This pocket dump includes a GLOCK 17 and a Leatherman Wave. The GLOCK 17 is a reliable gun, as you guys know, but it’s also a full-sized model. And although it’s absolutely concealable there are a lot of people out there who think a full-sized gun cannot be concealed.

So, how about it. Who here carries a full-sized gun as their daily carry?

    • Better than nothing, but not by much. One of my gigs is handyman and I’d love to find a multi-tool that wasn’t crap. But.alas, I have a drawer full of marginally useful crap. I find carrying a small pair of Knipex, a small adjustable wrench and a small bit driver 1000x more real world usable. And I’m carrying a proper knife 100% of the time anyway. I actually generally think the bicycle multitools are better though out and more portable than the Leatherman type.

      • My Gerber multitool is stout.

And it slides into a pouch a pocket without have to wrap several tools up.

Not a real tool kit, but cuts heavy wire or nails, had a saw and a file, a couple of decent screwdrivers, scissors, and a spare knife blade.

        • I’ve had my Gerber Diesel nigh on 10 years. It has a couple dings but it’s been great, I use it every day. Had to replace original sheath with a Nite-Ize, but other than that a great, sturdy tool.

        • I’ve had a Gerber for at least 15 years. With the needle nose pliers/cutters. It normally rides in my range box or with my fishing gear.

The leatherman was free for the picking. I keep it in my truck. So far the can opener function has been the most used.

        • Lol, the only Leatherman I remotely use on a regular basis is the totally old school one with the spatula, the oyster fork (I’m not kidding, though I’ve never used it) and the waiter’s friend.

      • Gerber series 600 MT. The only thing the carbide cutters won’t cut is the crappy china made barbed wire. I have worn 2 Gerbers out. Usually cause I misused it. Thats over 20 years of use.

  1. I’ve said for years that if you can’t conceal a full sized pistol you either have a very rare body type or you’re not trying.

USP45 nearly every day, all day. I will occasionally swap to a G19 or an LCPII as primary as the situation warrants. If it’s the LCPII the USP is a backup and prolly in my bag.

That said, for now I’m carry OWB because I don’t have a pair of pants that fits me with an IWB holster right now. Damn hex-bar has made my ass grow like… something that grows annoyingly fast.

  2. Omit “This pocket dump includes a GLOCK 17 and a Leatherman Wave. The GLOCK 17 is a reliable gun, as you guys know, but it’s also a full-sized model. And although it’s absolutely concealable there are a lot of people out there who think a full-sized gun cannot be concealed. So, how about it. 3. I on occasion carry a Ruger P89. In the colder months when concealibility is enhanced by clothing. Either in a shoulder rig or OWB in an Alien Gear cloak Mod. I have carried it in a shoulder rig under a suit at other times. Usually I carry a shield 9.

  4. I have a Glock 17 w Ameriglo night sights (way cool) that I appendix carry and I wear a 1 size larger shirt and you can’t even tell I am carrying

    • When you are thinking about it an awful lot of concealed carriers can be spotted. The oversized shirt is a kind of flashing light to me. Most people do not wear baggy clothes like that, not that loose fitting anyway.

There was a CWP instructor who showed up for class having just come from a political rally outside a Presidential speech. Black over size dress shirt over black jeans. Talked about how he was stopped and interviewed by Secret Service, then city cops and finally county sheriff deputies at different times during the event.

Under that shirt he had his Glock thing, spare mags, a Taser, a spring loaded knife and an extendable baton. Had an ankle holster too with a Ruger .38 snubbie. I thought he was a lousy instructor but he certainly had all his toys.

He’d stayed outside with all the protesters and he was legal in our state. But man was he obvious.

I told him if he was going to be that obvious he may as well carry openly. Also legal here, Constitutional Carry and all that.

  5. Would not own an imported gun when there are so many American made options.

My first regular carry gun was a Smith & Wesson 59. Carried it everyday for over 20 years. Sometimes concealed, sometimes not. Plus two spare mags. Gun worked perfectly with never a hiccup, not once not ever. But it was always a bit thick for my hands.

Current carry gun these last ten years is a Ruger SR9. I’m short, it fit’s my hand better than my old S&W did. Same deal though, two spare mags and sometimes concealed sometimes not. Removed the mag disconnect and put in a Ghost drop in trigger connector, 3.5lbs.

Different situation now though, cannot always carry the full size where I now live and the places I have to go, sometimes the weather is too hot to effectively conceal without looking weirdly overdressed. So there’s always a mouse gun in a pocket and the SR9 in the vehicle if it cannot be openly on my hip.

  6. Back in the day I concealed a S&W Model 65 along with various other bits of bat-gear in 90+degree weather on some humid nights. It can be done, as long as you don’t mind making some odd fashion choices. But, given the option, I’d take something a bit less unwieldly.

  7. Right now it’s winter so I am packing an APX. When daily highs hit 40 then I will switch back to my EMP 4″ which is about the same size. I have carried my 1911s in either 10mm or 45 Auto over the years. About the only time I carry a sub compact is on the golf course.

  8. Gen 5 Glock 17 with grip chop for G19 mags (the anti G19x or G45) most days, occasionally a Glock 35 or GP100 3″ 44spl.

  9. Canik tp-9 which is a copy of walther ppq except a bit cheaper. Can even use walther mags but they’re more expensive so why.

Although its a double stack it’s still thin enough for my hands and with two changeable backs can be customized a bit.

I like that it has a cocked indicator. a decocker and a gap at the eject port for a chambered indicator and a raised bit so you can tell in the dark. Nice trigger. Comes with loader, two back straps, cleaning tools and a plastic holster with a belt or a paddle style attachment at any angle. Plastic case. I have a laser sight on the rail. Sights are so so. Inexpensive. Only time will tell durability. Mine’s 4 now.
