    • K, but you aren’t Trump. In the 40 years I taught there were many times I broke up fights between gangstas with bats and numchuks without anything but my bare hands. I’m still standing. I guess it depends on how you look at your job- I couldn’t let someone be beaten down. During the last 7 or so years of my career the school system (Des Moines Public) forbade staff to lay a hand on students- just call the cops. The DMPD hated the district for pushing their problems onto them and the kids looked at teachers like a bunch of emasculated wimps. I should write a book about lawyers and education… If you’re not up on the obama/holder payoffs to keep minority stats out of the system (which evolved into the NICS), educate yourselves. This is a major piece of the puzzle.

      • What? I’m not sure I follow.

Also, a baseball bat is very, very different than a firearm.

I can also say that I fully believe Trump is full of crap. He wouldn’t have gone in with or without a weapon.

        • The teacher who was killed, drove into the ‘gunfight’ unarmed, in a golf cart.

Gotta die of something. Live Big and Praise GOD. HE might smile upon you and say “That was precious, you get to play again”.

        • In case it’s been lost on you in your own little world, it’s pretty easy to kill/be killed with a baseball bat or nunchucks, especially in light of the wielder/gangstas, and especially when you are alone trying to break up the fight. Check stats on the number of intentionally caused deaths and causes per year. Knives/sharp objects usually beat firearms.

At some point, some of you are going to have to start figuring Trump out. He’s playing with a lot of your minds and you won’t allow yourself to see it.

        • Again, and still, he’s asking everyone to nut-up. Make the bad guys call your bluff, not each other. He’s ginning up internal fortitude. USMC Sergeants do this for a living, and they do it whether they are handily winning / or nearly losing the fight.

He’s voicing an expectation, and trying to be encouraging, to the good guys.

      • “What? I’m not sure I follow.”

        This :

“3. My interest was initially accidental. I discovered an untold story of massive scale and consequence as a result of initial research into Trayvon Martin and his High School life.
        4. What I stumbled upon was a Broward County law enforcement system in a state of conflict. The Broward County School Board and District Superintendent, entered into a political agreement with Broward County Law enforcement officials to stop arresting students for crimes.
        5. The motive was simple. The school system administrators wanted to “improve their statistics” and gain state and federal grant money for improvements therein.
        6. So police officials, the very highest officials of law enforcement (Sheriff and Police Chiefs), entered into a plan.
        7. As soon as Miami-Dade began to receive the benefits (political and financial) from the scheme, Broward County joined on. The approach in Broward was identical as the approach in Miami-Dade.”

  1. Personally I think he is full of crap. What else would one expect him to say??? It doesn’t seem to be in his general nature. Permit holder or otherwise.

  2. Who can say what you would really do until you are in the situation?

Certainly not the Sheriff of Broward County, or his deputies.

I do not feel, at this moment, that I could stand idly by listening to gunfire inside the school and do nothing, armed or not. But I certainly would not simply run in if I were not armed.

Even if armed I would make a careful entry. If unarmed I would make an extremely cautious entry looking for any possible way to either surprise and overcome, or failing that to distract the shooter and hope some people could escape (Including me) in the meantime.

Yes, you might die. But if you hid outside until the shooting stopped, could you continue to live?

    YMMV

    • Precisely, and quite concisely stated. One can never be certain of how they would react to an unfamiliar situation. However, the gravity of certain things can be life altering. If one survives that is. If they don’t, then it is irrelevant for the brave and honorable die but once, whilst a coward shalt ever continue to exist in shame as they hath never lived.

    • The four deputies of “Coward County” definitely made it home that night, unlike 17 of the students they were supposed to be protecting.

They should hang their heads in shame of their failure. Correction, they should hang themselves for their shame.

But they were under direction from the “Coward County” sherrif in collusion with the school board to under report crime committed by students. Up until this point they were not reporting crimes of assault, robbery, armed robbery, burglary, home invasion, rape, and more. Perhaps excusing mass murder was an extension of this policy taken to it’s extreme.

  3. I guess everyone here is too young to remember when The Donald made news stopping his limo on the way to a Paula Abdul concert to confront a man attacking another guy with a bat.
Our president is often things that I don’t like, a coward is not one of them.

    • Why’d he chicken out of Nam then? Or is that whole story fake news? I’m actually asking because I don’t know the real story behind that.

      • I won’t fault him there; everyone with a clue was avoiding that hot mess if possible. A smart guy with a bright future honestly had no business wasting his time on Johnson’s boondoggle.

        • Truman started it for the Vietnamese by shafting them by going back on the agreements that the OSS had communicated to the Viet Minh. Kennedy sent the first troops. It wasn’t all Johnson’s doing.

        • Ok, I know it’s real cute and snarky to say something along the lines of “google is your friend” but it’s now proven fact that most of the search engines and news sites are politically motivated or straight up fake news. Honestly, I’d trust answer I got here more than what the first result in a search engine would be. I also figured JWT would probably give me a better answer than most posters here.

      • No offense Nam vets but I barely missed being drafted. I knew a bunch of Vietnam vets. Many ended up completely screwed. A few heroin addicts. Early death. The worst war in our history for no effing reason…until Iraq. Even lurch er John Kerry became a TRAITOR…I’m cool with Trump!

      • He did not chicken out of anything. He was in school for 4 years. Then failed a draft Physical. At last check I did not see Hillary there either, so who cares 50 years later?

    • “Our president is often things that I don’t like, a coward is not one of them”

      Hahahahahaha…..

Thanks. I needed a good laugh

      • The last POS (D) prez with military time was Jimmy Carter, who did nuke time under Rickover, which is an accomplishment, but then he shit the bed helping jihadi’s remove the Shah of Iran, and leaving our U.S. Consulate and attached Military personnel in the desert for 444 days. That apparent ‘weakness’ is more than 3/4ths of the reason for our middle eastern trouble today. (That’s in-writing from Osama Bin Laden)

The Soviets had 28 people taken prisoner that day too. They were returned (well fed, clean clothes, with a shave and a haircut) 28 days later. The Soviets said ‘return them or we’ll nuke your ass to glass’. The only reason it took 28 days is because the Iranians were poorly organized and they weren’t absolutely sure who the Russians were, or which group was secreting them.

        • Actually George HW Bush was our last president who actually fought in combat. He fought in the pacific theater as a pilot in WW2 and killed Japanese fighters, as well as being shot down and captured by the Japs twice.

        • I said: “The last POS (D) prez with military time . . .” (R) President’s in the last 65 years have been few without at least some form of military service.

  4. *This* is the quote you’re reporting on? How about this one;

“Bump stocks, we’re writing that out. I’m writing that out myself,” Trump said. “I don’t care if Congress does it or not.”

  5. His real wish he should worry about is if he should decide to run for reelection, who does he think his would be voters are,oh thats correct the Resist movement will win him reelection.
A president without a nation does him much good.

  6. He’ll win bigger in the EC in 2020 than he did in 2016 at this rate. You obviously didn’t vote for him before, he’ll get by without you again.

    • Tell us about your service Nancy

From snopes (at best a marginally reliable source)
      1968:
Trump received his fourth and final college deferment on 16 January 1968. After graduating from Wharton, he was reclassified 1-A on 9 July 1968. Trump underwent an Armed Forces physical examination (with a result listed only as “DISQ”) on 19 September 1968 and was reclassified 1-Y (qualified for service only in time of war or national emergency) on 15 October 1968.

According to a statement from the Trump campaign, the 1-Y classification stemmed from Trump’s having bone spurs in both heels:

While attending the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton School of Finance, Mr. Trump received a minor medical deferment for bone spurs on both heels of his feet. The medical deferment was expected to be short-term and he was therefore entered in the military draft lottery, where he received an extremely high number, 356 out of 365.

      1972:
Despite the supposedly “short-term” nature of Trump’s disqualifying physical condition, on 17 February 1972 he was reclassified 4-F (not qualified for military service), presumably due to the abolishment of the 1-Y classification the previous year.

      • in 1968 he would have been 22 years old. With any medical condition at all, he would have been a low priority draft. In 1972, at 26 years old, even without any medical condition, he would have been a very low priority draft, especially considering where the US was in the war at that time.

      • “Snopes” is a virtual hotbed of liberal POS (D) B.S. It’s like a Wikipedia ‘hit piece’ is left until moderated or complained about.

I’m not certain any of what Neiowa included was, but I have no interest bothering to verify any of that.

      • Interesting. I didn’t know I liked Hillary because I don’t like Trump.

I thought I disliked both of them, but now I know better. Thanks for telling me.

P.S. I disagree with DaveR’s comment. Trump has gotten things done and I’m not going to bite the hand that feeds me.

  7. I’d run in there, even if it was just to grab a kid and carry them out.
You have to do it, or you have to live with the knowledge that you did nothing.

  8. 5 exemptions from military service for a bone spur, doesn’t even know which foot, but kept him out of Viet Nam. He’d be remembered as a hero if he really did what he says. If not I fear history may judge him more harshly.

    • He’ll be remembered as one of the countries greatest Presidents.

Ohole will be remembered as the reason we won’t have another Kenyan President for at least another 250 years.

Hillary wont be remembered as being involved in a Presidential campaign.

  9. Trump is full of crap, he wouldn’t run into a building with no gun, no ear protection, with screaming, panicking people with a loud ass ar-15 rifle going off. I wouldn’t either, with no gun, that’s suicide. That wouldn’t happen because I’m Always carrying.
That reminds me, maybe i should start carrying ear plugs in my pocket, I hate being exposed to gunfire without ear protection.

  10. Based on the comments from above I’d say some folks need to brush up on their empty handed skills. I watched a video where two Oklahoma women shot a robber at least six times with their guns.

And it still was a wrestling death match because the wounded robber fought them. You need to know and be able to physically fight back. President Trump is a much tougher man than Obama. And Obama got beaten up at a basketball game.

    • You’re not even from here.

Shit hole representatives don’t get to complain about our President or our previous military draft system.

  11. You all are forgetting the hundred or so Secret Service agents that would be following him. He may not be armed but he is never very far from a gun.

  12. I hope I’d have the courage and presence of mind to do the right thing, despite the fear, confusion, and risk.

A 15 year old kid died calmly doing the best he could. I hope I could do half as well, and that I never have to find out.

  13. “I really believe I’d run in there even if I didn’t have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that too.” Screw that.
I would vastly prefer an Ithaca 37.

    • i’m partial to your final statement.
and sandusky is much closer to indianoplace/ hoosiermama than upstate new york.
but if you can find an old slam fire…

  14. Regardless of whether the president has set a lofty goal that he may not accomplish (running to the sound of gunfire), he has exhibited more backbone than the democrat commenters here who start out admitting they’d crap their pants and waddle the other way.

Then again, I don’t know that I’d bother risking my life for a Democrat. Because they sure as hell wouldn’t appreciate it or do the same for me. Maybe we should have politics-based policing?
