A TTAG reader recently received this plea from MoveOn.Org:

Dear MoveOn member,

As one of the 32,200 gun-owning MoveOn members who support stronger gun laws, we’d love your help selecting a name for our initiative. What should we call our effort? Please vote now . . .

There have been 160 school shootings in the nearly three years since the Sandy Hook massacre, and everyday gun violence has reached epidemic levels.1

It doesn’t have to be this way. The vast majority of gun owners support background checks and other policies to reduce gun violence.2 And we can make real progress—and soon—if responsible gun owners come together and speak out.

Right now, President Obama is considering strengthening background checks—and he said earlier last week that reducing the epidemic of gun violence in our country will be one of his top priorities in 2016.3

Vote now, so together, gun owners can seize this moment to reduce gun violence and save lives.

Thanks for all you do.
Jo, Emily, Brian, Jayne, and the rest of the team<

    • First STOP using the word “Fudd”!!! That is NOT a gun owner “cool with gun control” . The term started with Jim Zumbo because he had fine expensive bolt action hunting rifles or “sniper rifles” when the Left gets around to him. A Fudd is a douche canoe who is cool with controlling YOUR guns like the icky black rifles as long as he THINKS his precious Parker shotgun and Weatherby rifles are safe. The right term is more like “Useful Idiot”.

  1. 160 “school shootings” since Sandy Hook, huh? Wasn’t it just seventy something a few months ago? Did the MSM miss a bunch?

Source: Everytown. Yeah. Good “source” of “info.”

    😉

    • Edit time timed out in less than a minute again. Please just ELIMINATE the edit function. It’s useless.

I amended the group to Smug Haughty Elites for Disarming Out-Groups (SHE-DOG).

  2. Seriously??? Citing Everytown as a source??? That’s like using The Inquirer or The Globe as your source for celebrity news.

That’s practically admitting that their data is crap. A quick google search will reveal that their data is flawed, and that they have brown matter where gray matter should be. It took me about 5 minutes.

CNN, who is no friend to the 2nd amendment, lists only 15 that are “similar to Newton or the Oregon shooting”, most of which were not mass shootings (four or more deaths).

Number 15 was a copycat shooter, likely inspired by the rampant media malpractice of giving the shooter a motherf**king sh**load of pubicity.

    • To clarify, the CNN article is dated June 2015, and includes shootings since Sandy Hook. It lists 15, while Everytown inflates the number to 74 for the same time period.

As I said before, even most of these 15 are not mass shootings.

  3. Wow. They cite themselves. That’s pretty narcisstic.
I’ve got a name for them, but I’ve been doing really good at cleaning up my language.

  4. How about “Fuddites”.

It combines the attitudes of Fuddism with those of the Luddite who has in irrational fear of new technology and ideas, see also Hoplophobia.

  5. Pro Facists initiative for disarming America

Ammosexual facial tattoos for all NRA members initiative

Safety is greater than freedom initiative

    MoveOn… To less freedom initiative

Blame responsible people for actions of irresponsible people initiative

MoveOn… To whatever we assert is the greater good initiative

  6. They asked for suggestions, so here’s my list of 10 names they could call themselves:

    1: Fuddy Duddys
2: Rich elites with private security that’s armed who want the poor people disarmed
3: Criminals for strict gun laws
    4: Hillary’s Helpers
    5: Moms demand action
    6: Mayors against guns
7: Everytown for gun control laws
    8: Civilian disarmament movement
9: The group for punishing law abiding citizens while doing nothing to combat real crime and criminals
10: We’ve used up all of our names we could think of so now we need others to make up a nice sounding name to make it look like we don’t want civilians to have guns

  7. “Get Over Yourselves” formerly “Move On”

Actually, to be more precise it should be: traitors who don’t care about the Bill of Rights or other peoples’ rights.

    • Quite a few Millennials, that group who does not believe in belonging to a political party are members of Move-On.
They are also a larger group than boomers. They have been indoctrinated in schools that guns are bad among other things, When they move into political power I suspect we will be thought of similar to the Bund.

Godwin’s Law is taken care of with this post among other things.

  8. The warm and fuddlies?

    Pre-crime victim dissemination squad?

Ooo, I got it, a motto rather than a name… “Arbeit macht frei “… That way they can pay homage to their traditions.

    • “America is at that awkward stage; it’s too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards.”

  9. Before joining this organization they should watch this instructional video with their families so that they can have a realistic picture of what’s outside of La-la-land.

    From Live Leak:
“Progressives (aka pseudo-intellectual beta-males and emotional hippy-women) actually believe that they can reason with these people, that they can sway them with flowers and candles……

These people do not care what you think or feel, they do not care about climate change or saving whales, they could care less about your idiotic demands for $15/hr and a safe space. They laugh at your worship of Hollywood celebrities and media talking heads, and are greatly amused by your obcession with fair-trade coffee. They will cut off your head even if you marched in a #BLM protest, they will throw you off a building because you are LGBT, they will take your ‘coexist’ bumper sticker and shove it in your mouth after they’ve shoot you in the face, and they will gleefully smile as they cut off your head because you watched DeGrass Tyson instead of praying to Allah.”

  10. Red Dwarf – Polymorph. “I think we’re all beginning to lose sight of the real issue here, which is: what are we going to call ourselves? I think it comes down to a choice between “The League Against Salivating Monsters” or, my own personal preference, which is “The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society.” One drawback with that–the abbreviation is C.L.I.T.O.R.I.S.”, Rimmer.
