Press release:

Minden, NV, October 17, 2018 – Precision firearms manufacturer, Franklin Armory®, has successfully adapted the patented Generation 3 Binary Firing SystemTM to the AK Platform. Prototype triggers have undergone substantial field testing, and the final configuration will be placed into production soon. The BFSIIITM for the AK platform is slated to start shipping the first quarter of 2019. Pre-Orders for the BFSIIITM for AK will begin on October 19th.

Franklin Armory® President, Jay Jacobson, stated, “The Franklin Armory® engineering and design staff have really worked hard to create a fabulous BFSIIITM for AK that works in as many AK platforms as possible. Given the variety of clones out on the market, this was no small task.”

Fast on the heels of their previous release of the BFSIIITM for CZ Scorpion; Franklin Armory® proves again to be the premier manufacturer of Binary triggers with six models currently available.

The Gen 3 Binary Firing SystemTM was released for the AR platform in August of 2016. All BFSIIITM triggers feature a three-mode safety selector. Mode 1 is “Safe.” Mode 2 is “Semi” for semiautomatic. And Mode 3 is “Binary” mode. In Binary mode, the firearm will discharge one round on the pull of the trigger and one round on the release of the trigger. All BFSIIITM models feature the ability to negate the release round in Binary mode by modulating the safety selector back to “Semi” mode or “Safe.” Additionally, all BFSIIITM are engineered to prevent the operator from modulating the selector to “Binary” mode while holding the trigger back in “Semi” mode.

      • Franklin won’t ship to Florida, even though their devices aren’t banned by name here. However, the law is vague so who the hell knows?

On the federal level, if the rulemaking is put into place, there are already lawsuits waiting to be deployed.

  1. Not a very good demo, really. Whoever was demo-ing that needed some practice: looked like an a crack addict having seizures with that sporadic cyclic rate. I’m pretty sure I can outshoot that with a conventional trigger…

    • I’m pretty sure you cant. It probably would have been more stable if he had been holding the hand guard instead of the mag though. Having shot a full auto ak at a local range, the recoil is not to be sniffed at even for an intermediate round.

  2. President Trump has said he wants all rate increasing devices banned.
The ATF has already written the regulation.
It covers these triggers as well as bump stocks.
No opening of machine gun registry to grandfather them in.
    Comment period has closed.
It’s a done deal. No legislation need be passed. Banning by regulation by unelected bureaucrats.

    • Got any references to those claims? I haven’t heard him say that. The proposed bump stock regs were very specific to bump stocks.

    • Lets make a gun that fires when you release the the trigger. Why would anyone think that a dead man switch on a firearm is a good idea.

Yes I heard that it is a “training” issue. But what are you suppose to train yourself to do, release the trigger the moment you fire. With any other semi automatic firearm you can stop what you are doing at ANY TIME and the gun will not fire any more. Even a machine gun will not fire one more time once you release the trigger.

      • I can’t speak for the Franklin Armory binary trigger, but the Fostech Echo can be fired in regular semi-auto or in ‘echo mode’. It’s just as close as you can get to a select fire on a normal budget and without having to apply for a tax stamp.

      • You can put the safety on or put it in semi-auto before releasing the trigger and it then won’t fire the second shot. These are very cleverly engineered.

  3. It’s the music from “Active Self Protection” on you tube!!!!!!!
Everyone should watch some of those videos.
John narrates the action captured on surveillance videos all over the world of people using guns in self defense.
Lots of criminals wind up taking “ the room temperature challenge “
Sadly, so do a few defenders

  4. I will probably buy this. On a mAK u can bend a piece of spring type steel( ink pen pocket clip) into an l shape, insert it under the trigger disconnecter so when the weapon goes into battery it jars the trigger disconnecter and you get full auto, like way to fast full auto brrrrrrrrrrappp. It takes a bit of tinkering to get the tension just right. I could show you how to do it easier then explaining

  5. Like I said before, its not about the Bump Stock. And I do own a Bump Stock. The “go faster” triggers are cheaper than a real machine gun. Just like a Bump Stock is cheaper than a real machine gun.

The rich will still have real machine guns after a ban on poor people from having rapid fire weapons.

This is economic and class-based discrimination. But this time it involves constitutional rights.

    • BTW
There are many on TTAG who took THEIR MASKS off and supported a ban before President Trump said a word.

      Thank you for your honesty.

    • The Hughes Amendment is a time-delayed ban. Select-fire weapons as carried by infantry are explicitly covered by the Second Amendment. It was bad enough we had to Form 1/Form 4, but the Hughes Amendment became something the Second Amendment was explicitly supposed to guard against.

However, the very nature of lawmaking nowadays is that Congress throws crap at the wall and they hope something sticks. They don’t consider the Constitutionality, they gauge laws based on whether they’ll survive a court challenge, i.e. even if it’s blatantly against the Constitution, they’ll still propose/pass it if they think no one will notice.

  6. Just missed them in Minden. Looks like I moved away maybe a year before they moved to town, and their facility looks to be only a mile or two north of where I used to live. I loved that town – I could see the edge of the Heavenly Valley ski area several thousand feet above us in Minden. Could catch the first lift in the morning, ski for an hour or so, and be at my desk by maybe 10:30. The weather there was very comparable to Denver, while the ski areas up at Lake Tahoe had some of the most snow in the continental US, with dumps of 8 feet not uncommon. Minden and adjacent Gardnerville are surrounded by the Carson Valley, which is a large bowl filled with cattle and horses (living on the edge of town, I would often wake up to the sound of cattle not 100 feet from my back door). Maybe the most idealistic place I have ever lived – and there was no state income tax.

  7. The demo video isn’t the best and a birdcage is not going to keep the muzzle steady.

I’m able to shoot clean double taps within about 6 inches of each other at 40 yards with M67 ammo in my 7.62×39 AR15 with Gogun Supercomp.
