Anyone who thinks that the government—any government—can remove guns from society is just plain ignorant. Are there guns in “gun free” UK? Of course there are. Closer to home, I know a guy used to make zip guns for his pals in a city where the chances of getting a pistol permit were less than the chances of sharing a glass of brännvin with Sofia Helqvist. Bottom line: anyone who wants a gun can get one. Gun control laws simply remove guns from law-abiding or otherwise law-abiding citizens. As we’ll see—have seen—in New York and California (and Connecticut, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island), civilian disarmament does nothing to reduce crime. And much to encourage the passivity that enables a police state. But you knew that. If not, the Digest has evidence. Again. Still . . .

If the Quinnipiac poll is accurate, Obama has not won the public debate. The majority of gun owners may agree with the President on what needs to be done, but they don’t know it, choose not to trust him, or believe that he will take their guns away.

They tell us, sir, that we are weak—unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of Hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

    • Since not even cops can be trusted to handle guns safely, that must mean that the rest of us must be worse.. .So goes the assumption, contrary evidence notwithstanding. All this accident proves is that there are idiot gun owners that walk among us. Just as there are idiot drivers. Can’t outlaw stupid, and you shouldn’t rely on stupid to outlaw everyone else.

  1. You are so incredibly naive 🙂

The goal is to agitate the right wing to the point of instability and potentially outright civil war, which leftists groups who want to see the end of Amerikkka see as a natural stepping stone towards eliminating Capitalism entirely 🙂

    • You’ve already admitted to being a capitilist yourself, GLG. Why you hate yourself so much is beyond me. You’ve claimed to be a successfull small business owner. Either you’re lying about being a commie or lying about the business or what’s more likely is you’re 14-16 yo who enjoys yanking chains.

Today, you are not so far off in your thinking. From this link:
“FBI: Man Attempted To Bomb Bank, Trying To Set Off US Civil War

      By Pete Williams, NBC News
      February 8, 2013

The FBI, ending a sting, says it has arrested a California man after he tried to set off what he thought was a car bomb at a bank in Oakland.

Matthew Aaron Llaneza, 28, of San Jose, was arrested Friday morning, capping a months-long undercover investigation, the Justice Department said. Agents say he met last November with someone he thought was connected with the Taliban but who was actually an FBI agent.

Prosecutors say Llaneza proposed car-bombing a bank in the San Francisco Bay Area.

“Llaneza’s stated goal was to trigger a governmental crackdown, which he expected would trigger a right-wing counter-response against the government followed by, he hoped, civil war,” the Justice Department says.

Court documents say Llaneza expressed a desire to commit violent jihad and talked about wanting to flee the U.S. after the bombing, but a federal official says his precise motive was unclear.

Court documents say he chose a Bank of America branch in Oakland as the target for the attack and offered to drive the car bomb to the bank. In January and February, they say, he and the undercover agent built the supposed bomb.

Investigators say Llaneza bought two cell phones to be used in detonating the device. Thursday night, they say, he drove an SUV containing the device and parked it under an overhang on the bank building, then walked a safe distance away and tried to set it off, when he was then arrested.

The device had earlier been rendered inoperable by the FBI.

He had his initial appearance in court this morning and will be back for a bail hearing next Wednesday in Oakland.”

      • Actually, that is standard insurgency stuff: Put a bomb, cause some casualties, then watch the government or army of occupation overreact and thus turn the population over to the insurgents. Classic.

    • That settles it. I’m ordering an MRI machine, if I can’t find a cheaper “guard the door” Japanese robot.

    • Anything ferrous can become a lethal projectile in the same room as an MRI machine. I have heard of oxygen containers becoming missiles when the machine was turned on.

  2. Looks like JGs gunstore has a few Uberti SAAs left. The way things are going, we’ll all be buying them soon enough, as they’ll be the only guns still legal. Too bad you can’t have them shipped to your door like black powder cap and ball pistols.

  3. Yup, that looks like the Memphis Bass Pro also. They used to keep the black powder guns on the floor but have since moved them behind the counter. An employees exact words to me were, “… to make it look like we have more in stock…”

Regarding Sofia, wow. Just wow. Shes my favorite so far!

  4. just tell me why a snowstorm is bigger news than cops in California swatting everybody. ???

If this happens as a result of one guy(!), what happens when there is a team?

  5. “Civilian disarmament does nothing to reduce crime. And much to encourage the passivity that enables a police state.”

Which is, of course, the point entirely. No matter what the useful idiots believe, this is the end goal of the progressive fascist agenda, and is entirely what “gun control” is all about.

  6. I made a zip gun when I was 15 years old that fired .22 long rifle high velocity out of a bicycle parts, a bed spring (acted as both the hammer and hammer spring), and various other things lying around the garage. Granted, the bullet tumbled out of the barrel, but it tore up a phone book pretty good and I could hit a gallon jug from 12 feet.

    • Hypothetically, one might have used left-over steel piping, wood, rubber bands, a clothes pin for the trigger (the kind with the spring), a nail for a striker and the old man’s power tools. All zips were made to order depending on the caliber of the ammo that was scrounged up. Hypothetically.

  7. I just finished reading Dave Kopel’s article on the American Revolution and gun control. Outstanding work and the foot notes are invaluable. Well worth the Armed Intelligentsia’s time.

    • Not me. Variety is key. And it feeds (in name, though not blondness) RF’s Heidi Complex, which he resists without success.

  8. Need I comment on Bob Cesca’s op-ed in HuffPo? What? I do? Okay:
“In the last 30 years how many mass shootings have been thwarted by “a good guy with a gun” in the United States? According to Mother Jones, zero.”
According to everyone else, quite a few. In recent memory, Clackamas, San Antonio, Atlanta…
    Oh wait:
“UPDATE: Several commenters have posted lists of gun incidents in which the gunman has been allegedly thwarted by a citizen with a gun. (Wow — a lot of gun violence in America. Maybe we should do something about that.) It’s important to note that these commenters plagiarized their posts from a column by Ann Coulter and an and Daily Anarchist writer named Davi Barker, claiming the information as their own without any attribution. I would advise you consider any factual information reported by these columnists as suspicious, not to mention the commenters who plagiarized them.”
Ah! So if it’s cited by Ann Coulter, it’s untrue. Sorry.

    • I notice the sh1thead indicates that most mass shootings haven’t been thwarted by armed citizens but makes no mention that most mass shootings occur in gun free zones. Despicable.
