Double-plus un-good badthink in America’s armpit: NJ Highschooler Suspended for Anti-Gun Control Project – “A Manville, NJ student was suspended and ordered to go under a psychological evaluation after it was found out he was doing an assignment arguing against gun control. Student Frank Harvey was doing a project for class that was on gun control, arguing against it, when he left his flash drive with the project on it in the school library. The flash drive was then found and handed over to the school administrators.” Some thoughts are simply too dangerous to entertain in a government school.

An empty holster, and stomach, as Va. Tech gun rights advocate goes on hunger strike – “When Ryan James Martin walks around the Virginia Tech campus, he wears an empty handgun holster at his side as a silent reminder to his fellow students that he is not allowed to bear arms there. Martin, a 22 year-old senior, is an advocate for the Constitution’s second amendment and a vocal critic of the university’s prohibition on carrying firearms around school buildings, dorms and classrooms in Blacksburg, Va. Martin believes the school’s policy is an infringement of his rights and prevents him from being prepared to keep himself and other students safe from harm should an active shooter storm the campus.”

Let’s talk about guns – “Let’s start a conversation. No, not the same kind of conversation we’ve heard for years and years about guns in America. Let’s start a different kind of conversation. One that revolves more around facts and less around emotion.” (click image above to view video)

An unhappy Libertarian: NRA No Longer Deserves the Confidence of Gun-Owners – “The National Rifle Association (NRA) has failed in its duties to support American gun-owners and the more general cause of liberty. This first became noticeable early in the 2016 presidential election. In April 2015, the group held its annual convention in Nashville, inviting presidential candidates to speak. However, Rand Paul was not invited, almost exclusively because of his support of the National Association for Gun Rights. This was in spite of Paul having an “A” rating from the NRA. Now months later, the reality seems clearer. On May 20, the group endorsed Donald Trump for president.”

D.C. to lift stun-gun ban after constitutional challenge by gun rights advocates – “The District government will not seek to enforce the city’s stun-gun ban against three residents who challenged the law, and court records show city lawmakers are preparing legislation to lift the long-standing prohibition. In a two-page order filed late Monday, the District agreed not to enforce a blanket city prohibition against importing, purchasing, possessing or using Taser-style weapons ‘for lawful self-defense in their residences.’ The suspension affects only three plaintiffs — a conservative blogger, a nurse and an armed-robbery victim — and will halt litigation for 90 days.” One tiny step forward.

Castor couple admits to role in converting rifle to machine gun – “A Castor (Louisiana) couple has pleaded guilty to charges related to converting a rifle into a machine gun, U.S. Attorney Stephanie A. Finley said Tuesday in a news release. Michael Deen Reeves, 58, and wife Crissy Lawson Reeves, 37, of Castor, entered the pleas before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote. Michael Reeves pleaded guilty to one count of manufacturing an unregistered firearm, and Crissy Reeves pleaded guilty to one count of transferring an unregistered firearm.”

      • You don’t even need to go through with the surgery. Heck, you don’t even have to dress the part, just insist on using the wrong bathroom. Instant hero status.

        • Very true. Then you can hear the phrase, “oh, you’re so brave.” More times than a paraplegic soldier who lost all his limbs saving a bus full of babies from a horde of wild Daesh wielding flame throwing chainsaws.

    • Never carried an empty holster, but I carried a full one every day, policies be damned. I was just extra careful not to print

    • Vhyrus:
Perhaps YOUR school administrators were able to read our Constitution, AND THINK about what it means. (I’m not going to say ‘consider yourself lucky,’ Eventually the DOE will “coerce,” usually through funding, THEIR agenda, and any ‘luck’ will be gone, so I’ll just say enjoy that very limited freedom while it lasts, and be prepared to fight ($$$) to get it back, after it is gone).
By the way, This is your 15 minutes, and THANK YOU for doing all you can!

    • Good ol’ Va.Tech! I was a student 1964-69, and as I have mentioned here before, when I was a freshman I complimented a senior on the M1 Carbine that was hanging on his dormitory room wall, in clear view from the hallway (without A/C, doors were open a lot), and he responded that it was an M2 Carbine. For those who don’t get that, the difference is that an M2 looks the same, but is select-fire. This guy can’t carry a pistol, 50 years ago students had machine guns stored in plain sight, inside campus buildings (this was Major Williams dorm, on the upper quad). As a country, we are moving in the wrong direction.

  1. The child’s parents need to get involved with an attorney and should file suit against the school district, if for no other reason to seek punitive damages and let the school district know that this kind of nonsense is unacceptable.

    • Although it depends on state law, most schools have absolute or qualified immunity. It’s a high bar to overcome.

I know because I represented a plaintiff who sued a school for something even more egregious than this. I got past summary judgment, and after that I left the firm so I don’t know what happened to the case.

  2. Home school. That’s all I got. Teaching “gun control” in high school? Talk about special education…I see Gary Johnson’s been brain farting more lately.

    • Nope. They always have been indoctrination camps.

Maybe you were more immune to the influence, but it was there.

Check out the research and writing by John Taylor Gatto on the history of compulsory public “education” in this country. You won’t be saying any “thank goodness” about having attended.

      • You are SO RIGHT. (40 years later and I’m STILL catching myself occasionally “liberal-thunking”). I’m more worried about what I don’t catch myself doing.

  3. I have a technical question – Regarding the modern PCP (Pre-Charged Pneumatic) air rifles, which are quite powerful and deadly, would it be legal to modify or create one of these in full-auto? Seems like with a fully charged tank at @3,000 psi you could get about 10-15 rounds downrange at 1,000 fps.

Just curious as to whether or not this would be a [an unconstitutionally] prohibited weapon.

    • Cliff, the answer can be found in the Freon(!) powered BB machine guns my friends and I all had bought out of the back of PopSci (or whatever) in the ’70s – it’s no problem.

Thankfully, as far as the BATFE is concerned, an airgun isn’t a firearm. They can be as giggle-switch as you want to make them.

      • I rather thought so, but some places are now even outlawing BB guns, so you never can tell.

On the other hand, I pretty sure possession of Freon is now a federal offense.

        • I’m EPA licensed for freon (and some other goodies) like the millions of others who spent (IIRC) $25 on an open book quiz on the computer, that a semi-drunk primate could pass. I know that because I needed to get a 20# of R-22, and made that determination after killing a 750 of decent Scotch with a friend. So I opened a fresh bottle, and took the test.

My license arrived in a few days.

Edit: It’s all different in NJ than in the USA of course….

      • Hey, I bought a select-fire M1A from Airsoft in 2007, not even expensive, around $150, 400+ fps, and *electric* powered, not even compressed air. Charge up the battery, it’ll fire hundreds of rounds before needing recharge, and the removable magazine holds several hundred pellets.

  4. Didn’t take long to get to this in the comment section:

“Like racism or anti-semitism or any other illness of that ilk, he can learn not to hold these views. Some views deserve not respect but transformation. ”

This is what they really want.

    • So, just like the headline here put it: Thoughtcrime.

They don’t seem to realize Orwell’s book was supposed to be a warning not a game plan.

    • After 48 years since I graduated, I trust that VaTech has learned how to do without any alumni contributions from me, I send my money to the NRA instead. I usually don’t bother to tell them to kiss my ass, any more.

  5. The guy from VT looks like he needs a diet but I’m not sure this is the one for him.

Either way, with no food he has supplies on his person to last for a bit.

  6. Confirmed. Below is the actual project video that has Manville NJ, soviet skools in a twist. The family has also been approached by ‘ child welfare services ‘ whom they wisely refused to speak with , recognizing it as continued harassment. — American Center For Law And Justice and Jay Sekulow has fought many schools / colleges over Free speech issues. —- Manville schools stands ZERO chance here.
The NRA , GOA , NSSF and others should buy this and make it an ad. Give the student a nice college fund.

  7. It doesn’t matter if he made that political video for a school project.
If he had a non-criminal political video of his own design on his own memory stick, that is no grounds for suspending him. nor for demanding a psych eval before allowing him to contact the student population again.

If that’s really what happened, if I were a parent in that district I’d be organizing a student strike, refusing to allow our children to come in contact with the superintendent until she passes a psych eval. Or simply removing her from the payroll would work for me too.

The superintendent’s defense seems to be ‘it’s all lies, we didn’t do it’. I hope the boy and his mother get an attorney, and the superintendent gets the chance to tell her side of the story in court.

  8. Hmm. I wouldn’t put this nonsense past the NJ system but at the same time I wonder if there wasn’t something on that thumb drive that we might not know about.

  9. I sure hope that NJ teen insists on talking about fishing during the “ordered” psych tests. You know… Which baits all the fish like during the seasons and where to find them.
I hope somebody gets taught what happens when they ask BS questions.

  10. “and ordered to go under a psychological evaluation”

Well of course, after all, he made it through 12 years of indoctrination and somehow the program didn’t stick, this is a very grave problem indeed! There could be other defectives just like him and they need to know how to identify them.

  11. Endorsing the NFA, the GCA, the LEOPA, the UFA, Duty to Inform and God knows what else was fine, but Trump? That’s going too far!

  12. And this is how mental health treatment will be used against us. If you want to own a gun, there must be something wrong with your mind. You need to be evaluated. Of course you will be evaluated unstable. Why? Because you want to own a gun!

This line of thinking will prevent many who need treatment from ever seeking it regardless of whether they are likely to become violent. And if they are violent, well it will be just one more example justifying the need to outlaw gun ownership.

    • Exactly. The political left has a long, proud, global history of declaring their critics to be mentally ill, and thus removing them from society and stripping them of their rights even further. All in the name of “public safety”.

    • HAHA! Sounds like the Joseph Heller book catch-22.
      “You mean there’s a catch?”

“Sure there’s a catch,” Doc Daneeka replied. “Catch-22. Anyone who wants to get out of combat duty isn’t really crazy.”

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22, which specified that a concern for one’s own safety in the face of dangers that were real and immediate was the process of a rational mind. Orr was crazy and could be grounded. All he had to do was ask; and as soon as he did, he would no longer be crazy and would have to fly more missions. Orr would be crazy to fly more missions and sane if he didn’t, but if he was sane, he had to fly them. If he flew them, he was crazy and didn’t have to; but if he didn’t want to, he was sane and had to. Yossarian was moved very deeply by the absolute simplicity of this clause of Catch-22 and let out a respectful whistle.

  13. Hey Dan Zimmerman you little weasel! Are you implying that New Jersey is the armpit of America? You obviously don’t have a clue do you. Even though New Jersey does have one of the strictest gun control legislation in our great nation, it doesn’t mean that our great state isn’t filled with pro gun sportsman and enthusiasts who definitely support our 2nd amendment. Secondly our great state is one of the most environmentally diverse amongst all the states in our great nation. From our beautiful beaches along the coast, to our endless farmland and amazing forests. Obviously you haven’t a f—king clue do you? Do your research before you make such an uneducated statement. I’m personally appalled by the action taken against this young man for working on an assignment arguing against gun control. But this is the fight that all of our 2nd amendment supporting citizens constantly endure.

  14. Everybody tells me I don’t need a full auto AR, so I don’t have any plans that tell me how to convert one to FA, nor know where they might be had. All such items – if they existed – were tragically lost in a boating accident.

Honestly, I’d rather have a suppressor. And some good night vision.
