My DSA FAL is my favorite rifle next to the 10/22. It would be very uncomfortable to carry around all day, but for training you can make the recoil as soft as you want by adjusting the gas regulator. In prone, I feel almost no recoil. Mine is very accurate, better than 3 MOA with most ammo, but the fat front site makes max range less than 500 yards.
I used to have an inch-pattern L1A1, but I said goodbye to it a few years ago. Ho-hum accuracy and fire-hose recoil didn’t earn it much love from me, especially in such a heavy and unwieldy package.
