TTAG The Truth About Guns ten years

Ten years is a lot, especially in internet time. Yet here we still are, a decade after RF followed up cars with The Truth About Guns.

Brace yourself for a little irony. The very first post on TTAG was about rolling back gun control laws…in Virginia. The Old Dominion’s House of Delegates had just passed a bill loosening restrictions on, among other things, where concealed carry was permissible, making concealed handgun permits good for life and repealing a one-handgun-a-month restriction.

My, how things have changed. And will continue to, both for better and worse where gun rights are concerned.

TTAG has benefitted — and continues to — from a long line of very talented writers and contributors, as well as one of the most engaged, knowledgeable readerships in the gunblogosphere. We’ve grown a lot since that first post in 2010 and intend to continue that growth going forward.

In the mean time, we’d like to thank everyone who’s helped TTAG get this far and make it what it is. Not the least of which among that group is you, dear reader. We appreciate your continued time and attention to this site and are working on bringing you more and even better content and other features we hope will keep you coming back over the next decade.

  1. An effete, art collecting New Englander who first touched a firearm at the tender age of 45 started an amazing collecting spot for slack jawed goobers who strut around in camouflage with ARs strapped to their chest and meekly waddle away when the po-po threaten to arrest them for trespassing on gubmint property…

    • I have also been here since 2012. The first TTAG article I read was a Ruger SP101 review. A lot of what I initially learned about guns and the gun community was from this site. I hope to be reading a two decade Anniversary post someday.

    • I have been here since 2011. My first article was Ralphs Mosin buying guide. I was still in highschool.

See guys, we have young women readers too. Take that you stereotyping SJWs!

  2. Happy Anniversary!
Not too many sites get a link on my desktop. TTAG is one.

I’ve been fortunate to meet quite a few of the writers for this site. I could have not met a nicer bunch.

  3. Dan, Thank you to you and all of TTAG’s many fine contributors. You make a huge contribution to gun culture and gun-owners’ rights via a daily round-up of gun reviews, educated opinions, and 2A rights news. Again, thank you.

  4. 10 years of the chosen convincing the goyim to not support the NRA, open carry, support murdering your husband, arming teachers, that democrats are the real racists, fake trolls, and deleting comments.

    Boomerpoasting par excellence!

    Keep it up!

    • Hey, first time poster!
      Welcome to TTAG.
Did you take a wrong turn after visiting the “non binary gender” website?

      • This guy comes on here occasionally, with one different name after the next. His complaint, as he has laid it out, is that he couldn’t keep his wife satisfied so she shacked up with a black dude. Mr. Derulo (or whatever he’s calling himself today) then beat her. She filed a protective order and divorced him. He’s mad that a woman can divorce a man just for beating her, and complains that TTAG commenters support her decision, calling them “anti-family”.
I’m not making this up. He’s been writing this stuff for years.

    • I liked the caption contest, too. I was never able to think of anything that would be considered funny, but I really enjoyed reading other’s submissions. Please bring the caption contest back.

Oh, have more posts about the 6.5 Creedmoor; I can’t get enough of it.

And happy birthday to you, TTAG.

    • you post an image and i’ll be glad to supply at least one caption. just jam it into a lame review like a torque wrench.
dan, we never cared about the premiums, even the ones that were shipped.
we just want to spout off.

  5. Congratulation TTAG. Been around awhile. Thanks for being one of the very few places I can vent. GOD bless Robert Farago…

  6. I’ve been here since 2011. Thanks for being a great source for Arms and gun information!!!
Thanks to some great gun writers. And you have brought people together at least on the issue of gun civil rights.

  7. I truly appreciate all that has been to keep this place interesting, informative and often enough good for a laugh or two. Well, except for that one time with that thing….. you know. The thing that “goes up”.

    Happy Anniversary TTAG.

  8. Don’t remember when I first started coming around buts it’s been a while and I look forward to many more years of entertainment and information.

  9. A quote from that first article :

“On this day, July 1, in 1975, Emmy-winning actor Kelsey Grammer’s sister was raped and murdered by drugged-out killers in Colorado Springs, Colo. Karen Grammer, 18, was abducted from outside a Red Lobster restaurant by three men, current and former U.S. soldiers who worked at the Army base at Fort Carson. After raping her, the men blindfolded Karen, drove her to an alley and slit her throat. Kelsey Grammer, then a 20-year-old aspiring actor who went on to star as Frasier Crane in “Cheers” and “Frasier,” had to fly to Colorado to identify her body.”

You know, Kelsey, has your little sis been armed, she would probably be here today, you Leftist toad…

    Happy 10th, TTAG!

    • Not saying you’re wrong G, but my understanding is that KG is a rare Hollywood conservative and 2A supporter. Terrible story, maybe that’s what brought him around to our side.

  10. Not sure when I started here, it was definitely before Sandy Hook, and it’s been an interesting 10 years, to say the least.

Hopefully RF was able to reel in one of those Israeli supermodels, and Dirk Diggler got his “date” with Shannon…

  11. I’ve been here since the beginning. There have been lots of changes over these ten years. For one thing, back then I thought I was still young. Ish.

    • Saw you(and Dirk) on an online video. You look better than me Ralph!😏Honestly didn’t know WHUT to think about TTAG as a new gun owner. I lurked around for mebbe a year(I hate giving my Email out). If for no other reason than supporting ILLinois gun right’s all be here…

      • “Saw you(and Dirk) on an online video.”

Wasn’t Dirk wearing a purple fuzzy sweater in that one?

Ralph, we need the “The Master of Wise Cracks” to be here for many years longer.

I still have much more to learn, yet… 🙂

  12. Congrats to RF, Dan, and all the content writers/editors. I would send then a bottle of the finest, but I just can’t give up my last magnum of Champipple.

      • “You’re so ugly, they could shove your face in some dough and make gorilla cookies”

You so ugly, you gotta sneak up on a glass of water to get a drink.
        (change of venue, there)

        • While I recognize the quote, I can’t place it without looking it up. By why change venue? There are so many good ones to read while you drink your cold duck and ripple.

She’s gonna be competing with her own peers.
          Her Peers?
You mean Godzilla is in the contest?

        • “While I recognize the quote, I can’t place it without looking it up. By why change venue?”

The quote is from the recording “Say Man”, by Bo Diddley. It contains one of my other favorite quotes: You look like you bin whooped with a ugly stick.

Changed venues because your gave me an opportunity to use one of these favorite quotes.

  13. I arrived here in December 2012. I used to check out TTAC quite a bit before then when I was more into cars than guns. That shifted after it became a pain in the ass to move a lot of cars every two years. Guns were much easier and the projects were completed much quicker.

  14. Started out with TTAC before it even had a comment feature and moved here not long after it started. The reviews have moved me to buy a few guns and the debates are still engaging.

I miss mikeb20300 or whatever he went by. You never forget your first troll.

  15. Congratulations! 10 years is quite an achievement in today’s online world.

While I miss RF’s wiseacre text, the current site has a solid base of writers and gunwise folks. Enjoy it a great deal.
