Why keep all the anti-gun attention on ARs and other “military-inspired weapons of war?” One Atlanta preacher figures it’s time to expand things a little. According to ajc.com, “Demonstrators who say the national debate on gun control shouldn’t focus only on assault weapons are gearing up to rally at the corporate headquarters of GLOCK Inc. in Smyrna.” Hutchins will be showing up outside GLOCK’s corporate offices tonight at 6:00 p.m., just in time to make the evening newscasts. The rabble rousing reverend and failed political candidate probably figures (correctly) that even if he can only muster a dozen or so folks with nothing better to do than carry signs and chant a few pre-rehearsed slogans, he’ll still get plenty of positive pub. It’ll be interesting to see how many gun rights supporters show up to counter Hutchins’ media-driven dog and pony show.

    • That’s a good one!

The gang bangers who choose to shoot and murder each other are proof to the rest of the country that Glocks work. The preacher is re-confirming it. I predict increased Glock sales because of his actions.

    • Because not all rap glorifies violence? Not getting into that debate here though.

Better to spend his time protesting outside of a Jennings facility.

These kids aren’t killing each other with Glocks, they’re doing it with throwaway guns.

      • Sorry Neal, but plenty of them have Glocks. After working the projects, you learn that the bangers will use any weapon they can get. There are a lot of (legal) Glock owners in the world, and sometimes they get stolen.

        • According to the ATF trace reports for my hometown, the statistics read like this, with most popular being first.

          Juveniles (ages 17 & younger)
          Lorcin Engineering .380
          Smith & Wesson .38
          Raven Arms .25
          Lorcin Engineering .380
          Bryco Arms .380
          Rohm .22

          Youth (ages 18-24)

          Lorcin Engineering .380
          Smith & Wesson .38
          Bryco Arms 9mm
          Ruger 9mm
          Lorcin Engineering .380
          Raven Arms .25
          Bryco Arms .380
          Hi-Point 9mm

          Glock doesn’t make the list.

        • Urban gang types aren’t gonna spend too much on a quality handgun but even the cheapo guns are in short supply.

    • You can link it with tiny.url or goo.gl, and that’s fine. And that results in you having to actually type something into the conversation, not just share a video like this is Facebook. That, to my mind, is a good thing.

  1. Urban Violence???

Hey you two bit phony preacher, urban violence is caused by Violent Urbanites! How’s that for some logic you UN-reverential socialist? Get YOUR urbanites under control and the violence will be drastically reduced.

    • I’m sure his demand to Glock for $5000 on Monday was rejected by Tuesday, giving him a couple of days of planning to get his single short bus full of parishioners to the Glock facility by this evening.

    • Why dissent? He’s right, we should be discussing bans on pistols and assault weapons.

It used to be the gun control conversation was all about pistols. Then it moved to assault weapons. Really it should include both, given the similarities (both designed to kill, both shoot bullets, both are usually semi-automatics, both have high capacity magazines, both are usually black, etc.). Should include hunting rifles, too, since they also have these same militarized features.

I look forward to hearing more from this gentleman.

      • Pistols, revolvers, and other easily concealed weapons are the original objects of gun control. However, they’ve always managed to attract too much push back with pistols, and revolvers. Every once and a while, they’ll get lucky and choose a currently unpopular or hard to defend against type of firearm. (machine guns, “Saturday Night Specials”, “Assault weapons”) This gives them an easy win, and makes them bolder for the fight ahead.

  2. Go, Glock, Go!

Mr. Colion says it well – the historical basis for black “leaders” being anti-gun is non-existent. However, I do respect their 1st Amendement rights to say stupid things. Given Glocks excellent PR capabilities, I’m sure that they will weather this storm just fine. In fact, I’ll probably be at ProForce in Brea, CA Feb. 15 when R Lee Ermey (AKA Gunnery Sgt. Heartman) will be signing the boxes of Glocks being sold. The last time I was there I lost a hot dog to my surprisingly agile Weimaraner.

I’m pondering trading in my Glock 35 for a 22. I’d rather just buy another one, but my cash flow is a little short. 15 rounds of .40 Smith is a beautiful thing.

  3. This should give you some idea of how this guy operates:

The Rev. Markel Hutchins, an Atlanta minister who served as a spokesman for the family of Kathryn Johnston, the 92-year-old woman who was killed by Atlanta Police during a botched drug raid in 2006, is now suing her estate for allegedly failing to pay him for his services.

The community activist and former congressional candidate claims he made a verbal agreement with Johnston’s family that he’d receive 10 percent of the $4.9 million settlement from the city for his work.

    • Told you it was money-related.

Nine times out of ten, when a religious figurehead starts b****ing about something and organizes protests they really just want money.

  4. I’m from Georgia and I remember this guy. He is a “preacher” and “reverend” only in name and more of a Jesse Jackson wannabe IMHO. He also has his own body guards that follow him around. If I were Glock, Inc. I would just ignore him as this is nothing more than a publicity stunt meant to bolster his following. Guys like this want reduced crime and improvement of their communities ONLY if they can take all the credit for it. Otherwise, they go home to their nice big homes with their private security and couldn’t care less what goes on in their community except for the opportunities to do crap like this.

    • If I were GLOCK, I’d pay a private detective to find out if this scumbags bodyguards use Glock’s, then find a way to sue him for tarnishing their image.

  5. Right. I’m sure Glock, Inc. will immediately take their position into account and recall all of their urban violence advocates.

  6. Apparently, if we didn’t have guns, then the gangster culture would disappear. Anyone that believes that, please google “Atlanta Mom Tasered By Security Guard” and tell me that guns are the problems in inner cities.

  7. Here’s an idea, assuming it’s legal in that community – Glock employees open carry examples of Glock pistols while they set up tables in front of their building and offer coffee, donuts and sandwiches to the protesters. It would be hard to argue on TV news programs that the pistols are the problem when they are presented in this fashion and are no obvious threat to anyone.

    • It would be completely legal. As long as it’s 1) not against company policy and 2) they are permitted or have explicit permission to carry anyways on company property.

  8. Figures I’d be out of state when this guy decides to start raising a ruckus. Give me a day to get organized and I’d bring a crowd of thirty at least to protest this man’s foolishness.

  9. Go preach to gang members on street corners in downtown Atlanta.

Go preach in the approximately 35 state prisons in Georgia.

    self-righteous coward.

  10. Might as well protest Wilson Combat. Nobody uses a $500 handgun to commit a crime with and then immediately throw away. He should probably be outside Hi Point.

  11. Oh great now we got god against us. Thats probably like the boxer about to fight jesus in the other corner, Randy

  12. Here we go again, a politician, who happens to be black, speaking out against guns when he should be finding solutions to curb the fact that almost 3/4 of all gun murders are committed by black males.

WE DON’T HAVE A GUN PROBLEM, WE HAVE A BLACK PROBLEM. I’m not being racist, I’m being honest. If we are going to attempt to tackle an issue WE HAVE TO BE HONEST.

  13. SAY IT AINT SO! I was hoping all the anti-gunners would stay up north. Figures though, ATL is a gang banging poophole anyway. I would love to drive to ATL to counter protest tonight…

  14. Not to brag, but…

The company I work for (a surveying and engineering firm to remain unnamed) did the survey, engineering design, and construction layout for Glock’s MASSIVE expansion project currently underway. The amount of land cleared and graded there makes their current facilities look tiny. It’s times like these that I am proud to have helped them piss off a bunch of whiny little pricks like this one. Working there, along with them being our “hometown” company, has made me a Glock fanboy for life.

    • Also, according to the security guard there, you can walk up with your favorite G## and drop it off for factory direct service. Not that you would ever need it, it’s a Glock. You know, perfection.

  15. @LARS
It is not a Black problem. It is a drug problem. The cartels are not an Hispanic problem. They are a drug problem. Find out who uses most of the drugs, and you will find out who the problem is.
    Hint: Not Black People
