At least the people of Illinois now know – in no uncertain terms – exactly what their elected representatives think of them. Or what Highland Park’s Representative Karen May thinks of them, anyway. And she found out at a recent town hall meeting what a lot of annoyed Illinoisans think of her…

It appears that the natives in the Land of Lincoln are getting a little restless. Now that Wisconsin’s new law has left the moribund Prairie State the only one in the union without at least some form of concealed carry, elected opponents of gun rights are hearing about it from their constituents. And the folks in Springfield don’t like it.

One attendee at May’s meeting told her:

“At my age, I cannot run to save my life,” Hanover Park resident Leonard Czerechowicz said before the public meeting began. “If I was attacked, I wouldn’t be able to defend myself.”

[Another person] asked May why Illinois wouldn’t be able to manage effectively a conceal-carry law if 49 other states currently have the regulatory framework on the books. The Evanston resident said May’s opposition is actually an extreme position given the national support of conceal and carry. I don’t understand what makes Illinois less responsible.

All May could manage was, “we are a very different state,” prompting one of two outbursts of guffaws and ridicule from the unwashed masses.

So that’s it in a nutshell, Illini. You’re really just a pathetic bunch of moronic louts. Such a dumb aggregation of nincompoopery, in fact, that Illinois is at the bottom of the barrel, competence-wise. The only collection of boobs and clodhoppers so vile that they really can’t be trusted to deal with a pistol. So put a cork in it and stop your infernal whining.

May finally grew tired of all the impertinent questioning.

I get mail about the budget, I get mail about pensions, I get mail about education, I get mail about providing human services and education…I do not want to spend a whole hour discussing conceal carry because it’s not the No. 1 issue for this district.

You see, she gets to decide what’s important and what isn’t. What those attending her town halls can discuss and what they can’t. Don’t like it? Well, you can stuff it. Just make sure you keep paying your taxes.

  1. This wack job should be wearing the ‘HAMMER & SICKLE’ from those COMMIES in RED CHINA, not our great flag.

  2. Under the circumstances, I think that she’s going to be looking for a new job come the next election cycle.

  3. Her attitude about the residents of Illinois might be right. After all this the state that gave us Rahm Emanuel, Rod Blogoyevich and Barak Obama.

    • And Hillary Clinton, Richard M. Daley, Richard J. Daley, Jesse Jackson, John Podesta, Saul Alinsky, Theodore Kaczynski, John Wayne Gacy, Jeff Fort, and Jose Padilla (aka Abdullah al-Muhajir). Just wanted to make sure the list was a bit more complete.

  4. Don’t bet on it. recently moved to Chicago and Illinois = state of Chicago and a lot of unconstitutional Daley leftovers. The lawsuits have been filed and they will be forced kicking and screaming to restore citizen rights. 7th District Court decision against chicago requiring range qualification to own a firearm in the home, but banned non-leo ranges in the city. Our IL NRA guy said bloomberg ought to “sh!tting bricks” because of how pro-2nd amendment their decision was.

  5. I nominate Karen May (or may not?) as our first IDBOTD. That would be the Imperious Douche Bag of the Day. All in favor, say “aye.”

  6. Rep. May can’t speak for Illinois. She can speak for the Bolshevist Left of Crook County but NOT Illinois. Illinois and Crook County are 2 VASTLY different entities that have no business being lumped together.

  7. This excuse is getting old. Gov Cristie (New Jersey) said pretty much the same thing, and he’s a Republican (granted, a Jersey Rebulican is probably more left leaning than a Texas Democrat).
I also hear this from some NJ gun owners. They think that there will be road rage shootings all over the place. Yes, we’re packed in pretty tight here in Jersey and traffic is a killer, but not in a literal sense of the word.

  8. Hey! Don’t LEAVE the state! We need all the 2nd Amendment supporters we can get! In fact, I invite progunners from Indiana and Ohio to move here before 2012, register to vote, to help us turf Chicagoland antigun poiticians out on their butts! Write your state reps and senators! Express your feelings regarding the fact we are the only state left with no form of cc law! Challenge them to show empirically just how Illinois is so different from the rest of the country!

Activism is the only way those of us NOT in Cook county will be able to drown out the voices of those politicians who seek to rule the rest of the state with their outdated and out-of-touch ideas of crime prevention.

Write letters, emails, make phone calls to their Springfield offices and their home town offices. And any of you in district 12 (or any other district) who want to help get the pro-gun/pro-carry word out feel free to contact NRA-ILA Grassroots! Tell them TerminusEst sent you!

As a resident of Illinois, I want to be offended by this paragraph. As someone who was raised elsewhere (Washington State) and traveled the world in the Marine Corps, I want to agree … At least, in part. The majority of Illnioisians do seem to fit this discription–although nearly anyone could LEARN to handle a firearm responsibly, I wouldn’t trust any Chicagoan I know with a gun at their current levels of competance. If I had to wager a guess, I’d put the percentage of dimwits in this state at about 55%. Shame for the 45% of the reasonable population that are consistantly overruled in the legislature by the dimwit-majority Chicago area.

  10. Saw a bumper sticker a few years ago that said “Next election, vote with your RIFLE”. Wonder if it meant taking it to the polls with you?

  11. Cut Illinois of at I80. Let Chitcago be it’s own state. They can have their own little fiefdom and leave the rest of the state alone. Then they can do away with a bunch of those idiot gun laws like the FOID card.

  12. Boycott Ill-annoy. Don’t visit Chicago, don’t fly United or through O’Hare or Midway, boycott all Motorola products, don’t shop at Sears or K-Mart until they move out of the state or buy Sara Lee bread, Mitsubishi cars or produce from here. If the state – and Chicago in particular – get hit harder in the wallet, this tune will change. Please remember that the great Ronald Reagan defeated the Communist Empire without firing a shot, and quite peacefully – by forcing them to go bankrupt. Americans who live in the 49 free states can help those of us who are unfortunate enough to live here by doing the same thing – very peacefully – to the only Communist holdout territory in the great US of A.

FYI, I live in Chicago IL myself. 🙂
