Ted Nugent posted the following on his Facebook page this afternoon:

Save the 2A is one of the groups that’s trying to force change at the top of the National Rifle Association.

As Save the 2A puts it on their web site,

We support its mission and purpose as stated in the NRA bylaws. But we are disturbed by the recent scandals and controversies that continue to weaken the NRA’s standing in the public sphere. We want to help the NRA overcome these plagues and emerge even stronger. …

We believe the NRA is (or should be) much bigger than any one person. Save the Second is not calling for the specific ouster of any individual person. Instead, we hope to empower the membership to get more involved, be better informed, and take proactive steps to ensure that the NRA leadership reflects their preferences and values. We also encourage the members to maintain high standards for the directors and officers and to hold them accountable when their behavior undermines the NRA’s purpose and goals.

Posting this video would seem to put Uncle Ted — a member of the NRA board himself — squarely in the camp of board members who are pushing to clean up that operation. Stay tuned.

  1. still say Wayne should step down to resolve the dispute and if he’s a man he would remain as a member.

  2. Can you imagine the Democrats spazzing out if Nugent took over for WLP? With Trump on one side and Nugent on the other, the Dems would be book-ended by two untamed mustangs. That would be worth the price of admission.

        • very true.
I like a lot of what Uncle Ted says, but he goes off and says some awful things sometimes instead of sticking to the point. That would be bad for the organization.
Maybe somebody with a slightly more carefully measured tone (Gary Senise or Mike Rowe?) would be better as the spokesman. Even Wayne himself has been pretty shoddy, and I feel like i’m getting spit on me every time he yells at me from the other side of the tv screen.

    • Picture in your mind a major 2020 campaign rally, with Trump standing at the podium with his big muppet grin and introducing the “beautiful, yuuuuge” Nugent as he walks onto the stage to wild cheers, who then leans back with his eyes closed to the sky while playing the National Anthem a-la Jimmie Hendrix, while a chorus line of hot girls decked out in vintage stars-n-stripes outfits (think Captain America) decorates the view behind them.

Then Nugent invokes his inner Charles Heston, lifts his guitar above his head (conveniently custom shaped like an AR-10), and yells “From my dead cold hands!…”

The Dems would lose their minds.

“It was as if a million voices cried out in terror, then were suddenly silenced…”

    • Whoever, you folks sound as if you are worried that your own goverment is talking your rights away to own firearms, or your own goverment taking your guns from you!
My question is why do you pay taxes to a goverment that can do this anytime they want?

      • If you don’t see the writing on the wall then wake up. They can tax us and try to take our rights too. Remember what Lexington and Concord was about. Remember the shot heard around the world. This was about taxes by the king and gun confiscation. The four father’s lived in this time of tyranny with tryrants who wanted control of all things. Look at the people who are now in your federal state and even local city councils. They say it’s about public safety, ban at rifles and standard capacity mags. Same thing different time. That’s why if you own any firearm you need to be involved to stop them before it’s to late. By the way read the United Nations arms control treaty. It speaks of these thing of banning semi auto rifle and hi cap mags. But Trump removed our country from this agreement. Please I encourage you and all gun owners to stand up and keep your rights now and for the future. It’s to important to throw in the trash can. Some soldier in a war far away give thier life so you can speak freely and to bear arms. This makes all the other amendments possible. Thank you sir.

    • Trump doesn’t care about our 2A rights, we’ve already seen that. If it gets him what he wants, he’ll outlaw all firearms. He’s a disgusting man who could care less about anyone who isn’t super wealthy.

    • Peas in a pod. Both self obsessed, cowardly, draft dodging perverts who love to talk tough, but have never actually done anything tough they’re entire lives. Also why is it that you assume after all these years of being in the thick of it that Nugent is some how squeaky clean in all of this? Thats pretty naive.

      • Some of his music is OK, some is even quite good. But the man himself in his own words

Interviewer: How did you get out of the draft?
Ted Nugent: Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin’ it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin’ around, hippying down, getting’ loaded and pickin’ my ass like your common curs, I’d say “Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin’ around in the gutters.” But I wasn’t a gutter dog. I was a hard workin’, mother****in’ rock and roll musician.

I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin’ and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin’ kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.

See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin’ dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I’m gonna play their own game, and I’m gonna destroy ’em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin’ awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I’ve always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded motherf*cker. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn’t know and I’m vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was — ’cause I was really into bein’ clean and on the ball — I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.

So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn’t believe the smell. They were ridiculin’ me and pushin’ me around and I was cryin’, but all the time I was laughin’ to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, “Oh my God, put those back on! You f*cking swine you!” Then they had a urine test and I couldn’t piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin’ up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin’ up. So I went home and cleaned up.

        • Artists being interviewed for the millionth time by reporters asking the same inane questions over and over often amuse themselves by making sh!t up. I know. Being in the music industry for 40 years has proven this over and over. Your quote comes from a 1967 article in the magazine, High Times. You would be better off looking at a reliable source like the records of the U.S. Army.

Nugents record shows that he received a high school student deferment (1-S) in 1967 and then a college deferment (2-S) in 1968. Then in 1969 he was classified as 1-Y which is given to recruits who have “medical which are limiting but not disabling”. These recruits are qualified for service and would be called “in times of emergency”. In 1971 the 1-Y classification was discontinued and Ted’s classification was changed to 4-F. None of this occurred because of acting crazy, getting high or not bathing as the oft told mythology goes.

Thirty yeas later Ted Nugent told a UK newspaper that the previous account of his draft-evading activities was a story he made up and fed to a gullible High Times reporter. Like I said, I’ve seen it happen many times.

        • Uh huh. Sure, Carl. That’s a pretty convenient thing for Ted the NRA dude who is trying to capitalize on the Tea Party movement to say about Ted the rock star.

      • I guess people see themselves in him.

I find him pathetic and every day I don’t hear him speak is a good day.

  3. Something is going on with the NRA, every video i hit today had a NRA commercial, even CNN, and on live TV there was a NRA commercial today

  4. Well I’m one of the people who like him what’s the matter Ted Nugent and Alex Jones too Manley for you grow some balls we’re in a fight here

    • Maybe the fact he’s a useless preening turd who sucks on the membership’s teat about as much as LaPierre or Hammer, Mr. Manliest of Manley Men? Learn the difference between competence & bravado, please; if we all can do that, we’ll be in a whole lot better position than we are now.

  5. If ALL of the members of the NRA (not just the high rollers with life memberships) had an actual voice in the running of the NRA, the present troubles would soon be fixed. As of now, the NRA is run by an old boys network and is circling the drain.

    • If I understand the bylaws, life members (and all those levels above) have the same pull as me – annual member with more than 5 years of membership. Let me know if I’m mistaken.

      • Life membership and above gets you EVEN MORE opportunities to contribute to WLP’s wardrobe, intern support, and retirement fund, but nothing else. My wife even gets calls from “Mrs LaPierre”. I might too, as my legal first name could be taken as masculine or feminine, but have given up answering unless they leave voicemail.

  6. Ted can take his wang dang and doodle some place else.
I like Ted but as far as he and the NRA.
Hes always been in their back pocket as far as Ive known.
Puppeting what the higher ups wanted him to say or do.

    • I heard people saw him at the floor of the NRA’s annual members meeting hanging out and getting fawned over but they didn’t see him at the actual meetings.

Dereliction of duty is a sin.

  7. Yech, him. Probably trying to use the drama to get attention and make himself look good. To me this further proves that you’re not just going to get rid of Wayne and a few others and be fine. There’s other trash waiting to take their place, some of it flamboyant, with a questionable past.

    • Didn’t Flamboyant Trash open for Scissor Sisters at the Alternative Girlfriend festival headlined by Barenaked Ladies back in the day?

Or am I misremembering how many bullets?

    • I do. He is a Board of Directors member after all. Just like the old Hammer. No-shows in meetings considered, of course.

      • Seems to me that 76 members on a board of directors scattered across the country, many of them celebrity stunt members, is a purposeful recipe for getting nothing done.

Attendance at board meetings is dismal. None of the BoD knows what the rest of the BoD is up to, let alone what’s cooking in the executive suite.

The only way this changes for the better is if 40+ people pull their heads out of their asses, fire WLP, and voluntarily fire themselves, too. They can run for the board again if they want, but this whole rotten structure needs to be pulled down and rebuilt.

  8. save the 2A emailed me. I emailed back, told them that they had to make a complete break of all the old leadership. All had to go. Had to remove all the cancer. Never heard back from them

  9. Oh, so the guy who took $50K for a single day appearance signing autographs at the NRAAM convention & has failed to attend a single BoD meeting, is interested in reforming the corrupt & indolent figures in the NRA? That ass can start with reforming his own ass.

He just doesn’t want to be tossed out on his ear with the rest of the trash when Garbage Day finally comes around.

  10. Ted, I do agree that yes there are some fixes that to be done. I’m a current member been one for 25 plus years. But instead of folks bitching, why don’t we all help fix the issues. This organization 2nd amendment foundation, and goa is our lines of defense from the gun grabbing liberals. If we are arguing and bitching amongst or selves we are falling into a hole they want us in. Let’s all take the high road and do a much better job. Those who own any firearm and don’t throw in a few bucks a year and don’t contribute in some way, that’s an issue that must be fixed. We all are in this together and we all must send our reps a very strange and loud message. We will not tolerate socialist gun control schemes. If they do follow through with this agenda, fire them. It’s we the people not them and the people. Wake up folks, it’s your rights to. Passive behavior gets one no we’re, action and a pro action approach goes much further with results.

  11. Uncle Ted “Crickets” actually speaks, what spoke volumes was his { F } rating in defense of the 2 nd. amendment, just what kickbacks is he scoring thru his silence, which is out of place for Uncle Ted.
