Aussie swimmers Nick D’Arcy and Kenrick Monk have created some serious undergarment torqueage and set disapproving tongues a-wagging back home in Oz by posing with – gasp! – guns, then having the effrontery to post the offensive snaps on their Facebook pages. The two were training in California and apparently took advantage of the relative freedom afforded by even that gun-unfriendly state compared to their hoplophobic home down under. “‘These postings today are foolish and clearly inappropriate for members of the 2012 Australian Olympic Team,’ said Australian chef de mission Nick Green. ‘Anything that is not in the Olympic spirit, or does not follow our guidelines will come down.'” Harrumph! “It’s a disgrace to the Olympic swimming team,” (Gun Control Australia spokesman John) Crook said. “I doubt they have the moral sensitivity to be concerned about human suffering.” As Sgt. Hulka would have growled so eloquently, lighten up, Francis.

Pipe down, you two. The adults who aren’t afraid of inanimate objects are talking.

    • That’s why the big boys who run the gun shop ensured the weapons weren’t loaded prior to handing them over to the lads. Tiresome. Really tiresome.

      • Considering where they come from, is this a surprise to anyone? I’ll bet its probably illegal in Austrailia to even say the word “gun” in some places.

  2. The are posing like a couple of gangsta wanna-bees. Still, the so-called adults down in OZ are over-reacting and either ignorant or dishonest.

    • The bloviating OZ blabberers are neither ignorant nor dishonest. However, they are shmucks.

Funny, they didn’t seem so hoplophobic when the Imperial Japanese Army was breathing down their necks.

  3. The reason Australians seem to be “over-reacting” is that these two kids are notoriously unpopular troublemakers that many feel shouldn’t have been allowed to represent their country. Swimmers have a much bigger public profile down under which might help explain the level of reaction to this.

  4. I wonder if they’re offended when they post pictures of them near cars, since far more people are killed in car accidents a year than by gun accidents.

  5. Well, I was going to read the linked article to see what all the fuss was about but I only needed the first sentence.

“The pair smile smugly holding automatic pistols and pump-action shot guns similar to those used in the Virginia Tech and Port Arthur massacres.”

    🙄

  6. What purpose does Gun Control Australia serve, except for keeping a boot on the few gun owners left? I bet they have nice offices across the street from the state house.

  7. You know that they killed the real crocodile Dondee (that the movie was of) his crime he did not turn in his guns, so the Ausie cops killed him in cold blood , ambush attack… so much for down under… they lost all freedoms long ago,,, and coming next to Amerika……Mrs Clinton says you have no right to have guns… the U.N. will take care of you… like in New World Order (police state)……………

  8. Australia competes in Trap, Skeet, Rifle, Air Rifle and Pistol in the Olympics….and there are pics of their athletes holding guns on the Austrailiam Olympic website.

    Hyprocrites

  9. Far more children die by unattended backyard pools than they do by firearms in this and probably most countries.

  10. It pains me to see what a horribly brainwashed society Australia has become. A once proud country, steeped in the traditions of liberty, hunting for food and sport, and independence; has turned into a bastion of overreaching socialist groupthink. The fact that those two young swimmers felt compelled to apologize makes me absolutely sick. For your sake and the sake of your children, do not let Australia become another arm of the globalist socialist UN. Maintain your independence. Maintain your liberty. Remain individuals.
A wiser man than you or me once said:
“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government” — Thomas Jefferson, 1 Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  11. I am fully insulted by this picture. How could sports heroes like this endorse the wearing of FLEECE PULLOVERS?!

Don’t they know that every year TENS, maybe HUNDREDS of people, some of them sweet, innocent children, are burned to death after they get to close to a open flame?!

  12. Political correctness running amok. Aussie Olympic swimmers posed for photos (legally) holding guns in a shop in the U.S., and that merits ejection from the Olympic swimming team???

Ironically, the FIRST medals scheduled to be awarded in the summer Olympics (on the first day of competition) are for archery, judo, fencing, and…. SHOOTING…. all “martial arts.”

I wonder what would happen if the shooting team members posed for photos in Speedo swim suits???

    Really, Australia???

  13. The fact is the media, GCA and Nick Green are the only ones that got in a tizzy about this.
Polls were in the reign of 75% of people didn’t care they had guns. Nearly all of the comments were asking why this photo was even news.

The only person who should be sacked is Nick Green, he has just went an alienated the entire Australian Olympic Shooting Team.

I am furious how us firearm owners are treated. If owning firearms made you a specific race or religion we’d be able to sue for defamation!
