FORCE IMI (@force_imi) is announcing today that it is operating a Homeland Security (“HLS”) training center in Immokalee, Florida. The training facility, branded FORCE CENTER, formerly served as the location of the Hendry Correctional Institute Complex.
The Company offers the Center to government entities and third parties for private on-site training use. It also works with law enforcement, military, fire and EMS first responders to design and develop customized HLS training to meet operational requirements.
“The changing nature of today’s threat environment necessitates corresponding changes to training methods and doctrines. We are actively supporting end-user communities nation-wide as they work to maintain a high level of readiness,” said Roy Levy, CEO of FORCE IMI.
He further stated, “to this aim, the FORCE CENTER remains open and available to Federal, State and Local authorities responding to the current COVID-19 Pandemic. During these challenging times, we are committed to helping our local first responders and crisis management teams across Southern Florida.”
The FORCE CENTER is located in a remote area 40 minutes east of Naples, Florida. The Center encompasses 1200 acres of secured land and includes multi-operational training venues and furnished scenario buildings.
It features:
- off-road tactical driving range
- 360 firing range
- 2-mile precision rifle range
- 4-story sniper tower
- FAA certified unrestricted airspace 3721(Class G)
- 3,700ft runway
- multiple landing zones for helicopters
Additionally, the FORCE CENTER offers on-site housing accommodations consisting of a five-acre housing village with six duplexes and a larger open barracks area capable of sleeping up to 80+ personnel. Each Duplex has 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, a full kitchen, a living room, and covered parking for one vehicle.

Few military or law enforcement need to reach out to private entities. I know neither of mine ever did. Go to Gunsite, Lethal Force Institute, Thunder Ranch, etc.
Several military Special Operations units, the Texas Department of Public Safety Special Operations units, the Texas game warden scout team, and a couple of County Sheriff’s office has all use some of the private ranges near me.
Very few state-owned range have things like a 4 acre Lake, or a Runway large enough to land a C-130 on, not to mention a 12-mile long sniper Target interdiction Loop.. Some of our private ranges do.
I’ve been to several things as both military and a LEO run by private entities. I can tell you anything while at the training about what I do “for a living”. I see others not in the business dressed out in more molle/multicam and more swag than we ever will have.
I did private corrections for a few years and we often crossed trained with our LEO counterparts at our facility. We had areas to deploy gas, flashbangs and pop doors they didn’t previously have.
Talking the boss into sending 2 snipers to a 4 story tower is easier than talking him into building and maintaining one on his dime.
There are a lot of private training companies that have government employees sent to them for tactical training. Having a large training facility like these just isn’t always available. An agency I worked for was able to borrow a couple of abandoned factories and industrial parks for active shooter training with simunitions but was big enough to have a dedicated training department with the equipment to bring with them.
While I don’t know the accounting I suspect government agencies get a better rate and are used as a sales tactic to separate hobbyists from their money. i.e. “We have trained the state police and federal agents from xxx yyy zzz, don’t you want to operate as good as them?” as marketing when they charge a very reduced rate to attract those contracts compared to private customers.
There is a new gun club, JTAC range, just north of this that is better. And relatively cheap.

I like this kind of information to read and contemplate. I had no idea such facilities existed, so postings like this one are very informative.
This article, with its photo, feeds my imagination. I enjoy thinking about how I would build and run a small outpost to survive an apocalyptic world. How large of a population, buildings, training, perimeter size and strength, logistics, on and on. I wish I had a billion dollars.

Well now, if you had a billion dollars you could build an underground vault like in the fallout games. However, the counter argument to that is it may be harmful to your occupants in the long term, as they are so isolated from the rest of the world they grow soft, complacent, and won’t be exposed to any new diseases. So a well defended above ground fortress may be a better option for a permanent civilization. Even a castle like fortification would be effective as artillery and air power will no longer be a thing.
Such a discussion is fantastic and TTAG could devote a series of articles on it. Why would I suggest it here? Because TTAG is one of the few places online that’s has truly open discussion without getting too obscene. Reddit gets overly moderated and the Chans’ just get absolutely batshit. TTAG is a happy medium.

Class G airspace? Yeah- up to 1200’ AGL. Like everywhere else in Florida that isn’t an airport.
Yeah, that part cracked me up. Not sure of the exact location of their complex, but it could be as low as 700′ AGL. Good thing they got that “unrestricted” airspace.
Edit: Looking at the sectional, there is a (Pvt) airfield, 3700′ labelled “Counter Terrorism”. Probably theirs, so it is 1200′ AGL Class G.

It’s staff housing. Prisons routinely have some housing on site. Even at that fed camps have better housing and rec facilities than I had in the army so….

You can train there too. But you’re probably too fat to do any real training.
I mean, if someone wants to learn long-distance shooting it can be tough to find a range near them. I think it would be fun to try shooting at extreme ranges even though I would never do so “tactically.”

There is a very nice Catholic University out there called Ave Maria, a Publix, and some housing.
That’s it.
My buddies and I go out there to some private hunting land for ATV riding and target shooting. There are thousands of acres of swamp, dryland, and pasture.
I like to practice shooting at Coconuts placed on the ground while driving the ATV.
It’s a very nice part of Florida.
