to bravely battle peoples beliefs on the internet like a true warrior. Most likely, he’s that “evangelical atheist” type that preaches so much they done even realize they’re behaving religiously.

      • Hark! But thy sharp wit and clever mind once again doth render us stupefied! I humbly bow at thy feet in honour of thine absolute mastery of rhetoric and argument! Prithee wouldst thou share thine infinite knowledge with us, thy humble followers; for we are but a foolish and superstitious lot!

      • Easy there killer. Confirmation bias much?

Besides, “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly” seems pretty appropriate given the thread.

If you want to shit on religion, go harass the keyboard warriors on Youtube.

      • Spoken like someone who’s never read more than a few lines of the bible…this is a website for talking guns…not bashing someone’s religion. The quote is “As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” Just because you don’t like the person quoting the book doesn’t mean you need to insult them. I should also add that the Constitution of the United States is heavily influenced by concepts in the Bible…just remember that.

    • “And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter.”

      -Thomas Jefferson

You are promoting the ascendance of our republic to religous nonsense and superstition and you don’t even know it or realize why. Religous nonsense is the last thing that should be promoted in a free society and my favorite founders Jefferson and Paine understood that. Please don’t come back with your own quote from Jefferson unless you understand the man. Unless you understand why he took a razor and sliced out every verse of superstitous nonsense in the New Testament in order to create the Jefferson Bible. If you don’t understand why this great man of reason did such a thing then keep your mouth shut. The Bible is the absolute last book that any enlightened reasonable person should look to in order to gain wisdom. Believe it or not Adams and Jefferson both had fears about turning the country over to simple minded religous people. Adams himself stated that a part of him wanted the British to win the revolution to teach the drunks and superstitous religous people a lesson. Keep your sheep herder wisdom to yourself.

      • “I am anxious to see the doctrine of one god commenced in our state. But the population of my neighborhood is too slender, and is too much divided into other sects to maintain any one preacher well. I must therefore be contented to be an Unitarian by myself, altho I know there are many around me who would become so, if once they could hear the questions fairly stated.” –Thomas Jefferson

Sorry 2maik7, your quote was nothing more than Jefferson criticizing the concept of the Trinity. He believed in Jesus Christ and the Judeo-Christian god, but that the Bible itself was flawed because it was written by fallible men. He thus made the Jefferson Bible which corrected their supposed mistakes.

      • Stop being a troll. The achievements of atheism have been no better or less monstrous than those of religion. The former USSR and China being the strongest arguments against scientific atheism. Religion has people like Mother Theresa, Mohatma Gandhi, Oskar Schindler. Who does Athiesm have?
Besides which? NOT F-NG GUN RELATED. Please just stop talking. No one cares.

        • Pearls before swine. I don’t bother debating internet trolls. Especially a fool who compares Christianity to the Muslim religion.

      • Didn’t you just question the Bible’s authority because it treats slavery as a typical, if unfortunate, human practice?

Didn’t Jefferson treat slavery as a typical, if unfortunate, human practice?

        Just asking.

      • Obviously… You know nothing of Jefferson’ reasons for ‘editing’ the Bible. Drop your hate and study with an open mind and heart. Hate if you must but own it. Don’t hide behind lies about a great man.

      • “Please don’t come back with your own quote from Jefferson unless you understand the man. Because I understand him more than you! My ancestors had a beer with him once, and they passed down all of the knowledge that he shared with him…. And I think that if you quote anything from him that supports your argument, then I will have to find more quotes, because I have nothing better to do than respond to every argument against my beliefs on TTAG, thanks and see you on the next post down”

        That sounds like you.

    • I’ve been reading the responses with great interest. Some crazy button got pushed somehow… and it looks like I must have pooped in somebody’s pajamas! LOL

I wonder if the replies would have been more tame if I quoted the ancient Mesopotamian wisdom without leaving a reference. Like this:

“As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool returns to his folly.” (ancient Mesopotamian wisdom)

This, of course, was the first thing I though of when I saw FPS Russia continuing to do unsafe things with guns, regardless of who gets injured. Possibly killed? (emphasis on the question mark)

So, to everyone on the board (and especially to 2maik7), I am deeply sorry the biblical reference was so dramatically offensive. It was never intended to be. That said, however, I make absolutely no apology whatsoever for having faith in Jesus as my friend, savior, and revered King of the Universe. If that offends you too, there is nothing I will do about it beyond assuring you; no offense was ever, ever intended.

I will say this: Relationship and Religion (both of which can be honored Faithfully) are two profoundly different things. We would all do well to understand the difference.

      • Well said, my friend. I WOULD say “A hearty amen to that!” but that sort of talk could ignite the Second Civil War, from the looks of this comment thread.

As for you, 2maik7, Jesus Christ doesn’t require you to believe in Him in order to exist. 🙂 A lot of commenters seem anxious to diagnose you, but the truth of the matter is that a relationship with God can mend a broken spirit. Don’t knock it til you try it! 😉

As for the video itself, indeed FPSrussia seems unsafe! He better give me all of those delicious firearms and let me demonstrate how one can safely blow things up. I’ll perform totally-believable feats of non-daring ammunition dumps, decked with the latest in safety gear and wielding a faux Australian accent.

  1. I’m at a loss as to why he demos and endorses G2 RIP Ammo? I guess maybe for the “gee whiz” effect. Gold Dots don’t have that gee-whiz factor but do the job better.

      • He appeared to be reacting just to save his vision. I don’t think he would have pissed himself until after watching the footage in slow motion and then butt stroking his special effects guy with the high powered rifle.

I will say that level of ice water is either brave or foolish and the line is too blurry for me to see the difference. Though…I like that rifle, incidentally.

  2. He’s a douchebag. Why people watch his crap is a mystery to me.
I’m sure he loves it when RF brings him more views, though.

  3. Who actually gives a rat’s rear if he shrapnels himself while shooting video – he’s a big boy. Unless he’s endangering other non-consenting people, critters, or property, I’d say you should just STFU. I don’t see other gun blogs making a living out of picking this website apart from all the idiocy that occurs among the “Armed Intelligentsia” (rolling eyes….)

    • Now, now, FPS; just because you have very bad day, there’s no need for the temper. Alleged adults consent to a lot of foolish, irresponsible and dangerous things, but that doesn’t make any of them acceptable, and they still deserve every bit of the scorn heaped upon them by non-stupids.

  4. So who is going to mourn when he blows himself up? No one watching his antics looks to him for safety tips. Just mindless entertainment 🙂

  5. There’s not a lot of difference between this stuff and Evel Knievel’s stunts, or Annie Oakley making trick shots at a cigarette in her husband’s mouth. It’s part of the part he plays for entertainment purposes. Russians have a reputation for ignoring safety. (If you don’t believe this, just look at their military aircraft design during the Cold War).

Yeah, setting a good example and all that, but people have done far more dangerous things in the name of entertainment. You’re just picking on him because of the perceived damage he could do to the image responsible gun owners.

A lot of the regular safety precautions would be incongruent with the whole Russian theme and silly accent.

  6. I’ve never shot .45 suppressed without ear protection. But with subsonic 300 BLK and subsonic 22 a suppressor drops the noise enough that ear protection is optional.

  7. I still like the one where he pulls an AA-12 out of a barrel full of water and lets ‘er rip. The lack of recoil is pretty cool too.

  8. He’s just a guy having some fun blowing crap up. I don’t take most of his video’s too seriously. I watch for amusement.

  9. He’s only got like a million views on that one video…. and 48k likes… Nobody is watching him…:)

How’s the visitor count looking on ye ole TTAG here I wonder…

  10. we all shoot things for fun. did he know it would ricochet hitting the keg? no, but did he stop? as well as hearing protection…..its his ears. some of the stuff he is shooting suppressed. do you rag on the military for not wearing ear protection in combat? ive seen an 0351 shoot a SMAW rocket and he was bleeding out of his ears and had 0 hearing for a very long time. some people practice like in a real life situation. if an intruder entered your home, are you going to toss in some plugs? get real. we get it, you have a bone to pick with him, but he still is popular and has a large audience. if anything, you look like a school boy, trying to single him out “Teacher, teacher! FPS Russia doesnt wear hearing protection and isnt 100% safe!” grow up, man.

  11. Uhh…first of all…45acp is sub sonic so with a suppressor, you don’t need hearing protection. Second, he explains how bullets are unpredictable and can bounce so he is actually doing a service to the shooting community. I shot my 9mm at a target near the ground from 10 yards and the bullet skipped off the moist soil, bounced off a tree and landed 2 yards in front of me. Never thought that would happen. You learn by doing or by watching what others do. How is that irresponsible?
Hickok45 shoots steel at close range and does not use “ears” with a suppressed firearm. I think this TTAG IGOD is ridiculous

  12. RF’s post pointed out ear pro because suppressors diminish noise. They don’t cancel it. Ear pro is still recommended.

But that wasn’t the main beef. Firing 45 bullets at a steel keg from what, 15 feet? Disregarding safety measures gets people killed. FPSR doesn’t need another firearms related death on their hands. POTG don’t want him to have another firearms related death, either. Its bad for everyone.

  13. That looks a lot like the steel range Iraqveteren8888 uses. Hope they weren’t there, I like those guys too much to see them hurt by that faux commie.

  14. Due to his knowledge of firearms and tannerite, Kyle is exempt from your ear, eye and general firearms safety rules. …/sarc
I give the guy some credit, between his you-tube channels, developing video games and blowing crap up, he has lasted far longer than a lot of internet gunslingers…

  15. i have always hated FPSRussia, never could quite put a finger on it never could stand to even look at him. Good to know other responsible non-idiot gun owners feel the same way.

  16. Robert, you are aware he is firing suppressed weapons, don’t you? A lot of stuff this guy doesn’t isn’t even remotely intended to be repeated at home. When was the last time you went through a White Castle drive thru in a Stuart Tank?

  17. I’m pretty sure this blog is one of the very last that should be talking about the faults of another and the amount of misinformation TTAG produces on a regular basis makes this particular entry like it look like juvenile whining. Hey, let’s bust out with some Remington and TSA news too while you’re scraping the bottom of the content barrel? I mean, it’s entertaining to a certain degree but I don’t look to TTAG as a factual source of information anymore than I would FPRussian.

You’re kinda both on the same level, which makes this all the more amusing.

  18. FPSRussia just does what the rest of us wish but can’t, won’t or unwilling to do. Let’s not pretend there isn’t a cottage industry of fools willing to put themselves into harm’s way for the sole purpose of entertaining others, and aren’t firearms related.
