Gawker is Shocked, Shocked! That Legal Firearms are Sold on the Internet

Gawker’s Adrian Chen has been called out before as being one of new media’s biggest “click whores” and gun control advocates. And today’s sensationalist title just reinforces his reputation. When he stumbled across the above (very nice looking) rifle legally for sale on Reddit, apparently the mere sight of the gun combined with the Reddit alien logo engraved in the lower was enough for him to soil his Underoos. Which, in turn, led to his article titled “‘Reddit Assault Rifle’ Is The Most Terrifying Thing On The Internet and It’s For Sale on Reddit Right Now.” . . .

It’s all part of the effort to demonize guns and gun owners. The tools are scary and anyone who owns them is mere seconds away from a shooting spree.

On that same front, one Reddit user named Gabour has begun re-posting pictures of other Reddit users’ firearms collections under the title “If this redditor snaps…” (example here). This is the emotional argument that is being made against the 50% of Americans who own guns, portraying them as rednecks and psychopaths. Which is exactly the same as associating black people with chicken and watermelon.

    • My oldest offspring and I both have UTG versi-pak clones like yours. I carried mine throughout a 3-day Disneyland visit and about 8 security screenings without any of them noticing the holster compartment, much less asking me to open it. 😉

  4. The drama is unquestionably breathtaking. Terrifying to me is joe biden lying that the “American people are with us and they (Gun grabbing elected types) should know”.

  5. The admonition to keep one chamber in the cylinder empty is based on old information referring to single action. It was to prevent accidental discharge if the hammer was struck or dropped. Modern revolvers, especially those with a transfer bar system won’t fire unless the trigger is fully pulled to the rear. Keeping an empty chamber isn’t necessary and reduces an already limited capacity.

  6. Is this guy selling his rifle by way of auction?

If so, I hope this bunched-pantied prick from gawker ends up driving up the final price.

  7. S&W 45(4516) loaded with 1000fps,230gr hollowpoints. Before we had concealed carry I had an Emerson Karambit, the 2 3/4″ blade, very deadly. I was pulled over by a tactical drug squad(yes they were out of stock) & the one guy picked up this knife, opened it, shook his head, put it down & walked away. It is quite a weapon, Randy

  8. I carry a Springfield XD(m) 3.8 9mm, full mag plus an extra, a keychain pepper spray unit, folding knife (cheap, since I am currently unemployed), and will sometimes add a NAA Black Widow .22 mag in the pocket as backup.

  9. Maybe this is just the “push” this country needs to get back to its “roots” so to speak..
With the blatent lack of any fiscal responsibility in DC, and my home state of “liberal” occupied IL, I’d say a DC “enema” is in short order…. Remember, the Founding Fathers would have been shooting by now…. IJS……

    • The Founding Fathers would have been shooting at LEAST as long ago as when FDR gave us the Raw Deal, if not after Lincoln’s war against state’s rights.

  10. This bit by tail-dragger Joe is PURE SUCKER BAIT – fully intended to con the public into thinking the admin is OK with being “armed”. During his friendly chat, Joe revealed that he and Jill live in a somewhat remote, wooded area. In Delaware is is highly unlikely that his home is located in a non-incorporated jurisdiction – let alone one without laws pertaining to specific rules for firearms. Joe assumes that most of us are idiots. Therefore we don’t know that were Jillie to fire blasts from the patio it would be immediately reported by the neighbors and she would be subject to arrest for discharging a firearm within regulated limits. (The event would surely be schmoozed over by enforcement and highly unlikely we would ever hear of it.)

For the uninitiated: Semi-auto defense/tactical shotguns with six round capacities are readily available. Two and three quarter, three and three and one-half inch long shells are readily available – loaded with everything from shot the size of sand grains to full sized solid projectiles (slugs). In “close quarter” engagements a shotgun loaded with shot shells is a formidable weapon. Want to seriously light-up
and render a perp useless without killing him? Use a cylinder bore, 20 inch barreled shotgun loaded with # 8 size shot. Let ’em have it at, say, 30-50 feet! Shells loaded with solid slugs in the hands of a knowledgeable shooter are useful to 300 feet. Surf the web for info about shot sizes and usefulness – and for info on slug loaded shells. Slugs are available in solid lead and copper or other gilding metals. Slugs are great for breaching doors, walls, penetrating vehicle radiators, blowing tires and cracking engine blocks, etc. If you can’t get THEM you’ll have a shot at disabling their vehicle. Practice!

  11. What worries me is that whole 2/3 majority thing.

What percentage of the populace own or carry firearms? On the other hand, what percentage of voting Americans are somewhat, er, malleable in their convictions?

What are we the gun-owning-people to do should the Second Ammendment go the way of the eighteenth?

After all, we all support the Constitution, as amended and ratified et cetera, right? Yeah…

That (as I see it) is the Unholy Grail sought by untrammeled do-gooders, and I’ll admit to being a tidge nervous.

  15. Yes, even if the 3rd party platform doesn’t win, the more votes it gets, the more the “2 party system” will be influenced. Ironically, voting 3rd party isn’t a “wasted vote”, it is the most significant vote one can make. For me, that 3rd party platform is Libertarian. Down With The Tyrants…..
