Gun control advocates jumped on the Sutherland Springs church shooting to call for more restrictions on the RKBA

Making sure the anti-gun message got out before the bodies had been removed from First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the usual anti-gun rights suspects jumped on Twitter to call for the passage of new gun control laws.

Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal tweeted that more restrictions on Americans’ right to keep and bear arms are needed while being sure to use the new preferred term of art for gun control that’s currently favored by the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex.

Shannon Watts is on board with the latest terminology, too:

The CSGV made sure to point out that Texas Governor Greg Abbott has a sense of humor.

And they’ve concluded that the Sutherland Springs church shooting is somehow related to the Fort Hood massacre…even before the shooter’s name has been released or any information about his motive is known.

And no mass shooting these days is complete without the brightest minds in the entertainment industry weighing in as well.

  1. I liked Chelsea Handler much better when the most offensive thing she did was exposing her T&A, which she seemed to love doing. Now, she spends more of her time exposing her ignorance.

I guess that her ignorance sags less.

      • The NRA is a membership group of people who do NOT go out and shoot others. They are YOUR ministers, friends, teachers, police, medical types, etc. Wake UP!

Guns are only a means for mentally ill wackos to use while trucks, bombs, pressure cookers, knives, etc are also used more frequently for wackos to create chaos. Will you ban those?

  2. “Innocent people go to church on Sunday to honor their God, and while doing so, get shot in killed. What country? America. Why? Republicans.” Really? I’ll Retort With This “Innocent Kids Got To Elementary School To Learn, and While Doing So, Get Shot and Killed. What Country? America. Why? Democrats.” Sandy Hook Elementary Mass Shooting 2012…

      • It Wasn’t Meant To Be Logical, It Was Meant To Point Out The Fact It Doesn’t Matter Who’s The POTUS Is, The Fact That Mass Shootings Happen and Having a Republican or Democrat President Isn’t The Blame/Fault For These Shootings…

    • Excuse me, Liberals, but HOW MANY MOSQUES have been shot up, blown up around the world while innocent Muslims of the wrong flavor were worshiping Allah? And those were not done by non-Muslims, or even by Americans.

      • Cliff H youre so dumb and such a bad writer I have no idea what your point is… typically barely literate doofus at this site under the delusion he is oh so clever…

        • Cliff H is exactly right about Muslims killing other Muslims for being the wrong kind of Muslims, all over the world all the time.

But if you disagree, then refute his assertion without the namecalling.

  3. So Chelsea Handler a leftist who mocks Christians as backwards evil white people suddenly become connonized as saints when they can be exploited for her political agenda.

And hey DiFi, word around the water cooler is that the guy received a DD (dishonorable discharge) from the Air Force. He was already a “prohibited person”. So shut your face you shriveled old commie hag.

And like I asked before, I wonder how long before the democrats in the Texas legislature begin making Texas like California in terms of guns, because we know that the GOP here is just like the GOP in Washington, they drag their feet when it comes to increasing liberty but will jump up and enthusiastically orgasm at the thought of taking people’s guns away.

The only difference is the republican party here is proud to be in the pocket of big business and will fight for such noble and “worthy” causes as amnesty, allowing big businesses hiring illegals, and increasing the big corporate tax base…

  4. “Gun Control Advocates Waste No Time in Calling for More 2A Restrictions After Sutherland Springs Church Shooting”

Well of course not, would you expect any less…??? The bodies aren’t even cold yet, and the ghouls are already calling…the left makes me want to puke…

  5. To use Hitlarys own descriptive word.
These same anti gun bloody shirt waving people are DEPLORABLE!!!!! Broken records too.
They cant even wait until some facts are known to be………… well themselves.

  6. Eventually enough Republicans will join the Democrats in extending controls over the tax cows. These mass shootings will continue because of the government and because there is massive mental illness everywhere. Not enough gun owners care to repeal infringements, we’ll have to do all we can to keep Trump and the GOP from enacting more infringements as the shootings pile up. Once the Democrats take control again, there will be nothing left to do but submit, or actually use the 2nd amendment to kill its enemies. Surely as long as there is ample food and porn, we will choose the former.

  7. Apparently, the shooter, Devin Patrick Kelley, received a dishonorable discharge. Possession of a firearm with a DD is already illegal.

    • “Kelley was court-martialed in 2012 for two counts of assault on his spouse and assault on their child, Stefanek said. He received a bad conduct discharge and confinement for 12 months.”

      • I am entirely too sober to go trolling through the wretched hive of scum and villainy that is 4chan quite this late in the day. I’ll actually apply the 24 hour rule. My current theory is either an outright psychotic or an ANTIFA clown. His FB page is quite SJWery, but I’m going to reserve judgement, I didn’t think anybody on the alt-left would give us an excuse quite this nice to come down on them like a ton of bricks.

  8. From what I heard, the shooter dropped his rifle after an armed citizen shot him or at him. He fled at that point and either died from his or someone else’s gunshot. Sounds like a case of the availability of guns being a good thing.

    • I watched the video of the guy who picked up the good guy who shot at the killer. He told about chasing the killer and then watching him run off the road. They waited 5 or 6 minutes for the police to arrive and find the man dead in his car. He did not say anything about hearing a gunshot or about the police shooting into the crashed car.

It will be interesting to see what the coroner determines to be cause of death and how long it takes to report that the good guy with a gun hit him and he crashed because he bled out during the car chase.

I am hoping, but I am not holding my breath.

      • Good guys and gals with guns will always stand ready to defend against mental wackos such as this mentally ill individual! He should have been in a hospital somewhere getting treated.

  9. … hmmmm, where is the outcry to ban trucks after last weeks ‘incident’. And just maybe we should restrict cars too, to be safe.
Is AAA implicit in keeping these ‘killing machines’ on the roads and in the hands of criminals?

  10. Actually it was a citizen with a gun who put an end to the mass shooters spree. No one in our Government, medicine or law is smart enough to accurately discern who should have one and who shouldn’t. I know what the panty waste liberals want to say. Look at England they have gun control. I would expect we might see some more attacks over in Europe. Which means what? That defense of gun control is totally invalid. Now you want to say only the Army should have guns? Hey Whack jobs what do you think this guy was? Who do you think joins the Army? They aren’t college professors they are down and out and need the income. Likely did well in sports but not in academia. So you then want to make a weak argument that all guns should be destroyed everywhere? And once you say that you are just nuts! It really is an admonition that you are not a responsible adult. It is you attempting to project that sense of self which you feel is normality which is really abnormality onto everyone else. Please we are not sissy butts like you. Ask yourself this. Would you really care if a country that didn’t allow its citizens to have guns, because it didn’t trust them with them, would you really care if they got invaded and taken over, and many of those killed? But who would that be? Those that didn’t believe in the notion of themselves as responsible adults. Those who didn’t assert their rights. In other words weak people.

    • I had two students from England who told about having their home invaded. They had kept their shotgun despite the ban on guns and used it on the two perps. The police wanted to arrest the home owners! BRITS and Aussies have lost their way! And gun ownership in Austalia is UP! many now have guns and the government is trying for another gun grab. Yeah right – with the refugees from the middle east flooding in? I don’t think so.

  11. Where is the call to tone down reporting these atrocities and spending weeks splashing the perpetrators across tv screens so that other losers see it as guaranteed fame. Between this and the Colorado Wal-Mart that’s two copycats in a month.
Start reporting killers as “the nameless evildoers who will perish in obscurity” and suddenly it’s less attractive. Even the jihadists want their 15 minutes of fame, and without it the whole 72 virgins will be less attractive.

  12. Ban #gunstocks? Does she think that Rifle stocks make them deadier now, or is she talking about making all gun companies privately owned? I just love it when those who are so knowledgeable about firearms want to help the rest of us /sarc.

  13. How about outlawing “Gun Free Zones” a/k/a “Killing Zones?”
Texas Churches are so-called “No Gun Zone” a/k/a “Killing Zones.” According to Dr. John Lott, in the article below, 98% of MASS PUBLIC SHOOTINGS take place in “No Gun Zones.” Fort Hood Texas was also a “No Gun Zone” and that is right where Army Major Nidal Hasan fatally shot 13 people and injured more than 30 others in 2009.

Texas Penal Code 46.035 Unlawful Carrying of Handgun By License Holder (Aug.1, 2016)
A license holder commits an offense if the license holder carries a handgun on or about the license holder’s person under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, and intentionally displays the handgun in plain view of another person in a public place. on the premises of an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education; or
on any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area of an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education.
A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun regardless of whether the handgun is concealed or carried in a shoulder or belt holster, on or about the license holder ’s person:

    on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used in the event;
    on the premises of a correctional facility;
    (4) on the premises of a hospital licensed under Chapter 241, Health and Safety Code, or on the premises of a nursing facility licensed under Chapter 242, Health and Safety Code, unless the license holder has written authorization of the hospital or nursing facility [home] administration, as appropriate

    (c) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of whether the handgun is concealed or carried in a shoulder or belt holster, at any meeting of a governmental entity.

JOHN LOTT: GUN-FREE ZONES EASY TARGETS FOR WOULD-BE KILLERS
    Knox News, February 9, 2017

    http://www.knoxnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/2017/02/09/john-lott-gun-free-zones-easy-targets-would–killers/97645622/

WOULD YOU POST A SIGN IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME ANNOUNCING THAT YOU LIVE IN A GUN-FREE ZONE? WOULD THIS MAKE YOU FEEL SAFER?

To criminals, gun-free zones just look like easy targets. But in a recent column for the News Sentinel, Mark Harmon argues that killers pay no attention to gun-free zones. He incorrectly claims that this is the “consensus view” of academic research.

Since 1950, more than 98 percent of public mass shootings in America have taken place where citizens are banned from carrying guns. In Europe, every mass public shooting in history has occurred in a gun-free zone. And Europe is no stranger to mass public shootings. In the past eight years, it has experienced a per-capita casualty rate 50 percent higher than that of the U.S.

With permit holders preventing dozens of mass public shootings in recent years, it is unsurprising that killers try to avoid resistance.

Last year, a young Islamic State sympathizer planned a shooting at one of the largest churches in Detroit. A FBI wiretap recorded his reasons for picking the church: “It’s easy, and a lot of people go there. Plus people are not allowed to carry guns in church. Plus it would make the news.”

These killers might be crazy, but they aren’t stupid. Picking defenseless targets means being able to kill more people. A long list of killers explicitly have stated this reasoning, including the 2015 Charleston, S.C., church shooting, the 2012 theater shooting in Aurora, Colo., and the 2015 attack in San Bernardino, Calif.

In late 2013, Interpol Secretary General Ron Noble warned that even “extraordinary security” is unlikely to be enough to keep weapons out of soft targets. As a result, only the terrorists would have weapons.

In March 2013, 86 percent of police officers surveyed by PoliceOne, the 450,000-member private organization of police, said that casualties would have been prevented if legally-armed citizens had been able to carry guns in places such as Newtown and Aurora.

But Harmon insists that I am outside the “consensus view” of academics. To show this, he cites a survey by David Hemenway. But this survey primarily focuses on public health researchers, relatively few of whom have Ph.D.s and many of whom never have done any empirical research on guns.

Last summer, professor Gary Mauser and I released a survey of all economists and criminologists who had published peer-reviewed empirical research on firearms. The results were very different.

By 66 percent to 32 percent, economists and criminologists answer that gun-free zones are “more likely to attract criminals than they are to deter them.” A 60 percent to 40 percent margin thinks that guns in the home do not increase suicides. And a 62 percent to 35 percent spread says that guns are used in self-defense to stop crime more often than in the commission of crime.

Harmon personally attacks a few of the Crime Prevention Research Center’s 10-member board of academic advisers. He doesn’t mention that these researchers hail from universities such as Harvard, the Wharton Business School, the University of Chicago and the University of Michigan. In one attack, it is just dishonest to suggest that those who fund academic chairs get to decide who holds the chair, let alone successive people who hold the chair.

Gun-free zones are magnets for murderers. Even the most ardent gun-control advocate — presumably even Harmon — would never put “Gun-Free Zone” signs on his home. Let’s stop putting them elsewhere.

John R. Lott is the president of the Crime Prevention Research Center and the author of “More Guns, Less Crime.”

    • (i) Subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), (b)(6), and (c) do not apply if the actor was not given effective notice under Section 30.06 or 30.07.

So, if 30.06 or 30.07 are not posted at a church (“effective notice”), concealed (and open) carry are legal in Texas .

  14. People on the liberal rag news sites, even so called hunters saying “why do people need assault rifles”? Let me spell this out real slow in crayon THE SECOND AMENDMENT ISN’T ABOUT HUNTING OR SPORTING OR COLLECTING; IT’S ABOUT PREVENTING GOVERNMENT TYRANNY, PERSONAL DEFENSE, and/or PROTECTION FOR CIVIL UNREST PERIOD! Just ask the victims of gun confiscation after hurricane Katrina, or the Koreans defending their business against rioters/looters/arsonist, or the ruby ridge folks, or the branch Davidians, (over a trumped up, poop-butt illegal weapons violation) or the people victimized during the ST. Louis riots.
The increase of Evil in America is our own judgement brought against us for pushing God out of our homes and lives. On demand abortion, legalized homosexual marriage, Govt. lawlessness calling evil good-good evil; Our youth with a Do what thou will-devil may care attitude. These events will only become more frequent and violent until we repent and turn back to God. God turned his back to America But know, WE turned away first.

  15. Humans have been killing each other since before we walked upright on two legs.

It’s illegal to murder people, it’s mentioned in the Ten Commandments. Mentioned in federal and state laws. It’s not going to stop unless you ban knives, pressure cookers, vehicles, fire, bare hands, baseball bats. The list goes on to damn near every thing can be used to murder someone.

Not anything is as effective as handguns, rifles, shotguns to defend against the criminal and the crazy!

The 2nd Ammendment was not designed for hunting Bambie’s mom. Gun Free zones are free fire zones for gangs, criminal and crazy.

Gun Free areas are stupid, always has been, always will be.

“Common Sense” is having effective means of self defense.
