PrintGavin Eugene Long aka Cosmo Setepenra: Top 10 Facts You Need to Know – “He used the name Cosmo Setepenra online and as his pen name for his self-published books. He discussed the Dallas attack on police officers and recent police shootings of black men in social media posts. ‘Violence is not THE answer (its a answer), but at what point do you stand up so that your people dont become the Native Americans…EXTINCT?,’ he wrote on Twitter on July 13.” Wait, here’s number eleven: he was a violent, murderous racist.

For black gun owners, bearing arms is a civil rights issue – “In February 2015, Philip Smith started a Facebook group to make space for the often-overlooked concerns of law-abiding, license-carrying gun owners who happen to be African-American. Smith was tired of feeling conspicuous as the only black guy at the gun ranges he visited. Surely, he thought, there must be others out there, dealing with the same suspicions he faced when passersby glimpsed the Glock on his hip. A year and a half later, Smith counts more than 11,000 members, representing all 50 states.”

Using the system against itself in California: Leader of effort to overturn gun control laws is enlisting firearms shops for help – “Barry Bahrami said he realizes it will be difficult to collect 365,000 signatures on each of the six referendum petitions in the next two and a half months, but said opponents of the laws are serious about trying.”

Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Demonstrates How to Handle a Traffic Stop If You Have a CCW – “‘We want to make sure that we have a good working relationship with the public and that everyone goes home safe,’ said (Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim) Jacobsen.”

Cleveland Gun Rights Rally on RNC Eve Fails to Draw Crowd – “‘I feel like one light bulb with a zillion moths,’ (Steve) Thacker said in Public Square, a half mile from Quicken Loans Arena, where the convention opens Monday. The ‘rally’ organizer, Rich Medlar, said about 35 people had promised to come in a show of support for gun rights. ‘They just decided not to show up,’ he said with a shrug.”

  1. “For black guns owners, bearing arms is a civil rights issue”
Actually it’s a civil rights issue for everyone.

  2. Looks like the DNC convention is going to go full Libtard. The mother of Michael Brown will be speaking as well as the parents of other shot and killed by the police. As if there is not enough issues already.

  3. Have fun in hell cosmo-you and micah. And you do a pro-gun demo by just walking around and being cool…tastefully open carrying.

  4. “…the deputy, knowing the driver has a weapon on him he asks Belemjian to place his left hand on the steering wheel while slowly removing his information from his pocket.”

    Pathetic. And sad.

What exactly is a person carrying a gun doing that endangers the cop so much, that it begins to sound like a strip search?

    • Also, I dislike the “stand over there while I retrieve what I need from the vehicle.” No sir, I do not consent to a search of my vehicle. I don’t care if I can see exactly what you’re doing, I’m not giving you permission to enter my vehicle. No sir, I don’t have anything to hide, but I’m not giving you permission to enter my vehicle.

      • Yep, that’s bogus. How does having a concealed carry license give the cops carte blanche to do a vehicle search because your firearm is in the center console or glovebox and not on your person? Love being removed from the vehicle and being placed in cuffs also just because….Someone should do this to the cops themselves sometimes and see how they like it. And they wonder why people don’t like them. In all fairness, outside of Calimexico and a few other anti-gun States, having a firearm is mostly a nonissue when stopped. I haven’t been pulled over a lot, but my experience has been OK with the cops being mostly indifferent about it. Things might be different now with all the anticop shooters out there.

    • I guess police don’t really understand that if I was going to shoot you, I wouldn’t have told you I had a gun. They only reason to tell an officer (which should be a choice, not a law) is so that if you do get arrested for some reason, they aren’t surprised by a weapon when they do a pat down.

  5. I’m supposed to take CCW advice from CA law enforcement? I think not. That’s like a Jewish person asking one of Himmler’s SS for directions to the synagogue!

That Cleveland Gun Rights Rally was pathetic. When the VA Citizen’s Defense League did Lobby Day at the VA statehouse on a bitterly freezing day in January, we had 1,200 members open carrying show up at the capitol building and I understand that is a pretty typical turnout. They came from all over VA. WTF is going on in Ohio?

    • I don’t know but… The Gun Owner’s Lobby Day at the state capital in Springfield, IL used to draw huge crowds… until we got the concealed carry law passed. The annual event is still one of the biggest they see in Springfield, but the numbers have fallen significantly.

So… maybe Ohio gun owners aren’t all that active because they’re sitting pretty in a state that is one of the more gun-friendly states in the Midwest.

      Just a theory.

      • Hmmm…I was going to post something similar Curtis. They got maybe 3000 people at the Springfield rallies. Yeah Ohio sounds pretty good(as does Indiana)…

    • I live in Cleveland and had no clue about it. Either way I have no desire to wander about with that many different kinds of stupid (other protest groups, not this guy)

    • Another factor may be the craziness surrounding the conventions. I can certainly understand why people would want to avoid getting anywhere near either one.

  6. The very first line the traffic stop article jumped out at me:

Tens of thousands of people have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in California.

Tens of thousands, you say? Out of 39 million? (source) That’s a pretty pathetic showing.

I prefer Florida’s numbers. 20 million people (source), nearly 1.8 million permits (source).

  7. The Cleveland rally failed for an obvious reason. With all the hubbub about OC in Ohio people were rightly nervous about infiltration by some psycho.

Let’s be honest here, after all the crazy shit we’ve seen recently I wouldn’t go to this event either. All it takes is one crazy anti-cop asshole to get into the middle of an OC demonstration and start shooting and it all goes sideways. Not only might you be shot by that guy or the cops returning fire but you KNOW the media is going to play that BLM/NBPP jerkwad as being a “gun rights supporter” just because he was in that particular crowd at the time he opened fire and that such a statement is going to become the focus of the ENTIRE media.

Even if it’s proved conclusively later on that they were just an NBPP anarchist/cop killing asshole the story that WILL STICK will be that he was a 2A demonstrator. There’s no way to argue the guy’s in Dallas of Baton Rouge were “open carry demonstrators”, so let’s not give CNN the opportunity to conflate murdering cops with a 2A demonstration in a way that invites jerkoffs to join us and make us look bad. So far they’ve only said OC didn’t stop a shooter, but if he uses us for cover… oh shit it’s a full court press to ban OC.

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

    • “Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.”

And this for long gun open carry in general. In certain situations I understand how it’s legitimate protest, but in most it just seems like an ill-advised cry for attention that makes Shannon Watts wish she could be that good at making gun owners look bad. I’m not saying it should be illegal, mind you, I’m just saying it’s almost always completely stupid. Particularly when it’s unannounced at privately owned, publicly accessible spaces.

    • Did you miss the memo? There’s only one group that is not allowed to have it’s own special clubs or associations – white males. EVERY single “minority” in the country can choose to exclude others, and focus on the interests and priorities of their own group, except white guys. We have to let everybody in.

    • Do you have the same objections to women’s shooting groups, or the NRA’s programs aimed at women? NAAGA doesn’t actually exclude anyone – you can go over and ‘like’ their page now, if you want. The goal is to attract members of a group who are generally unrepresented in gun culture, and who have been uniquely victimized by gun control in the US. The net is very positive for 2A efforts overall.

    • The thing to remember is that systemic racism and white privilege shape the policies and the culture of this country. Black people coming together in a positive way to help each other in the struggle against the oppression of this system is not racist. When someone is kept down, joining one another to try and bring their minority group up to an equal level, to that of the oppressor, is not a bad thing. Some might call it racist, but that’s because they feel it threatens their place on the top. White people banding together to show their perceived superiority or racial pride is racist though, because we white people arent seen as equal by the system, we are seen as better than, privileged, and being in a position of power means that when we try to show our power, it’s bigoted. Even if they, them, you, me, or him didn’t have anything to do with the enslavement or systematic oppression of an entire ethnicity, our complacency or lack of willingness to do anything about it keeps the cogs turning in the racist, sexist, homophobic system we are a part of. Treating everyone the same, as equal, isn’t even enough, politically speaking, as it will never balance the scales of justice. We have to actively work to right the wrongs that have been done and are being done every day. So when someone says that all lives matter, or that black pride is racist, because white pride is racist, they’re wrong, and they’re part of the reason that the bigotry and hate in this country is such a major problem, and why it is so hard to reverse.

  8. In Texas law dictates a duty to inform if stopped by an LEO by giving both driver license & LTC, if you have your handgun with you or you get your butt chewed out because when LEO runs warrants check driver license it will also indicate that you have a LTC and tell them you have a handgun on you. It’s a good idea to get your wallet out while the cop is running you license plate then put both hands on steering wheel. With a number of cops being shot recently they are more anxious now than ever. If you don’t have a handgun with you not compelled to give LTC but still a good idea to tell them .

    • TTAG is using an ad network which presents content to you. Other than saying they don’t want adult content, they have little to no control over what you’re presented with; it has more to do with what you look at on a daily basis, and what demographics you fit into.

  9. The guy is a moron. He says “(its a answer)”. That should be “it’s an answer”. His lack of simple, grammatical skills is appalling. Anything he says should be ignored.

Black people won’t go extinct. There are too many scumbags in the ghetto having more illegitimate kids than they can support. If this was not the case, the inner city kids would probably be decent human beings raised by good parents. But since they are left to be raised on the streets they think it’s acceptable behavior to shoot cops, block highways, threaten white people, etc. Oh and then there’s the fact that they shoot their own more than any other group.

Again, this guy is a bleeping moron!

    • Maps Bam, you are obviously a racist as evident in your comments. If you think that the vast majority, or even a near majority of people living in “the ghetto ” are black people who are scumbags having more kids than they can support, then you are blind. This country and the relations of the different cultures, racecs, ethnicities, and religions within it is far too complex for your simple mind to comprehend. There’s more going on than what you think, and to vilify the very people who have been victimized for hundreds of years is ridiculous.

Also, the stats or facts you Pont out are useless. More black people shoot black people and more white people shoot white people. So? And thinking that a significant number of black people feel it’s ok to shoot cops, and threaten white people? Where’d you come up with that BS? You are just as much a bleeping moron as the man you were speaking of, if not more.

    • Oh, and Maps, inner city people and their children are just like you or me. Ok, well maybe not like you, as most of them are kind hearted and not racists. They want the same things everyone else wants. They want good jobs, healthcare, to work hard, go to school, to go th the shooting range, to spend time together as families, and to raise they’re children in the right way. They are Americans, they are patriots, they are veterans, and they deserve to be treated with respect.
