  1. If this comes to pass and Trump signs off on it, it will guarantee his loss in 2020. I’m also not sure how the numbers work out, but it will probably lead to the GOP losing the senate as well. In which case we’ll have President Kamala Harris or someone similar with a Democrat-controlled legislature. Then things will get sporting.

    • ” TAKE guns first …. have Due Process Later ” — and — ” Bump stocks will be gone ”
Donald John Trump , alleged defender of the 2ND Amendment. ( eat schiitt potus )

NO Mr. President , YOU will be gone. Congress makes the law, it’s not a ” Deal ” , it’s not negotiable either. Simply ‘ ordering ‘ D.O.J. & criminal fraud non agency , B.A.T.F. to alter definitions does not compel …. ” WE THE PEOPLE ” … to recognize it as legitimate !

      Good piece by Federalist.

      • We experimented with the slide fire and a AR-15. “I would argue that from a practicality perspective for someone who was challenged in a way that they couldn’t get something that was legitimately full auto for a squad automatic weapon ….. an AR-15 or derivative thereof with slide fire could be applied”
        Karl Kasarda, Ian McCollum

When Karl and Ian think that a Slide Fire equipped AR-15 can be used as a SAW, why do you ever think they will stay legal after Vegas

    • Think of it this way, everyone here vote democrat in 2020 and give them a full sweep. Just hear me out. Let the democrats take it all and just give them a chance. Trump and the GOP has betrayed you all. The democrats will do no such thing. Sure you will lose a fair amount of gun rights but that’s ok, you’ll be permitted to keep some after the proper licenseing, training and registration. If your cooperative in the process of passing the bill you may even get lucky enough for a gun buyback scheme where we could get the government to reimburse you for the guns you hand over. In the long term you’ll learn that this was the better way. Once taxes are raised we can implement socialized healthcare then you won’t have to worry about paying for healthcare anymore because it’ll be free. You’ll have more money to spend on the ammo for the guns your allowed to have. Cooperating and supporting the coming gun safety measures is truly in your best interest because America is now on an unstoppable liberal march towards the future. It’s best to join it and get a seat at the table then oppose it and end up a felon.

      • “Cooperating and supporting the coming gun safety measures is truly in your best interest because America is now on an unstoppable liberal march towards the future.”

You don’t seem to understand something –

If you try that, it’s gonna get very, very ugly for you…

        • That really looks like the work of “2ASux”, if you read it closely. Anyway, pretty sure it’s firmly tongue-in-cheek.

          Especially with the handle.

        • I agree fellow American. I take that as an anti-American threat against our Liberty, Freedom’s, and rights by anti-American threats both foreign and domestic. This commenter said get in line and sit at the table. Sounds like someone stating that they will be authoritarian government moving in soon. all the more reason to stand and fight with your fellow Americans. Any questions look to the Declaration of Independence. I will be looking to our fellow veterans and our American Military help keep America free!

      • If the Senate passes and POTUS signs gun control BS such as will be proposed, I would seriously consider this suggestion. However, I think the commie asshat quoted is speaking only of the House passing his horseshit, not suggesting it could ever become law.

      • “Once taxes are raised we can implement socialized healthcare then you won’t have to worry about paying for healthcare anymore because it’ll be free.”

I’m guessing the whole thing to be heavy sarcasm since no one in their right mind would actually produce the sentence I’ve quoted here. I mean, it literally says “Once you pay for something it becomes free”. Even Feinstein and Schumer wouldn’t say something that transparently false/stupid.

The only creature stupid enough to say something like this would be that Ocasio-Cortez lady and I don’t see her posting on TTAG because I don’t figure she’s smart enough to figure out a keyboard.

        • “I’m guessing the whole thing to be heavy sarcasm since no one in their right mind would actually produce the sentence I’ve quoted here.”

Hard to tell sometimes, these days. I used to love reading the people’s cube

          http://thepeoplescube.com/

for their wonderful satire. But as reality increasingly comes to resemble hyperbole and satire, it’s not as funny anymore.

      • I’d guesstimate that 60% or so of the regular commenters here will be dead in 10 years or less, they’ve got nothing to gain by following your advice, amusing as it may be.

      • Is this satire or trolling? Not sure which. Either way, a lot of us older guys, that have a lot of guns, have accomplished pretty much what we set out to do in life. We see our friends dropping dead fairly regularly. We do want the best possible future for our offspring and descendants but we’re not afraid to see things get interesting. We do need purpose in life, so if your liberal march is so inevitable, might as well go out having some fun.

    • Repeat after me…”For profit prison’s” Guns had little to do with the election. I concur if Donnie signs off on guncontol I ain’t voting for his orangeness…

  2. “If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, so my child may know peace”. TP
“It is no longer enough to be willing to fight and die to protect our rights, one must be willing to kill for them, too”. IST

Plan accordingly folks, to DEFEND ourselves and our Constitutional Republic against their “War of Leftist Aggression”.

    • Most of the tough talkers here already have grandchildren in high school or older. If they wanted to change the course of history they should have had a go at it decades ago peacefully or otherwise. They envision a fantasy scenario where there grandchildren do the heavy lifting and take the dirt napp while they sit back at Montecito whine snobbing it and just take an actual napp.

  3. Just a friendly reminder that it takes 60 votes to bring any gun control legislation to a vote in the Senate. Still want to abolish the filibuster?

    • What I find baffling is that gun-owners seem oblivious to the fact that gun-control is within our grasp. But we won’t bother to reach-out and grab the brass ring.

There are 40 right-to-carry states that elect 80 senators. We need just 41 solid gun-rights senators – just over 1/2 of the senators from states we presume to hold a majority. With 41 senators we could largely bring any new legislation to a halt – legislation on just about any topic!

A simple majority of senators and representatives with a cooperative president could try to pass new gun-control legislation. And, they could succeed notwithstanding the filibuster. Yet, 41 senators could make the gun-controllers regret their attacks on the 2A. These 41 could stop other legislation that would gore the oxen of the gun-controlling senators.

Yet, we won’t awaken to this simple fact of our political system.

Gun owners holed-up behind enemy lines in blue states could send their campaign contributions to gun-rights supporters in red and purple states. Money alone wouldn’t necessarily buy all the elections we need; but, money would make it financially expensive to defy gun rights interests in the wrong states in the wrong elections. Eventually, discipline would register.

      • I’m not sure gun owners, per se, don’t understand your concept- more like a bunch of paronoids on this site who hate NRA, don’t want anyone in the world to know they own guns and have no idea how things either become law, remain law, get overturned in courts or are later rescinded. For a lot of these know-nothings but know-it-all, the semiauto ban back in 1993 was the end of the world and they still blame NRA for it, even though NRA workers made certain “assault weapons” were defined in such a narrow manner that the new law really did nothing at all. NRA lobbyist working with freinds in the House and Senate also made certain there was a 10 year sunset clause and today we have more and better options than we did before the “ban”. It’s very difficult to organize and try to get support from people who can only see 30 minutes into the future. QUICK!!! Run out and buy 3 more guns you won’t ever need/use and store up enough ammo under you bed to outfit a Central American banana republic military force.

  4. So the contrasting thought ought to be that “You put gun control in the ballot and you lost Senate seats coming directly from “gun control” positions. You Sir are an ignorant fool.

  5. I hate to say it but the Democrats are right that their Gun Control bills WILL PASS and WILL BE SIGNED.

    1) The Republican Party has no clue what to do with a majority — they have proved that every time they have held the majority. Every time they get resistance from the Democrats, they fold. The Senate majority OUGHT TO be strong enough to block Gun Control bills but there are far too many RINOs in the Senate.

    2) No matter how bad a bill the House Democrats pass, some idiot Republican in the Senate will buy into it, making it “Bi-Partisan” which is all the Democrats need to pressure the rest of them into passing something. Yes, the Senate will water it down a little but the Democrats have learned to be patient and just keep taking an inch at a time until they get their mile.

    3) The president is no friend of gun owners. He will sign whatever garbage the congress puts on his desk — especially due to #4.

    4) The NRA is no friend of gun owners. If anything, the NRA wanted the Democrat majority in the House because it gives them more fund raising opportunities. We have seen this time after time. Remember that NO anti-2A legislation has passed Congress in the last fifty years without being endorsed by the NRA! Yes, I said it, EVERY SINGLE anti-2A bill passed by the US Congress in the last fifty years was endorsed by the NRA as a “bi-partisan” “compromise.” All the Democrats need to do is to draft a bill with their entire wish list of gun bans and restrictions, the House will pass it, the Senate will water it down slightly, the NRA will hail the Senate version as the ‘best compromise we can get’ and the president will sign it.

    • The NRA and GOP stopped a flurry of Obama era anti gun legislation several times after sandy hook. I agree theyre not perfect but abandoning them with no clear alternative is simply foolish.

        • “SAF. GOA. JPFO. Shall I go on?” Sure- go on. List their accomplishments other than convincing nitwits that the NRA is soft, unreliable and some kind of commie plot against the Constitution. The Pratt- and Browntards have never run an action to a law from start to finish and never will.

Seriously- list their victories, innovative legislative agendas, map forward. Put thier actions where your mouth/keyboard is…

Money to them pretty much pays for their own personal lifestyles- ditto for those “organizations” run by the Dorr family freaks in IA (Iowa Gunowners.Org), MN, OH (I believe) and elsewhere. Aaron Dorr, who heads up the IGO isn’t even registered as a lobbyist- just stands around in the IA rotunda in his brown suit. He also is quiet any time he attends a hearing in any of the committees. Screams the sky is falling if some hick town council thinks about restricting citizen rights in their domain, then claims victory when they drop it. Forgets to tell his legion that IA preemption law prohibits such actions and that’s why they drop it when someone explains it to them.

        • Are you serious, or just uninformed? SAF is involved in more 2A litigation nationwide than all other advocacy groups combined. Get off your ass and do a little research. Start with a google search.

    • # 4. Now your getting it. NRA and manufacturers love controlled opposition. Trump was easy to support, they didn’t think he would actually win. What guys don’t get is that all their fevered spending sprees just perpetuate that cycle. When your buying all your “just in case” guns, ammo and mags, your causing that “case” to actually happen. As long as they can profit from your fear, they’ll give you just enough to be scared of.

      • GOA gets more of its proportional funds from gun makers. NRA gets the least proportion of money from industry of any of the top 50 membership based national advocacy groups.

Stop referring to NRA as gun manufacturers. NRA has 6 million members, which is by far the largest membership civil rights or civil liberties group and after AARP the second largest national membership group of any kind in the US. It has 58% public approvals among the total public as well. It takes hits and goes down a bit every once in a while but averages well over 55% approvals. Meaning 175 million Americans approve of the NRA.

    • 3) The president is no friend of gun owners. He will sign whatever garbage the congress puts on his desk — especially due to #4.

Just look at the judicial appointments relative to every other US president and it will show you have you are flat earth on the basic facts.

      4) The NRA is no friend of gun owners. If anything, the NRA wanted the Democrat majority in the House because it gives them more fund raising opportunities. We have seen this time after time.

That is just asinine. You could make that argument of every gun rights group and in fact every group there is. so TTAG, GOA, SAF, NRA all get more money when gun rights are threatened. OK, So What?

The lobby for more gun control got three times as much money in 2017 under Trump as it got in 2015 under Obama. I t is now over $700 million per year. There are now 32 gun control groups with over three million dollar budgets and nine with budgets over 50 million. Several with budgets over 200 million

Planned parenthood gets more money when someone like Trump is elected or Kavanaugh is nominated.
Open borders groups get more money too. Does that mean Planned parenthood and Soros are all conspiring to get conservatives in government and serve the conservative agenda?

Please don’t erect red herring arguments. What group on earth does not raise more money when the opposition is in power? it is meaningless point.

Do you even realize by your argument there should be NO gun rights advocacy groups?

  6. Let’s see, now- the article headlines says “House Democrats” and the quote is Senator Blumenthal… The Senate won’t go along with much of anything the demcrats pass in the House over the next two years- I don’t know why some of you go into panic mode everytime you see a proposed threat that won’t come to pass. These predictions have been going on in my adult lifetime since the early 1970s and we have many more very cool firearms options today than we ever have had, mandatory shall issue concealed carry in bout 42 states, an easing on suppressors, and the ability to get information out to huge numbers of targeted people almost instantly. Some of you must be heavy into global warming, too.

Biggest challenge I’ve seen on this site lately seems to be getting the short “edit window” button back.

  7. I guess they have forgotten that any bills have to go through the senate also. Must house anti-gun bills will be put in file 13 drawer.

    • This is just the flip side of the “RINOs lied about reciprocity” argument. Most of the people who post here are ignorant about the Constitution beyond the Second Amendment.

    • I seriously doubt Blumenthal knows that, and I’m almost positive he is unaware that the President might need to be involved. Being a crook and a liar is bad. Being a moron is sad. Being a Blumenthal is impossible to even understand. How can he keep getting elected?

      • How can [Blumenthal] keep getting elected?

I figure it should be obvious: but in case it isn’t, Blumenthal keeps getting elected because he runs for office in Connecticut and has a “D” after his name.

Hitler would win the federal senate election in Connecticut if he was the Democrat candidate.

      • “I seriously doubt Blumenthal knows that, and I’m almost positive he is unaware that the President might need to be involved.”

IMHO, Blumenthal knows this quite well. He’s not stupid. He’s preying on his voting base which has strong desires coupled with high levels of ignorance.

Pols on both sides constantly make promises that smart and informed people will immediately recognize as being promises which are impossible to keep. The pols make such promises on such a regular basis precisely because the people those promises are targeted at, a large percentage of Americans unfortunately, are NOT smart and informed.

  8. Ya gotta believe Blumenthal.
He spent more than 20 years bragging about his service in Vietnam.
He couldn’t find it on a map.
Now he preaches to others about honesty and integrity.

    Worthless bastard.

  9. House democrats have bills like free housing and slave reparations sitting around for years. None go up to the Senate. But if they can but massive gun bans on the dock it looks like they did something and that ditzy twit ocasio-cortez can brag about what she did.

    • Ocasio-Cortez is incredibly dangerous. Hard core Marxist and a Revolutionary. She is charismatic and fearless. The Communist lover her and will follow her. She is the type to lead a Revolution. Put her on the House Finance Committee with Maxine Waters as chairwoman, Ocasio-Cortez will be the brains. Maxine is corrupt and will follow her lead. Maxine will be the useful idiot.

Whether or not you like Trump we are living in an age of complete government lawlessness. The Marxist understand they can not oppress us as long as we are armed.
Civil war is inevitable. We may actually have to use the 2nd Amendment, at least those of us with the courage of our founding fathers.

      • Cortez is certifiable, and dumb as a post. She cannot math to save her life, and doesn’t understand math or what it might be used for. She confuses millions with trillions and throws billions around like confetti, I don’t think she is going to be taken seriously by anyone. I mean, I’m waiting for her to announce her plan to confiscate a trillion dollars from Donald Trump, allowing her to give 10 billion to every family in America and Mexico, every year. Some of her proposals will be found to cost in the quadrillions, because she is a MORON!

        • Larry in TX,

So, you are saying that Ocasio-Cortez is certifiable, dumb as a post, and a moron. Since when has that ever held back anyone from great heights in government office? If anything, it almost guarantees that she will rise to great heights.

        • Yep, she is all of that.

But because she looks good in a tight dress, she has an audience.

Look at how many people are still wearing Che t-shirts.

  10. NRA says , ” We’re saving our money for ‘ other fights ‘ ” when confronted by states passing laws that should be instantly challenged. Time after time, in states after state, and happening NOW with fast track passage of no due process ” Red Flag ” laws , NRA talks and jawbones and FUNDRAISES of it but does little else.

Those bad laws become entrenched precedent in many cases and NRA says :
” Better send us more money …. Wayne needs a new comfy chair for his office “

    • Funny how the MSM convinces those who claim not to pay attention to you the party line on the NRA. Kind of like they did with President Bush

    • Oh cause the NRA should be fighting local red flag laws in NJ and or Washington DC where they don’t have a prayer of winning.

The gun control lobby has 10x as much money. Getting into fights that drain or attrit money is EXACTLY what the gun control lobby wants.

How much did GOA spend on fighting DC council’s red flag law?

    • “NRA says , ” We’re saving our money for ‘ other fights ‘ ” when confronted by states passing laws that should be instantly challenged.” Depends upon the state… Why should we all spend money on a state in which the primary gun owners won’t even take up the battle? That’s a waste of time, effort, and makes it appear NRA is sticking their nose into a place where it isn’t wanted. Personally, and the way the state is run, I’m not interested in spending any of my money to defend New Jersey, for example. If enough of NJ’s people were willing to stand up for themselves, I’d go for it. Not so much at present. You can fill in the state name blank with the majority of the repressive states…

  11. Well, gun control DID win the recently deceased vote. I’ll give him that, Democrats landed virtually 100% of the dead vote.

  12. Two points; The only difference between todays Rs and Ds is the rest of the alphabet. I like what I see in France. Horrible? Yes. Needed? Yes. Sadly we are no longer a Constitutional Republic. We have DEGENERATED into a Greek like democracy. The first commune-ist society. Not communist a la Stalin. Soon we will become a bunch of city-states, with san fransicko being the model. Fight? Not in todays US. PR Cortez and the rest of the up-and-comers, both R&D are not going to stand up to Antif or the rest of the degenerates. Those of the posters here with their ” I carry 2 guns and 50 rounds EDC” will be the first to surrender. The fight will be a new Red Dawn. WOLVERINES!!

    • My entire life feels like it’s been careening out of control to the moment I can hold a com bloc ak over my head and shout that. If we’re going down in flames it’s important to remember to have fun.

    • All the objective data, platforms, actual committee votes, floor votes, statements, judicial nominations by GOP vs Democrat executives, and votes on those nominations by legislators in the federal and state levels show a massive, white nearly perfectly partisan divide.

And you say “it is all the same.”

      Oh ok.

  13. Nothing says “I want to end ‘gun violence'” like sending thugs with guns to murder innocent people for refusing to obey you.

  14. Further infractions of your rights is the ember sparking the powder keg of civil war ii. The parallel to states rights and slavery to the divisive states on our 2A rights is too close for comfort. Its not something I want to see.

  15. I haven’t seen an anti-gun politician yet who wasn’t deceitful crooked immoral treasonous
and socialist! Same for the DNC: Democratic National Committee and RINO’s: Republican
    In Name Only.

  16. Yay!

We all don’t have to carry a gun anymore because a piece of paper is going to tell men what to do and they are going to follow it. Why didn’t the founders think of this!?

  17. All you folks yammering about “civil war” are delusional and watch too many movies. The reality is people these days can’t even change a flat tire let alone fight some violent revolution.

Most people don’t care about constitutional freedoms. As long as they have amazon push bottom shopping, streaming to binge watch nonsense, video games, grubhub and most importantly a smart phone to stare at they’ll be just fine.

Sure there’s some tough self sufficient people out there but they’re few and far between.

The bottom line is if you reside in a metropolitan area the government is hellbent on regulating pretty much every aspect of your life, not just guns.

When you live with a bunch of sheep and lemmings that’s how big government will treat you.

If you’re worried about your personal freedoms being stripped away stock up on guns and move out to the sticks. No one will bother you there but keep in mind you’ll be sacrificing the modern comfort so many people crave.

    • Watching some news footage from France this weekend, I’d have to disagree.

The French (!) are causing the most prominent example of the Obama-like effect of the clowns who have attended the correct schools, mouthed the correct platitudes, etc – come undone.

The news wants to claim that it is just about the increased taxes on diesel, but it is more a rural vs. urban issue. There, just as here, the urbanites thought that they were going to ram their agenda down the rural bumpkins’ throats.

The rural bumpkins seem to be burning up quite a bit of urban real estate these last four weekends.

    • This line is common here, and I get it, but it’s not true. You don’t spend enough time out in real America. As DG noted above, if freaking France of all places can be on the verge of revolution, so can the US.

    • French politicians would not have predicted the riots they have now. And these are disarmed people.
The reality is the Left hopes they can pull it all off without a fight, a fight they would lose.

    • I live in a metro area, suburb. Looking to pop smoke and move out into the sticks.

Thank californians for turning a once perfect place on earth into a declining city that will turn into a shithole eventually

  18. More democrat bluster that will never happen, but let them talk and remind gun owners how they really feel about their Second Amendment rights. Everyone remembers the consequences of voting for the 1994 AWB and what happened to senators that supported it. The democrats want to try to pass gun control while the republicans are in the majority in the senate and a republican as President yet they never even tried when Obama had 60 democrat senators.

  19. what a about things that kill more like car violence, doctor violence, knife, hand, fist violence cancer violence, diabetes violence impeach every democrat and hang them all.

  20. Anyone voting Demoncrat or anti-gun republican/politician/Gov official deport GTFO ASAP or hanging ur choice after proper hot tar and feathering!

  21. Every time I see this guy, or some of the other high profile folks in his party, what pops into my head is a line from a Marilyn Manson song:

♫”Capitalism has made it this way, old fashioned Fascism will take it away”.♫

  22. They will pass more gun control in the house, it will come to the senate and it will be passed then it will be signed by the president faster than a pedaphile can drop his pants at a chucky cheese. Cause they will offer border wall money and he will take it.
