The vicious cycle continues. And having failed to learn from the tragedies of the past we continue to tolerate and give voice to the intolerant 2 legged animals amongst us. To attack a person, physically or verbally because of their race or religion should be off the table. But ignorence prevails.
Well, “tolerate and give voice to . . . ” is what we do (theoretically) in this country. Something about free speech as articulated in the First Amendment. There are ignorant and intolerant on all sides. We got Nazis, KKK, Westboro Baptists, Black Panthers, and on and on. As the saying goes, I might disagree with what you say but I’ll defend your right to say it. Or something like that.
And the Second articulates the right to defend ourselves when it goes beyond words.

Just because someone believes in an ideology that most people don’t agree with doesn’t mean they should be put on a constitutional “no fly” list. Cherry picking who gets to be defended by the Bill of Rights and who doesn’t is akin to anti-gunner tactics.
Take our matt for example. Sometimes he says things we see as racist and all though I don’t agree with what he says, I don’t want to deny him of his right to share his opinions. His beliefs are no more or less important than yours or mine. They’re just words on paper or thoughts in our heads. He is just as protected under the 1st amendment as you, I, and every other American citizen. If you don’t like what someone has to say, then change the channel, walk away, don’t read it , etc.
I’m not sure if you noticed but this country was founded on racism. Ever wonder what happened to all the native americans who owned this land before us? Our ancestors ethnically cleasened them. Keep that in mind next time you sing the pledge of alegence at a sports game, or say god bless america.
My ancestors didn’t legally immigrate to this country until the 1920’s. Nobody in my extended family is in any way related to that time period. Even if I did have ancestors who were in some way connected to the conquest of what is now the USA, I wouldn’t care. I was not alive then, and am in no way responsible for what a bunch of people did before my time. I’ll be as damn proud or disappointed with my country as I want based on how I see it through my own eyes today; not by what happened in the past.
Tell me one country that wasn’t formed in violence and exploitation. The people of that country can have the right to pass judgement on the less perfect countries.

I’ve read the 1sr amendment and in theory I agree with it. But some of the garbage that gets protected by 1a is just that, garbage.
At least the police are guarding against the attacks instead of perpetrating them. I have been seeing stories like this off and on at least since 9/11, and I wonder how much more of it we don’t hear about. Afterall it’s a very uncomfortable subject for western elites on many levels.

My family has been in America since the 1740s but we have a fairly strong German heritage (the whole area we come from in Texas does) news like this makes me ashamed to be part German. At least the government is on the right side this time and I hope any Jew who is threatened is allowed a concealed firearm.

Isn’t hate speech banned in Germany, particularly if it involves references to the Nazis? This is an illustration of why bans are ineffective. Without a police state to control all actions, some will violate the ban, whether we’re talking about speech or about possessing a firearm. I’ll take our American approach, thanks. Having spent 5 yrs in West Germany( 1983-1988) I noticed there was a lot of anti whatever riots going on( take your pick: Jewish,Americans,Turks,etc) but it was and I think still is illegal to possess or use in any form anything related to or having to do with Nazi’s and/or Nazi propoganda!!
Was kind of funny in a way because most of the rioters were younger 20’s and teens it seemed like! There were older adults but they only seemed to come around for the serious stuff( think Baader Mienhoff Group, etc).
It is ignorant and counter productive if we really think about it to be racist or prejudice against anyone or any one group but such is life! Like it was stated above: I may not like what you say but I will defend your right to say it!! As long as you cause no physical harm!!

We all know we will never see an actual Utopian world like the anti’s and others seem to think we need or can get by following their rules and scriptures but being able to actually practice and follow the constitutional rights as awarded us by that great document we can do many different things to make life a little easier for those who need it!! As we all know there are a thousand different opinions on what rights various amendments grant us but some people just aren’t happy unless they can meddle in the affairs of others to the point of being able to tell you when, where and how and how much it will cost you just to eat an breathe their air and food!!!

Don’t forget Speedracer5050 … the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights do not award, grant, or convey rights. They simply state some of the many rights that we as humans have — and tell government to keep their grubby hands off.
There are always enough political/religious/racial-ethnic extremists and haters, regardless of their percent in a given population, to call for common sense carrying of guns for self-defense. Even if the threat is relatively small today we know from history that things can quickly escalate. Never again.
