As gunfreezone.net discovered, Brian Dzyak is a Hollywood cinematographer who makes movies that “glorify” guns (e.g. G.I. Joe and The Bourne Identity). Of course that’s just fantasy. As is the idea that the NRA is a terrorist organization (posted by Mr. Dzyak on the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence website). The post’s a recent representation of a worrying trend amongst anti-gun liberals: widen the definition of terrorist to marginalize gun rights advocates and gun owners to increase the antis’ power. More worrying still: federal law enforcement agencies are down with that. Why wouldn’t they be? More credibility > more funding > more power > more fun! Here’s the FBI’s “official” definition of terrorism from their report Terrorism 2002 – 2005 . . .

There is no single, universally accepted, definition of terrorism. Terrorism is defined in the Code of Federal Regulations as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).

Uh-oh. The definition of terrorism is up for grabs! No wonder a Hollywood hipster felt free to label the NRA and its members Terrorists with a capital T. You know; aside from the fact that the NRA and its members don’t use unlawful force and violence against threats to persons or property.

As far as Brian, the Bradys and the rest of the gun grabbers are concerned, the devil’s in the second part of the official definition. The NRA’s “furtherance of political objectives” that “hurt” society is reason enough to label them terrorists. Besides, they’re armed!

Gun control advocates are trying to wrap themselves in the mantle of reasonability. They’re use of the phrase “common sense” (explored in a forthcoming editorial by a new writer) is perhaps the best example of their attempts to show the public a kinder, gentler face.

TTAG’s Armed Intelligentsia aren’t that stupid; you know who’s zoomin’ who. But tens of millions of Americans don’t recognize, understand or cherish their gun rights. Those of us who do must constantly expose and counter anti-gun propaganda in order to protect our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

And so we do. Even on Labor Day weekend, it’s a labor of love. Stay safe.

  1. Rather than ” movies that “glorify” guns”, a more accurate description may be “movies that glorify gun violence”. With all due respect to the First Amendment, movies that glorify violence of all kinds, may be responsible (in part) for the level of violence in our society. In much the same way that we do not yell “FIRE!” in a crowded theater, maybe we shouldn’t be glorifying violence (even in a fantasy) to impressionable people…. Maybe we need to conduct a background check before people are allowed to see such movies? Oh, wait! There’s too much money involved?

    • I hope that you are trolling and don’t actually think that running backgrounds checks for violent movies would do ANYTHING. At all. Ever. Not even in a parallel universe.

      • Nope. He’s saying (if I may be so bold as to put words in his mouth) that advertisers spend gazillions of dollars every year influencing people though various media. Which they wouldn’t do if it didn’t work.

  2. Actually, based on the above definition, his claim about the NRA would be accurate…….IF the NRA was engaged in the UNLAWFUL use of force or violence……but they are NOT. However, plenty of organizations that the Hollywood left DO endorse are engaged in those activities…..PETA, the A.L.F./E.L.F., the Occupy movement, the New Black Panthers, etc………

Maybe they should evaluate their own ideology and bedfellows before they start clamoring for roundups and mass ideological “preventive” imprisonment.

  3. Bad comparison, fried chicken doesn’t have any medical benefits… How about saying we should ban opiate prescription to valid patients due to their abuse/misuse on the street. Stop giving out ADHD meds for the same reason. Aspirin can kill if misused… Stop giving it to all the cardiac patients… But to mirror a previous post, more chicken sound good

    • LMAO….nice.

I move to ban Di-Hydrogen Monoxide. It is one of the number one killers world wide, can be deadly in even minute quantities, is used by almost EVERY chemical company in the world, and cause Trillions of dollars in damage and harm every year. You wouldn’t believe the level to which this conspiracy goes………this stuff is so prevalent that companies have fed it to us for as long as there have been companies. The media is also in bed with it because they cover it up as much as they can unless they have to report it……..and then they whitewash and try to shift blame so no one gets it. This stuff has been used in WAR over and over again to kill without mercy. I beleive it is currently one of the number one killers in almost every age group and demographic catagory.

Power to the People!!!!!!!! Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide TODAY!!!!!

      • yes ban it for the children’s sake. how many people die when they fall into it every year? and look at what it did to fukushima? at the very least we need a strict set of guidelines before anyone can be allowed to use the stuff. “water, water everywhere. but not a drop to spare.”

  4. So basically when all their other tactics fail, they start name calling. AAHH brings me back to kindergarden. Good times good times.

  5. I do believe that the Constitution of the United States of America gives every American citizen the right to keep and bear arms. The gun grabbers do not respect the Constitution and for what it stands for in my eyes. It is not the guns that are evil it is some of the people that are evil, guns do not kill, people kill. Our guns keep us safe from the evil that is out there to destroy our nation and our way of life. I am an American and am a proud Veteran. I served in Viet Nam in the United States Army. I spent 10 years of my 60+ years in the military and enjoyed most of them. I retired as a Sgt in a Police Dept. after 22 years of service there, and I can tell all of you this: not once was I present at a shooting when it started, I was dispatched to the shooting….. lets see now, did you get that…. I was dispatched. A normal response time for a police officer to arrive at a scene is say 5 to 10 minutes if you are lucky enought. You see the main problem out there is that some people think, (and God I do not know why) that a gun free area be it a movie house, shopping center, mall or what ever is safe. What a stupid idea, it is an invitation for some terriorist to go in and start shooting unarmed citizens. They know no one is in there to stop them. Do you know why during World War II why Japan did not invade our home land. Because they knew that most Americans had guns and would fight……. thats right because we as Americans have guns and will fight…. that scared the hell out of them… that made America safe. And it makes America safe today from the Terriorist of for example the Muslim Brotherhood, a very well trained group and very deadly. And you know what is so funny about the Muslim Brotherhood right now, and funny is not the right word. There are members of the Muslim Brotherhood in high ranking positions in Home Land Security. They have top secret clearances and have access to all our military, NASA, FBI, Department of Justice and CIA secrets…….. and you say to yourself “no way could this happen” it has happened and is happening…. thank the Obama administration with the shit hits the fan my fellow Americans… we are on a road to the destruction of our great nation…. so, GO OUT AND BUY A GUN AND KEEP AMERICA FREE!!!!!!!!

    • Little John: That was going on really well, you were making a lot of good points, and but then it all went sideways at the end with the Muslim-Brotherhood-Top-Secret-Obama-blarg.

      ‘MURICA!!

You’re that guy, aren’t you? That guy at the gun shop or the gun show, that we’ve ALL run into at least once, who you get into a seemingly normal conversation with, about Glocks, or Sigs, or Mosins, and suddenly, about 3-4 minutes in, the whole conversation goes SCREEEEEEECHING off the rails. Suddenly our everyday 9mm vs .45 conversation has turned into Muslim-Raghead-Allah-Obama-Antichrist invective, and I’m not even really sure how we got here. I try to slowly back away, like you would with a rabid dog, but every backstep of mine is followed by a forward step of yours, because you’re a true believer and I must be converted. I finally see an opportunity, so I tell you to have a nice day and walk away, wiping your fevered spittle from my face while I shake my head and wonder, “What the hell just happened?”

OK, maybe that doesn’t all apply to you specifically, but you get what I mean.

      • Matt in FL,

Perhaps he got a little sideways at the end, but also consider the statistical prevalence of the ‘bad apples’ in government, law enforcement, education, etc. There are people (Holder comes to mind) who have positions of power that they will abuse. Gun rights is not only about self defense, but is its own set of checks and balances.

        • So by his mere definition any lobbying group which tries to persuad the government in any way that you don’t agree with could be considered a terrorist organization.
What about Obama’s use of executive orders granting government agencies like the EPA more power. How do we view that? What about medical lobbiests which use money to schmooze politicians to push for a drugs release? Sure it isn’t bombs or guns but depending on your point of view it could be considered detrimental.

    • “I do believe that the Constitution of the United States of America gives every American citizen the right to keep and bear arms. ”

United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U.S. 542, 551 (1876) – The right there specified is that of “bearing arms for a lawful purpose.” This is not a right granted by the Constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence.

  6. If they want to talk that way I say let ’em. They will only prove to most Americans what some of us already know: that they’re a bunch of barely-functional, deranged sociopaths who are increasingly out of touch with the rest of America.

What outbursts like this really really show us is the desperation people like this feel in defeat.

  7. Fried chicken, obesity? That is a non-analogy. You’d think such a distinguished person would come up with something a bit more on par intellectually. Does this gent equate criminals and law abiding citizens on purpose or has he just got a few cogs rusted inside his brian, er… brain? (No doubt by the mindless fluff they’ve been mass producing in Hollywood.)

  8. WHILE your last paragraph is true, you are preaching to the choir. Few of those who need to be reached read this blog. All of us who agree with you must find ways to reach those who can be influenced by level headed reason. Pejorative, hateful comments only turn people off.

  9. Facebook…meh…you get what you pay for, and for 18 bucks a share it ain’t worth jack.

As for the Brian guy…well, I’ve said before, that I’m old enough to have heard this tune. Back in the hoses and dog era of civil rights, as a kid, I would watch on the small black and white TV set, mean spirited bigoted foaming at the mouth racists being interviewed. They didn’t like the idea of some uppity (n-word) acting like they had to be respected as an equal. Some folks just don’t know when their time is past.

The gun rights/self defense/family protection rights movement is a CIVIL RIGHTS movement. Its actually not about guns. Its about people and their rights. Period, full stop. We need to call out bigots like Brian for what they are.

  10. Go ahead, Brian, go and arrest all the criminals! And when you’re done we can have beer. But until then, LEAVE US ALONE!

    • Why would you alienate the majority the people who stand with you for your second amendment rights with a teenage perjorative like teabagger? I’ll represent those of like mind for limited government and respect for the Constitution, and show discretion by not returning invectives.

  11. Actually, no, it’s like saying that just because someone gets fat on fried chicken doesn’t mean fried chicken should be outlawed for everyone. Idiot.

I think it’s good that we keep getting glimpses like this into the “minds” of extreme gun-grabbers. Keeps us aware. We see them for the true tyrants and sociopaths they are, seeking to oppress and kill any who disagree with them. To use an admittedly tired analogy, remember that the Nazi party and its enforcers were comprised of what had been everyday people and neighbors. This sack of excrement and people like him truly care nothing for the Constitution, rights, equality, and everything that should be part of the US. They will happily man the future gas chambers that kill you and your family. WW2 was not just some historical war that’s over and done with. It’s a snapshot of human history, human potential, and likely tragedy yet to come.

These are our enemies, and deep in the soul, they’re every inch as evil as any mass murderer in history.

  12. Since my original comment seems to have been eaten, here’s the short version.

Be careful what you wish for, scumbag. History has a way of showing how your particular brand of sociopathic evil is dealt with by decent people.

  13. yep, once again the anti’s are calling for labeling law abiding people as criminals. gun control is racist and elitest nonsense. but as we all know it has nothing to do with stopping crime.

  14. This is why everyone should have cared a lot more than they did about the al-Awlaki killing. Obama slapped the “terrorist” label on an American citizen, said he did a bunch of bad stuff, and then killed him, all without ever presenting any evidence for any of it, much less allowing that evidence to be challenged through due process. And he did this to almost universal praise.

So now the principle has been established. If someone is a “terrorist”, which as Robert pointed out, is a term without a precise definition, then their Constitutional rights can be completely ignored, and they can be imprisoned, tortured, and killed, all on the whim of the government with no recourse whatsoever. And all of this can happen on the President’s say so, without requiring any court proceedings, presentation of evidence, or anything remotely resembling due process.

By the way, don’t get distracted by whether al-Awlaki was a bad guy or not, or whether he was guilty of what they said he did or not. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn’t. That’s beside the point. The point is that the Constitution applies to even bad guys. Timothy McVeigh was a bad guy, but he got due process. If there exists a label that you can attach to someone that removes their Constitutional rights, then Constitutional rights aren’t rights anymore, but instead group privileges, to be enjoyed by members of certain approved groups and not others, and given or taken away as deemed fit by the authorities.

  15. I sincerely hope people like Brian would try to actively do something about gun owners-it would provide for a target rich environment-they really should start with groups like MS13,Crips,etc just to get in practice.

  16. Has anyone else noticed how in the wake of these tragic shootings, more and more antis are showing their true colors? Whenever I talk to my left-leaning friends about gun control, I make sure to show them statements like Brian’s. Then I tell them that yes shootings are tragic and saddening, but they are the price of our freedom.
I have them imagine if someone with Brian’s style of “problem solving” were president today and we had no firearms because we let the government slowly legislate us into disarmament. It would be *insert laundry list of historic post-disarmament genocides* all over again. By giving two of my anti-gun friends that speech I successfully convinced them to explore the unknown and go shooting with me. Guess what, they had such a great time that they renounced their anti ways and now own guns themselves. Sometimes all it takes is a flip of the light switch.

I like how the government made sure to put “unlawful” in there in order to prevent themselves being labeled as a terrorist organization – they make the laws, thus any assault they make against us is “lawful”.

  18. I hope that the novel by Matthew Bracken “Ennemies Foreign and Domestic” is just a fiction.. but sometime, went I see the hate the gun control nuts show and says about peaceful and law abiding gun owners, I’m think about this novel in which the gun control freaks took weapons to murder gunsmith and burn gun shop….

In “gun control” it not about gun, it all about control. Notice that the gun control nuts don’t care about other homicide (knife, hammer etc..) but only about firearms homicides, so I don’t believe that they are really concern about public safety, but more about public control.
