We’re sorry to burst your bubble of denial, Shannon, but another good guy with a gun stopped two bad guys with guns in Valdosta Georgia Monday night. Unfortunately, not before his wife and son had been shot.

Police say they responded to a home on Emory Drive on Monday night, after a woman and her son were shot during a robbery. They told police her husband grabbed a weapon when he heard the commotion and fired at two black men multiple times as they tried to get away.

The un-named home-owner managed to plug both yoots who were later apprehended and the wife and son will apparently recover. The delusional Ms. Watts will likely chalk the incident up as another figment of gun owners’ paranoid, violent collective imagination.

As always, we report, she derides.

  1. Don’t say “yoots,” it’s racist. They are morally challenged demographic victims. And don’t you forget it, pilgrim.

  2. I am by no means defending Shannon, but she was talking about public mass shootings, not home invasions.

She was still wrong, but you’re taking her comments out of context.

    • No, no we’re not. She is taking all of reality out of context, and that’s mostly because she doesn’t live in it.

        • Please give the Hysterical Mother the benefit of the doubt. She is not a wacko, she is just a very hard working, very well paid professional liar.

        • Watt’s argument is identical to the claim by the anti vaccine people that vaccines don’t save lives because very few if any people saved can be named.

      • Actually, you are. Here’s the famous quote:
“Is there an example in school shootings or a mall shooting or these public facilities, where that has been wrong? Where a bad guy with a gun has been stopped in any other way or by a person other than a law enforcement officer with a gun or by killing himself?” asked Blackwell.

“This has never happened,” replied Watts. “Data shows it doesn’t happen.”

There have been some cases, so her absolute statement is wrong. However in most cases, the murderer kills himself or the cops do. But then, that’s probably related to the fact that so many of these shootings take place where law abiding citizens don’t carry carry guns, because it’s illegal.

    • Her recent statements on CNN were that self-defense shootings “never happen” and there is “no data” supporting claims that they do. Not armed citizens stopping spree killers – defensive firearms uses.

    • Even when they try to clarify, they still get it wrong. From:http://www.guns.com/2014/06/09/watts-of-moms-demand-action-good-guy-has-never-stopped-bad-guy-with-gun-video/

“What we mean to say is that these events are extremely rare — and independent research backs us up: the National Academy of Sciences conducted a review of research on firearms and violent crime and found ‘no credible evidence that the passage of right-to-carry laws decreases or increases violent crime,’ ” said Erika Soto Lamb, the group’s communications director, in an email to Guns.com.

  3. Gotta love the amoral headline “Home Invasion Gone Wrong.” You know, as opposed to the good home invasions, the ones that go right.

Do these morons in the media who use these nihilistic headlines ever stop and think about what they’re saying? Apparently not.

  4. I wonder about the legality of shooting at fleeing “yoots.” That said, if both my wife and kid had just been shot by these guys, I think I’d happily ventilate whoever did it, regardless of whether they’re facing me or not.

I’m glad this story has a happy ending, though.

    • The “fleeing” yoots were armed and dangerous and had already shot two inhabitants. It’s not like they’d thrown up their hands and surrendered. Given that the use of deadly force by the burglars was proximate in time to the shooting by the defender, I’m thinking that the shooting by the homeowner was part of a single event and was valid self defense under GA law.

      • Go Ralph go! You’re not required to let a lethal threat make it to cover. They show up, they shoot, they run, you shoot, you’re cool. Everything is predicated on them being someplace they should not have been (someone else’s home) and doing things they should not have done (shooting the people who lived there). We fortunately (in most states) have laws governing these sorts of things that allow shooting the low life bastards who pull this crap even when they are ‘fleeing to cover’ to continue their violent actions. By all means, shoot them in the back.

      • Sounds like the Law of War: If they haven’t thrown their weapons down and their hands up, they’re combatants.

    • By and large, if your attackers already used deadly force on you (or your family), and they are still armed, and you can see them, they are still a deadly threat.

Unless they have thrown their weapon out of reach and surrendered, they are still a threat. Who is to say that they were not running for cover or to get help from yet unseen accomplices and continue to attack you?

    • I am glad that you can confirm it … I was about to call B.S. because we all know that criminals will just use your own gun against you. /sarcasm

  5. She’ll chalk this up as two children shot at by a gun bully, and add it to her next list of shooting victims. She’ll also work out how close it was to a school for bonus points.

    • She’ll also count the wife and son as victims of gun violence to prove that you’re more likely to be shot in a home where there are guns.

      • It doesn’t seem unlikely at all that she will count all 4 of them for purposes of “gun injuries are more likely to occur in a home with guns.” After all; all 4 of them WERE injured in a home where a gun was kept.

      • “the nitwits who walked over the Brooklyn Bridge to protest guns had armed guards”

Oh, that’s OK, because they had badges. They believe only people with badges should be armed. So all we should need to do is have some badges made up, and we can open carry anywhere!

        • Actually, the four NY cops that were mentioned in the NYDN article were controlling foot and bicycle traffic around the group, not escorting the “hundreds of thousands of marchers.”

  6. What a crying shame neither of the ladies was prepared to defend herself and her family. What if “daddy” had not been home?

Get a gun, ladies, and learn how to use it.

And no, RockOnHellChild… All I’ve ever read quoting mz Shannon is clear that she has never heard of a defensive use of a gun and KNOWS that it is impossible. But it’s hardly relevant. What is the point of arguing about something said by someone so incredibly stupid?

    • “What is the point of arguing about something said by someone so incredibly stupid?”

This must be your first time on a gun forum… Stand by for old 9 vs 45 debate, you’re in for a real treat.

      • As I said, there is no point in arguing about stupid things, let alone stupid people like Shannon. I’ve carried a gun for more than ten years, and I’ve been on a lot of forums… I simply leave when people insist on silly arguments. 🙂

You carry what you like, and I’ll do the same. 🙂

  7. “Good home invasions” gone right are what the shannonites want. They use it to build the case for invasion of privacy, civil disarmament, and police militarization. This is gone wrong, because it demonstrates the folly of their argument.

  8. He shot black men? Did they wear hoodies & look like Barry’s sons? That’s racism & profiling.
Maybe they were just asking for directions….’Cause we know no one ever has a defensive gun use..

    • I’ll bet they wore tee shirts and sideways baseball caps and cried like Barry’s daughters. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

  9. If this would have happened in another state, say MA, RI, NJ, MD, CA, IL, CT, NY, you know the ones, and you get the idea, charges against the shooter/victim, would already have been filed.

    • Not CT. We have pretty robust self-defense laws here. Once you’ve kicked in someone’s door, you’ve triggered all the requirements to validate the use of deadly force. Once you do that, we can shoot you.

    • The way it works in the Worker’s Paradise, Maryland:
      – The perp must be inside the house
      – The perp must have a weapon in their possession
      – The perp must be shot in the front of their body
      – The perp must be unknown to you before the shooting.

If any of the above conditions is not met, you’re going to have a rough time of it at your arraignment. Especially in an election year.

  10. But I am sure, no doubt, that they were just good kids who got involved with the wrong crowd and they were just starting to turn their life around. Oh and… Look at this baby!

  11. “The delusional Ms. Watts will likely chalk the incident up as another figment of gun owners’ paranoid, violent collective imagination.”

When the truth is unacceptable, it becomes the fiction of others.

  12. For anyone new to TTAG or who missed the CNN interview, where the hosts of the New Day show at CNN,

set up a spokesman from the Open Carry group in Texas, who was defending the tactic of open carrying long guns in public demonstrations, in places like Chipotles and Target,

with a counter appearance by Shannon Watts- go to this link and listen for yourself- http://iqmediacorp.com/ClipPlayer/?ClipID=246ebdf1-b8b0-417e-be98-d04b9b331602

Short version- Ms Watts, Bloombergs paid PR person for Everytown, which used to be Moms Demand Action, a (failed) astroturf campaign funded out of MAIG, Bloomies failed astroturf coalition of other progtard Mayors who want to control guns,

responded by twisting away from the point- about is it ok to demonstrate for gun rights,
to making her talking points- claiming the stats were NRA fictions, paranoia, is she safe with her kids from these people with no background checks, unlicensed, etc, etc
(keep in mind the NRA had already made a national press release pointing out its view that open carry ARs in suburban restaurants as a bad tactic for getting open carry handgun)

    about 6:18 in the clip,

and then moving on to the ridiculous allegation, Ms Watts made-
which is inherently bogus for anyone who has read their own local news for any period of time, or American Riflemans monthly feature article on defensive gun uses, summarized nationally- dozens and dozens yearly-

Has a good guy with a gun ever stopped a bad guy with a gun?
(famously quoted by Wayne LaPierre of NRA, post Sandy Hook, on why to train teachers and principals to carry, as do responsible citizens in places where CCW has been allowed, and crime rates dropped)

“never happened, statistics prove…” Ms Watts

And keep in mind- this was in response to a direct question from one of the two hosts- at about 7:30- “has there ever been any example of where in a school shooting, a mall shooting, or any other example, ‘where a good buy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun’ “?

So, Ms Watts blatantly lied, and was not even questioned- just left as the last comment, and thanked, by CNN.

So, here you have a national “news” organization, granted in a saturday opinion lite format show, where the producers teed up a direct, unambigous yes/no concrete question, AND allowed Ms Watts, Everytown, to blatantly lie and state the exact opposite on national TV.

Keep in mind that Bloomberg publicly announced he was spending $50Millions of his own wealth to quote unquote- target and destroy the NRA.

Now, Ms Watts is a paid employee of Bloomberg, so she can be forgiven for saying lies, even if they are blatantly lies and stupid ones at that, and one can forgive Bloomberg for his poor investment, and undoubted ego mania, in his quest, to keep putting Ms Watts out there, beclowning herself, but you really have to wonder-

Just what is CNN getting out of this? I know its hard to believe that CNN, once a news organization known for its reporting, would double down on lies, like the Eason Jordan producer admission about following Saddam Hussein’s PR guy, Baghdad Bobs, edits, in order to get first of the line access on the news in the Gulf War,

but its apparently come to that, in the desperate quest of the anti-2A rights narrative by the progtard media.

You wonder how much $$$ Bloomie paid for that paid advertising…and what those two talking heads at CNN got for that shameful performance.

    • Now that I think of it- theres a nice meme, and some branding to consider passing along-

Shannon Watts- Bloomberg’s own ‘Baghdad Bob’, peddles paid anti-gun disinformation for CNN national distribution, and lies about obvious common-sense solutions. “No good guy with a gun ever stopped a bad guy with a gun. Ever.”

      Can anyone say “Eason Jordan?”

  13. they only tried to run away because they both realized “OH SH!T WE’RE MISSING CHURCH AND THEN VOLUNTARY COMMUNITY SERVICE AT THE YOUTH CENTER!!” But this white racist, probably rich, homeowner prevented them from turning their lives around when he cowardly used a gun to defend his spoiled family.
