Here Is a List of All the Assholes Handsome Law-Abiding Citizens Who Own Guns Some People in New York City. Yup that’s the headline over at gawker.com where scribe John Cook offers a 446-page list of every licensed gun owner in New York City. Cook also links to a database containing 300k New York pistol owners (out of 1.2m) which have been “freely available online for more than two years.” Reading between the lines, Cook isn’t proffering the information to lobby for The Big Apple’s Powers That Be to liberalize their concealed carry policies: “Here’s the full, searchable, NYPD list. (And for the record, they are not all assholes. Some of them need guns for legitimate reasons for their jobs, like providing security for assholes.)” As we said before, it’s up to the courts to protect this information. And it’s up to the media to act responsibly. As if. More of your daily dose of anti-pistol perfidy and a spoon full of ballistic sugar after the jump . . .

Vice President Joe Biden’s Civilian Disarmament Committee will nod deceitfully meet with the NRA et al. this week. And then the President will decide “what he would like to pursue.” As he’s already declared his intention to push a new AWB and mag cap ban there’s not a whole lot of suspense involved. washingtonpost.com

“Regardless of his personal beliefs about gun-control, [Marine Joshua] Boston should obey the law, or stop using the title of Marine veteran so proudly.” As his Windham Weaponry SRC is (for the moment) legal, I think usmcdiorio means “shut up.” cnn.com

I believe in the Second Amendment but— “State Rep. Dan Muhlbauer, D-Manilla, says Iowa lawmakers should ban semi-automatic guns and ‘start taking them’ from owners who refuse to surrender any illegal firearms through a buy-back program.” carrollspaper.com

Amazon buying into Seattle buyback.

“‘I just want my daughters to be safe in school,’ said Aaron Bogad, 44, whose three daughters attend PS 5.” Call to arms on Staten Island: panel votes to give school guards guns nypost.com

Arizona’s armed posse patrols (that just doesn’t sound right) are already on the job patrolling outside Arizona schools.

Boy Scouts shooting blanks.

Damn! I forgot to get rifle plates! “First of its kind, truly compact point-of-wounding trauma kit designed to fit securely behind your rifle plate or concealable armor panels.” thetacticalwire.com

Steyr Arms bumps up the price of Steyr AUG magazines and Steyr Pistol Magazines by $10 “due to shortages in worldwide supply.” Even then you probably won’t get them anytime soon. “It is unsure at this time, when or if we will be seeing any large quantity shipments from the factory in the near future.” Stimt?

Now that Walther Arms has split from Smith & Wesson, I’m expecting big things. OK, small but perfectly formed things. New website.

“A high profile event is good time find out where a shortcoming of a policy or a failure of a policy might reside,” Massachusetts Democrat Paul Houroux asserts at huffingtonpost.com, “but a high profile event is not necessarily what policy should target. Doing so would result in the majority of cases being marginalized and a strategy designed around an unlikely event.” True, but not the kind of language that wins hearts or (educationally challenged) minds.

Cheaper That Dirt! Or not. Selling guns now, again, but not ARs.

After seven years of development, Serbu Firearms Announces World’s Best .50 BMG Semi-Auto Rifle The company claims better accuracy, reliability and price than ArmaLite, Barrett, et al. “Law enforcement, government agencies and militaries can rest assured this rifle will surpass all expectations and mission requirements.” Hey! What about us? ammoland.com

Indeed. What about us?

  1. Well that’s annoying. They finally make a PPK/S in .22 lr and it only holds 10 rounds? Come on, they could easily make that gun hold 15-20 rounds of .22 lr.

Looks like they also scratched the SP22 pistol and G22 rifle.

      • I’m going to go with both reasons. California has a 10 round mag limit and California is a big gun market. But even without California I don’t recall ever seeing a .22 auto pistol that had more than a 10 round mag.

Add the rimmed cartridges to the fairly small PPK/S frame and putting in a double stack mag is probably a bigger hassle than it’s worth.

        • My Colt/Umarex 1911-22 has a standard 12-round magazine. But then, it’s a full-size 1911A1 clone, so there’s a bit of extra room for 2 more rounds.

        • S&W M&P 22 -> 10 or 12 round mag for .22lr… MADE BY WALTHER. (pretty much the size of the M&P 9)

The Kel-Tec PMR uses .22 wmr.

  2. Bless Marine Joshua Boston may he and all gun owners never bow to the scum of Di FI. May Marines who own ARs keep the secret from the Nazi government of Obama and the ugly hag scumbag Di Fi.

    • On the contrary, the more Marines (and other honorably discharged servicemembers) that come forward to voice their support for AR ownership, the better.

What better way to counter the “civilian firearms must pass the looks-like-a-hunting-gun test” argument?

  3. I find it frightening and confusing that I agree with Fascist Joe Arpaio on his approach to securing vulnerable public venues such as schools and malls.

On the other hand, it’s pretty simple: if a psycho thinks he’s likely to face armed opposition at a given potential target in the suburban US, he’s either going to back off on his plan or pick a different target.

Why is this such a confusing concept?

    • I find it frightening and confusing that I agree with Fascist Joe Arpaio on his approach to securing vulnerable public venues such as schools and malls.

You’re an Obama supporter. I am not surprised.

  4. Hopefully dicks like John Cook will open some peoples eyes that registration can only end badly. (Therefore Marine Joshua Boston has the right idea)

  5. too bad these fools cant move this fast on all the illegal aliens here so lets go after LAW ABIDING PEOPLE instead of illegal aliens leave my guns alone gun control does not work and if you try ”confiscation ” that wont work either

  6. As I read the comments on TTAG and from news articles linked from thegunwire.com I begin to notice a few things:

    1) Most people have woken up to the real consequences for any ban no matter how small it is.

    2) Most people have very strong feelings about where any ban will take this country.

    3) Most people don’t plan to lay down and take it even if it is rammed down our throat through illegal measures.

So I wonder – are these Most People a good portion of the voting Republic? Or is it just the same 50 guys and me reading all the same articles… 🙂

    • Agreed- people are starting to understand the real consequences we risk with any sort of ban and it seems that many have strong feelings about the issue.

Americans must ensure that Capitol Hill hears the voice of those who wish to protect the Second Amendment. This can’t just happen once- people must be persistent with messages to their elected officials for every piece of gun control legislation introduced.

I realize that takes a small amount of each person’s time but isn’t it worthwhile to invest that time now instead of complaining about a new ban?
That time investment could pay off in sorter checkout lines (and lower prices) for ammo in the future….

        • Well at least you would have an answer to their cry’s of “why?!!” that will certainly be loud and painful as they are tar’d, feathered and road out of town on a rail.

  7. I’m on that list linked on Gawker’s website. Aside from bristling at being called an “asshole”, I’m pretty upset that NYC doesn’t respect my privacy. You’d think spending hundreds of dollars and going through the arduous process to legally own a firearm in this shithole would at least buy me that.

One note about Gawker; every time you click on that link to their website more money goes into their pocket. They purposely write this kind of stuff to get people worked up and drive traffic to their site. It might be best not to link to them at all.

  8. Call to arms on Staten Island: panel votes to give school guards guns

Impossible. That’s just a crazy NRA idea. It could never happen in NYC, right? Right?

  9. The law is an idea, not a shield. Murder is already illegal, why does anyone think a murderer on this scale is going to be stopped by another law?

  10. Yeah, what a suspense with the pres, no guns..guns, no guns…guns. How can a person ass..er..tane which way it will go./// I guess when an ugly head pops up we got to wack it right down, Randy

  11. “Regardless of his personal beliefs about gun-control, [Marine Joshua] Boston should obey the law, or stop using the title of Marine veteran so proudly.”

He took an oath to uphold the Constitution. He’s absolutely obeying the law by defying anti-2A orders. Any politician in support of gun control is the criminal. This idiot’s attitude is the sort of meek, brainwashed, nanny-state worship leftists have been pushing.

Also, Gawker sounds quite mentally unstable to so sweepingly generalize people based on the ownership of an inanimate object. I think he should be subjected to a mental evaluation to determine if he should be allowed to exercise his 1A rights. Common sense speech control is necessary, after all, for the children.

  12. If any kind of mass firearms confiscation were to actually work, it would rely on people like John Cook.

Just think — the government doesn’t have to directly do anything at all to gun owners. It just has to convince enough useful idiots that they’re doing society’s good work by turning other people in. Play up the altruism of helping eradicate a plague on society and offer an incentive — a tax rebate, a $100 bounty on each gun a tip brings in, free downtown parking — awarded anonymously, of course — and watch them fight for the opportunity to rat out the malcontents.

The scariest thing in Orwell’s 1984 isn’t Big Brother, it’s the fact that your friends, family, and neighbors would turn you in for thought crimes in a heartbeat. Even if you could drop off the technology grid, you can’t escape the human net.

Not that I think it’s going to happen anytime soon (hopefully it never will). Just saying…

  13. Smart Marines pay in untraceable cash, Cache, stayoff the skyline, and always vote.

** And are entitled to step on thier dicks once in awhile. (Good conduct medals never impress the ladies anyway.)

  14. Gawker and others of its ilk that publish lists of permit holders etc, are nothing but sensationalists. This is pure, grade A, USDA certified yellow journalism at it’s finest. You just know these knights of the keyboard are slapping themselves on the back and thinking they are making a difference. What a bunch of delusional fools. Stuff like this accomplishes nothing at all, except for maybe selling papers, or driving traffic to websites. Any iota of journalistic integrity (and I use that term VERY loosely) these people had has now been wiped out. If your gonna sell out you should try for a higher price.

  15. The time is fast approaching when New Yorkers will be better served by buying their guns from the same guys the bad guys buy theirs. Put THAT on your stinkin’ list!

  16. Ing, what you are referring to is called “lateral enforcement” it is a staple of tyranny.

I’m presently surprised by the eloquence of so many posts that are pro 2A on news sites like NYT and CNN. There a few mutton head posts from our side but mostly we are looking better than the shrill squallings of the antis. It looks like a lot of people would rather use the keyboard today than the post hole digger tomorrow night. Keep it up people! We should also pound the hell out of the racist roots of gun control. If we equate “anti gun” with “bigot” we will bury them as a viable voice. They are trying to marginalize us with emotional arguments. We CAN marginalize them with facts.

    Go Team!

  17. As a Jewess in the US, I can only say that ANY anti-gun plan from an ignoramus
like Slow Joe Biden or his dirty Kenyan boss is bound to be a loser idea.
Certainly it will make all REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST! Both
criminals and overbearing governments respect FIREPOWER, not sweet talk. And
remember that America wasn’t won with a registered gun! -Wendy Weinbaum

  18. 170,000,000 innocent men, women and children in the 20th century lost their lives because of gun control. Model used by dictators,, Mein Kampf, author Adolph Hitler, read it. Leaders who committed genocide and other atrocities of over 100,000,000 innocent people: Stalin,Mau, Leopold 2, hedeki,Ismail,Emear,Pol Pot,Kim 2 Sung,Menghestu,Yakubu,Gowon. And if u take a look at our leaders, most of the far left/socialist have a good foot hold on our society. 🙁
