How bitter was the taste in the mouth of CNN’s AJ Willingham when she reported that donations to the NRA tripled after the Parkland shooting?

In the days and weeks following the February 14 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the National Rifle Association saw a significant spike in donations.

In fact, reports from the Federal Election Commission show donations to the NRA’s Political Victory Fund tripled from January to February.
In January, the NRA collected almost $248,000 in individual contributions. In February, they collected more than $779,000.

It’s called the Streisand Effect. Millions of Americans see the 24/7 attacks against the nation’s oldest civil rights organization and hear their members and themselves called murderous Nazis with blood on their hands. They know those attacks are politically motivated, vicious, and blatantly false. They then figure they have to do what they can to counter the pervasive, media enabled anti-gun message.

Does that describe you? Have you written a check or joined the NRA since Parkland. If not the NRA, how about the SAF, GOA or NAGR? Some other local group perhaps?

  1. Yes a bought another AR and 1000 rounds of ammo. Already a life member of NRA as well as a member Iowa Gun Owners and Iowa Firearms Coalition.

  2. Became a contributing member of GOA for the first time one week after Parkland. May still consider the NAGR. The NRA has pissed me off too much recently, they’ll have to regain my trust and respect before I’ll consider supporting them financially

  3. Joined NRA for life. Will do a Facebook fundraiser to the 2nd amendment foundation soon.

Given that demonstrations are hip these days, Dallas TX during the NRA convention would have a good number of people there for the cause. Just saying..

  4. Already member of the NRA (and make weekly contributions via family range time in Fairfax) and VCDL (wrote check), and joined GOA and SAF.

    Go team!

  5. My daddy said, “If there is a line, get in it; if there is a list, stay off it.*”

(*except the list to fly the next raid over enemy territory)

  6. I donated to NAGR once. I threw twenty bucks their way. They have probably spent a hundred in mailings to try to get me to donate more.
I’m already a life member of the NRA.
    I’ll try 2AF next.

  7. I dumped an embarrassing amount of money at the Friends of the NRA banquet two weeks ago. My wife would slaughter me if she knew.

I’ve also convinced her that there is a grassroots effort to stick it to the civilian disarmament complex by buying 1 gun (preferably an AR) every week in April. So shhhhhhhhhhh!

  8. So ya’ll donated to have your rights removed!?! Some of these organizations are not helping. The fix was in on the bumpstocks and some other things are going to slowly follow.
No wonder it was so easy for them to do.

  9. After the marches were announced, I received an email to go from life to endowment for 250. Chose pay plan. After that is done, I’ll do CRPA and then 2AF

  10. Yes. NAGR, GOA, Second Amendment Foundation. Not one more cent to NRA, until they stop their idiot compromises and “the ATF should just ban it” rhetoric.

“This time we’ll just compromise a little bit more, while getting nothing in return.” -NRA

  11. I’m a life member in the NRA, GOA, SAF, ISRA and belong to the NAGR and Florida Carry and have contributed to the first four recently and the NRA as of this morning. I learned today that my sister and brother-in-law joined the NRA for the first time because of what’s been said about the organization and gun owners these last few weeks.

  12. Yes I Certainly Did – My Local Gun Store!!! I Dropped $755 on a Ruger AR-556MPR, $400 on a Leupold VX-R Patrol, $66 Burris P.E.P.R. Scope Mount, $50 on a VTAC Sling, $15 ona BCM KAG, $60 on some Clear Lancer 30rd Magazines, and $350 on Various Grains of 5.56 and .223 Ammo!!!

  13. Donate , then Donate again. Put our money where our mouths are. Or should be. Do not let the left fascists take our rights away. Stand up and fight this bull crap. Or be like lambs to slaughter, with no means to defend our civil rights. This is America. Act like it & be proud to do so.

  14. I renewed my membership for 3 more years, a few months early, and assisted an LGS with the purchase of a new Sig. Just doin’ my part to assist my fellow armed inteligensia coalition!

  15. Yes, NRA and 2nd Amendment Foundation, NRA life member since I was 29 up to endowment. 2nd Amendment Foundation Life Member about the same time.

  16. I did donate to NRA and GOA. Donations are good, but I think more than just money and memberships is needed. When you have Republicans in full control and championing and passing state and federal gun control there is a big problem.

We need boots on the ground. Just signing a check and sitting back while the NRA represents you or sending the occasional email apparently doesn’t work.

I poked around the NRA website, they do have a “grassroots” and “Frontlines” division. I guess they have regional grassroots leaders and FAL activist leaders, clicked on that to find a FAL for Florida…. None listed. None for Utah, but California has some. Hmm… It seems like these local grassroots people would be the ones needed if we wanted people actually meeting politicians, motivating people to action, organizing events, etc. So maybe that is the next step. Ask the organization of your choice how to actually volunteer, if they don’t have a leader, be one, man or woman up. Speaking to myself here too…

  17. Nope. I vote my guns. But I live in CA. I can’t see what the NRA is doing for me.

And why is that soy boy in the picture trying to look like Il Duce?

  18. Not more than usual? I have my amazon smile setup for the NRA’s defense fun. I have started more earnestly to finally finish out my first ar build. Still need some of the biggies, though.

  19. I am in the process of upgrading my NRA life membership from Endowment to Patron. Have to do it in installments as I don’t have quite as much ready cash laying around as I did before I retired.

  20. This what gun confiscation would get us. The UK banned handguns 1996, data from Home Office as reported in UK news.
2,034 violent crimes per 100,000 people in UK
The U.S. has a violence rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, Canada 935, Australia 92 and South Africa 1,609. this was 2010

“Kitchen knives are being used in as many as half of all stabbings in the United Kingdom and has prompted a group of doctors to call for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives.
An individual has to demonstrate that he had good reason to
possess a knife, for example for fishing, other sporting
purposes or as part of his profession (e.g. a chef) in a public
    place.”
“The manufacture, sale and importation of 17 bladed, pointed
and other offensive weapons have been banned, in addition to
    flick knives and gravity knives.”
A spokesperson for the Association of Chief Police Officers
said: “ACPO supports any move to reduce the number of knife
related incidents, however, it is important to consider the
practicalities of enforcing such changes.” This was 2005 in Britain
in 2017 what you get is below.

    https://www.ibtimes.co.uk/

Machete-wielding moped gang ‘mugs entire street of innocent bystanders’ in Manchester

“Knife crime in London increased by 25% in the year to September 2017 London saw an increase in knife related incidents by almost 25%, accounting for 35% of the total knife crimes in the UK, with 12,980 reported cases.” this means the UK has over 37000 knike crimes a year, it has been reported that there is going to be an effort to ban some knifes.”However, knife crime is rising across the UK, not just here in London”

  21. Yes. NRA which I am a member of but made the donation to NRA-ILA so that it all goes to fighting anti Second Amendment Legislation.

    https://donate.nraila.org/Donate

I also donated to the Second Amendment Foundation and Illinois State Rifle Association.

I am a member of the GOA and will continue to be but did not send them any extra money as I feel the above organizations do a better job in fighting in federal and state legislatures and the courts.

    • It will actually go to Chris Cox’s salary. Look at the NRA’s official Youtube page and you’ll see him call for gun confiscation and more background checks.

  22. My daughter just called me. Told me the liberal media has convinced her to be more involved. As of this morning she is now an NRA member.

Is it just me or does anyone else think David Hogg resembles Joseph Goebbels? No kidding.
Maybe re-incarnation does happen for the truly evil.

  23. I am already a member of the NRA. I always round-up my purchases from MidwayUSA to give to the NRA. I just joined GOA and the Second Amendment Foundation and donated extra to them both on top of my membership. I am NOT going to let my god-given and constitutional rights taken away by any gun-grabbing, uneducated, biased person or group. Keep the good fight going!

  24. Yep, GOA.

I first joined GOA last year when NRA folded up like a cheap tent in a high wind over bump stocks, wimps. No, I did not quit NRA but I am holding off on renewing for another 5 years.

  25. SAF.org. Checking my local Grass Roots organization also. We should support our local state orgs and move up the ladder from there. I’m a current member of NRA too.

  26. Yep sent in my 3rd free NRA membership courtesy a Brazilian company. I wish I had more $ for everyone else but mebbe in the future. Oh I joined the anti-AARP too-AMAC. Association of Mature American Citizens too. F##k AARP…

  27. I bought some 80/20 fasteners and angle brackets, and I ordered some other offset T-Nuts.

The tooling should up our production initially by 3-5% and 17-22% overall.

  28. Yup. My meager funds to, GOA, FPC, 2A Foundation. I’m still pissed at NRA. However, will likely renew membership and toss a few coins to ILA. Maybe if I hit the lottery, millions and millions could flow.

  29. Speaking of “donating”…don’t forget about SMILE.amazon.com! You can select your favorite charity, and a portion of all your purchases will be donated to said charity, at no cost to you. SAF and NRA Foundation are on there, along with a number of smaller local gun groups.

Just start your Amazon shopping session at http://smile.amazon.com ; under the search field you’ll see “Supporting: ___”, click that, then click “Change” and you can search to your heart’s content for your favorite (gun rights) charity to support.

  30. After the kook in Vegas I upgraded to life membership and bought an AR from my local gun shop. Tapped out for funds for now but down the road GOA.

  31. NRA Benefactor Life Member already. Joined GOA as a Patriot member. Donations to NRA, SAF, & CPRC.

    Gotta help stop Fuhrer Hogg!

  32. Joined NRA after Vegas. Joined GOA after Parkland. Will probably join more soon. The more money these organizations have to fight, the better.

  33. I’m thinking about NRA membership. ….. , you ever see people you’d just like to punch? , and I’m a nonviolent type of guy

  34. I really want to, but at the end of January I was laid off by the company that I have been with for the last 9 years. I am currently enrolled in a Class-A CDL program through a local community college, and that is currently eating all of my money. 🙁

  35. NRA Life Member and Patron, I have donated to both NRA and GOA since Parkland.

We also support the Gun Culture when we buy guns, accessories and ammunition, especially when we buy from local gun shops and online small businesses. I’ve bought all three since Parkland and will be buying more.

  36. As a former high school kid, I can say with experience and authority that these high school kids are fucking retarded. I’ll not be told how the world works by those who’ve never set foot in it.

I was in 11th grade when Columbine happened. While I was not a student at that school, we all realized just how vulnerable we were at school and questioned the lack of any armed protection.

I was in college during the VT shooting. Again, I questioned about armed security. Who would protect us?

I was a new parent when Sandy Hook happened. I woke up. I applied for and received my CHL within weeks. I am my family’s security.

    You can’t outlaw evil.

  37. Upgraded my NRA membership to Benefactor, joined the SAF as a life member, and early renewal of my NAGR and NYSRPA memberships.

I also emailed my federal and state elected officials and let them know that I’m going to make an extra donation to the NRA each time I hear them say “common sense gun laws”

  38. Hell YES! Extended memberships to NRA and Gun Owners of America.
Purchases a new pistol and ammo and enjoyed the gun range.
Recruited friends to join the NRA and to buy a gun.
In short … I did everything that would make a liberal go crazy.

GOD BLESS AMERICA and our guns

  39. Yes, I went up to Patron Life Membership, and I am thinking about Benefactor Life Membership.

Is it me or does that hog kid have the whole Nazi youth pose thing going in that picture? He is certainly a scary piece of work.

  40. re-upped w/ nra and joined goa… will donate to more groups and most importantly… get more involved thru my local politicians & grassroots causes.

  41. Got to save money right now, hopefully moving out of illinios in the next few months. Once the wife and i are moved and settled in, i will finish my ar build and donate to goa. Im done with the nra.

  42. Membership lists are lists. They are stored (most likely in electronic form). They can be made public. The can be hacked. Lists can be turned over to your financial institutions. Those institutions can decide they do not want to do business with people who support shooting little children.

The gun grabbers want to “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” They think they know who the pro-2A people are, where they shop, where they bank. Go incognito. Don’t make it easy for them.

Then attack, unexpected, where they are weakest: gun control advocates have all the blood of innocent victims on their hands. Gun control advocates want, need, endorse, create victims of “gun violence” through campaigns to remove self-defense options for the public. Gun control advocates prefer people be murdered, rather than have the means to fight back. Gun control advocates like making and having victims. Gun control advocates are a death cult.

  43. I re-upped to NRA for two years.

I re-upped to GOA and donated.

I donated to 2nd Amendment Foundation (Already a lifetime member, also have them set for my smile.amazon.com charity).

I re-upped and donated to Virginia Citizens Defense League.

  44. Member of the NRA and ISRA, joined GOA recently. SAF supporter on smile.amazon.
Refused 5 year NRA membership offered over the phone. Asked the caller to tell to Wayne that if they don’t get their shit together and don’t stop “compromising” I may not get my next year either. Show me more than just claims of “Not another inch!”, while giving up left and right and actually get some results. Then I will gladly pay.
