The pictured GLOCK 19 has Handleitgrips Gun Grips on it. The grip tape is designed for specific models for more precise application and is apparently available on Amazon, a detail that’s a bit entertaining in itself.
Knowing how well you can grip and fire your gun with wet, slippery hands is an important part of being a responsible gun owner. On the most important day of your life you won’t have time to carefully dry your hands and you won’t be able to stop yourself from sweating, either. It could be sweat, water, or blood; whatever coats your hands you’d better be able to grip your gun – and run it.
We’ve talked about grip sleeves but what about grip tape? Is it better than a sleeve? Why?
I’d say it’s an exercise in futility. With the amount of dog hair and other grit I clean out of my carry gun weekly, any adhesive tape doesn’t stand a chance in hell. You’re much better off getting your gun properly stippled or working on your grip strength.
That’s why I put pachmyer grips on my revolvers if they didn’t come from the factory that way. One size fits all doesn’t. Especially with wood grips.
My bow riser was a bit too slick and in true red neck fashion I fixed it with electrical tape.
I find the texture on gen4 Glocks to be plenty “grippy” for me. I tried a coworker’s Glock with grip tape and it was pretty uncomfortable after an extended practice session.
After training in the hot summer sun outdoors, I found grip tape doesn’t work very well with sweaty hands. For my guns, its only a pair of good strong shoes on mine.

Working in an office, the grip on my Kahr was too grippy with its sharp edges–painfully so for my soft hands. I solved it with a Hogue HandAll Jr. Perfect and perfectly comfortable. And cheap. Plus it added small palm swells that made the very thin grip fit my hand much better.
Skateboard Tape. Less than $10.00. Works in all weather. Cut your own pattern to fit your hands and where you need it.. not the pistol.
I use on my polymer guns, use fancy wood grips on my others.

The last one that hot Tractiongrips was PPS M2. The grip texture it started with was almost nothing.
The last Talons I bought were disappointing.
Why not just grab hold of a running belt-sander? That seems like a faster way to abrade your hands.
I have Talon granulated tape on my 43 and strips of sandpaper tape on the slicky parts of my SR9c.
Don’t feel like I need it on anything bigger.
Pretty sure that’s a Glock 43, not a 19. Based on apparent slide dimensions, back strap shape, beavertail angle, and magazine dimensions.

I like Talon grips with the rubberized texture. I live in Florida so undershirts are not really a thing. Rubber doesn’t abrade my skin. Granulated would.
I have rubberized Talons, Handleitgrips, and Foxx on my carry guns. We have hot days and I have sweaty hands, the rubber grips work. I can only image how rough sandpaper type grip would feel against the skin carrying AIW
For a Glock 19, it sure looks a lot like a Glock 43 with Tarin Tactical grip extensions on the mags. As to grip tape, l have Talon grip tape on my G43. Really makes it grippier.

Dimensions are wrong and no 19 I’ve owned has a cut out at bottom of mag well for a flush magazine.
I have the Talon granulate grips on my carry gun. They took a couple of weeks for my skin to get used to, but now they feel great. I actually developed a light, callous-like patch of skin below my right rib cage from it.
Just another cheap customization. Guess I’d put my money into ammo or maybe night sights. To each his/her/its own.
These grips only cost $10 and work great. The ammo argument gets old…
It doesn’t get old if a person actually shoots often. TTAG should do a survey to see how how much practice/training TTAG commenters actually do. I train in a class once a year, shoot 200-500 rounds once a month (including malfunction, speed mag reloads, weakhand shooting drills), dry fire practice weekly, practice CCW drawing daily. Ammo does get expensive, but so does making the time for this gun lifestyle.
I have Talon granluated grip tape on my TP9SF Elite EDC. Absolutely love it. Since I OWB carry, I don’t have the problem D-Porcy above seems to be experiencing. I highly recommend the Talons. $20 Amazon.
I put grip tape on my friends mouths so they can’t laugh at me when I fall in the river drunk.
I tried it, hated it. Eventually, the tape slips a bit and the sticky stuff shows… It’s just a waste. If you are having trouble with the grip, find another gun or adjust your grip.
