A gushing media report on the grand opening of Kings Gun Center in . . . wait for it . . . California. The TV station gets TTAG’s GHOTD for not saying word one about “gun violence” and doing what it can to bring attention to a state-of-the-art firearms facility in its proverbial backyard. Hey, it’s a five minute report! While we’re here, how about a shout-out for your favorite gun store/shooting range? Meanwhile, TTAG is proud to announce that we’re getting our own top flight home range in Austin next year. Details to follow.

  1. Why not? I head to American Shooting in Houston/Katy for most things, with Athena Gun Club at the top of my list if I were to visit an indoor range. Athena also has a really nice store, although, I was put off by the salesman who recently threw a fit when I was checking out the takedown lever on the G19 (amid declarations from friends and family that Glock needs to make the lever about 2mm wider)

My favorite range, however is my father-in-law’s range in . His sports club has nice facilities, indoor and out, and generally holds itself to a “don’t shoot things too big for the given range area or any of the people” policy, mostly letting common sense be your guide.

  2. Nice store, and it’s in Cali, with a pro 2A news story? The world is ending, the end is near.

Should have handed the man the pistol with the slide locked back so he could see it was unloaded.

    • I noticed at 2:14 he handed a gun to a customer, action closed, and the dude’s finger went right into the trigger guard.

I think I would be afraid to work in a gun store.

  3. Best gun store in SW PA is Security Military Depot. Ak’s, Ar’s, Glock, Sig, etc, etc. Usually around $100-$200 bucks cheaper than any chain store. I just got a Utah State Police Glock 22C for $350. I love that place.

  4. There’s a reason for this reaction, it’s Handford, in the California equivalent to the bible belt. If you were 2 hours north, you probably wouldn’t have any notice of it on the news. 2 hours south and at the best you would have a hysterically scared report about guns in the community, or at worst the place would have never been able to open.

    • This, there is nothing but farms and orchards (mostly dried up now) for 100 miles in every direction. These people only live in California because that’s where you can grow almost anything you want. Not all Californians are lunatics, it’s just that the sane people are outnumbered 10 to 1.

  5. Holy slow news day, Batman! The dude just got 5 1/2 minutes of free advertising! He should report it on his Schedule C as an in-kind donation received.

  6. Gunners firearms here in Missouri great people. For my range of choice it’s unstaffed Missouri department of conservation they are everywhere in Missouri.

  7. Most of CA is still conservative, it’s only the libtard metros like SF bay area, LA, and San Diego that promote prejudice against POTG. Unfortunately, they also have the largest populations packed into relatively small geographical areas, and voting is based on population, not geography.

    • ETA: The small but concentrated, ultra liberal areas “ruling” over the rest of sunny CA is a sore point for the under represented rural areas. That’s why some are pushing for (dreaming for?) the separation of CA into smaller states. There’d be two ultra liberal states around SF and LA, but three or four conservative states for the rest of what is known as CA. However, the powers that be in SF and LA would never approve of relinquishing some of their best assets for the people’s freedom.

  8. I like to shop at Fort Worth Guns, or Bloodbath & Beyond as I like to call it. I have recently used Military Gun Supply for an FFL transfer and will probably do it again in the future. As for ranges, for rifles I like Winchester Gallery. On my side of town, Elk Castle has a nice store and an indoor range with a shotgun lane… at least they let me shoot my Saiga 12 there in the past, things change. My only problem with their range is the “No Open Toed Shoes” rule. Sure, I get the logic, but I also like to wear sandals from time to time. I’m weird that way. My favorite pistol range is… oh hell, what is it called? Anyone from west FW know the range in “Whiskey Flats” on 377 south/west of town? That or Shooter’s Club on 28th and I-35.

100 yard range, a 50, & two 25’s. All INDOORS!! Big screens to watch the games. A simulator room. Friendly decidedly NOT OFWG range personnel (check their FB page for confirmation of that!) And minutes from our Nation’s Capital. What’s not to like?!

It’s nice to see Kalifornia get some positive gun press. It’s sad that it’s such an anomaly.
