Lately, it’s been a case of bury my inbox at Wounded Knee. In other words, I’ve been overwhelmed with incoming emails. So I’ve hired Frank Williams as TTAG’s Editor. Frank’s the former Managing Editor of The Truth About Cars. He’s not much of a gun guy—yet—but the retired Air Force vet is the most creative, hard-working and snarky bastard in blogging today. Aside from Dan, Nick, Chris, Ralph, Joe, James and all the other members of TTAG’s Armed Intelligentsia. Frank’s responsibilities are, uh, evolving. They include casting his eyes upon our tipsters’ tips (so to speak) and keeping track of who’s reviewing what. As always, the entire TTAG team remains dedicated to providing the best possible firearms-related content for our readers. Thank you for reading.

Silly rabbit politicians – 3D printers can’t be regulated. They can slap restrictions on the big units like what the Liberator was printed on, but the DIY models are open source machines that can be built with everyday hardware for less than $500. They aren’t as good as the unit the Liberator was made with yet, but they are getting better all the time. Unless they want to implement background checks on purchases of threaded rod, hex nuts, and plywood, there is simply no way to control who has one.
With all the small polymer frame auto pistols out there nowaday (I have a Kahr), why would you even attempt to carry something like that in your pocket?
Welcome 🙂
Hi Frank,
If you live near the middle of PA, want to go to the range?
-D
Welcome! Someone get him a new shirt.
Maybe he’ll do something about the frequent typos, including the one in the title up top.
Made ya look! 😉
Welcome aboard Frank. now RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!! lol, just kidding.
I feel this guy did not really plan for the original test to prove the Hi Point anything other than a cheap piece of junk.
I own four Hi Points 380, 9mm, 45 and 4595.
They all work as advertised and are very accurate.
My two Rugers are simply more expensive not better.
Howdy from Western Colorado, Frank! Keep your eyes focused and your powder dry. Look forward to seeing what you’ve got.
Bob
Could this be ATK looking to build themselves into a Freedom Group killer?
Probably just the opposite. Cerberus Capital, TFG’s parent, has already announced that it’s exiting the firearms business. I’m thinking that Norwest Equity Partners, Savage’s current owner, is doing the same.
Keeping and bearing arms is a fundamental human right, like engaging in amorous activities with your wife, writing a letter to the editor, or teaching your children your religious faith. If permission OF ANY KIND is required from a third party, that is an abrogation of the right, full stop.
I should not have to ask for anyone’s permission in order to exercise a fundamental human right.
Do I encourage newbs to get some training? Sure. Might someone be found negligent and liable for damages if they don’t get basic training and then engage in some foolishness? Sure. Those are very different questions from whether or not prior restraint on the exercise of a fundamental right is okay.
Welcome aboard, Frank! Get yerself some camo and a “shoot me first” vest. Hang a big ol’ pistol from a duty belt with a nice leather holster. You’re gonna like the way you look.
Oh, and don’t stand in front of a moving car.
I sent her a thank you note. As near as I can tell NH is the last bastion of freedom in the northeast. Some of us take “Live Free or Die” very, very seriously. If you’re an out of stater, look into the Free State project. They’re having a festival of gun nuts and gay rights activists and potheads and home schoolers and other libertarian types in June. I hope to make it 🙂
Only issues I’ve had with my 4th Gen G23 is that my grip would engage the slide stop, no big deal. 1,000 rounds fired after I pulled it out of the box, I didn’t wipe down the gun. No issues other than my grip. I’m now 5k down and zero issues. My S&W Shield in 9 ran the same tests. I removed the grip sleeve on the extended mag and slammed it in once and the mag went past the release and wedged itself in the extractor.
Welcome aboard, sir.
Thanks TTAG…that was some seriously satisfying and much needed Gun Porn!
Hope it was as good for you as it was for me 🙂
welcome, hmm, what is the best firearm to herd cats with? buy that.
Welcome aboard, Frank!
I’m liking the fact we are seeing more gun reviews than doom and gloom gun grabber articles. Let’s just hope the senate and the mayors against legal guns can fade away so we can see even more. Having said that, I thought this was A neat little gun. Then I scrolled to the end of the article and saw the price! Dang!
The more the merrier.
Welcome aboard Frank.
I will no longer use Square for my business. Guess they can kiss that $15K in fees goodbye.
So colt sells the mustang to Sig. Sig makes a metric asston of money with it. Now colt releases a worse version for more money….I’m missing something here right?
Anyway pocket .380’s are old hat now. With better designed 9mm and even the XDs/Kahr in 45 ACP. This is a product 3-4 years too late to market.
I wrote the AP today. To make a long story short, I asked them “how does it feel?”
Told them that it “seems reasonable” and that maybe it will “save one child”…
Should have bought… an AK!
Heh. 😉
