“The Shin Bet, together with the IDF, has seized dozens of homemade weapons and gun-making equipment in Palestinian cities in the West Bank over the past few months,” timesofisrael.com‘ reports. “Improvised submachine guns, based off the Carl Gustav design, have been used frequently and to devastating effect in the ongoing wave of violence.” Most recently . . .

two Palestinian terrorists opened fire with two Carl Gustav submachine guns at a city bus in the Ramot neighborhood of Jerusalem and then at police officers near the Old City. During the firefight, an elderly Arab Israeli man was seriously injured.

Guns used by two Palestinians who carried out a shooting attack on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 (Israel Police)

The day before, a Palestinian gunman shot and seriously injured two police officers with a Carl Gustav-style submachine gun in a drive-by shooting in East Jerusalem.

Three terrorists armed with such guns also shot and killed 19-year-old Border Police officer Hadar Cohen in February.

Some 68 shooting attacks have been carried out in the West Bank and Jerusalem since October 1, many of them with this kind of fabricated gun, the IDF said in a statement.

I wonder which is harder to get in the Holy Land: getting an Israeli concealed carry permit or a homemade sub-machine gun.

  1. Hmm, interesting. Both sides need to be armed against the other for self defense. Unfortunately it is a holy war that will go on for another thousand years, and people on both sides will continue to be violent.

    • Wrong numbnutz. If the arabs put down their weapons there would be peace. If the Jews, put down their weapons there would be no Jews.

      • Maybe. There is a lot more to it, but the expanding settlements make me wonder what would happen if the Palestinians put their guns down.

Frankly, the best thing to happen to the Israelis has been the propensity for violence shown by the Palestinians. A handful of, major, peaceful demonstrations would likely cause a massive shift in public opinion on the part of the fence sitters.

        • “but, but the expanding settlements make me wonder what would happen if the Palestinians put their guns down. ”

          You are a MORON.

“the expanding settlements” are on land THAT WAS JEWISH FOR >1600 years before moHAMhead should have run down his father’s leg.

And what are you hinting at? That the Jews would massacre the jihadistinians” That more people would have sympathy for the jihadistinains?

You are an ignorant fool and deserve every jihadi attack on your OWN TOWN AND HOME..

There is over 20 x the land area surrounding Israel THAT IS VACANT AND AVAILABLE FOR MUSLIMS,

          Israel IS FOR THE JEWS

        • @joe3

How does your philosophy extend to the Americas, where whites have only inhabited it for 500 years?

        • You know joe3, your dream of a racially pure nation-state “over there” aside, I’d really like to hear your answer to his question. Donated any land to the nearest native rez lately?

        • ““the expanding settlements” are on land THAT WAS JEWISH FOR >1600 years”

Joe3, a tenant of Islam is that if land was *ever* held by followers of The Prophet, that land is *forever* the rightful property of Islam.

Since every square centimeter of land for hundreds, if not thousands of kilometers (in some cases) has been conquered and held by Islam at some point over the last 2,000-odd years, *all* of that land, INCLUDING ISRAEL ITSELF, is rightfully Islam land, according to followers of the Religion of Peace (more accurately translated, the Religion of Complete and Total Submission to Allah).

I don’t agree with their view, but that is their position.

          Get it?

      • The Jews have the power to wipe the Arabs off the face of the earth, completely destroy the middle east, but do they use it? No. If the Arabs had the power to wipe Israel off the map with a single press of a button would they use it? I think so.

The only things ensuring Israel’s existence is the lack of Arab WMDs, and the support of the USA. But it seems both of those are beginning to wane.

      • Wow, great oversimplification.

The Israeli government has been taking land from the Palestinian natives in the name of Zionism for almost 70 years now. That is why the Palestinians are fighting back.

As in most conflicts, the majority on both sides just want to live in peace, while the zealous, fearful, or just plain stupid minorities on each side keep screwing everything up.

        • You know nothing of which you speak. The “Arabs” live on Jewish land. Jordan is the “Palestinian” homeland.

        • Is that “Stan” as in Pakistan, jihadiStan, KoranusStan, or STUPID MARXIST STAN, aligned with the jihadis who would wipe out America and Israel.

          Hey Stan, SUCK ON THIS:

ZIONISM = ONE STATE FOR THE JEWS.

There are over FIFTY MUSLIM STATES, but your little jihadistinian you fellate with your very post, NEVER HAVE ENOUGH.

          Israel is FOR THE JEWS.

Muslim and their marxist trash boyfriends can get off the bus.

        • There is no such thing as a “Palestinian native” because there was no such thing as “Palestine”. Sorry bro, but you don’t get to claim land that doesn’t belong to you just because you happen to live there.

      • So it’s ok to resort to ad hominem attacks. That’s fine but the Jewish people aren’t 100% innocent in the violence. I’m not saying that the Palestinian people aren’t responsible for a very large majority of the violence but both sides will continue to fight as long as the other side is still breathing. The way I see it is all people have the right to self defense by using the most effective means possible, and just because you’re a member of a culture/relgious group/ or race that promotes violence, it doesn’t automatically make you a promotor of that violence. By your logic it would be ok to continue gun bans in cities like Chicago because the locals have a higher rate of gang violence.

        • Wow, more attacks. Can you actually provide a convincing argument? Or will you just attack the temperature of my testicles and level of my intelligence. If you honestly believe that the country of Israel and it’s citizens are always only defending themselves that is totally one-sided thinking. Please read history to see who conquered the area last (hint it wasn’t the Jewish people). I support Israel now, but it was decided by the League of nations a long time before I was born. Palestine’s Muslim population holding a grudge means there will be terrorists, but doesn’t mean that non-violent Palestinian people deserve to be disarmed.

        • Let me simple it up for you.

There are two types of muslims.

The radical muslim who wants to kill you and rape your goat.
The “moderate” muslim who wants the radical to kill you and rape your goat.

Neither should be allowed to have access to anything more dangerous than a pointy stick. They can have their rights back as soon as they regain their sanity and abandon the religion of child molestation, terrorism, and mass murder. I don’t judge people based on who they are. I judge people based on what they believe.

        • @pwrsurge I am not advocating the Muslim religious beliefs I am advocating that all humans should have the right to self defense. Your comments are hypocritical. It’s not OK for Muslims to kill others but it’s fine to make sure that Muslims are not able to protect themselves from people who want to do them harm (unless they are using a sharp stick). Again, I am not for Islam and I am not against Israel but I believe that the right to keep and bear arms is a God given right, no matter what your God’s name is.

        • >> Neither should be allowed to have access to anything more dangerous than a pointy stick. They can have their rights back as soon as they regain their sanity and abandon the religion of child molestation, terrorism, and mass murder.

So, pwrserge, do you believe that American citizens who happen to be Muslims should be banned from possessing or carrying firearms?

        • IIRC animeserge openly supports revoking citizenship based on having Islamic religious beliefs of any stripe. So he disrespects the 1st and 2nd.

Usually he’ll argue Islam isn’t really a religion but a hateful political system so it doesn’t deserve freedom of religion. Of course the 1A covers politics as well as religion, so, lol.

        • @Jeff
We all agree that certain people can be denied their right to keep and bear arms based on past or current behavior. (Or do you think that paranoid schizophrenics who refute to take their meds should have guns?) Following the teachings Islam is one of those behaviors. It is a vile, hate filled cult that has no business existing. Since we can’t eliminate it from the face of the planet, as would be prudent, we can at least make sure that their ability to do damage is minimized.

          @int19h
That’s right. I don’t care what nationality you are. If you’re unhinged enough to follow a “religion” created by a mass murderer, rapist, and child molester, you are clearly not mentally competent to keep and bear arms.

          @DMZ
Ah… We start with an ad-hominem… Do I even need to explain why your entire argument after that is irrelevant?

        • “The “moderate” muslim who wants the radical to kill you and rape your goat.”

pwrserge, it’s a bit more nuanced than that.

A moderate Muslim will do nothing while the radicalized Muslim will kill you and rape your goat…

        • Sorry Geoff… What you’re describing is the magical rainbow-farting unicorn called a “liberal muslim”… Yeah, I didn’t think that was possible either. I would think the cognitive dissonance would make their heads explode.

          https://youtu.be/ecJUqhm2g08

      • That is one of the most idiotic statements I’ve heard. Israeli settlers continue to drive people off their lands and to set fire to their crops and the military just stands by and watches. Israel continues talking peace while they continue to drive people off their land and you expect them to not react violently? The failure of Israel to give a proper outlet to grievances that people have has driven Palestinians into the arms of Hamas.

No, if Palestinians put down their arms, they would see themselves driven off their lands little by little. Peace isn’t worth living with a boot on your neck, especially from an apartheid state like Israel.

        • They are not “their lands” to begin with. Those lands belonged to Ottoman landlords from whom they were purchased before WWI. Sorry bro, but squatters don’t have property rights.

        • So, I guess you don’t believe that private property exists, then? Since, I guess the state, according to you, has the power to sell the land from underneath you.

        • Sorry bro, I wasn’t talking about the state. The locals in the region were basically sharecroppers. Hey did not own the land.

      • Anyone who “puts their guns down” get either 1) killed, or 2) Enslaved. No exceptions. Ever. There are no “good governments.” Just various Men on TV suckering the weak of reasoning to fall for the claim that there are. To make the whole enslaving part easier to achieve.

      • No, I’m saying that the Palestinian people not murdering people/terrorists deserve to be armed for self defense. Either against other Arabian peoples or against Jewish people that would do them harm. Again no one is innocent!

    • Ahahahahaha. The opinion of anyone commenting on that conflict and says “Jews” as if they behave as a monolithic entity can be disregarded.

Amusingly that would be almost the entire American internet commentariat.

        • CUE DAMAGE CONTROL!!!! 🙂

Is Israel not run by a representative government? Do the representatives not hold a variety of views, just like “the Jews” themselves? If you got news from anywhere besides neocon mouthpieces, you would know a significant population of Israeli Jews have no interest in peace whatsoever.

        • You know, if I said the US was a WHITE (lolcaps) nation, people might accuse me of racism. You wouldn’t happen to be some sort of racist, would you, Stan?

  2. Some 68 shooting attacks have been carried out in the West Bank and Jerusalem since October 1,
Chicago beats these amateurs easily. About 3000 shooting victims a year in the Windy City.

  3. This is not an appropriate article for TTAG.

There is a huge difference between seizing weapons in the US, when we have the 2d Amendment….AND the Israeli’s in what is essentially a war zone, seizing weapons from combatants using them to conduct military operations against Israeli people and interests.

  4. Seize away. Israel is fighting for their very existence. Having 100-500 tactical nukes(?) has a lot to do with the lack of full scale assaults on the holyland. I didn’t see any Jewish folks celebrating after 9/11 either. The only country worth a damn in the middle east(Jordan is sort of OK)Btw RF that’s a bizarre comparison you threw in. Didn’t have CC in Illinois until quite recently. And Israel has a long socialist/commie/kibbutz history…Bernie Sanders anyone?

  5. The moral of the story for us is that people who want guns will get them. Illegal manufacture in basement machine shops is one way. Smuggling from outside the country, thefts from armories, and robbing the bodies of murdered police officers are others. The gun grabbers are constitutionally unable to figure this out.

  6. Who gives a sht? N blah blah blah. America is loosing what great heroes died for. Im a pussy, ur a pussy. Guts to give up what we got for what we stand for. The future,….Im cocked n loaded. Mmmmm I bringing u down. Just an outlaw, they call me long haired hippie. Im the horse you aint never rid before. Im full of southeren pride. Ooooohh yeah

  7. Top to bottom, this has got to be the stupidest set of comments I’ve ever seen on TTAG. And that’s really saying something.

  8. I find it amazing that flame wars are phrohibited on this site when it comes to certain subjects, but flaming is allowed on others.

Are Americans the only people that have a natural, innate right to weapons for self defense? I guess it would totally depend on your perspective.

    Flame away

    • See my comments above. The 2A should not be a magical thing that disappears at our country’s border. It should extend to every human on earth.

      • If they want it they will have to fight for it. Freedom is not free. The US. Constitution stops at the border. But targeting city buses with bombs and the targeted killing of school children is not a war for freedom.

        • The constitution stops at the border but it’s first two Amendments are ideas should be guaranteed globally. Never once have I said terrorism is OK, only that the people that haven’t been convicted of terrorism have a right to self defense. Besides enough terrorists getting plugged may change some minds.

        • Again Jeff, there is no such thing as a non-terrorist muslim. At best, they are sad, deluded people completely ignorant of what their religion commands and supports.

    • The reality is that ONLY the US has a Constitution that actually protects the right to keep and bear Arms for the regular Citizen. While some countries have had the right in their Constitutions in the past only Mexico and Guatemala retain it and we know Mexico has severely regulated the right. Israel’s Constitution does not specify the right and its Department of the Interior regulates firearms ownership, limiting it to certain classes of persons, only.
The ideal that the right to self defense is a Natural Right of Humans and applies to everyone seems to be unique to the American mindset nowadays. Other realities seem to dispute this when you observe the proliferation of guns in the Middle East and Africa among common folks, but a closer look reveals many of those guns are not owned but issued by militarized political groups, “militias” and various iterations of “warlords”, while the ordinary folks may remain largely unarmed.
So, the belief the 2nd Amendment does not end at our border is ideologically true, but the reality for the rest of the World is very different and that definitely includes Israel.
Israel is invoking its prerogative to defend the Israeli State from “hostiles” when it sends its Military to seize Palestinian Arms and arms-making equipment. That’s reality and the ideological aspects there, as elsewhere, are rendered moot just as all our screaming about what 2A “means” are rendered moot by the infringements imposed on us in reality and our acquiescence to them in our obedience to these infringements.

    • I have no problem with ‘Palestinians’ (sic) defending themselves. I do have a problem with their occupation of Judea and Samaria however. Why don’t they just emigrate to Europe like all the rest of the reasonably ambulatory vermin from the Levant, South Asia, North Africa, et al are doing?

  9. Please be honest stop being so uptight. It is true, the people who are leading the movement to disarm law abiding civilians are Jewish and atheist. They are as proud to say it as they are to take your gun rights away.
But the Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, a group I joined in 1994 has been fighting against these anti freedom people for a long time now. Also the Second Amendment Foundation founded by Alan Gottlieb, a wonderful Jewish lawyer who along with others was been winning cases across America defending everyone’s right to keep and bear arms.
Both groups could use your help.

  10. Holy shit these comments…the raw amount of blind and irrational anger, personal attacks, blatant racism, and practically bot like nature of some posters in throwing out buzzword accusations is mind boggling, not to mention the total ignorance of the history of the region and double-think cognitive dissonance on firearms ownership for others.

Is this what our community is like? You guys actually think this way and believe these things about each other?

I have never been more ashamed of gun owners as a group. I thought we were better than this, and I hope these comments never get seen elsewhere, this whole thread is gold for antigunners and sensationalists.

    • Islam is not a “race”, you can’t be racist against it by definition. I don’t particularly care what SJWs obsessed with calling for cultural suicide think. My family has been fighting Islam for literally centuries. (Go look up the reason why the Kuban Cossack host was formed.) I know better than to expect those cultists to change their behavior.

        • You don’t HAVE a point. You called out criticizing an ideology that has been trying to wipe out western civilization for over a millennium as “racist”…

Again, smart one, you can’t be racist against an ideology. I have no problem with Arab Christians or Jews. Why? Because you don’t see Christian or Jews strapping their twelve year olds with explosives or decapitating POWs on YouTube.

  11. My son was just in Israel a few weeks back. I haven’t been there since 73. He said from the Golan you could here booms and see columns of black smoke coming from Syria.

Israel is surrounded by people that would slaughter all Israeli’s if given the chance. At this point in the game I know there’s enough blame to go around on both sides. But as a person that has seen one nation overwhelming another(vietnam) I know the horrors that happen in those events.

So, I vote we support Israel and its people.
