In the cartoon above, the Kitsap Sun newspaper is laying the blame for the murder of two-year-old Kaden Lum at the feet of “America’s gun culture.” It’s the same baseless smear mooted by Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams in a child death negligent discharge – only with a gleeful eagle/devil image. It’s important to notice that the cartoonist didn’t blame crime or even guns — he (or she or it) blamed gun “culture.” Yes, this is a culture war, pure and simple. They hate us and would prefer to see us gone, by any means necessary.

I live in Kitsap County and Kitsap Sun is run by a bunch of raving lunatic liberals. They were and still are 100% for Gun Control. On the plus side I’m also pretty sure the Kitsap Sun is is doing about as well as the rest of the dead tree media, which is to say they are in critical condition. I only go to their website to check the obits once in a while. Most of their site is pay to view and I only heard about this because it was picked up and ran by their competition in Seattle.

Yep, this guy is spot on. I lived in Bremerton for most of my life. Both Bremerton and Kitsap County as a whole are overwhelmingly conservative – especially considering the three major Navy bases and healthy military population in the area.
Kitsap Sun just doesn’t know when to shut up. Their editors went gun control crazy after Sandy Hook, and even after getting smashed by readers in their online comments, they just kept at it. Kitsap Sun has been dying as a local paper for years. They try so hard to be Seattle Times Jr. but it’s not what the community needs or wants.
I don’t live in Kitsap County any more, but I used to check up on the Sun’s page every now and then to see what was going on around there. Now you can’t even read news stories without being a subscriber. Forget it.
