Winter for gun owners in Illinois is usually the season of gun shows, an opportunity to catch up on reloading, or dreaming about that next gun you can’t live without. This winter is different. Calling our legislators, attending town hall meetings and keeping our friends informed on the latest news from Springfield has occupied most of our free time. Early December brought news from the 7th Circuit that Illinois would finally have concealed carry. Then came Sandy Hook. Like the rest of the country, emotion ruled the day in Illinois and one bad gun law after the next began to take form in Springfield. But they were beaten back after calls, emails and visits from Illinois gun owners. Which brings me to March 6th and Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day . . .
Since the first IGOLD in 2007 the number of 2nd Amendment defenders showing up in Springfield has grown nearly tenfold. An estimated 10,000 people showed up last year, and this year has the potential to be even bigger. Every gun owner in Illinois has a duty to be there and make our voice louder than ever. Make plans to be in Springfield tomorrow. The doors to the Prairie Capitol Convention Center open at 10:45 am for an 11:30 meeting before we head out at 1:00 to make our presence felt at the Capitol Building. We hope to see you there.

This is an email I am sending out to all Illinois State Representatives. I am asking all Americans to stand up and be counted. It is not time to run and hide, it is time to Fight for our rights.
I am writing this letter to let all State representatives know that I am a law abiding citizen, I am not a criminal as Lisa Madigan and all the other power hungry Democrats have implied. This letter is in response to the Democratic tyranny that has overcome the United States, which are no longer United I might ad. why do I call it Democratic, I think that is purely obvious. It is imperative that the American citizens stand together and stop this Tyranny. Democrats have given the illusion that they have the best interest of the citizens in mind when in fact the ultimate goal of the liberal democratic agenda is a complete and total dominance of society.
The liberal democrats have actually demonstrated that as long as they are in control they will tax and regulate America into a third world communist state, in which I am sure is the underling goal of the Civilian disarmament agenda. Democrats have proven to be Elitist, believing that they are above the citizens, when in fact they have proven that the Democratic party is as corrupt and dangerous as Adolf Hitler as well as the White House plan for globalization. America was never intended to be controlled by the UN. America’s current Government officials have lost their compass some how…

There is only one reason that the civilian disarmament lead by Fanatical Diane Feinstein has taken Precedence over even our Economy. It is to dominate and destroy American ideals. In my opinion as well as millions of others, any legislation against the Second amendment amounts to treason and any public official that furthers this agenda should be arrested for treason and prosecuted.

Started out okay. But the part that starts in ALL CAPS, and mixes our constitutionally guaranteed 2nd amendment rights up with immigration and civil union matters, will lose a lot of readers. Including me.
Why can’t we separate these issues? I think that it is very detrimental to the 2A cause to mix them up. Why can’t I believe in fixing the immigration system, letting gays get married if it works for them, and still believe passionately in the RKBA?
I cringe every time someone starts putting additional labels on civilian disarmament proponents. I know for a fact there there are quite a few progressives and liberals who staunchly defend the citizen’s right to keep and shoot whatever type of weapon they desire. Without capacity or style restrictions. Without additional registrations, limits, checks, etc.
There are plenty of other forums where you can trash immigrants and homosexuals to your hearts content. I come here for one reason, and that’s to keep abreast on the developments in firearms and the right to keep and bear them. When you intermix these issues, you only serve to drive some people away. You are certainly not going to find like minded people who will be swayed over to the pro 2A side by your add-on issues.
I think that the same principle applies to dealing with elected politicians. Of course, those are your opinions, and you are more than welcome to them. These are just mine.

This kind of demonstration can now be handled expeditiously by the Illinois State Police, with Eric Holder’s assistance. Just declare that everyone out demonstrating is an “extremist”, round them up and hold them indefinitely in the INS centers that were recently emptied of illegal aliens. See? No problemo for the anti-gun politicians of Chicago.

I come to this site to read and learn about firearm related topics, period. Attempted civilian disarmament is the big problem being discussed here. There are much better venues for discussing the rest of anybody’s agenda.
