We’re still endeavoring to determine if Celeste Leibowitz is related to Fawn (ban kilns!). Whatever the case, in the wake of this morning’s shootouts and manhunt, twitchy.com‘s compiled a few first blush tweets from those who would blame the NRA for rain on the fourth of July. In this case, Celeste seems troubled by the bipartisan group of Senators who defeated the Manchin-Toomey background check amendment Wednesday. Not that 60+ votes would have done one damned thing to save the MIT policeman who was murdered by one of the Chechnyan bombers anyway. But facts like that can be so inconvenient when you’re emoting.

  1. Once again blame the gun or the NRA or for that matter, anything other than the criminal himself………….

    • When has it ever been the criminal’s fault? It is the fault of society, the NRA, aspartime, rock and roll, drugs, not drugs, too much breast feeding, not enough breastfeeding, the Keystone pipeline, Bush, Halliburton, Christianity, not worshipping Obama enough, college football, white men, hamburgers, SUV’s, etc.

    • That is one surreal news article. “Until she was blown to bits, friends would say that Fawn’s best feature was her smile.” And what was her best feature after being blown to bits, I wonder? (No, on second thought, I don’t.)

      • Ha! My instincts were correct, then. I couldn’t decide if it was a perfect storm of unintentionally funny amateur hackwork or a really brilliant Onion-style satire. I was laughing, but wasn’t sure I should be. That in itself should’ve been a tipoff.

      • For those of you who weren’t alive in 1978 for Animal House or in 1973 when Fawn first appeared in National Lampoon’s 1964 High School Year Book, you now have your humor subreferencing assignments.

“HSYB” is classic PJ O’Rourke. Funny and as un-pc as he was at Car & Driver.

  2. I really try to understand people like this points of view, but I honestly just cannot wrap my mind around. I don’t get it. I understand how the liberal mindset works. I just really don’t get it lol. But what is there to understand, these are the same people that blame inanimate objects for evil acts. *shrugs shoulders*

    • I hear you. Something has happened to the “liberal” worldview over the last couple of decades- I’d prefer to call it the progressive worldview, to avoid casting aspersions on those who have a classical liberal outlook to freedom of thought, and liberty of the person. Progressive thinking is derived from Marxism, and the sick strains of that which still exist in Europe, and on college campuses in the burned out old radicals, like the Ayers, and their spawn, the Alinskyite converts and community organizers who ascribe to that failed ideology.

I’ve read some of Celeste’s tweets. She reminds me of the Kos Kids, or the loonier of the loose screws at HuffPo. It comes down to this, if you disagree with me, you are bad. And if you are bad, then its ok for me, as a superior person, to demonize you, to dehumanize you. Its only a small step beyond that, to the horrors of Auschwitz, Solzhenitsens Siberia, The Killing Fields of Cambodia, Tiananmen Square, Rwanda, and so on.

Personally, I think some comes from the perversion of reason that has gone on in much of academia in the post-modern, transnational progressive thought there, thats been brainwashed into impressionable youth- like the Occutards who dont have the life experience to put things in context. And social media gives someone who would otherwise be considered odd, and avoided, much greater reach, and connection to other loose-screws, and validates their twisted outlook.

In the un-balanced person, this translates into narcissism, an sense of superiority, and explains the outrage of people like Celeste, that not everyone agrees with her, and therefore, they must be bad.

In this way, Celeste is closer to these monsters in Boston, who despite having the benefit of a free society, have decided apparently that they have the right to blow up innocents, to satisfy their rage.

  3. There are a lot of left-leaning politicians and Hollywood types who are upset this morning, because the terrorists are not the Great White Hope, 2nd Amendment-loving Americans they were wishing for as the perps. Nope, just the usual Islamist terrorist types.

  4. So when will they take Presto to task for all the people killed and injured by two of their pressure cookers?

  5. Once again blaming the NRA for something that doesn’t have sh*t to do with it. By her logic, Honda is the reason for a drunk driver hitting a tree and dyeing.

  6. And has she noticed that DiFeinstein’s “assault weapon ban” was voted DOWN by a Senate vote of 60-40 against? (Not mentioned in most media reports.) Sounds as if a whole bunch of Democrat Senators should share the blame with the NRA , Celeste.

  7. Proves Liberals are fascist idiots. MA has all AWB and gun background checks and gov FAIC cards to even own a gun anti gunners want didn’t stop Islamic terrorist from killing a cop.

  8. I didn’t know that (according to their uncle) loner Muslim Chechnians failing to settle in our country were recruited by the NRA. That’s not the NRA MO. Radical Islamic clerics on the other hand….

    • Hey, lots of the commenters on this site keep griping that the NRA fails to be “inclusive” in their recruiting.

  9. Odds that the gun used was registered or properly permitted under my home state’s draconian laws: 0.00000000000000000001%. I’ll eat my words if I’m wrong. But I won’t be.

      • According to reports-one had a green card, the other had citizenship. Qualifier*-MSM report-for what it is worth.

      • Citizenship isn’t a requirement. I have a friend who is in the country on a Visa from South Africa and currently working on his citizenship and the first thing he did when he got the Visa was go out and buy a 1911 because he had never been able to get one in SA. Makes me proud to see someone willing to follow the proper citizenship channels show eagerness to enjoy the freedoms protected by the Constitution.

      • You can legally obtain a firearm without being a citizen, it’s not a hard requirement. Green card holders are treated exactly the same as citizens in that respect. Those on non-immigrant (work, student etc) visas have more hoops to jump through as they have to demonstrate “reasonable cause” to the Feds, but this is done simply by obtaining a valid hunting license from any state (and e.g. Alaska sells a small game license online for $30, mailed directly to one’s home).

This is as far as federal law goes. Some states restrict ownership and/or for non-citizens, or require additional licenses. But in most places, a non-citizen can ultimately buy and carry.

  10. I am going to assume this is a long standing tradition of the anti-gun crowd “to keep the emotions up” They have failed, Boston has taken away the 24/7 gun control agitpop, they have do something?

On the bright side, it continues to show they have nothing and spewing stuff like that can simply be used against them.

  11. Ms. Leibowitz,

It is because of naive people like you who do not have a good grasp of reality that the German Nazzis and Italian Fasscists were voted into power resulting in the slaughter of tens of millions of innocent people across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Based on your last name, you are Jewish as I am. It is because of naive Jews trusting in hope, government, and society and not in self-reliance and personal fighting skills that six million of your fellow Jews along with just as many innocent Christians were exterminated in the Holocaust. Go jump in an oven loser and stop wasting oxygen.

  12. How about STFU you stupid bitch. Let’s hear some other cause and effect tales. I blame the sun since it rose this morning. Again, STFU.

RE: Another Example of Leftist Psycopathy

It should be apparent by now that these social policies and the passions that drive them [modern liberals] contradict all that is rational in human relating, and they are therefore irrational in themselves. But the faulty conceptions that lie behind these passions cannot be viewed as mere cognitive slippage.

The degree of modern liberalism’s irrationality far exceeds any misunderstanding that can be attributed to faulty fact gathering or logical error.

Indeed, under careful scrutiny, liberalism’s distortions of the normal ability to reason can only be understood as the product of psychopathology.

So extravagant are the patterns of thinking, emoting, behaving and relating that characterize the liberal mind that its relentless protests and demands become understandable only as disorders of the psyche. The modern liberal mind, its distorted perceptions and its destructive agenda are the product of disturbed personalities. — Lyle H. Rossiter, Jr. MD, The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness.

  14. erhgads… have you seen her facebook page? she is living-dead proof the zombie apocolypse has already occurred. I mean, evidently, calling for the death of that dude that sent the President ricin is OK!

  15. Celeste probably needs a real man in her life to release all that sexual tension. Mr. Eveready isn’t cutting it.

  16. There is a quote I heard that is remarkably appropriate right about now.

“It is OK to have an unexpressed thought.”

  17. ‘Fugitive bomb suspect became citizen last year’
    http://www.nbcnews.com/

This is sorta funny after reading in the main stream media, for the past five days, that 90% of Americans support a path to citizenship for illegal aliens.

  18. WTF is that thing??? Did any of you look at its picture? Do so at your own risk. It looks like a creepy pedophile male with lipstick and female clothing on.

  19. Someone needs to reply to this twit and tell her to not blame the bombers, blame the pressure cooker.

Apply a liberals gun logic to anything else and it shows how stupid they are.

  20. I’ll sleep very well, thank you. I live in a free state, I’m secure in my moral reasoning, and I have a 1911 in my bedside drawer.

  21. I think the Liberals and Progressives (and Celeste in particular) suffer from Cognitive Dissonance. This is where if reality and perceptions clash, reality is ignored and the perceptions are followed. And NOTHING can alter the perception of those holding the viewpoint.

As an example, I worked for a company whose senior management, and especially the GM, had very serious Cognitive Dissonance. They thought they could bend the local IT industry to their will. It cost the company, which had been in business for 25 years, its very existence within 18 months. They thought consulting would be the future, so they sold-off the actual money-making section that was keeping the company afloat (and I was in). But at that time (Y2K and GST) the consulting arm couldn’t make a profit when conditions where ideal. When the deadlines for those projects were met, the consulting industry took a large downturn.
