  1. Criminals can rest assured that most of those homes are probably gun free.

BTW, this reminds me of something the Sons of Liberty might do, among other things, if they existed in the modern era and were tech-savvy.

      • I find myself in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with S. is E.. We are at war. And there’s no nice way to fight or win a war.

        • Most everyone wants to take the noble high road and repeat statistics ad nauseum, which no one on the left pays any attention to. We had better learn to fight down and dirty like our opposition does. Battles and wars like NFL football games are won in the trenches.

Make this woman who saved herself and her twins this weekend, with a DGU, into a poster child for the cause. And others like her as DGU’s are happening everyday (2.5m DGU’s per yr.).

Then how about all OUR legislators filing their own bill’s and flooding the house and senate with them.

Let’s put gun grabber’s on the defensive for once! After all we didn’t win WW2 by staying in Pearl Harbour or GB for four years.

        • War doesn’t have rules to protect your enemy from you, it has rules to protect your soul from war. If any of these people are hurt because of this information its publishers will have to live with that knowledge, as will TTAG for republishing it here.

We fight for our ideals tooth and nail, but we don’t do so by putting other people, even our opponents, in jeopardy! All the (rightful) outrage over Journal New’s map doesn’t matter anymore because we just approved of that evil tactic.

If you were against what Journal News did in the first place but approve of this then you are a hypocrite. Society hates hypocrites and disregards their opinions. You have just weakened our cause by associating it with hypocrisy.

I like TTAG, its a great website, the writers are typically rather careful about what they publish and are not afraid to retract mistakes. This is a good thing. But you guys have really failed this time.

    • War has rules, gentlemen. And they aren’t to protect your opponents from you, but to protect your soul from war. If you want to call it a war, fine, but fight it cleanly. Lord_Platypus is exactly right.

      • I’d be all choked up by the loss of Urinal News people. Sorry, I’m not that “good” of a person. As to my soles? they are fine, I’m Gellin, Randy

      • No one wins a war by fighting “cleanly”. You win a war by fighting harder and dirtier than your opposition.

They started this by publishing those names, if they don’t like it, they shouldn’t have done it. The golden rule and all…

Now with that being said, with any luck, no more names and lists will be published, and we can get back to be (moderately) civil to one another.

I would prefer it to keep a “nuclear option” in reserve, just in case. Perhaps maybe the names and addresses of every member of the Brady Campaign? Something akin to Mutually Assured Destruction…

    • Speaking as someone who values the first amendment at least as much as the second, there is not a thing wrong with publishing this turnabout map. If there had been compelling reason, in terms of newsworthiness, for the Journal-News to publish their map, I would have said the same. There is no piece of information worth knowing that SOMEONE is not going to bitch about it when it is publicized.

Simply OWNING guns — very common in our society — is not in any way newsworthy. So to me, their primary sin is bad journalism. The information is totally useless for any legit purpose. It is a stunt. But this is clearly public information they published, regardless of what anyone thinks about it.

    • F them. Treason is a killing offense. While I would normally agree that this is an over the top tactic, there are no rules in total war, and that is where we are at. Sad but true.

    • Here is his contact info. I guess he has also received a lot of calls regarding his comments. He recently wrote another attempting to back peddle on everything he said before.

  2. Why would you partake in behavior that you recently went on condemning in several posts? The writers on this blog hold a double standard when it comes to journalistic integrity, with the frequent accusations/retractions and now this nonsense…

      • Right on. F those people at the Journal News. Let’em know what it feels like. Do onto others…you know the rest.

Besides it’s obviously easily obtained public knowledge…it’s not like someone hacked a gov’t database.

    • They’d most likely cheer seeing you, a gun-owning prole, in chains and being carted off to the big house. Or being put in an institution. These people are vile. **** them.

      • Compromising your integrity to “prove a point” or “get” your opposition is indicative of complete weakness. This blog and its readers should be better than that.

        • My integrity says to burn their office to the ground. Some said that was a bit extreme. This is a nice compromise.

        • When fighting an opponent with no integrity taking a high road is a failing option. I can get into the gutter and fight dirty just like them, but at the end of the day I can climb back out because I have integrity, something they can not claim.

      • The Journal News people don’t care! They seem to think this sort of information is just fine.

We’re not ‘stooping to their level’ – we’re giving them what they want. We’re nice like that.

    • Pretty sure that recent posts while disagreeing with the info being posted stated general agreement with the ability to post it under the 1st.

      • The ability to do something doesn’t mean you should or it is a good idea. You complain about endangering people who own guns by posting their names and locations, but have no problem doing the very same thing to the people working at the newspaper, who may or may not have had anything to do with the article. You put additional people in potential danger for what? To “prove a point”? To say “Fuck those guys!”?

Responding with equally shitty behavior just makes you an asshole. It doesn’t prove anything or benefit your side in any way.

        • I may not agree with what you’ve said above fully, but I will agree that people who work at the paper who had NOTHING to do with the article or the map should not have their information outed.

        • well, according to the reasoning in the comments under the previous posts which opposed the posting of the permit holder map, whoever (re)posts the map of the papers employees should go to jail for gross negligence and endangering them as it’s just a matter of time until such incitement results in one of them or their families being harmed or killed.

        • as it’s just a matter of time until such incitement results in one of them or their families being harmed or killed.

          Karma. It’s a bitch.

        • Curzen,
Let’s suppose none of this had ever happened. If that were the case… and had TTAG (or another pro-gun entity or person) found an anti-gun news outlet and done the same I would have been the first to protest that act as reckless, underhanded, discriminatory and unsafe. However, that is not what happened. This paper launched an assault on the privacy and welfare of their local gun owners, not to mention the unarmed who now are stark targets. If they weren’t willing to suffer the same consequences then they shouldn’t have resorted to those tactics. Period.

Ralph is correct. They are being treated in the same manner that they treated others. They deserve every ounce of exposure, discomfort and uncertainty. Perhaps now that they do not enjoy the immunity of their ivory tower they will learn not to recklessly harm others out of fear, bigotry and ignorance.

    • If you fight by Marquess de Queensbury rules while your opponent fights MMA style then all you are going to be is an honorable loser. This is about deterrence. In order to make the game fair when your opponent plays dirty you have to punch back twice as hard. If he knows that is what is going to happen if he cheats then he will stick to the rules.

As General Omar Bradley said “There is no runner up on the battlefield.”

    • Yeah, I’ve called most of the clowns on the list at 2 in the morning, just to “check that you really live at so and so address and street”. Annoyed quite a few of these “journalists”. Good times!!!

  3. The “high road” argument has gotten lots of good men killed by our Afghan “partners”. We had better learn how to fight or do the “right” thing and quit now.

    • Maybe you are a criminal, but speak for yourself. They probably have very nice journalist stuff and are unarmed. You didnt hear it from me though.

  4. You just said it RF: Turnabout IS fair-play. And wait all the bad guys know they have no guns. Every robber must be drooling at this map of rich liberal reporters.

  5. It makes me happy to think about the employees of that paper lying awake at night fearing for their safety and that of their families. Now they know how many of those gun owners have felt in the past weeks. F*ck them.

    • Makes ya wonder what NYS’s ‘Use of Force’ laws are……I don’t think rent a cop can act like Lash LaRue so easily…..

    • Good. Maybe now they’ll realize that everything has a price. “The public has a right to know.” Sure they do. So we shared some of YOUR info with the world. Suck it!

    • Funny, I called that progression a while back. It is, however, the ultimate check-mate on their argument. Though of course they will see it precisely as the opposite.

  6. How about somebody picketing the editors’ homes. “Baby Killers” and “Helping Criminals” would be a nice start for placards. Can’t stop a peaceful demonstration: First Amendment and all that…

  7. Could someone please make one of these for politicians? And TSA? Oh, also, IRS, FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, DHS, and DMV?

Okay, okay, that last one is just ’cause I hate waiting in line.

  8. Based on the newsfeeds, this whole issue is biting us on the butt, again. Apparently they have received lots of death threats, threats against their families, white powder sent to them, etc.

So, once again, our own are hurting us. Now if Colt would just produce a pistol that came with a few brain cells for the brainless.

Oh yeah, if that happened, Robert would have no IGOTD to report on.

    • Stop being a wuss JPD. These journalist clowns are likely overblowing a few people politely voicing their opinions regarding their ridiculous Alinsky tactics against gun owners.

      • I would tend to believe that over real death threats but you never know..
I am wondering how long it will be until they change their numbers and go unlisted lol

    • If you believe the mendacious bastards at that propaganda rag, the New York Times, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you.

  9. I love this site for its passion and the role it’s played in what can only be called the most important battle for civil rights in the United States since the 1960s. And while the maxim “turnabout is fair play” is self-evident, I can’t help but be ashamed of this. I think, RF, that you must be as well, given your laconic delivery here. I understand that this is mere reportage, but maybe there is a line that the largest gun enthusiasm/rights voice in the known universe should not cross.

    • Too late. If they don’t like the shoe being on the other foot, f^ck ’em. The Journal started this game with no regard for the people whose information they published. In this life, sometimes you reap what you sew.

      • this is not a high school prank. these are highly educated people who can sit down and think through the (ir)rationality of their actions. Moreover, if you read the (canned) FOIA requst that Dwight sent, they have legal counsel assisting them and they know exactly what they want when they threatened the county clerks with suits if the info was not produced in a “editable” form. FVCK THEM. I will not cry if something happens to them or a loved one. Yes, it is un-Christianlike, but Jesus knows I am prayerful and working through my demons.

      • Agreed. Whatever Walter, they drew first blood. If they don’t like it, then perhaps they should consider the second and third order consequences of their actions. You can only be a raging a$$hole for so long before someone smacks you in the fvcking mouth, even if that smack is electronic.

This is how I see this:

        NY LIBERALS:

“Hey, all firearms must be registered and all people must be granted the prior consent of the State in order to exercise the RTKABA. Additionally, only celebrities, the mega rich and government elites will be issued CHLs.”

        NY CONSERVATIVES, LIBERTARIANS, GUN OWNERS:

“Ummm, we’re not so sure those are good ideas… for anyone really. Seems like a lot could go wrong”

        NY LIBERALS:

“STFU proles! We are the power-elite and you shall do what the empire commands! Besides, you guys are crazy… gun registrations only makee people safer. Stop worrying and trust the state. 2+2=5…”

        JOURNAL NEWS:

“SHABAM BlTCHES! Your permits are public knowledge and we hate you! FOAD!”

        NY CONSERVATIVES, LIBERTARIANS, GUN OWNERS:

        “Sigh…”

        • I can’t speak for those in the great State of New York City as I live in Upstate New York where the resistance to the anti-gunners is MUCH stronger. New York has a similar problem to Chicago in Illinois, the tail (NYC) wags the dog (New York) because it has the population and political power to run roughshod over most of the rest of the state.

        • I cant help it…I’m so sorry. After two uses something must be done!

It’s ‘sow’, as in sowing a field. (Reap what you sow). Not ‘sew’, as in fixing your clothes.

          OhThankGoodness

    • Ok Walter, I agree on the sense that his is not what you would call adult civil behavior.
Let me make this perfectly clear. The Journal News lost it’s journalistic integrity when they pulled this stunt. They have endangered the lives of over 8,000 LEO’s and prison guards as well as those people’s families.
Sure it is public domain, but so is the information posted above! So yes turn about as childish as it may seem is fair play. They went out of their way to demonized and criminalize law abiding gun owners simply because they own a piece of plastic and metal that this group feels as inappropriate.
I am sorry if that offends some but really they need to learn if you poke the tiger in the eye you are going to get bitten!

      • Sanchanim, You are right, they lost their journalistic integrity.

Also, you should understand that I laughed heartily when I read about the bloggers revenge, it it certainly ‘fair’ play. My points are only about the ethics and morality of the situations. While revenge does make things ‘fair’ it does not necessarily make it morally right or ethical.

    • It is a lesson, maybe a real tough one, hopefully one that will be remembered by the grabbers though, Randy

  10. Maybe the problem here is too much freedom of the press. After all, the 1st amendment was written in an age when nobody envisioned the Internet. We should interpret the 1st amendment to bring it more in line with the modern era…just like liberals want to do with the 2nd amendment. Somehow, I think the hag who runs that rag won’t agree with me.

  11. Well done and Bravo!!

They don’t feel they’re putting gun owners in any danger so I’m sure this doesn’t put any of their employees in any danger.

  12. Socialist can break any law, moral or otherwise. Look at obama and his boot lickers. While the rest have to follow the law. Case in point look at the liberals and congress. Congress can do insider trading while the rest of us can’t. Feinstein wants to ban guns while she carries one. Carry a 30 round mag. in DC and see if you don’t get busted, while a liberal reported can break the law.

  13. Who are you penalizing and/or terrorizing? The decision-makers or some junior reporter or sales-person supporting a family on a pittance from a crappy suburban newspaper?

Yeah, definitely ashamed to be in the “community” today. Good work.

    • Publicizing this public information isn’t terrorizing anyone. The public has a right to know where the anti-liberty henchman of the statists hail from.

      • I sense that you are another person who lives by the ‘turnabout is fair play’ axim but feels that the The Journal News was wrong for publishing their map, yet thinks it ok to do to the ‘anti-liberty henchman of the statists’ . How do you justify those positions?

        • From the movie “Clerks”:

Randal: So they build another Death Star, right?

          Dante: Yeah.

Randal: Now the first one they built was completed and fully operational before the Rebels destroyed it.

Dante: Luke blew it up. Give credit where it’s due.

Randal:And the second one was still being built when they blew it up.

          Dante: Compliments of Lando Calrissian.

Randal: Something just never sat right with me the second time they destroyed it. I could never put my finger on it-something just wasn’t right.

Dante: And you figured it out?

Randal: Well, the thing is, the first Death Star was manned by the Imperial army-storm troopers, dignitaries- the only people on board were Imperials.

          Dante: Basically.

Randal: So when they blew it up, no prob. Evil is punished.

Dante: And the second time around…?

Randal: The second time around, it wasn’t even
finished yet. They were still under construction.

          Dante: So?

Randal: A construction job of that magnitude would require a helluva lot more manpower than the Imperial army had to offer. I’ll bet there were independent contractors working on that thing: plumbers, aluminum siders, roofers.

Dante: Not just Imperials, is what you’re getting at.

Randal: Exactly. In order to get it built quickly and quietly they’d hire anybody who could do the job. Do you think the average storm trooper knows how to install a toilet main? All they know is killing and white uniforms.

Dante: All right, so even if independent contractors are working on the Death Star, why are you uneasy with its destruction?

Randal: All those innocent contractors hired to do a job were killed- casualties of a war they had nothing to do with. (notices Dante’s confusion) All right, look-you’re a roofer, and some juicy government contract comes your way; you got the wife and kids and the two-story in suburbia-this is a government contract, which means all sorts of benefits. All of a sudden these left-wing militants blast you with lasers and wipe out everyone within a three-mile radius. You didn’t ask for that. You have no personal politics. You’re just trying to scrape out a living.

(The Blue-Collar Man (Thomas Burke) joins them.)

Blue-Collar Man: Excuse me. I don’t mean to interrupt, but what were you talking about?

Randal: The ending of Return of the Jedi.

Dante: My friend is trying to convince me that any contractors working on the uncompleted Death Star were innocent victims when the space station was destroyed by the rebels.

Blue-Collar Man: Well, I’m a contractor myself. I’m a roofer… (digs into pocket and produces business card) Dunn and Reddy Home Improvements. And speaking as a roofer, I can say that a roofer’s personal politics come heavily into play when choosing jobs.

          Randal: Like when?

Blue-Collar Man: Three months ago I was offered a job up in the hills. A beautiful house with tons of property. It was a simple reshingling job, but I was told that if it was finished within a day, my price would be doubled. Then I realized whose house it was.

          Dante: Whose house was it?

          Blue-Collar Man: Dominick Bambino’s.

          Randal: “Babyface” Bambino? The gangster?

Blue-Collar Man: The same. The money was right, but the risk was too big. I knew who he was, and based on that, I passed the job on to a friend of mine.

          Dante: Based on personal politics.

Blue-Collar Man: Right. And that week, the Foresci family put a hit on Babyface’s house. My friend was shot and killed. He wasn’t even finished shingling.

          Randal: No way!

Blue-Collar Man: (paying for coffee) I’m alive because I knew there were risks involved taking on that particular client. My friend wasn’t so lucky. (pauses to reflect) You know, any contractor willing to work on that Death Star knew the risks. If they were killed, it was their own fault. A roofer listens to this… (taps his heart) not his wallet.

    • In this day and age with the level of information access we have on everybody, they had to know something like this could happen.

They have offered no apologies for their conduct and, in fact, have threatened to expand their list, so I seen no reason not to publish this information.

  14. They fight their fight using Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”
We should fight ours with Sun Tzu’s “Art of War!”
“If you sit by the river long enough, the bodies of your enemies will float by.”

  15. Either list identifies homes with or supposedly without guns. Why they would want to expose themselves to burglary is beyond me. I know which list I would use.

It’s the old, they were wrong first, argument. They just want to report what other people do and not be in the limelight themselves.

    Serves em right, I say!
