Whether or not President Biden and gun czar Beto aim for a program of national gun confiscation, we should expect some sort of major crackdown against the Second Amendment and against our other liberties. The congressmen who ducked, covered, and cowered – in now iconic photos – when protestors entered Capitol Hill will almost certainly draw the wrong conclusions. They will not – like Congresswoman Lauren Boebert – realize that their safety is fundamentally in their own hands and therefore carry arms and fight for the right of all Americans to do so.

No, they will act based on an intensified fear and perhaps even loathing of their fellow citizens after seeing what some of them proved capable of. The left will attack the First and Second Amendment at the same time, arguing that the free flow of information is dangerous in a country where citizens are armed and can take up action against perceived tyranny.

We’ve already seen what private tech companies are willing to do to curtail First Amendment freedoms, and we’ll soon find out what Democrats on Capitol Hill want to do to eviscerate the Second Amendment.

The Biden campaign promised to “hold gun manufacturers accountable.” Certainly, car manufacturers are – and should be – accountable when a defect that they knew about gets people killed. But we don’t hold Toyota accountable when someone drives drunk and kills a pedestrian. If we did, then Toyota wouldn’t exist.

That’s exactly what the Democrats are hoping to do with gun companies like Remington. They want to blame them and fine them for every time a gun crime is committed. If they did that, then gun companies would have almost no choice but to go out of existence. And – believe me – there is really a clear path to this actually happening. The Democrats now have a majority in the House and Senate. While they maybe couldn’t pass a bill that says this directly, they are savvy enough to find some small bit of language to insert into some unrelated bill, which federal rule-making agencies would then use to make a regulation – working hand-in-glove with anti-gun lawyers – to set the stage for a legal assault against gun manufacturers.

  1. I can’t wait til all this sky is falling bulls*it stops when the senate votes to keep the filibuster, and nothing gets passed. You people really need to learn how your government works. Schumer can’t unilaterally get rid of the filibuster, so without 60 votes legislation is going nowhere.

Focus on the real issues that we face, none of this fear mongering crap.

    • on the assumption that everyone will follow constitutional law…

There is truth to this. Just like adding more states to our current 50. If every republican says no to it then it can’t legally happen. The votes are not there.

    • Yeah not worrying about it what got us to where we are now, with no more 1st amendment rights. You assume GOP will filibuster, they won’t, they are spineless and easily manipulated by propaganda. But to play along, lets assume they do filibuster and nothing gets passed…. they will do with courts and bureaucratic rules what they can’t do with legislation. See that is how government works or have you not been paying attention. It has been states that pass the draconian gun laws, and the courts endorse them. What the states and courts don’t do the bureaucracy (ATF) does by fiat. What goes on in the legislature is mostly for show when it comes to gun rights, accept they get to put into position the judges that do their bidding in the courts. In the mean time they want you to believe there is a political solution. You might as well turn them in now, because you will eventually anyway.

      • ” You assume GOP will filibuster, they won’t, ”

Don’t be so sure. The GOP might look like a chinese fire drill right now, but most that is just a lot of posturing and grandstanding, a lot of sound and fury in pursuit of covering some ass. Once things settle down and get back to normal, I’m expecting the GOP is kick in to full revenge mode. They are going to stick it to SloJo and the Ho to the fullest measure — and more — that the Dems stuck it Trump. And that means give them nothing of what they want. Filibuster everything until it dies. I suspect the GOP is going to filibuster a low fart in a high wind if it smells like it came from the Dems.

If you thought the last four years was a circus, just wait till you see what’s coming.

        • Um, no. The Republicans don’t have it in them. They will go along to get along. They don’t have the defeat the enemy and win at all cost will of the Democrats.

    • Mike Hawkizard,

You people really need to learn how your government works. Schumer can’t unilaterally get rid of the filibuster …

      Right back at you.

The current “filibuster” rule is just that: a self-imposed U.S. Senate rule. That means the U.S. Senate can repeal that rule with a simple U.S. Senator majority vote — which is exactly what U.S. Senate leader Mitch McConnell orchestrated a few years back when the U.S. Senate changed their own rules with a simple U.S. Senator majority vote. (That rule change enabled the U.S. Senate to confirm federal judge appointments with a simple majority vote in the U.S. Senate).

      • It was Harry Reid that ended the filibuster for federal judges. Mcconnell ended it for SCOTUS.

Otherwise I believe you are correct.

        • I think you got it right. Either way, it was Reid who did it FIRST, leading the way for McConnell and making the move obvious. I wish he’d change it back before Schumer takes over.

        • Either way, the point is that it only takes a simple majority in the U.S. Senate to change their own rules.

      • Yes, it was Harry Reid that adopted the nuclear option by eliminating the filibuster rule for federal judges, including SCOTUS nominees. Having been bitten in the ass by the elimination of the rule with respect to judges, I think thee will be great hesitance to eliminate the rule for all legislation, as it will allow a majority party to rule by fiat, a sword that cuts both ways.

        • A wise person would see that it does indeed cut both ways and would probably put back in place filibuster so as to make the political climate less hyper-partisan and encourage consensus building. We don’t exist in that universe anymore though. Anyone with any sense in Congress is in the extreme minority, and they will do what they always do and seek the most expedient short term gain as always regardless of consequence.

      • They only need 51 to pack the SCOTUS, fill any Federal Bench vacancies left, and walk through ALL of “Beijing JoMallas” radical Left picks to run (his/her?) administration… And yes Harry DID get rid of the filibuster for Fed Judges and Mitch cleared it for SCOTUS..

    • I am split on whether they will get rid of the filibuster or not. They certainly can, it only takes 51 votes to do so, and they 50+ Harris = 51. They do NOT need 60 votes to get rid of the filibuster.

However, there are perhaps 2 or 3 senators form red states who may vote to keep it. We will see. The problem is, Chucky has a way of making things happen when he REALLY wants them to happen. His tricks include excluding anyone who doesn’t vote as he directs from committees and committee chairmanships. Preventing them from getting Senate Dem re-election funds. Keeping anything they want for their state off the table.

Like i said, we will see.

      • there are perhaps 2 or 3 senators form red states

Did you mean blue states… Pretty sure ALL Republican (Red state) Senators will oppose (except maybe Mittens and the RINO bitch from Alaska)…

      • Those “tricks” will not work in a 50-50 Senate, if he threatens all that crap all his intended victim needs to do is negotiate with Mitch McConnell what it’s worth to recover the majority by switching parties, all it takes is one. And Schumer is out again.

        • Right. It would probably be to Manchin’s benefit to switch anyway. If he withholds the promised vote to eliminate the filibuster, and Schumer strips him of the committee seats he wanted, he could vote to put Mitch in charge. Besides red state Dem Senators, there are more moderate Dems who might vote against it. Even DiFi has spoken in the past about opposing it for philosophical reasons. Like conspirators who are arrested, the one who flips first gets the best deal. Economic cycles and poor Biden policies are going to screw the economy, so I expect things to swing back in a few years.

    • Considering the fact that Republicans ran for years on the “repeal Obamacare” ticket then did NOTHING to repeal Obamacare when they had full control over both the House and Senate you might excuse people for being a little worried about Congress right now.

      • “…then did NOTHING to repeal Obamacare when they had full control over both the House and Senate…”

Wrong, moron. We didn’t have the 60 votes necessary in the senate, because of the filibuster…

    • ” Schumer can’t unilaterally get rid of the filibuster, so without 60 votes legislation is going nowhere.”

      WRONG –

“The nuclear option is a parliamentary procedure that allows the United States Senate to override a standing rule of the Senate, such as the 60-vote rule to close debate, by a simple majority of 51 votes, rather than the two-thirds supermajority normally required to amend the rules.”

51 votes. 50 Democrat senators and Harris is the tie-breaker…

    • There is not a single person on this site or that runs it that made ORourke tell the world that he is going to take AR’s and AK’s. No one here is responsible for the election debacle or what happened in Washington last week.

    • The problem is people like you don’t read American history. You are stupid on purpose. So you don’t know about all the times, when guns were taken away from law abiding citizens.
      1. Katrina Hurricane gun confiscation
      2. Confiscation of guns from over 100,000 German, Italian, and Japanese American citizens during WW2. And their forced removal to concentration camps.
      3. Racist gun control laws.
      4. The banning of bows and arrows to disarm Indians.

      • “Well put” says this retired teacher of American Government and American History.

According to a credible poll I saw last night, 70% of Republicans and 40% of Democrats think that a Civil War is now inevitable. I doubt that. The War Between the States was felt and fought over a huge swath of the country for four years. Half a million dead Americans (most died from infection). Nope. This will resemble the American Revolution. Far fewer fought and battles often happened out of sight (except for Bunker Hill which was actually Breeds Hill).

        • “…This will resemble the American Revolution…”

Perhaps the tactics of the IRA through the years?

Whose to know, the future is unwritten…at least according to Albert E.

        • I glad some one was teaching this stuff to kids. I had to learn it on my own.
I expect there will be many small skirmishes all across the country. I agree. There will be no large unit actions.

        • First American Revolution over taxation without representation.
Second American Revolution over taxation by Representation, election vote fraud, Socialist direction, destruction of Constitution/Bill of Rights/inalienable freedoms-rights-liberties, enemies in the Command Structure, and a whole plethora of other tyrannical actions.

        • having got a degree in American politics and history I suspect any conflict that comes will look like and American version of the troubles except possibly more violent and unpredictable. At least in the troubles the sectarian divide was mostly clear: Loyalist Protestants and government forces fighting against Republican nationalist Catholics. In America, there won’t be very clear divides all the time, yes there’s conservative vs liberal but that’s very broad and there’s many sub-divides along ethnic and politic lines within those groups as the difference between a mainline democrat and a far left ANTIFA/BLM Bernie bro type is cavernous. It’s gonna be wild if it comes to it.

      • I agree with you 100% and like a couple of those times in your list they’ll be done at the STATE level by DEMOCRAT Governors. The dem governors will be in lockstep with the goosesteping democrat politicians in DC.

    • Murderers, rapists, perverts, kidnappers, tyrants, child molesters and democRat Gun Control Zealots have something in common…They all savor the thought of you and yours being unarmed and compliant with their sick desires. What filth.

    • its already happening, its on Congress’ website already:

      The proposals:

H.R.30 – To increase public safety by punishing and deterring firearms trafficking.

H.R.121 – To provide for the hiring of 200 additional Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents and investigators to enforce gun laws.

H.R.125 – To amend Title 18, United States Code, to provide for a 7-day waiting period before a semiautomatic firearm, a silencer, armor piercing ammunition, or a large capacity ammunition magazine may be transferred.

H.R.127 – To provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition.

H.R.130 – To require the safe storage of firearms and ammunition, and to require the investigation of reports of improper storage of firearms or ammunition.

H.R.167 – To prohibit the transfer of a firearm at a gun show by a person who is not a federally licensed firearms dealer.

  2. I look forward to the day when all the gun owners who said “the government would never take guns away from people”, come for THEIR GUNS FIRST.

    • Based on the things “Libertarians” support I’d rather have a constitutional republic. With a provision that says any elected person or government employee who violates the Bill of Rights will be shot on sight.

    • you guys vote for anti Constitution socialists all the time and then when freedom loving people won’t support it you make fun of them. I’m not sure what the hell you are even thinking.

We will keep getting infringements and the government will keep growing because of people like you.

      • I understand that Libertarian’s don’t like it. But the credible threat of instant death kept those that believed in the bible, or not, honest. It worked very well for hundreds of years in this country. And will had a much smaller government back then too.

Its what helped to keep the peace and create this great nation. By allowing people to work together in business and in personal relations.

      • You are why I say Libertarians are full of sh!t. They say the government should not have a monopoly on the use of violence.
        They lied!!! And you Lied!!!

  3. Keep telling yourself this cannot happen. Who would have believed that the dominant method of national communication would start deplatforming conservatives and their only other option parlor. Who would have believed that antifa would march in NY like a conquering army. This is getting serious and our nation is at risk. We will follow the USSR, China, Germany, Cambodia, Cuba, Venezuela and others that have lost all freedoms if we are not vigilant.

    • You’re 100% correct. Kind of like the “but I’m a good German citizen” line spouted by all the Jews in Nazi Germany.

    • I don’t know about some of the others, but China and Russia never had many freedoms to lose.

Russia went straight from a corrupt, oppressive monarchy to Lenin and Stalin, and are arguably freer now than they’ve ever been. China has always been a case of massive numbers of peasants eating dirt while a rotating cast of aristocrats treats them like animals, and that hasn’t changed. I don’t know what Cambodia was like before Pol Pot turned it into a cautionary tale, but I bet it wasn’t someplace you’d want to spend time in.

Point is, I don’t think any of those nations ever had the kind of freedom we stand to lose. But they do still show that authoritarian socialists (i.e., communism & fascism) can make even the crappiest society worse.

      • “Russia went straight from a corrupt, oppressive monarchy to Lenin and Stalin, and are arguably freer now than they’ve ever been.”

Serge could verify that, his family got out of Russia when border controls were lifted.

And from a while back, 19inth (? It was a bootloader code of some sort) was another Russian who’s family left in the late 1980’s…

  4. Anything can happen…picking up a new shotgun tomorrow. Remember that billionaire in the White House?😖

  5. I used to believe most politicians at the national level are smart enough to know what would happen if they tried to confiscate guns. Now I’m not so sure.

How many years have drugs have been illegal? You can buy drugs anywhere in the United States, even in prison. Drugs are consumed, therefore a steady supply is needed. Guns are not consumed, they can be used for many years. Ammunition is consumed but is only needed to be used when the victim(s) can defend themselves. Guns and ammunition can be smuggled in with the drugs which are constantly being trafficked. Not only that, if you’re going to smuggle in illegal weapons why would you limit yourself to AR-15s or whatever else is legal now.

It’s possible they’ll do away with the filibuster just for gun control, as the democrats did with judges years ago.

    • S R,

I have a slight quibble with your comment:

Guns and ammunition can be smuggled in with the drugs which are constantly being trafficked.

Please note that a typical “brick” of narcotics (which is roughly the size of a cigar box and weighs roughly 5 pounds) usually has a street value of $10,000 or more. A similar sized “brick” of ammunition has a street value on the order of $100. I am going to out on a limb and say that smugglers will not risk life and limb to smuggle a $100 payload into the U.S. when they can smuggle a similar sized package worth 100 times more money.

So, while it is technically feasible to smuggle ammunition into the United States, I just do not see any financial incentive to do it unless the cost of ammunition increases by a factor of 100. And I have a hard time seeing that ever coming to pass.

    • “It’s possible they’ll do away with the filibuster just for gun control, as the democrats did with judges years ago.”

If they do, the repercussions are 100 percent on them…

  6. Personally I think we are going to see a ban on all semi automatic firearms, all magazines holding over five rounds, no grandfather, full confiscation introduced at some point this year.

    • The Policing Industrial Complex sees the political hand writing on the wall that maintaining their jobs by the “War on Drugs” is a fading business model. (Witness the proliferation of drug legalization and decriminalization changes).

The politicians giving police their checks don’t want to be seen putting ANTIFA and BLM type folks in jail.

The new growth market in policing is putting white people in jail that like Trump and guns.
Get ready for the new laws that are focused on that new market segment of white, conservative, and gun owning.

  7. Look, a LOT of people in our nation consider themselves (correctly) Far Left political adherents. Part and parcel for almost all Far Leftists: they deeply and profoundly despise and loathe all of our nation’s “deplorable” conservatives. That being the case, Far Leftists will gleefully suppress, debilitate, injure, and/or eliminate “deplorables” at every opportunity.

A natural dimension of suppressing, debilitating, injuring, and/or eliminating “deplorables” is weakening their ability to defend themselves — which means Far Leftists have a giant incentive to do everything in their power to disarm all those “deplorables”. Thus, if Far Leftists have an opportunity to disarm “deplorables”, they will take it. Why wouldn’t they?

  8. Let’s say they do pass any nonsense. Are they willing to risk delegitimizing their authority when no one complies? That would be bad for them. No doubt they’ll want people to snitch on their neighbors, which will lead to attempted confiscation and violence. Not to mention the fact that there are simply not enough LEO’S for this task. Not that they should comply either.

  9. “Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild.” — President-elect Biden

    https://twitter.com/Transition46/status/1348403213200990209

Americans just want to be able to make a living after the government put them out of business, and all Joe can think to do is make it about race. He hasn’t even been sworn in yet, and he’s already injecting race and division into everything. Build back better my a$$. More like create division.

    • If there was a real press the first question would be the obvious …”Why did you purposely leave white owners out of your list?”

I hate the Left with an incandescent passion.

  10. What will happen is they will eventually drive gun manufacturing off-ashore to avoid what happened to Remington. Goodbye jobs, hello unemployment. We can also expect to see renewed pressure on gun stores from banks intent on driving them out of business.

    • ” they will eventually drive gun manufacturing off-ashore”

The goal is to drive ALL manufacturing out of this country. Remember, we can only be a service economy now. That’s what the smart kids keep telling us. China and Wall Street agree.

    • “hello unemployment”

That’s why Joe is immediately going to work on immigration “reform.” A time of high unemployment is the perfect opportunity to bring in millions of people.

    • Gun manufacturers won’t go overseas. There are stricter import restrictions. Biden can simply say in an EO that any semiauto is non-sporting and cannot be imported.

I expect many websites to go overseas.

  11. I’m still wonder why, in an a nation with well over 400 million guns, I haven’t seen photos of armed citizens inside the capitol building. Seems kinda strange for an “insurrection”, don’t it?

    • Remember that time a Bernie Sanders supporter brought a rifle to a baseball game so he could assassinate republican congressmen? Those dangerous insurrectionists were walking around posing for the camera. Contrast the media and pol reaction to the two stories. Never let a crisis go to waste. Oh, and memory hole inconvenient stories.

    • I believe it will be proven that the worst actors in the capital protest are BLM, Antifa, communist/Leftists. Infiltrators.

      • Chris in KY, I believe you are correct about BLM/Antifa infiltrators. I believe they whipped the peaceful crowd into herd mentality action. A typical Socialist/Communist skill. The level of preparedness with materials was right down the Antifa/BLM logistical play book seen through out 2020 riots where pallet loads of bricks just happened to be handy. I also suspect the Capitol Police et el law enforcement were possibly intentionally unprepared for impact affect. The infiltrators will never be identified, pursued, arrested and certainly never convicted. It was all intended to portray Conservatives as looney radicals. But, you know, it just may be time to a a little looney for Freedom, Liberty, and Individual Rights, as our Founding Fathers were.

    • Hopefully that changes on inauguration day.

      Without it we are fucked.

Show up armed this time and don’t back down.

Even the groups of people I know who consider themselves “patriot groups” and half assed militias are thinking about one thing: themselves. No balls to organize and take the capitals. So I guess I’ll be looking for a more “extremists” group to frequent.

  12. It’s time to deny internet service to MAGA terrorists. Build your own ISP.

You have your own ISP? Time to turn off the power. Build your own electric company. Free market baby!

  13. Oh, yes, let’s keep holding up Rep. Boebert as a shining example of gun ownership.
    “Today is 1776”
“The Speaker has been removed from the chambers.”
Those looking to tie gun owners to Wednesday’s attack couldn’t have expected a better gift.

  14. WELL DARN , GOT ME MY WEAPONS AND PLENTY OF AMMO FIVE YEARS AGO ,
BIT LATE FOR SOME ON SADDLE THAT HORSE , WELL MAYBE NOT SEEMS LIKE LOT OF PEOPLE BOUGHT RESENT , ALL GOING TO BE OK . SOON AS WE GET THAT SCUMBAG TRAITOR tRUMP OUT ~ ELECTORAL VOTE OK IN 2016 WHEN HE WON , NOW A CRY BABY CRAP tRUMP DIDN’T TO BE DICTATOR , STAND BY AND READY TO “YA FIRED ” REMOVE HIS LIE N ASS OUT, TRAITOR TO OUR CONSITIUTION , ,
BIDEN AND HARRIS WON ELECTORAL VOTES IN 2020 , THANK GOD .

  15. I see your tyranny and raise you a Bundy ranch standoff.

That’s what we need folks. Just a buncha patriots stsndin out front of any given company that the cheeter in cheef plans to “audit”

    • I was there “providing security”.

That’s what Virgina should have been. I did not go to VA for obvious reasons. Herded like cattle and compliance is all they showed those tyrants. Now they know we are cowards. 99% of people who showed up to VA criticized the bundy standoff. Look at us now.

  16. Well I Biden kills sales to civi, veterans, retired Leo’s etc then I would love to see them take a stand and tell the government to fuck off and not sell or make any for the military see how he likes that the POS.

  17. How about expecting some personal responsibility?
How about prosecuting gun crimes instead of releasing them on bail…or no bail, now.
Oh wait…that’s racist…but we can go after the law-abiding white guys and THEIR guns…SMH!

  18. Can a president-elect be impeached? Ditto for vice-president elect.

By the way, regarding firearm makers being blamed for the criminal or careless use of their legal products, while no other producer of anything is so treated, how does this work. Someone, anyone please explain.
