Dayton’s police chief talked to the media recently about the firearm used by the shooter who murdered nine people and wound 14 more. The weapon used was an Aderson Manufacturing AR pistol with a Shockwave blade brace that he bought legally, undergoing the required federal background check.

The chief finds civilian ownership of that kind of firearms by civilians a probem…and doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the term “unregulated.”

[Owning AR-15s and “high capacity” magazines is] problematic. It is fundamentally problematic. To have that level of weaponry in a civilian environment, unregulated, is problematic. …

…I’m not the expert in it, but I can tell yoy that it was modified, in essence, to function like a rifle. That much I can tell you, and I’m sure you can talk to experts out there, how that gets done. And to avoid any legal prohibitions.

    • Uses the word “problematic” not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES? And they say conservatives run on ‘dog-whistles’

BTW, in today’s parlance, a leftist saying “problematic” is basically a call for random people who didn’t know or give a shit about ‘X’ yesterday to begin loudly protesting ‘X’

      • “Problematic regulation common sense reform regulation problematic…”

Look up the NPC meme. It’s frighteningly accurate.

        • Las Vegas police chief had similar anti-gun views in the papers before the Harvest shooting.

    • “To have that level of weaponry in a civilian environment, unregulated, is problematic”

      ****
What level of weaponry?? A semi-automatic, one-round-per-trigger-pull that fires a cartridge so small it isn’t even approved for hunting in most areas? Or was it simply the high-cap drum that scared you? If the pistol in the photo had only a 10-rd mag (welcome to CA), would you have been peeing your pants then?

    • We should always remember that Chief’s of Police always work at the pleasure of their (usually progressive/fascist) mayor elected council members. In situations like this you can bet that the good Chief is being very careful to speak words his mayor would approve of. But, when he says “I’m not an expert” then you have to ask yourself why he hell he isn’t an expert? Maybe he’s one of those cops who rarely if ever visit the gun range and who don’t much like guns anyway. Scheech. What a bozo this guy is.

  1. “it was modified, in essence, to function like a rifle.”

    A rifle… was modified… to act like a rifle?

Stick to writing speeding tickets as you’re unqualified on all else.

    • It’s a pistol, with a pistol brace, buddy. Thanks for doing the propagandist’s work for them, though.

One might ask why someone wouldn’t simply spend 30seconds & attach a far-superior stock to make an illegal SBR if they were about to end their life & countless others anyway, unless they had a reason for configuring the weapon they specific way they did.

      • A corollary question: Why did either shooter, clearly expecting to die, wear hearing protection that restricted their abilities during the attack?

        • If it’s nice electronic ear pro it could have given him a hearing advantage. Electronic hearing for fighting is becoming more common actually. Not saying he had it. Just a thought.

        • That is possible. I started shooting long before hearing protection was common and I have uncorrectable high frequency hearing loss. My wife has to tell me when brake pads need service, for example. My knee jerk is to double up hearing protection (ear muffs and plugs) and, although I’ve looked at the new equipment, just don’t think about using it as it probably would not do me any good.

        • The firearm is part of the costume.

Sandy Hook murderer started the fashion. He had foam ear plugs and used a Bushmaster.
After 3 or 4 “incidents” they went to shotguns and G-Locks.
These guys are all “monkey see, monkey do”.
This guy had a “poverty pony” Anderson lower and PSA pistol upper with a plastic OMG! hand guard.
Aurora joker had a drum mag, it jammed and he switched to a pump shotgun with double 00 buckshot which probably killed more.

Next murderer will have ninja suit, drum mag and AR pistol and plate carrier. All part of the costume.

        • Scottmc-
They did not fear armed resistance so the vermin were only focused on hurting as many innocents as possible.
Fortunately, the only thing these cowards were tactically proficient at was the ear protection. A gun shot going off in an enclosed space could cause the eardrums to rupture, which would lead to vertigo, which leads to combat ineffectiveness.

        • @Missori Mule- True. The media portrays mass shooters as obsessed with guns. The reality is they are obsessed with mass shooters.

        • Ever shot a gun indoors without earpro? Especially the very first time, if you have never done it before? Earpro allows you to keep your wits & not be stunned by your own gunfire. Many, many stories of robber thugs dropping their weapons after the first shot jars them of their senses. Lanza also used earplugs in the Newtown shooting, IIRC.

Ear protection is part & parcel of shooting today, and that’s a good thing no matter how you look at it. Decrying its use by mass-shooters or any other criminal, is akin to decrying the drinking of water that they also doubtless do, same as the rest of us.

These jackasses can’t bitch that earpro is available, and also bitch that silencers make guns too quiet. That handguns are too concealable, and that rifles are too big & powerful. That ‘bullet spraying’ semi-autos aren’t fit for deer hunting, and that ‘sniper rifles’ are too accurate at range. That armor piercing bullets kill cops, and hollow points ‘implode’ upon impact to kill everyone in the vicinity. That bullets made with heavy lead are polluting, and that bullets made of light/hard copper alloys defeat body armor more easily.

They need to shut the fuck up and learn to deal with the fact that guns are legal in this country, and start tilting at a different windmill for a change. Frankly, we gun owners need to start getting into the mindset of MAKING these bastards deal with that fact, whether they want to or not.

      • There’s really nothing bad about the function of a Shockwave brace on a 5.56 pistol… it’s more stable than an adjustable brace or stock.

      • “One might ask why someone wouldn’t simply spend 30seconds & attach a far-superior stock to make an illegal SBR if they were about to end their life & countless others anyway.”

        He was Effing clueless.

      • We can play the same stupid games as the opposition, and buy into the idiocy of the NFA that says TWENTY-SIX INCHES!’ is the magical difference between a friendly, non-threatening full-sized rifle or shotgun and an Evil, Murdering Sawed-Off Monstrosity all day long, but this thing is an effing SBR. It’s built on the frame of a rifle. It has a forearm. It has an effing STOCK, no matter that somebody wants to play semantics and call it a ‘brace.’ YOU know, and I know, and anybody with a lick of sense knows, that you can call a pigeon a duck, but if it has a big yellow bill and webbed feet, it is a DUCK.
No, I don’t CARE that BATF calls this a ‘pistol with a brace.’ Nobody else is going to be convinced.
Now, we ALL know that this thing being an SBR with a rather short ‘stock’ doesn’t make it any shootier, or any more murderier, or anything else; It DOES, however, LOOK shootier and murderier, which means that Muggles who are convinced that short rifles and shotguns are just WAITING to massacre babies, puppies, and minorities in churches are much more likely to take one look and say, “THAT’s what we wanna ban! NObody needs one of those!” It also becomes easier to convince them that anybody who wants to own such a thing is a dangerous loon, who probably shouldn’t have a semi-auto rifle, either.
Trying to be ‘cute’ and get around the NFA with cleverness is going to bite us in the a$$ some day. I give you. . . ‘BUMPSTOCKS’ as an example.

        • I hope you aren’t trying to “blame the victim” here. Pistols and braces aren’t “biting” anyone in the ass. It is government doing the “biting”, or fucking, if you prefer.

People who own pistols and braces are following the law. It’s not their fault that the law is as written. That’s how laws are supposed to work… X and Y are prohibited. Z is not written in the law so it is legal.

  2. The single legitimate point this white shirt CLEO cling-on made was that he Is Not An Expert…on anything. Quite possibly including his actual job.

    • Right, do your job and stick to enforcement. We elect representatives to change laws.

It should be highly offensive to everyone to have the guy tasked with enforcing our laws advocating for more laws that take away our liberties.

        • I thought she applied it with a putty knife and it literally melted on-set under the hot studio lights when she cried on-cue.

She probably looked real good in her 20s, then rapidly lost it…

    • Jim Bakker may be a lot of things but he is not “Reverend”. The word “reverend” is only used once in the Bible. See Psalms 111:09
Of course, I am aware that folk are merely trying to be respectful; however, there are plenty other words that would be more correct. i.e. preacher, evangelist etc

        • Gov. I read your comments daily and I appreciate them. And, I was not trying to be critical of your obviously sarcastic post. For what ever reason, I felt the desire to comment about the word “reverend”. I have been surprised through the years as to how many don’t realize the word is not strewn throughout the Bible.

      • The word “reverend”, to my knowledge, appears only in the King James Version (and derivatives) to boot. In other words, it’s an exclusively English term used to replace a phrase usually translated as “holy and awesome”. Ironically irreverent to apply that term to man then, isn’t it? Spot on.

  3. ummm am I the only one noticing Daytin? Also can we please get a different speech writer for these goons I’m tired of hearing problematic and modified the weapon to be more deadly… Only way to ever make a gun more deadly with bolt ons is to either increase caliber, use an explosive round, or attach a bayonet so please stop with the labeling stocks, rails, optics, and triggers as making the gun more deadly they do not increase lethality but rather they increase accuracy which is something all reporters and speech writers should strive for but apparently can no longer be bothered with.

    • Maybe if the rifles used had the rails full of attachments, drum mags, a bipod, etc, just the weight of the firearm alone would slow him down. Let’s make mall ninjas cool.

      • He had one of those double drum mags that doesn’t work too well.

Perhaps he didn’t know how to swap mags…😊

    • Seriously! It’s hard to take this stuff seriously when there’s even an error in the TITLE. Not to mention numerous errors in the actual article.

    • …and I was chortled yesterday for pointing out that one of yesterday’s articles had tons of question marks scattered throughout the text instead of apostrophes…

Is it too much for TTAG to actually proof the articles they post?

  4. J e w s were behind taking prayer out of schools.

Let’s make America a Christian nation again. Stop taking away our guns and rights! We don’t allow Sharia law in the US, so why do we allow this Talmudic hegemony?

    We don’t need mental health (another wealth transfer to the s y n o g o g u e O f s a t a n)

    • First, America has never been a Christian nation. Check out the treaty of Tripoli.

Second, they ain’t no such thing as Satan, it’s just an excuse people use to explain their lack of understanding of the natural world.

Humans own their behavior, they can’t blame it on any external force, that’s just a cop out.

        • Here’s what Thomas Jefferson said, this letter is in the library of Congress. Not only does Jefferson speak of the separation of church and state, he speaks of the natural rights that we all enjoy. So you see, Thomas Jefferson shares our viewpoint on natural rights, isn’t that reassuring.

“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between church and State. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.”

      • “Humans own their behavior, they can’t blame it on any external force, that’s just a cop out.”

Be sure to beat that point home to your Leftists political masters, ‘miner’. They are the ones that ascribe magical properties to physical objects, like guns…

        • Liberals aren’t some monolithic block, in hypnotic lock-step with some hidden agenda. You watch too much Fox News.

Most liberals are OK with private firearms ownership, don’t believe in open borders and are all about personal responsibility.

And I can tell you, just about zero liberals I know are talking about going out and killing ‘Republi-Commies’ or whatever, unlike the many on this list who speak openly of killing their political opponents.

      • Well if thats the case perhaps as i am a much fitter specimen i will eat you and take your wife. It just natural processes. No big deal

        • Darwins theory has nothing to do with survival of the fittest, he never used that phrase.

The evidence he uncovered shows that the most important survival trait is adaptability, followed by the necessity for hybrid vigor by having a diverse gene pool.

And revealing a desire to eat humans is really crazy, what is it with you Christians and cannibalism?

  5. I spent the last 20 years thinking Islam was the enemy! Now I realize the j. E. W s. Are the real problem.

Abortion, gun control, homosexuality, trans for kids, speech bans – wow, it’s all the same people. And if you notice who is doing this, you get banned on even gun blogs! Wow! Can’t gun blogs be a safe space for right wing Christian white men?

    • After the Holocaust, many of the survivors went Atheist. It wasn’t religious Jews that stopped prayer in school, it was Atheists, many of them raised Christian. Do not blame the faith, blame the lack of faith.

      • The reason we don’t have state sponsored prayer in schools is because the constitution forbids the state being involved in religion.

Anyone who wants can pray in school, many schools have student-led prayer clubs, there are no laws against prayer in school. However, state sanctioned prayer led by an authority figure or official of the school is forbidden under the first amendment.

As Thomas Jefferson said “I thank Providence that we have erected a wall of separation between church and state.”

        • “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;…”
Read the constitution, then spout off. Doesn’t say just “no religion”. The state also can not prohibit religion.
          Tired of illiterate people.

        • “Anyone who wants can pray in school.”

Yeah, just peek in during mid-terms or finals. 😉

        • Miner49er you are fake history
At the founding of America, States and counties required membership in certain churches to conduct public activities as well as private ones. You can read about this in the conservative history book certainly not a liberal one.

        • Yes, you are right Chris, while this land was still a colony of great Britain there were many religious discrimination laws.

And like old Tom Jefferson, I thank Providence that the founding fathers did the right thing by excluding any religion from the Constitution or the government of the United States of America.

Here’s your free history lesson on religion in the constitution, or the lack there of. BTW, if this is a Christian nation why is the name Jesus not in the constitution? Why isn’t the name Jehovah in the constitution, or for that matter Allah, Zeus, or Buddha? Oh man, I just remembered, the name Mohammed is on the supreme court, was it a plot by the founding fathers to promote Islam?

“The No Religious Test Clause of the United States Constitution is a clause within Article VI, Clause 3. By its plain terms, no federal officeholder or employee can be required to adhere to or accept any particular religion or doctrine as a prerequisite to holding a federal office or a federal government job. It immediately follows a clause requiring all federal and state officers to take an oath or affirmation to support the Constitution. This clause contains the only explicit reference to religion in the original seven articles of the U.S. Constitution.

The ban on religious tests contained in this clause protects only federal officeholders and employees. It does not apply to the states, many of which imposed religious tests at the time of the nation’s founding. State tests limited public offices to Christians or, in some states, only to Protestants. The national government, on the other hand, could not impose any religious test whatsoever. National offices would be open to everyone. No federal official has ever been subjected to a formal religious test for holding office.[1]

This clause is cited by advocates of separation of church and state as an example of the “original intent” of the Framers of the Constitution to avoid any entanglement between church and state, or involving the government in any way as a determiner of religious beliefs or practices. This is significant because this clause represents the words of the original Framers, even prior to the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment.”

        • Dave, the government cannot prohibit the free exercise of religion, right up until it infringes upon another persons liberties.

My tax dollars should not be spent to promote public prayer to a captive audience in a public school, that’s the very definition of freedom of religion, it also means freedom from religion.

My children or anyone’s children being forced to pray to a God they don’t believe in is prohibited by the United States Constitution, just as the founding fathers intended.

And the constitution makes clear, that there can be no preferred state religion in the United States, that’s part of what we were fleeing, the Church of England (Another made-up religion designed to consolidate power over the peons).

“Main article: Article Six of the United States Constitution § Text
… ; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”

Honestly did all you people sleep through civics class?

        • That statement by Jefferson was to the people at the Danbury Baptist Church.what he was saying was the government can’t be involved with the church or interfere with it .it is not in the constitution.if you spout history then know about it

        • Reno, I never said Jefferson’s statement about separation of church and state was in the constitution. But both the first amendment and the prohibition against religious tests is in the constitution, and that’s why state-sponsored prayer in schools is forbidden.

But of course, anyone who wants can pray in school, you just can’t force others to pray to your particular sky daddy.

        • I agree but the state broke that law when the Godless majority in the scotus stopped prayer in 1961 and then Bible study.i pity them on judgement day when Jesus Christ throws them into the lake of 🔥 forever

  6. – NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre spoke with Trump on Tuesday after the president expressed support for a background check bill and told him it would not be popular among Trump’s supporters. –

    So there’s that.

  7. “The chief finds civilian ownership of that kind of firearms by civilians a problem…and doesn’t seem to understand the meaning of the term “unregulated.”

I find the chiefs Anti Constitutionalism troubling, one might think that he swore a oath to the federal and states Constitutions but then again, next petty Effing tyrant.

PS Dan Daytin or is it Dayton.

  8. Never give up any Arm or Firearm. It was a police officer who murdered several people in California using a suppressed AR15, a few years ago.

It was sheriff deputies that stood by and did nothing to stop school children from being shot to death in Florida.

Tyrants always use fear to get the population to give up their Liberty for security. The result is the population will have neither Liberty or security.

  9. Highly recommend two podcast related to the weekend events. Michael Bane #634 and Dan Bongino #1037. DB talks about society and its affect on young men. MB describes what is going on with these shooters specifically.

  10. Not a fan of the close up on the AR clearly showing the manufacturer…like they’re the guilty party or responsible for it.

  11. An expanded knowledge of firearms and their operation should be required training for police officers. If only to prevent them from looking like ignoramuses when speaking to the public.

    • An expanded knowledge of firearms and their operation should be taught in school, along with the Bill Of Rights.

    • Police chiefs are selected not elected. Sheriffs are elected, not selected.
Both are hired for their politics, but not for the same reasons.

    • I’m really hoping that it’s a left wing troll. We, the Constitutionalists, need bigots like a proverbial hole in the head.
Any system of Man is worthy of critique but his incivility is, imho, indefensible.

      • We have pretty rabid jew haters on “both sides”. Nobody wants to claim them, yet here they are, flapping away about some ridiculous conspiracy involving jews.

  12. “Daytin Police Chief Criticizes ‘Unregulated’ Ownership of ‘Assault Weapons’”

One would think that persons in a position of “authority” would be educated on the subject on which they’re addressing, or at the very least, have someone who is educated on the subject at their side…

    I guess I expect too much…

  13. First, does anyone proof read the script, “Daytin” and misspelling Anderson? The Police Chief is typical of paper pushers commenting on issues they actually know nothing about. I’ll bet the rank and file officers are laughing behind his back. Just another douche who took an oath that means nothing to him.

  14. You’re not an expert? Shouldn’t you be a fucking expert on, you know, laws n stuff?

That aside, it always raises my hackles when some uniform talks about how “problematic” it is for civilians to own firearms. Unless he’s talking about the police, who are the civilians I see having the most trouble with their firearms.

  15. The police chief is a political appointee and is just saying what he thinks his political masters want him to say. He was probably at a press conference and was waylaid with a question by a media member, and didn’t have time to think up a diplomatic answer, so his true feelings (and depth of knowledge) on the subject were revealed. I’d like to hear what the local sheriff, who is elected by the people, thinks about all this.

  16. You are correct, Chief, you are not the expert. If you knew anything about the AR, you would know that the BATFE classifies the lower receiver as the firearm regardless of it’s configuration, and, it was not “modifed” but built that way…LEGALLY. Yes, it is an Anderson lower, so what? What you are is a douche that is clamoring to keep your job so you jump on the gun control band wagon and spout off before you get educated. You are a pathetic POS that wants politics before anything else.

  17. If idiots like this guy and school administers actually did their jobs, and ensured that in school felonies resulted in arrests and convictions, these angry young men would have a few years to cool off in prison.

Almost all of these twisted young men had been giving off signals for years. Dealing with these individual bad actors before they explode into violence is the only workable solution, since none of the gun control proposals would have made any difference at all. No UBC, no red flag, no ban, nothing but arrests and prosecution for the threats of violence, the felonies they had already committed.

  18. O K, I’ll agree this police chief in the article is a mouthpiece for the mayor, most of the chiefs of police are… but NOT ALL, I have a relative of a small town in a large state, at this very moment who respects the constitution & your rights , he has no problem with you packing heat if your NOT a felon & it’s NOT concealed under your clothing, even the glove box in the vehicle is ok, (open carry state 👏) this guy has more weapons in his squad car than most people have in their safe, nobody in this county messes with him or his men. This actually is the second state & city he’s been the chief in, The people he serves respect him very much, the criminals are scared of him,,, so actually there are SOME good police chiefs out there, just not in typically liberal city’s or states…

    • Yeah I agree there are some fine examples of law enforcement officers out there we just do not hear enough about.

I often think about a relation of mine, now an elderly gentleman. We all grew up aware of the respect this man was held in by cops in multiple agencies, by prosecutors, pretty much by everybody. He was constantly well armed but always low key, casual in appearance. We also knew there were at times serious threats against him.

  19. “To have that level of weaponry in a civilian environment, unregulated, is problematic.”
    ….and scary.
To our potentates and overlords because it reminds them that we still stand a chance against them.

  20. Seems like these leftist shootings In leftist city’s with leftist police……. Like Florida, maybe someone should look in to this police cheifs past.
Corruption seems to be the theme,
The louder they screech Scarry gunzz the more corrupt they are,
DEFLECT AND PROJECT is their M.O.

  21. And one day he will condemn civilian ownership of gas cans. Or, as the mayor has done, suggest outlawing knives and then the subject of sharp sticks raises its ugly head.

  22. An appointed government functionary, from a dying fifth rate city. Doesn’t know jack about firearms. Expects the Nation to hang on every word.

  23. If you know anything about Ohio, the three big cities whose names start with a “C” are run by democrats who have been fighting with the state for years over gun control. All three have enacted local ordinances that violate the state pre-emption law, and then they get sued. I think Cleveland was sued two or three times and got slapped down hard by the State Supreme Court. This is simply another reflection of their unwavering support for gun control.Fortunately, the rest of the state if pretty solidly red.

  24. There are rumors that the Dayton shooter was researching things on the internet to plan his terrorism. They say he was watching white identitarian content as opposition research and he was watching Antifa content for inspiration on how to combat those identitarians. He was on gun websites like this one to see what gun owners were saying so he could buy the “correct” gear for his attack. That he chose the arm brace for the same reasons the Mandalay Bay shooter chose the bump fire stock. He wanted gun control now, he figured Trump would give it to him if he used the arm brace because Trump banned the bump fire stock.

Unfortunately, because of the intention of the shooter the FBI is likely to hide the motive like they did the Mandalay Bay shooting. Don’t expect them to be honest, open and straightforward.

    • Oh, please, please, please, post some citations about what you say ‘some people are saying’.

I can hardly contain my excitement, waiting to see the solid info to back up your claims.

      Thanks in advance!

      • I gathered some of this from the police, the FBI, his social media, his ex-girlfriend, etc.

I find it very repugnant when the older crowd says this is all because of videos games, weed and mental illness.

Not every mass shooting is because of mental illness. If that was the case, Muslim terrorists have never done anything wrong intentionally because they are very crazy, crazy enough to blow themselves up. Who does that but crazy people? Right? Don’t blame politics/religion for (crazy) Muslims running people over, knifing them, shooting people and blowing themselves up. Let all the crazy Muslims in jail go to a mental institution instead. All they need is a mental health professional and some pills.

There’re generally three types of reasons for mass shootings: gangs, personal and political/religion. Mass shootings in gangland are between rivals with innocent people stuck in the middle of the gunfire. School shootings are personal in nature, largely stemming from bad parenting, encouraged by a twisted society, and triggered by mean classmates or similar negative treatment. Political/religious shootings are done because of ideology and they have a political goal in mind, which would make these shootings terrorism.

You could argue gang and school shootings can be driven by mental illness and environmental factors. Most will disagree that kids whom choose the gang life are mentally ill or suffering from some mental disorder, not even PTS. Majority of honest people will not argue school shootings have nothing to do with mental illness.

I don’t see any real argument to excuse terrorism as a mental illness. This is normal human cognitive function motivated by natural human instincts. Most people can’t stop/control their innate human behavior to group together and conceptualize an ideology to dominate humans.

        • I really don’t know where to begin.

For now, let me just ask, what your source and link is for this statement:

“That he chose the arm brace for the same reasons the Mandalay Bay shooter chose the bump fire stock. He wanted gun control now, he figured Trump would give it to him if he used the arm brace because Trump banned the bump fire stock.”

  25. I’m not an expert but…

[Having Police Chiefs who don’t care about civil liberties is] problematic. It is fundamentally problematic. To have that level of stupidity in a civilian environment, unelected, is problematic. …

    FIFY.

  26. Another Chief LEO who would end the second amendment if he had the authority. They are power hungry tyrants as are the gun grabbers in congress. But Im afraid there will be more deranged killers using a magazine fed repeating rifle or handgun and public opinion will force lawmakers to follow in Stalins footsteps. Only if the law abiding gun owners resist the tyranny will America be saved.

  27. Ah, here is the excuse they have to go after pistols with a brace now- let’s see if they go the way of bump stocks just as fast.

” was modified, in essence, to function like a rifle…”
    1) Does he know rifles are legal?
    2) The fact that it functions like a rifle but is a pistol says a lot about how stupid the NFA is

  28. He said “I’m not an expert but I can tell you it was modified to act like a rifle” I’m no expert but this guy is an idiot modified to act like a police chife. I guess becoming a police chief is more of a political move not a move up the ranks learning and gaining experience. I bet this guy scammed his way through arms qualification. A total politician and as far as “to serve and protect” the only thing this guy protects is his ability to get reelected.

  29. Another P*&^Y law enforcement D*&K who thinks banning these weapons will somehow change the national scene. What you see is not weapons like these but a poor and lame upbringing that goes back with the perps parents who themselves are baby boomer BRATS who allowed this kid to go unbridled, unsupervised and no moral values. This has been growing for over 30 years in the USA.This is what AMERICA produces with the system it has…GARBAGE IN=GARBAGE OUT

  30. @ miner 49er
The US was founded on Judaeo-Christian beliefs.
Yes the Articles do prohibit certain things like religious preferences applied to office holders.
However, The Amendments supersede the articles, as they were added at a later date to clarify or add to, some of the Articles.
To understand the thinking behind the Constitution and the Articles and amendments one has to read the Federalist papers.
Too many use the Articles as an end all, be all. Not so.

    • Sorry Dave, the articles ARE the constitution, unless specifically amended.

I believe the United States law is a much more moral law than what we have in the Bible. For instance, rape is a felony in every state in the union yet there is no law against rape in the 10 Commandments.

Slavery is against the law in the United States, yet there is no commandment against slavery. In fact, the Bible puts forth a complex scheme on how to be a slave owner and where to acquire your slaves and at what price.

We all know slavery is immoral, owning another human being as property at the point of a gun is immoral. Therefore, the Bible is immoral.

If the US followed biblical law, Donald Trump would’ve been stoned to death three times for adultery. Is that what you want? Because that’s probably OK with me.

I found your viewpoint on constitutional law fascinating.

Do you think there should be a religious test for public office in the United States?

      • I love it when a Godless person tries to explain Biblical truth.Gods word teaches in the Bible it’s impossible to understand to those who are perishing

  31. I would expect to hear this from a police chief. After all, we’re hearing from an appointed or hired head of a department that’s going to mime whatever the City Leadership has to say, unlike a Sheriff who must stand for re-election. This is why most Police Chiefs favor infringing legislation and most Sheriff’s oppose it as a rule of thumb. Quite frankly, the wack job would have killed and wounded just as many had he been armed with a handgun (which is still the most common weapon used in mass murders). Magazine capacity? Not the problem. Parkland proved that as that shooter was limited by a 10 round maximum capacity and still killed 17 and wounded 17 more which adds up to a minimum of 34 rounds expended. 10 round capacity and 34 rounds tells us there was a minimum of 4 magazine changes. All unbiased studies show magazine capacity is a negligible factor at best.

  32. Reply to Chuck “10 round capacity and 34 rounds tells us there was a minimum of 4 magazine changes.” Bad math. Shooter starts with one magazine in, shoots 10 rounds, Change 1, shoots 10 rounds making total of 20, Change 2 shoots 10 rounds making total of 30, Change 3 shoots 4 rounds to reach total of 34 in only 3 magazine changes. Also whack job in Dayton was armed with a handgun – AM 15.

    • You have just proved that the 10 round limit on magazine capacity is a crock, as it does not meaningfully reduce the time a shooter needs to let loose a whole lot of lead.

  33. Law enforcement is plagued with ADMINISTRATOR types. These people have NEVER worked the streets, NEVER arrested anyone, and NEVER back the street cops in their respective departments. They work in management, and are at the beck and call of their liberal masters. They despise gun owners and are suspicious of anyone with working knowledge of firearms. I grew up in the northeast and these people discouraged firearm ownership to the point where it was a crusade on their part to deny handgun permits, not carry permits, but a permit to just buy a handgun. They created a labyrinthine, Byzantine permit system that strips the common man, especially if you’re poor, young and a minority of their basic human dignity and right to self-defense. These people are odious and repulsive.

  34. We know part of whats coming now. The DOJ lawyers will once again say the BATFE Technical Branch doesn’t know how to properly interpet gun laws that have been in use over 50 years, they will exceed their administrative authority and rewrite specific text from Congress and classify arm support braces on pistols as unregistered SBR while simultaneously closing NFA registration like they did with auto sears. Ban, Remove, destroy, turn in of face the standard 10 years/$250K Fine.

  35. I’m an ordained minister, I remembered an applicable Scripture, as I was walking with my wife through our local Wal-Mart a few hours ago. As usual, I was legally carrying a concealed handgun. Just before Jesus was seized and crucified, He gave some direction to His disciples about preparing (including being armed) for the dangerous times ahead. You’ll find the story in Luke 22, verses 36-38. Just thought you might be interested in what He had to say about self-defense.

  36. Before I retired from Uncle Sam, when we’d get security briefs on incidents like these recent attacks, we’d generally have orders to be in heightened readiness, in case the incidents were the first of others to come. I would recommend the same caution here.
    God bless,
    DC

  37. I can’t zoom in, but it appears the EOTECH is installed backward???? I have also seen this done on a cable TV show, obviously by someone who knows nothing about firearms

  38. I have been saying on all the gun forums that DJT’s bumpstock ban was a horrible precedent.

Mark my words that pistol braces and binary triggers are next to be banned
