John Trumbull's "Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776" courtesy ushistory.org

Apparently the United States Declaration of Independence isn’t good enough for Moms Demand Action. They’ve come up with their own version to “declare our independence from the gun lobby and its complicity in our nation’s epidemic of gun violence.” They don’t say anything about their complicity in attempting to violate every American’s Constitutional rights. They’re urging everyone to make paper flags, join community parades and otherwise participate in the activities on the 4th of July that celebrate the very freedoms they’re trying to take away (oh, and please send them some money while you’re at it). They don’t seem to remember that guns are why we have the freedom to celebrate that holiday. Go figure. And a few days after that . . .

“Local faith communities [will] host a Toy Gun Exchange Day in response to the ever pervasive culture of violence in the St. Louis Region and across the United States.” Hot on the heels of the toy gun trade-in recently held in California, the Washington Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in the Gateway City wants to “change the way kids engage in dramatic play by replacing violent toys and video games with non-violent ones.” They’re looking for volunteers to help out with this indoctrination if any of you in the St. Louis area have any spare time on Saturday, July 13.

Retired Miami-Dade (Florida) school teacher David Kotkin won’t earn any points with those few moms who are demanding all that action or the Reverend at the WTMBC in the STL. He’s developed the Delta Six, a gaming gun modeled after a GSG assault rifle. It takes video game realism to a new level: the gun moves the game view with the direction of its muzzle, zooms in when a gamer peeks in the scope and recoils with the fire of each bullet. To bludgeon an enemy, a gamer sideswipes the rifle’s butt. Of course the antis are having a royal cow over it. Per the Miami Herald: “‘This is so over the top, so extreme, you’ll probably see legislation at the state or federal level to outlaw this kind of thing for sale to civilians,’ said Jack Thompson, a disbarred Coral Gables attorney who is among the country’s foremost critics of violent video games.”

South Fork Industries, based in Dalton Gardens, Idaho, has come out with a line of pork-laced bullets. They claim the Jihawg Ammo is a “defensive deterrent to those who violently act in the name of Islam.”  The bullets are coated in pork-laced paint which make it “haram” for Muslims. They claim this “will keep a Muslim who’s shot with one of the bullets from entering paradise.” Not so, says religious professor Shannon Dunn. “There is no penalty for coming into contact with pork given by the Quran… Muslims, especially unknowingly, would not be banned from heaven for eating or getting hit by pork.” Sounds like a waste of perfectly good pork to me.

In Ontario, California, an intruder broke into a home through a bedroom window and “began to threaten and attack” the homeowner’s sleeping son. The homeowner “armed himself with a firearm [and] fired several rounds” which hit the intruder. The intruder became unalive after being transported to the hospital. In any other state that would be the end of it, but this is California we’re talking about. The police say “The case will be investigated as a homicide.” The intruder’s family says the shooting was unjustified: “Just because you have a gun and it’s registered, doesn’t give you the right to kill somebody.”

In Phoenix, Arizona, two licensed gun dealers have been sentenced to prison for (among other things) illegal possession of a machine gun, obliterating the serial numbers of firearms, and the manufacturing, possession, receipt and transfer of machine guns in violation of the National Firearms Act.” They’d take the serial numbers from cheap registered machine guns and weld them onto more expensive models of illegally-manufactured machine guns to sell. Looks like they sold some to the wrong person.

Yesterday we mentioned the work of Sabine Pearlman, who made a series of cross-section photos of various cartridges. Reader Jeremy S. emailed us: “Saw a link in the daily digest and made me think of this page. It’s pretty freaking cool! Instead of using the links at the top, I suggest just scrolling down and going through everything. I spent way too much time on here.” Me too, Jeremy. Me too.

  1. The intruder being shot, and the defender being prosecuted pisses me off. He damn-well better not face any charges. Even if the suspect was “confused” the victim still has the right to self-defense.

Someone is breaking into my house, I don’t care if he’s confused, I’m shooting him.

Good riddance to bad garbage I say.

    • Depends on the situation. I’d prefer to give someone a chance to GTFO if they were not armed and coming at me. But if they were attacking one of my children? Yeah, I don’t think so.

  2. Ah, the old Mac-Ma-duce dance only with welding s/n’s on the gun not just messing with the paperwork over the course of 3-4 transfers.

  3. Pork laced ammo is probably 10 years to late to sell well in this country. Please stick to making normal ammo not gimmicks. Thanks ammunition manufactures.

    • Pork-laced ammo is probably the most ignorant, racist thing I can recall in my entire life. And it hasn’t been short. It just seems shorter every day I get closer to the bone orchard.

      • “Pork-laced ammo is probably the most ignorant, racist thing I can recall in my entire life. And it hasn’t been short.”

Then you haven’t spent any time in a Muslim country.

I agree that the pork ammo is offensive and I don’t plan on buying any. However, it’s high time all Americans take an objective and critical look at Islam–its texts, its traditions, its history, and its effects on mankind. Those that do will conclude that Islam is an evil cult and an institution which should be offended and mocked at every opportunity.

Feel free to criticize me . . . only if you’ve actually read the Koran, . . . and a history book.

    • That area in the woods where I shoot is about 10 minutes away from the company that makes this stuff. I think I’ll probably choose to keep a wide berth.

    • “How would pork affect the inside of the gun?”

For one thing, it would reek to high heaven pretty quickly. As any restaurant kitchen employee can tell you, if he left the slicer unwashed for four hours.

  4. “Just because you have a gun and it’s registered, doesn’t give you the right to kill somebody.”

Just because you have the ability to break into windows doesnt mean you have the right to not get shot.

    • ““Just because you have a gun and it’s registered, doesn’t give you the right to kill somebody.”

This statement literally took the breath out of me, because of its implication that the criminal/assailant enjoys rights he thinks you are not entitled to.

Totally incredible a “decent” human could think such thoughts. He truly believes you have to call the police and wait while the s.o.b. bludgeons or stabs the life out of you. If they don’t arrive in time (which is NEVER), that’s just the price you have to pay for a “polite” society. A cowed and sheep-like society. Tough thing about Riley; he died with the phone in his hand!” Oh, well, are you gonna watch THE VOICE tonight?

If I was in this guy’s presence, I’d spit in his face.

      • But William, if you think about it, he’s right. Just because you own a gun and it’s registered, doesn’t give you the right to kill somebody. The fact that he’s trying to kill you gives you the right. The gun (and its registration) are completely irrelevant. A pipe wrench wouldn’t “give me the right” either, but it’d be pretty effective.

    • Excellent point, paisan. Some people are absolutely clueless when it comes to self-defense. They haven’t got the brains Nature gave the Bactrian camel.

  5. I took debate in high school both junior and senior year. When I was doing so, Jack Thompsons name popped up a lot when we’d do citation research. His citations were universally regarded as junk, and the last refuge of a losing argument. I graduated in 1994. That’s how long this guy has been spouting is meaningless drivel.

    • The guy is a moron, I celebrated when I heard he was disbarred. I can’t believe anybody bothers printing his tired crap anymore. He is like MAIG but for the first amendment.

    • Heh, Jack Thompson got into a fight a few years ago with the webcomic Penny Arcade. Tried to sic the local police and the feds on the comic guys after they lambasted him in multiple comics. Got freaking hilarious, and it might have contributed to his disbarment after the cops universally went “Uuuhhhh, no.” Do not hold me to that, though, it might have just been in the same rough time frame. He was quite a busy guy, after all.

      • If I remember his getting disbarred had something to do with him ignoring a court order to leave rock star games alone.

  6. I didn’t realize Insane Mothers Against Defending Their Children (IMAD-TC™) were dependent on the arms industry.

    They so crazy!

  7. WHOA! I missed this the first scan through:

“you’ll probably see legislation at the state or federal level to outlaw this kind of thing for sale to civilians,”

So… will cops get a discount for the game at the station house, for trigger-itchy desk sergeants? BLUDGEON AWAY!!

  8. On an unrelated note, I held a Heizer Doubletap in my hands today at my local gun store; it was like petting a unicorn. Also got to play around with the new Walther PPX, which has a very interesting double action trigger.

  9. If you truly wish to declare your independence from the gun lobby you should emigrate to the UK. Then you can demand action to stop the home invasions, rape and robberies that will become part of your daily life.

  10. The developments of the cal home invasion story is why I have to bite my tongue whenever people as me how I feel about commiefornia. That place isn’t fit to shit on. It is exactly what Californians want it to be.

        • I suspect this is going to become the 9mm Vs .45ACP argument for the next century; Move Vs Stay and Fight.

The simple reality is that in order to reverse the tyrannical and at least by spirit unconstitutional 2A restrictions in places like California and New York one would have to vote out much of their state governments. Replacing the state government would require having a majority of voters which could only conceivable happen if one were to either import voters from free states or drive out those who voted in the anti 2A pols in the first place.

The former is absurd, since I can think of no PoTG who would wish to relocate to such a place as California nor any practical reason for them to do so (see Californians fleeing due to non-2A issues).
The latter is nearly as absurd since the voters one would need to drive from the state are the ones who elected representatives are in charge giving them no impetus to leave; they have their utopia. Further, asking those in free states to assist in dispersing those who voted in the pols of the California state house and arch-enemies of the PoTG such as Diane Feinstein among their own voting population is tantamount to asking us to risk losing essential liberties, which is immoral and unreasonable, never minding we have no legal means by which to effectively assist such an undertaking.
If anything, the laws of states like California and New York attract hoplophobes, Trotskyites and far leftists while producing to some degree an exodus of those who would have liberty, suggesting that the situation in those states will continue to deteriorate.
To say that if such tyranny flourishes in California indicates it will spread to free states is to say that because the North Koreans are strong in North Korea the ROK is at risk. This only holds true if the DPRK invades, and there are powerful injunctions to prevent this. Likewise loss of liberty in California is only a threat to other states if there is an exodus of voters from California to those states, and there are equally powerful reasons why that isn’t likely.

In Response to the Request for Reinforcements from the Partisans in California:
I recognize and appreciate your passion for your home state, however discretion being the better part of valor, and situational awareness being paramount in any engagement there is only one logical course of action; retreat. You have been cut off behind enemy lines with an inferior force and lacking an effective logistical train and the support of the populace. Both in insurgency and in politics this indicates the battle is lost.
If you remain committed to our effort, withdrawal behind friendly lines and regroup so that your numbers can be redeployed where they might do some good. We’re unable to effect a break through to rescue you, there for you must attempt a break out to reach us. Simply put, None of us will move to California to vote to reshape its government, so move to a free state, register to vote there and start helping to hold the line.

      • That would unfortunately require us to enter into Mordor.
I understand about having a deep love of your home and an adamant refusal to let it go, but from the outside, it couldnt seem more like a lost cause if you wanted it to. It has just become too much of a wretched hive of scum and villany.

But there will always be Patriots behind enemy lines.

    • This +100 internets. I damn near died laughing reading this and I will sure as hell use it elsewhere in conversation…

  11. The Ontario case seems to me to be missing a few facts to explain the apparent overreaction of the police. Under California law, anyone who uses fore to enter a domicile is presumed to have the intent to cause great bodily harm or death, and the homeowner has a right to shoot him/her. This presumption change the burden of prof at trial; while the defendant has the burden of proving self-defense, the prosecutor has the burden of overcoming the presumption of favoring the defendant. Which is shy this case is strange–the intruder broke in and was fighting with one of the occupants. It is presumed lawful shoot at this point, cases the prosecutor is loathe to take to trial

    • @Mark:

I’ll make book that the intruder’s ancestry was from south of Algeria – that’s why his family is saying mugabedung like that. They think they have a right to do anything whatsoever, without any consequences.

  12. I had an ideato use a x-box kinect sensor with an ammo insert so you could use your own arms to “train” in your living room.

I thought ist a much cheaper alternative to live ammo.

I thought the game could easily have multiple modes:
    Range time
    Home defense
    Public defense and
    Hunting modes

  13. Too bad the shooter has the California Penal Code on his side:

198.5. Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or
great bodily injury within his or her residence shall be presumed to
have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great
bodily injury to self, family, or a member of the household when that
force is used against another person, not a member of the family or
household, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and
forcibly entered the residence and the person using the force knew or
had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred.
As used in this section, great bodily injury means a significant
    or substantial physical injury.

    199. The homicide appearing to be justifiable or excusable, the
person indicted must, upon his trial, be fully acquitted and
    discharged.

  14. I love how anti-gun people keep claiming that there is an “epidemic” of violence and rising crime when the facts show that we have the safest country in a century.

    • This ^^^^^^^

      Sorry all you antigunners reading this blog;

Take this as fact and shut your traps! That means YOU Bloomyberg and Cronies.

  15. “They don’t say anything about their complicity in attempting to violate every American’s Constitutional rights.”

Just to pick a nit here, these (the first 10 amendments) are NOT “Constitutional Rights”. They are natural rights and are merely enumerated and enshrined in the Consitution as a means of showing their particular importance to the freedoms and liberties of this United States of America AND pointing out that the government cannot and should not interfere with them. Just sayin’

  16. The phrase “being investigated as a homicide” is on of the most often misused. There’s no doubt the guy’s death was a homicide. It wasn’t suicide, it wasn’t an accident, and he didn’t die of natural causes. That leaves homicide. What they really mean is the death is being investigated to determine if the killing was justifiable or not.

  17. Did ya’ll happen to see the video clip on the news today, about the mother getting beat in front of her daughter? The thug broke in and started beating the woman, then went upstairs, rummaging through the house looking for valuables, then came back downstairs and threw the mother down the basement stairs. This happened in New Jersey, wonder what would have happened if the mother had had a weapon knew how to use it and killed the thug?Be prepared and ready.Keep your powder dry.

    • wonder what would have happened if the mother had had a weapon knew how to use it and killed the thug?

Women shoots home intruder — woman is glorified. Man shoots home intruder — maybe not. That’s the true answer to your question.

    • Yeah but, coming to a world near you…

That is their goal. Extend their reach into every state until there isn’t any more reliance on self, just the government.

      • We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.”

Part of a Winston Churchill Quote.

        • Only thing is, that speech is not Churchill’s; but was done by a Churchill voice imitator – with Churchill’s approval.

This came out a few years ago -I thought you knew.

  18. In Caliraq, you can kill anyone. Even if they are mortally wounding you and stabbing you in the face with a knife. You can only waut till its over and hope you don’t die then sue them after it is all over.

  19. TO: All
    RE: Show Them….

….that video from the New Jersey home invasion.

    Regards,

    Chuck(le)
[The Truth will out and these dimbos are not going to like it…..]

  20. Just a little historical note, the sepoys mutinied the because the paper cartridges that they ripped open with their teeth were contained pig or cow fat. The act of tearing the top off the cartridge to pour the powder was too close to eating for them. There wasn’t any resentment over the bullets being too close to pig or cow fat.

    • It’s that the Sepoy’s THOUGHT the cartridges were greased with pig and/or cow fat. They were actually waxed. The rumor was spread by nefarious types who wanted to take advantage of the result.

      • I believe you are completely correct. It is my understanding that the Brits used animal grease everywhere else, but in deference to local customs and religion, used non-animal products in India. But it made a great piece of propaganda. Of course, the people were already pretty much conditioned to believe their overloads were perfectly capable of heinous behavior, which of course they were.

  21. In California, about the only thing we have going for us is the strength of the so-called “Castle Law” here. It is routine for the DA’s to investigate any DGU in the Owner’s residence that results in the death of a suspect, but mainly to insure there’s no question that the law was applied correctly…aka the deceased was inside the Residence (not half in a window or standing just outside a broken down door). That being said, there’s still a chance a Liberal-minded DA would attempt to prosecute, so you cannot afford to be naïve or cavalier about it if you’re on the Resident defending end of the incident. By far most of the DGU’s in residences or businesses ending in suspect demise are not prosecuted, however, there’s nothing to prevent the suspect’s family from filing a Civil Lawsuit against the resident alleging “wrongful death”. Those tend to get lost in the Courts and can be quite costly to both parties, if actually taken to trial.

  22. “Intruder” is such an ugly phrase. Let’s call him an “Extraneous Occupant”. A “Formerly Respirating Extraneous Occupant”

  23. The absolute idiocy of the break in at Cali is mind blowing. I cant even give a proper comment. However it reminds me of something my father once said to me “If someone ever broke into the house, don’t fight him, let him take what he wants and hope he doesn’t hurt you, because shooting him would land you in prison with more time then if he killed someone.” I always though that was total bullshit, but apparently its reality in California.

  24. “Apparently the United States Declaration of Independence isn’t good enough for Moms Demand Action. They’ve come up with their own version to “declare our independence from the gun lobby and its complicity in our nation’s epidemic of gun violence.’ ”

“If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” Samuel Adams, August 1, 1776

    • @ Idaho Pete:

Love that quote by Sam Adams. It applies to Bloomberg. Only trouble is, Bloomberg is a demagogue who thinks that everyone should bend to his will. That makes him dangerous.

“We can contend with the evil that men do in the name of evil; but heaven protect us from what they do in the name of good”.

-Richard Boone, as “Paladin”, quoting from Erodius’ Third essay, in a “Have Gun, Will Travel” episode (‘The Posse”).

      • I recall seeing the same sentiment expressed as a prayer:

“Lord I will defend myself from my enemies; but spare me, oh Lord, from the hands of my benefactors”.
