Question of the Day: Can Obama Escape from the Fact that Chicago Gun Control Doesn’t Work?

President Obama returned to Chicago to promote his civilian disarmament agenda. It’s a pretty stupid move, politically. Chicago has some of the most unconstitutional gun laws in America (a.k.a., “strictest”). And yet it’s running a murder rate of around 500 souls per year. While the President is to spin doctoring what Petra Silander is to lingerie, I reckon the Commander-in-Chief is naked on this one. Sure he can and will wave the bloody shirt. And yes he will argue that Chicago needs MORE gun control to stop the killings. But any fool can see that gang bangers with illegal handguns are what it’s all about; not “assault weapons” or “universal background checks.” Obama’s Boyz will find an echo chamber, but his rhetoric may prove to be emptier than they imagine. Your prediction?

  1. avatar Mark says:

The obamanation has consistently demonstrated that his agenda is completely disconnected from reality and his worshipers seem to be as well.

    1. avatar pat says:

Obummer will escape. Its up to us to make sure that many of his denizens in power do not in 14′.

  2. avatar k4R-15 says:

I predict lots of props to Colorado and channeling attention towards an imminent need to rally around universal background checks and limit magazine capacity.

If those gangbangers couldn’t put as many rounds in their assault magazines then they would be inclined to just turn the whole gun in…can’t rational Americans see that this is the key to preventing all this violence? /sarcasm

  3. avatar Jeff the Griz says:

Prediction, He will go to Chicago and meet with his cronies, he will tell everyone the guns are not Chicago’s fault but the fault of the neighboring states that did not ban guns, he will hold hands with some kids/family members that have had been impacted by violence committed with a gun, tell the nation its for the children, and maybe sing so he can have another youtube video go partially viral.

    1. avatar Jake F. says:

I like the video cutting together different speeches so he sings the Pokemon theme song.

  4. avatar JeffW says:

Yes he can escape it. He has 90% of the media in his pocket which translates to Chicago’s violence problems are caused by other states lack of gun control. There will be no mention of the fact violent crimes in gun friendly states are steady dropping. With the complete failure of the Fourth Estate, He can literary write his own facts and history as if he was Kim Jong-il.

    1. avatar IdahoPete says:

+1, with a minor disagreement: He has 95%+ of the media worshipping him as the new Messiah, not merely in his pocket.

      1. avatar Ralph says:

The media enjoys being in Barry’s hip pocket. It puts them closer to the part of his anatomy that they wish to kiss.

        1. avatar Pyratemime says:

I believe what the media is doing involves more of a sucking action…

  5. avatar Juliesa says:

He’s been using the murder of that young Chicago girl who performed at his inauguration to push his agenda.

One of the guys who shot her was on probation for a previous gun crime–never served any jail time. I’ve also read that he’s violated his probation twice, but he was still loose on the streets. If Obama cared about actually reducing murders he’d call for violent criminals to be jailed. But this isn’t about reducing crime, obviously.

    1. avatar William says:

“He’s been using the murder of that young Chicago girl who performed at his inauguration to push his agenda. ”

Murder of someone from his past? Yes, I think he can arrange that!

  6. avatar B.O.B. says:

Obama and his people blame Indiana’s permissive gun laws for Chicago’s gun crime.

Lax US gun laws cause the high murder rate in Mexico. See Fast and Furious.

Only a worldwide ban on civilian ownership of firearms will make the world a safe, peaceful place.

The UN must act to disarm the people of the world.

Hey, wasn’t that Obama’s first proclamation after re-election?

    1. avatar John In Flawduh says:

If you think even worldwide bans on civilian firearms ownership is going to make anywhere any safer, you should press the “stop” button on that morphine drip you have going, because you’re starting to hallucinate. To get rid of guns, you’d have to destroy all guns worldwide, and then erase from everyone’s mind how to make them. Then we’ll “only” have violent criminals killing people with bows, swords, spears and axes again.

There’s no escaping human nature. Sorry to break it to ya.

  7. avatar anonymous says:

    > Can Obama Escape from the Fact that
    > Chicago Gun Control Doesn’t Work?

He can’t escape the fact the gun control in prison doesn’t work.

Well, it does if your goal is simply to eliminate guns. If it’s to reduce violence, then no.

  8. avatar Bill F says:

Yes he’ll convince them, at least most of them. The subliminal chanting plays in the background…. believe me…. believe….. just believe…..

And yet there are those who say the devil doesn’t exist.

    1. avatar gloomhound says:

      Good post

  9. avatar surlycmd says:

He is politician from a city that is infamous for political corruption. He was re-elected as POTUS.
Yeah, he can spin away from the fact Chicago gun laws don’t work and further the anti gun agenda.

  10. avatar Pascal says:

Is this a trick question? He is Mr. Teflon because the MSM supports him instead of doing their job of reporting the truth.

  11. avatar Matt in FL says:

Can Obama Escape from the Fact that Chicago Gun Control Doesn’t Work?

    He’ll definitely try.

Unrelated note: Later today, President Obama will return to Chicago to promote his civilian disarmament agenda.

This posted Saturday at 10 a.m. It was written Friday morning, because the speech was yesterday afternoon, and he’s in Florida now.

  12. avatar Martin says:

Or he can just lie he is good at that

  13. avatar tdiinva says:

Crime is how the Chicago Machine controls the plantation. The gangs make sure that the it costs too much to start a small business; the failure is the school norm and the residents stay on welfare. Gun control isn’t failure. It is the key enabler.

  14. avatar ensitu says:

  15. avatar Thomas Paine says:

    It’s the economy, stupid.

  16. avatar Anon in CT says:

He got re-elected in the middle of the worst economic stagnation in 80 years, which he and the Dems in large part caused. It seems he can get away with pretty much anything.

    1. avatar Tex74 says:

Exactly. I’ve been baffled and bewildered at how he got re elected having one of the worst records a running president could possibly have. He should have lost by a land slide and yet, here we are….

      1. avatar CarlosT says:

He was elected because the Republicans are horrible at reaching certain key demographics and that was too much to overcome. If they had kept the vote in women close, not even won but close, President Romney would have delivered his first State of the Union a few days ago.

The Republicans don’t have to suddenly win all the demographics that the Democrats win now. If they can figure out how to not lose some of the more important ones quite as badly, to make some of them actual contests, then they would actually win elections quite handily most of the time.

        1. avatar tdiinva says:

The exit polls were clear. It was Obama’s appeal to the under 30 crowd — the lowest of the low information voters that gave him the victory.

  17. avatar Nigil says:

I am a resident of the City of Chicago. Every Monday I get a recap on the news of the 3-10 murders that week, out of the dozen plus shootings. Most of those are south side, gang-related violence. There are some places I just won’t go, especially at night, because I have to worry I may get capped by a banger out to impress his homies, or to steal my (less than $1k) motorcycle, or whatever. And all of the gun laws in the city – unconstitutional costs and hoops associated with a “Chicago Firearms Permit”, arbitray bans gun features (Chicago already doesn’t allow pistol grip shotguns or rifles, or more than 10 round mags, or a whole list of named guns) won’t stop someone from taking a 30 minute car ride and buying a simple, average handgun, and murdering someone with it (which is also illegal). It’s already illegal to carry a weapon outside of your home/business in the whole state, let alone the city.
I personally have 4 guns, all of which would even survive the new New York laws, and all of them are pretty damn lethal (as is the point). If I wanted to run out and mug/shoot/murder some folks, my 7-round 1911 with 3 extra mags and 12 gauge coach gun with a stock shell holder could still do plenty of damage to a bus full of people, or an innocent mugging victim, or some poor bystanders.

Chicago’s situation is a VIOLENCE issue. A personal responsibility issue. A lets-raise-our-kids-not-to-be-anti-social-criminals issue. An issue of getting the populace educated and out of poverty. It is Not a GUN issue. And at the end of the day, it would be nice to be able to (legally) carry my pocket .380 to those neighborhoods that make me think twice about leaving tools in my truck, or making myself appear too well off, and thus deserving of a mugging.

It is my fervent hope that all the local public servants, and populace in general, don’t buy in to a ‘more gun laws’ pitch, and recognize the truth of the situation.

  18. Your question is rhetorical, right? Tiny Dancer has already doubled down on failed policies by extending prison terms for various gun infractions. For these people, results are not to be examined or questioned. It’s all about their intentions. They intend and hope to stop gangland violence and killings, but decades of failed policies say otherwise. So now they’ll intend to try harder, yet get the same results.

  20. avatar Randy Drescher says:

At the end of the day what is obamas strength, who can he count on? That is what hes accessing now. Will the military back him? Police? Homeland security will, what happens to them when they kill Americans. There are times when I hope he fires off an EO for total confiscation of everything, then we can see reality, unless what I see is just my imagination. I just don’t see obamas coalition of homosexuals, welfare queens, gangbangers & movie stars helping him much with gun confiscations. Can homeland security fight the rest? Randy

  21. avatar Aharon says:

The gun-grabbers will keep spinning their yarn and the Chicago political goons and inner city sheeple will keep applauding their chief.

Petra is an exceptionally sultry, sensual, and beautiful woman in her lingerie. Please don’t follow with word images of Obummer being naked.

  22. avatar Accur81 says:

Everyone here knows my stance on BHO. Whether it is his failure to balance the federal budget, blocking of an oil pipeline to the US, costly and complicated
Obamacare bill, continuation of spying on US citizens, government expansion, failure to be accountable for Fast and Furious, or consistent attacks against the 2A, this is one of the worst presidents ever to “grace” the Oval Office.

The fact that be continues to be a media darling despite passing the muster of objective performance measures illudes much of our nation. Those paying attention will realize how truly terrible this president is. Some may see the light as the deficit continues at an unprecedented pace, or when they can no longer afford to put gas in their truck. The sad fact is that most Americans continue to be impressed by his moving speeches and “heroic” gestures.

  23. avatar Ralph says:

Since POTUS was able to escape from the fact that his entire presidency bl0ws, then yes, he can escape from the fact that Chicago gun control doesn’t work.Never underestimate the stupidity of the average American.

  24. avatar JMS says:

OMG. Good news piece. Very conflicted about it being on Al Jazeera USA. RF, did you realize you linked an Al Gorzeera video??? Not that that’s necessarily wrong or bad or anything… but… not sure how I feel about supporting the channel in ANY way.

    1. avatar Evan says:

Most Americans only exposure with al-jazeera is of clips from different terrorist activities because they are one of the most extensive new agencies over there. Because of this most Americans don’t realize that al-jazeera is one of if not the largest news metworks in the world and is generally pretty well respected in a lot of circles, don’t know where they stand on guns and stuff but in general a lot of people feel that they are more fair than a lot of the groups over hear. I can’t actually say it myself I haven’t really used them much, but him linking to a video by “gorzeera” is not supporting terrorism or anything negative at all (unless for some reason anything remotely sounding connected to the middle east and Islam is now bad)

  25. avatar Shallow Thoughts says:

Am I the only one who is noticed that the terrorist-supporting, anti-American bias having, Al-Jazeera does a better job reporting the news about our coutry than most of the news networks in our own country. I’m embarrassed to say that between Chris Matthews and people who celibrate suicide bombers, the people who celibrate suicide bombers have more gravitas.

  26. avatar SelousX says:

I feel (am I getting liberal in my dotage?) Incapable of expressing my ire without swearing up a storm, so I’ll just write this: if there is an afterlife, I so hope they’re warming a chair for him in Hell/Hades/Tartarus for him. For spearheading gun prohibition, it is well-deserved.

  27. avatar Lance says:

The fascist pig of Obama is brainless actually Obama has no brain. He just loves having his bed buddies the media show him on TV saying any pro fascist crap for cameras.

  28. avatar B says:

Its nearing the point where I’d trust al jazira more than msnbc. If you cover up the icon, I can barely tell it from BBC news.

  29. avatar mike marriam says:

I predict that he will use every rhetorical means possible to lead the uninitiated and uninformed to every reasonable sounding false conclusion he can just like he always does. All the while refusing to acknowledge the utter lunacy of his totally discredited policy on violence committed with guns.

  30. avatar Joe says:

So lax gun laws in other states are the reason for Chicago’s nation leading murder rate, but those states with the same lax laws do not have the same murder rate as Chicago. I’m confused.

It’s obvious how misdirected gun bans are. Possessing a gun legally or illegally in itself doesn’t cause any harm. The misuse of that gun is the problem. Chicago has a problem with violent criminals, yet libs still point the finger at an instrument.

Spree shootings – these are the work of the mentally ill. Even suicides of otherwise healthy persons are sad cases of mental illness. Why is so much effort wasted on gun control and not on treatment and research on mental illness?

  31. avatar Dave S says:

when truth and reality are irrelevant, he can say and do anything he wants.

And in his reality, truth, honor, common sense, and the welfare of the USA are, well, irrelevant.

  32. avatar Jay W. says:

Maybe Barry O should ask why a life means so little to so many of the people in Chicago? Could it be that after 100 plus years of control of the city by his party, things ain’t working out real well?

PS – Things ain’t looking real promising for the future either. Does anyone believe that Obama will actually live in Chicago after 2016?
