Shannon Watts (courtesy usatoday.com)

Thursday afternoon. A woman is walking down the street not far from Milwaukee’s District 4 cop shop. An unidentified dood strolls up and pulls a gun on her. And that’s when she pulls one of her own. Both fired. He beat feet. She wasn’t hit. It’s not clear if he was. According to Shannon Watts and her perpetually demanding moms, incidents like this one just don’t happen. Besides wondering how badly this might have gone for her if she hadn’t been carrying, the question is, would MDA have preferred that the woman were defenseless? . . .

Of course they would. Because it’s not safety that Shannon’s shrill gun control shills are concerned with, it’s civilian disarmament.

Successful defensive gun uses like these don’t register with (and certainly aren’t acknowledged by) them. They prefer to preach that women owning guns are only putting themselves in more danger. That they’re too stupid, weak and untrained to ever effectively wield a heater. Carrying one only invites the bad guys to take them away and use them against their victims.

Why don’t you tell that to the woman walking down the street in Milwaukee, Shannon?

  1. Shannon doesn’t care about the issue one way or the other. She is a professional public relations expert, paid by Bloomberg to market a particular message. If he paid her enough, the message could be on how nutritious puppies are or how cigarette smoking is actually good for your health. The message doesn’t matter. The money does.

  2. This didn’t happen, to them. And if it did it was just another opportunity for another gun to hurt some bystander a block away.

  3. The reverend Bill Hicks once made a worthy point regarding marketing/political tools like her.

But depending on the method employed… well, it would probably only strengthen her ‘case’.

  4. We all know that crime is down by something like 50% over the last 20 years. I remember reading someplace about how the media reports on gun-crimes increase by something like 113%, and gun defense went way down. Does anyone remember, or can link to an article or study showing the increase in media reporting?

  5. Heads up gentlemen,

I did not know where else to put this, but here it is anyway. There is a woman that posted a meme stating that a Ruger 1022 is the most dangerous rifle in production because it is designed to kill 22 people with 10 rounds.

    Many well meeting people have attempted to politely correct her. Others were not so polite but these folks were in the minority. After looking at her posts on her page and some of the replies that she’s given to other people on this subject and also on the subject of background checks the following is clear;

It appears that she’s just trying to stir the pot get people upset, and hopefully get them to say something off-color so she can point to it and say; look at the gun nuts, see how violent and crazy they are!

I won’t mention her name because in several of her posts she gloats, and is quite delighted with the fact that she’s managed to fool a “gun nut” with here clever posts and has drawn a following. She also claims that she posted it knowing full well that it was ridiculous and untrue. She states that it was satire and thet anyone who took it seriously is an idiot, apparently this includes the well-meaning people that tried to correct her. It seems more likely that she believed it and posted it and is now trying to save face by claiming that it was satire meant to ensnare and embarrass the people of the gun.

Judging from the hashtags on her comments I would bet my life that she’s a member of MDA. I say this because she clearly has no interest in a give-and-take dialogue or learning anything that does not fit her worldview for that matter.

If you see her “posts” please do not feed this self admitted troll (she has told several people that her intent is to agitate and embarrass) people like this feel validated when confronted, and perhaps if we ignore her, she will go away, or at least people will see that no one is interested in her games. Peace:)

    • Not all MDA heads are created equal. Sure, some are vacuous holes in space, where knowledge goes to die, prevented from imploding only by sheer thickheadedness. But other’s aren’t empty. Some are teaming with ideas, an entire ecosystem of hot air and fresh manure, just looking for a little spark to set of the methane-based fuel/air bomb in their brain cases. I need a drill and a lighter. Metaphorically speaking, of course.

    • You see that look on a lot of suburban white women’s faces who are hopped up on various antidepressants to deal with the stress of having it all.

      Giggle.

    • Man, you beat me too it. That photo could well have been her head shot to the casting director. Very creepy indeed. She definitely looks like she’s on something.

  6. Those of you making childish comments about Ms. Watts’ appearance are hurting the pro-gun cause. Foolish. And juvenile. Stick to arguing the issue.

    • Actually, I think you have a point. I’m going to stick with my observation, however, as I believe Shannon’s eyes are a perfect illustration of the near-complete lack of mental acuity behind her own “arguments”. Aside from the absence of fact or logic , it also strikes me a kind of evil that, to the extent she really believes in her cause, RF is exactly correct, she and her ilk would rather see a woman raped and murdered than see her use a firearm in self-defense.

    • I agree with Reason. Come on guys, insulting Watts’ appearance only hurts your credibility. If you care about gun rights, focus on the self defense issue and don’t post things you wouldn’t say about your own mother. Be a mensch, not a lame.

    • I think that criticizing her *facial expressions* is a bit valid. Not her looks. But the look she gives people. It says a lot. And in her case, it says, with a faux little smile, “You’ll do what I want, or I’ll end you.”

Not saying she will, or can. But in her mind, and evidenced in her expressions — I think she’s calculating.

  7. I actually want Shannon and her crew to continue draining Mikey’s coin. Jabber the jaw, promote peace, disarm the masses…in the end the message to forgo lawful self protection to others and wait while a criminal harms has no audience or subscribers. She’s the one who has to sleep knowing her ideas slaughter innocent citizens. Fine example of placing coin over principles.

  8. Why do we continue to make every post about MDA? Seriously. It was funny at first. Then ironic. Then sad. Now its getting frustrating. Every gun related post does not need Shannons wonky eye or a random MDA plug. They know they lost the midterms in a hard way. Can we please discuss something else now? PLEASE?

    • You can discuss whatever you so choose. You are at liberty to cease reading an article when you see the phrase “MDA”. For the rest of us, and those on the fence with genuine intent, it is useful to keep highlighting the blatant falsehoods uttered by this group that others may believe to be fact. Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth. If you want to enjoy your Constitutional right to bear arms you need to be vigilant against those who actively seek to strip that right from us.

    • Okay, and I’m tired of *this*. If you want to just “get back” to gun reviews or ammo penetration tests, visit TFB or something, there are venues for that.

Personally, I’m not in Shannon’s coffee klatsch, and I want to know what they’re up to. TTAG isn’t giving her legitimacy – she already has it with a whole lot of people. The point that Dan made in this writeup may get a gear or two turning in someone’s head. And please don’t trot out the old line of it not being possible. I used to be an anti, and that’s not something I hide on this site.

What is a REALLY BAD IDEA is TTAG (or any other sites like it) turning into nothing but an echo chamber. Standing here and patting eachother on the backs isn’t going to do a damn thing. MDA has a media machine, and we can either let her claims go unquestioned — because it annoys you — or we can actually put counterpoints out there that get people thinking.

No, they do not “know” they “lost the midterms”. You really think that it’s suddenly over? Forever? That the Bloomberg-MDA-Everytown-Brady gun control operation is just going to say “Welp, guess that’s that.” ?? These guys have been working the boiling frog effect for decades. What they can’t do politically they’ll do through stigma and media campaigns. It’s NOT over.

You can stick your fingers in your ears and claim that there’s no way they’ll ever win. Just because you don’t like thinking about it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be taking these guys head on in the “fact” and court of public opinion sphere. I’m sure some people reassured themselves of that everything was going to be fine just before the first AWB was passed. Do I seriously need to fall onto the old saying about freedom and eternal vigilance???

It doesn’t take much to scroll your mouse down to the next ammo review or whatever else floats your boat. I’d rather have it here and be able to opt out of it, than not have it here at all.

  9. Shannon’s remedy for a self defense situation is to pick up the phone and call 911 so that guys with guns will come and sort it out for you. Derp.

Or of course if you have the cash on tap like Bloom-turd you can just hire gun toting, shaved head types to travel around with you.

    F em, and their ‘pinions.

  10. She looks really pretty. Look at those eyes and that little half-smile. She has a long elegant neck. Her hair color suits her skin tone and the cut frames her shapely face just so….I think I’m falling for her.

Of course the fact that she is a barking moonbat does temper my adore for her somewhat, but I still find her a cutie.

I wonder what her feet look like?

    • Honestly, I think she looks permanently condescending. Like she’s about to talk to you like you’re a puppy. The tilted head, the disapproving-while-conceited but mock-concerned look in her eyes..

Every look she gives the camera is over-wrought and not that of a normal empathetic person.

I honestly don’t think normal people can relate to her. I think that people who like to tell other people what to do, however, probably can.

    • Now you see what I see, eh? 🙂

Eventually, Bloomy will get tired of wasting $$ and move on and Shannon will have to scramble for work. See you out on MLK Drive in the big city

  11. “would MDA have preferred that the woman were defenseless? ”

Not even worth asking. It is, of course, the most noble of choices to be a victim. There’s plenty of professional victims out there.

  12. “the question is, would MDA have preferred that the woman were defenseless? ” Yes, Shannon wants women to be the victims of violent crime. That is how her employer makes money, victimizing women.

    • The 1 percenters (total number of police, judges, procecutors, corrections, probation, legislators, elected representatives) WANT victims of rape, murder, & robbery. Keeps them employed and if anyone protest, they’re liars.

The simple act of lawfully carrying will do more to stop criminals than any method or crime reduction program.

  13. Well, this would never happen in the first place with an universal background check, national gun registration, smartguns, gun free zone everywhere for a complete gun ban! You gun owners are just idiots that don’t want to learn anything about gun violence because you’re manipulated by gun lobbies such NRA and gun manufacturers! Guns are evil, mostly the black assault ones with large magazine clips… it would have been a shame and would have cost a tons of taxpayers money in universal health care if they guy would have been shot and would end up to the E.R. Thank god, he’s alive and could run away from this dangerous and irresponsible gun owner woman. We should pass a new gun law to be sure self-defense would be purely illegal. She deserves to go in jail!

    [/sarcasm]

  14. Of course MDA would never acknowledge this incident as a neutral or, God Forbid, positive thing for women because it puts the LIE to the propaganda Bloomberg is paying SW to create and advance.
DZ’s assessment that MDA wants women to believe “That they’re too stupid, weak and untrained to ever effectively wield a heater.” fits right into the Democratic Socialist agenda to keep women on their “Big Government Plantation” along with Black People, LGBT, Hispanics and eventually everyone else.
We know better. We know women are every bit as capable of “wield(ing) a heater” as men, and women are at a greater danger level of criminal and personal predation/violation than men. In that sense it is as crucial (actually more) for women to have the means and training to defend themselves, and be actively encouraged to do so.
So, Ladies, I say Arm yourselves with GUNS, get some training (from whoever you feel comfortable with), practice (regularly and frequently), and know that it is better to be prepared to defend yourselves than be a defenseless victim. Put the LIE to everything Shannon Watts says and flip the bird to Bloomberg and the Democratic Socialists and let them know they can shove the Big Government Plantation up their collective (pun intended) a$$es.
Can’t resist…That photo of SW just plain creeps me out…is she hoping for a part in a Zombie Flick?

    • Done and done.

Also – Yes, I’m sure she takes a few minutes to get her “camera face” on before these shoots. A lot of the menfolk around here seem to think it’s sexy, but her expression pushes my creepy buttons bigtime.

      • Outstanding, Michelle! What are your thoughts on how we can positively encourage women to prepare themselves for personal defense? Women should be capable of defending their person from criminal predation/violation, but I would think women who are Mothers would be very concerned about protecting their Children, as well. Seems counter-intuitive that many women want to protect their Children FROM guns rather than WITH guns. You can’t do one very successfully without the other….if that makes logical sense.

Also – Yeah, I agree with your assessment of SW and her “camera face” completely. I could never get past the “creepy factor” with SW no matter how benign and reasonable she tried to appear.

        • “Also – Yeah, I agree with your assessment of SW and her “camera face” completely. I could never get past the “creepy factor” with SW no matter how benign and reasonable she tried to appear”

Yeah, that’s why we’ve assigned Dirk to handle her affairs for us.

        • Gee, I wonder if Dirk will suffer from PTSWS? We had better be prepared to get him immediate and effective treatment..if there is any….

      • Yea, the first pic I saw of her I knew it. Gots the crazy eyes. Then I actually watched her in an interview, she was going for the concerned and deeply anguished chord and came off really creepy. Like I imagine Jim Jones looked as he sold his “Lets move to Guiana and start our own world” schtick to his followers.
