Guys, you know that hot woman with whom you had a torrid affair that ended badly? That’s the Caracal C for me. A gun that gave me more pleasure and delivered more precision than any other pistol I’ve ever shot. We were meant for each other. Except, of course, we weren’t. Drop-safe issues, dontcha know. OK, kaboom too. Over the years, Caracal has touted the imminent reintroduction of their C. The pistol has never re-appeared – to the point where I’ve concluded that the rumors of her death were not greatly exaggerated. Oh look, here comes gunsandtactics.com with a press release Caracal Leaks Photos of New Pistols, Carbines & Rifles [after the jump]. On their Facebook page Caracal promises … who care what they promise? Send me the damn gun, bitch. Sorry. Off for some Wilson Combat therapy . . .

Las Vegas, NV –-(Ammoland.com)- The highly acclaimed and now largely unavailable Caracal pistol is making it’s way back to the USA.

According to a recent Facebook post from Jeff Spalding, Manager at Caracal USA;

“Please understand that Caracal International has every intention to support the US Market with quality pistols, rifles, and carbines in the near future. There are processes underway now that will allow us to do just that in a controlled, streamlined, and functional way.”

He went on to say “In order to accomplish this, we are in the process of establishing a stand-alone Caracal USA operation, which will be dedicated to the United States Commercial Market.”

So far there is no word on how soon new product will be available to consumers in the US market, but we’re waiting impatiently for any new announcements.

  3. I still might give them a try, but only after they have a product that’s proven reliable. Learning from other peoples’ misfortune is better than learning from your own, when possible. That’s how I avoided owning a Caracal before.

  4. Dude: Get over it.

    Striker-fired, injection-molded cheez-whiz isn’t exactly uncommon stuff in the 9mm wundergun market.

    • What’s your preference for a carry gun/caliber combo? I’d like to know what you feel most comfortable with, based on your vast knowledge and experience (since I will most likely never handle as many guns as you have).

      • I currently carry a Glock G36. In the near future, I’ll likely transition to a 1911 Commander.

        I’ve carried:

        – G19
        – G36
        – S&W 625
        – 1911 Government

        depending on the situation, with the latter two carried cross-draw on the belt, and the first two carried in shoulder holsters on my left. I’m not a fan of high-pressure rounds now that my tinnitus has gotten bad, which explains why I like .45 ACP and .45 Colt. I’d love it if someone made a reasonable .44 Special revolver. The Charter Arms offerings are a bit rough for my taste. If someone would build a modern version of the 1908 Colt Hammerless in 9mm, then I’d carry that.

        • Two cross-draw and two under the arms, all at once? Two more and you could be “Il-Duce”!

          All kidding aside, a modern 1908 hammerless would be awesome.

        • I like cross-draw rigs because then when I’m in a vehicle or sitting down, I just draw. Most all the confrontations in my life have started when I was sitting down. Responding to a fistfight from a seated position sucks. I’m large enough that most people don’t want to start something with me when I’m standing up. So I took my own history into consideration when deciding how to carry.

          With a cross-draw, I don’t need to telegraph what I’m doing by leaning forward, or hitching my hand/arm up into an unnatural orientation, etc. The 625 and 1911 go on belt-fixed crossdraw rigs (basically open carry if I’m not wearing a jacket), and the Glocks go into the shoulder holsters.

          My goal when carrying is to look like a harmless fuzzball.

  7. I’d still love to see how the quick sights would run for me. I’d also prefer they weren’t on a deathtrap of a pistol.

  11. Aww… Robert and his affinity for hot and amazing feeling but ultimately crazy and f*cked up companions that can’t be relied upon without worrying about it all blowing up.

    Been there RF, been there. I attract and am attracted to the crazy too.

    Stay strong man. Just say no to unstable. Don’t even think about it, because as Sun Tzu said, the battle is won or lost before it is even fought.

  14. Why in the hell would you buy a gun from the middle east? This was clearly done on purpose by terrorists in an attempt to kill Americans! (Puts back on tin foil hat and close door to bunker)

    • This is not a tin foil issue.
      The business of firearms, for many, I believe is a passion a way of life for AMERICANS.
      I CAN NOT DO NOT believe it is a way of life, but just a mere retail transaction for foreign Made or owned entities.
      And this, this is the reason I do not buy foreign made guns. They cannot appreciate what we have for they do not know what freedom tastes like.
      For Caracal it was just some guns, some cool wonder nines with an awesome sight that I hope falls into the public domain soon or someone else pays a royalty to make so we can have it on other, more reliable guns and then Caracal can fall off the earth.

That’s some seriously misplaced brand loyalty there, Robert… If I bought a gun (or any product, really) from a manufacturer that was that deeply flawed, and then they bungled fixing the problem as badly as Caracal did, I’d be done with ’em, permanently. It’s not like there aren’t several dozen other plastic 9mm pistols on the market.

  19. Robert, you are still jonesing for one of these? I thought you had gotten past it. There are so many other RELIABLE, WELL MADE pistols out there, that you should not even waste one brain cell thinking about getting a Caracal. You are just hurting yourself, so go get out your Wilson, or Springfield, or S&W, or Ruger, or Dan Wesson, and shoot safely with confidence and vigor!

  22. I just saw a list of the top 10 pistols under 500bucks. AND the caracal was on it(I think it was on yahoo). Well it looks cool…

  23. Can’t help but think they still look an awful lot like the Steyr M-series. I love my M9. Fantastic pistol, and no twisted head games that you get with Caracal. Heck, you don’t even need to wear a love glove before you empty your mag.

  24. Grow up and read some Jeff Cooper and Bill Jordan and learn to write and think like them. I know you’ll never learn to shoot like them. I don’t care and don’t want hear about your fucking sex life. And that goes whether you’re heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, zoosexual or transsexual.

  27. Part of my lust is the design. Developed by Wilhelm Bubits (refiner of the Glock, designer of the Steyr M ans S series, and the Walther PPS) it is the “ultimate” Glock that’s not a Glock.

    I’ve never shot one (held a few) but if they can actually get some reliable arms over here, I’d give them a shot.

    Now, if you want to see something ugly, search for the ISSC BB6. It’s Bubits’ newest design, and while I hope it shoots like a dream, it’s gotta be the ugliest plastic fantastic this side of a Highpoint.

  28. I really want to buy thier Bolt action rifle. It looks pretty nice to me. I cant get a hold of anyone at Caracal USA to get more information though. So what if it is made in the middle east.

  31. You would not be a fan of the Caracal C if you tried to do a detailed strip of it. Basically it was the equivalent of a clown car. Knock out this pin.. knock out that pin.. watch more pieces self-disassemble after knocking out a single pin. In my mind it ranked very low for modularity.

  32. Caracal is headquartered in UAE. The large majority of people that live in UAE are either slaves, pensioners, or street preachers (think UBL!). So where are the things actually made? Turkey?

  34. I’ve wanted one for years, I handled a full size one about 3 years ago & loved it, a lot.
    It’s like a perfect offspring of Glock & CZ. I’ve given up & moved on though, too many good guns out there to worry about one that is perpetually m.i.a.
    BTW, I think the proprietary “quick sights” are not going to be offered on future models – assuming we will ever really get another Caracal pistol in the states again anyway.
