“[Pittsburgh Tactical Firearms] along with AR15news.com, 556 Tactical LLC and Gun Sweeps, found their Facebook pages gone without any warning on Friday,” examiner.com reports. “According to Frederic Wolens, associate manager for policy communications at Facebook, the pages were removed because they violated Facebook’s terms regarding advertising (“Ads may not promote the sale or use of weapons, ammunition, or explosives”). The companies are appealing Facebook’s censorship—which is about as easy as getting a date with Texas Heat Wave Custom Truck Show Girl. We’ll keep you posted, so to speak.

  1. My friends and family questions WHY I refuse to do facebook………….This here is but another reason.

  2. I don’t know that “censorship” is the best word to use here. Censorship implies prior restraint, and no one is forcing Facebook to do this…it’s a private company.

I don’t particularly like it but it’s their choice, just as it is the choice of other companies such as Ebay, PayPal, etc., to be anti-gun. Free market and all that.

    • +1

A lot of “Constitutional scholars” here seem to thing that the Bill of Rights applies to private persons and entities.

    • +1

What this should do is give some enterprising young entrepreneur an opportunity that exclusively caters to the gun community.

      eff fb

    • I agree 100%.

      they have every right to.

I also have a right to tell them to FOAD and not associate with them. Free enterprise is wonderful that way.

    • Yes all these companies are choosing to alienating a significant consumer base by choice. I’m sure no one is twisting their arms at all.

  3. Yep. The largest aggregation of asshats and dipshits anywhere. And a founder who refers to his users as “dumb f**kers.

That, BS==agnd the fact that the whole operation is a gigantic surveillance overlay.

  4. TTAG listed them as gun give-aways a while back, and more than a few of us participated. Are the contests still valid?

    RE: Facebook? And Google?

    They’re as evil as Islam.

    ’nuff said.

    • So you’re saying Facebook isn’t inherently evil but many of it’s adherents use it’s ancient teachings as a cover to violently air modern grievances under the guise of religious zeal just like any other religion?

Not sure I agree, but okay.

  6. FB is a private company. I’ hope they do more things like this to drive companies back to having their own web pages vice riding on facebook.

I’m not on FB and don’t want to be, so I find it irritating when companies choose FB as their web presence vice having their own sites.

    • Well put styr. I have ignored many companies who choose FB as their sole website. I have ignored many hot women who give me their FB instead of number as well.

  7. FB is one of the primary effects and causes of the narcissistic, “me” generation. It’s a sign of our pathetic times and, dare I say, a harbinger of why this nation is failing. Remember, they allowed death threats against Zimmerman, but they pull harmless gun ads. I’m so shocked progressive fascists are hypocrites.

  8. Lets see, RKBA just no right to talk about them, I get it now. One of these days discrimination like that will result in costly lawsuits, stick a fork in the bradys/grabbers then, Randy

  9. My local indoor range, and I’m not mentioning their name so that FB doesn’t drop their site, is posting (even as of today) the new guns that have come in lately. So I can’t understand why they are stopping one but not others! And they are posting handguns and rifles!

  10. I deleted my Facebook 2 months ago, much to the chagrin of my moronic liberal “friends.” It was the best decision I have made in 2013.

  11. Facebook can drown itself in a bucket of piss for any number of reasons, but this isn’t one of them.

It’s their business, they can be petulant children if they want to.

  12. Wait a minute… *Advertising*, or just a Facebook page? Because just about anybody can have a Facebook page, but an ad is something a little different. Although I guess you could make the case that a giveaway or contest is a form of advertising.

Either way, yet another reason why I am not on Facebook and will never put anything I value (i.e., any part of my life) on that site. Almost every day something reminds me why I’m glad I left that hole three years ago.

  13. Hate to break it to all of the Facebook haters out there, but we cannot – should not – ignore this medium.

Aside from keeping up with friends, I use Facebook to post pro-gun articles and pictures. It has annoyed some of my more liberal friends, and some of my friends don’t even comment on the posts. However, I know these posts get read – it has generated many discussions – which is the point.

In the effort to defend the RKBA, we need to use every method at our disposal. I may not have convinced all of my friends to go out and get a LTC (yet), but they know that I – a level-headed, tax-paying, contributing member of our society – am not a wingnut, and I’ve no doubt that some of them are looking at gun owners in a different light because of my efforts.

We can post here on TTAG until we’re blue in the face, but until pro-2A material is plastered all over Facebook, Twitter and every editorial page in every local paper (I’ve done that, too) like it was paid advertising, we won’t make a dent in the propaganda spewed by the MSM.

Remember, we need to win every battle. They only need to win one.

    • Facebook is a dying medium. People are leaving in droves and more importantly, people aren’t joining. The question now is what will replace it.

  14. Pffft. Let Facebook do as it pleases. Facebook is dying anyway. Too many old people got into it, so it’s going to go the way of Myspace and Beebo. The young are migrating away, and it’s that very demographic that drive websites like this.
