Carrying Guns: An Issue for the Supreme Court and the Electorate – “As a general, practical rule, it may not matter much how the Supreme Court finally rules on (carry restrictions). Most states enacted permissive concealed-carry laws on their own and would keep them regardless. But it matters in principle, and in some states—like Illinois and California—it matters in practice. To a voting public that includes nearly 13 million people with concealed-carry permits, it will certainly matter on Election Day.” If the RKBA is important to you, is there really a choice here?

Finally…someone’s showing ISIS we’re serious: “The cast of “Hamilton” declined to use muskets as props in its Tony Awards performance Sunday night following the mass shooting in Orlando. The cast instead decided to pantomime during its performance of “Yorktown (World Turned Upside Down),” which recreates the Battle of Yorktown. The smash-hit musical tells the story of the American Revolution in hip-hop.”

From its Titanium tube to its Stainless Steel core with Inconel blast baffle, the reliability of the Chaotic has always been the ideal suppressor partner for the AK platform.

It’s Shockingly Easy to Buy the AR-15 Rifle Used in the Orlando Nightclub Shooting – “It’s likely the shooter, 29-year-old Omar Mateen of Port Lucie, Fla., faced few, if any, obstacles when he legally purchased the murder weapon several days before the shooting. Anyone over the age of 18 in Florida can purchase the gun, and the state of Florida does not require would-be gun owners to hold a license to own or buy a rifle, shotgun or handgun. Prospective rifle carriers need only fill out an identification form and pay $8 for a background check.” Oh and he was a licensed security guard with Class G carry permit. So no, he would have had no problem getting one at all.

Dem Rep. Makes a Big Claim About AR-15 Rifle – and Conservative Journalist Offers $50K If He Can Prove It — “’If he was not able to buy a weapon that shoots off 700 rounds in a minute, a lot of those people would still be alive,’ he said. ‘If somebody like him had nothing worse to deal with than a Glock pistol…he might have killed three or four people and not 50. It’s way too easy to kill people in America today and we have to think long and hard about what to do about that.’” Crazy liars gonna lie crazily.

The Orlando PD SWAT officer that took a 5.56 to the melon is doing okay. Good thing he had one of those evil ‘militarized’ ballistic helmets.”

    • I don’t have the money, however I will put in another $50,000 if he can do it. If not I want the $50,000. You think the rep would take me up on that bet? 🙂
P.S. I don’t think he could pull the trigger 700 times in an hour, yet alone a minute. 🙂 Hell I’m not sure he can even count that high. These dems have no clue about anything, yet alone firearms.

      • No way you could do it, especially with the mag changes. Some of the best gamer shooters with muzzle brakes, low mass carriers, competetion triggers, and down loaded rounds, are shooting splits just below 0.1 sec. That’s only 600rd/minute and those are double taps, not repetitive mag dumps.

        • I’m thinking (NOT BETTING) Jerry M. could. Of course, we could call out Chuck Norris. But then we might as well as divide by zero and the universe would instantly end.

          Just sayin’.

      • Which would limit you to about 60 rounds per minute since that is where those 100 round mags usually jam up and you spend the rest of your minute cursing the damn thing and trying to clear the jam.

    • In somewhat related news, I just did the math and I have a car that does 6+ million miles a decade without even breaking the speed limit (on the freeway).

  1. What about the estimated 210,000 people per year killed by malpractice?
If we could only do something….?

  2. Back in the day when we wore the old steel pot I knew a guy that got his bell rung by a glancing shot by an ak. It creaased his pot and set it sideways on his head. He heard tweety birds for a while.

I doubt those pots would have stopped a straight on shot.

Kevlar might stop those straight in rounds but it must be like getting hit with a baseball bat.

    • Hmmm… I figured out once that a 90mph fastball had about 85lb/ft of energy or about the same as a .22LR pistol. So, a major league power hitter can generate bat speeds of ~110-115mph and most players use a bat that weighs ~34 ounces. 169fps (115mph) x 169fps = 28,561 x 14,875gr (34oz) = 424,844,875 / 450,400 = 943.26lb/ft of energy. So… yea. If your head only weighed 5oz that would be enough to launch it 500 feet.

    • Jbm. http://www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmtraj_simp-5.1.cgi says roughly 960 ftlbs at 50 yards….

    • still, it might be profitable to rig up some CCTV and evac the building, then turn him loose.

We could run a betting pool on how long he lasts before he NDs him self.

  3. CNN just posted a video on the “History of modern assault-style rifles.” Less than a minute in, they mention various “assault-style rifles”, including the “Ruger 10-22”, while showing a picture of a mini-14. Then they go on to mention Bill Clinton signing the “Automatic weapons ban of 1992”.

    (facepalm)

They also transition from the term assault rifle to “assault-style rifle” without any explanation of the difference between semi-auto and full-auto, cleating intending to make the viewer think that civilians buying AR-15s are getting the same thing the military uses. This video is cringe worthy:

    http://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2016/06/13/assault-rifle-history-orig-ff.cnn

    • Yeah I saw that. Then people wonder why we make such a big deal about these people not knowing anything. It would be absurd to do this with anything else. Its like politicians walking into doctors offices and telling them how to…. oh wait…

      • Look up Gell-Mann Amnesia. The media get just about everything wrong.

You see them reporting on a topic you know very well – firearms, specifcally ARs, and see all their glaring errors in a video that is supposed to include the history of the platform and lasts all of 2.5 minutes.

Then you see them report on say, the history of the microprocessor, and lets say you don’t know much about this topic, and you don’t see the errors glaring at you like you do the first report, you take it as a given that what they are saying is true.

But they aren’t, as a general rule the media get everything wrong. They are producing content, they have no incentive to be accurate, no one is fact checking them, they have very little time both to produce the content and in terms of minutes of runtime – or words if this is a printed item. The are also journalists, not experts in the topic they are reporting on.

And yes, going in to this they are often directed to report with a certain bias, as we clearly see when they report on anything firearm related. They are never objective, there is no accountability, and their viewers generally are not very smart nor are they really paying much attention.

It’s very much like Orwells 1984, truth isn’t even secondary, it’s absent. And it’s not just firearms, they get everything wrong.

    • Holy crap. When they said ruger 10/22 I completely lost my shit. My daughter shoots that and she’s 4!

      • My 90 yr old grandma used to rock a 10/22 under her bed.

Never thought of her as much of an operator, though, she cussed like a sailor and drank like a fish, come to think of it.

        • Come on man, admit it. She was operator as f&%k.

On a related note, my grandma was well known for greeting unexpected visitors with a .357 Mag in her hand….so there’s that.

On further thought, something tells me some of the older ladies we call “Granny” may well have had a might more grit and fight than 2016’s “Modern Man” and a whole heap of male feminist white knights.

        • +1 to JR in NC.

My grandmother, though she seemed like a perfect sweetheart to me, took shit from no one. Alas, she was not pro gun nor libertarian/conservative by any stretch of the imagination.

    • I like how they also show a full-auto AK-47 firing at the end of the video while mentioning the NRA not wanting a ban on semi-auto rifles.

    • Full-auto ban? You can thank Bonzo the Chimp for that. As well as the doubling the debt without raising revenue – which has been a standard for every other poseur since that brain-dead old man.

  4. Let’s all get behind having Jerry Miculek making a try at that, it would be interesting. Seven 100 round mags in a minute. Wow that would be really cool.

  5. What’s with the Illinois diss? A helluva’ lot better than Commiefornia(for now)…yeah throw down yer muskets-that is SOOOO GAY…and Omar scouted out shooting women and chillin’ in Disney. It’s TERRORISM doofus-NOT gay bashing…

    • It’s not a “diss”, it’s a statement of fact concerning the politics of Illinois in the context of the article. Illinois had to be forced, kicking and screaming, by the courts to accept that the “bear” part of “keep and bear” applies to its citizens. So the Supreme Court’s opinion on the matter is of greater practical importance in such a state vs. states like Vermont or Arizona that have chosen to recognize people’s rights willingly, without judicial intervention.

      • Quite correct.

Illinois’ present barely tolerable carry regime (it’s barely tolerable if you live there–if you’re from out of state, continue to spread ’em) would disappear instantly if they thought they could get away with it.

Maybe twenty years from now enough people in shitcago will be accustomed to being able to defend themselves to the point where they’d be able to stop an attempt to repeal concealed carry. But as of now, no fucking way. If the court decisions go away, Illinois becomes worse than CA again. (CA doesn’t have the FOAD bullshit.)

        • HENCE the phrase “FOR NOW” boys…the WHOLE NATION may be in for some dark daze…

  6. ” “The cast of “Hamilton” declined to use muskets as props in its Tony Awards performance Sunday night following the mass shooting in Orlando.”

This is how you lose. The enemy is busy murdering your citizens, and you engage in a completely ineffective, pointless protest whose only purpose is to fuel your own sense of smugness and righteousness. Its like hosting a dinner amongst your rich friends to support feeding the hungry.

      • Remember the idiots who were dumping buckets of ice water over their heads? It was to bring “awareness” to something. Do you remember what it was? I don’t.

Oh, look at me – I’m tweeting and making a difference.

        • My pointless ritual was going to the range and slinging a couple boxes downrange and grumbling at how poorly I’ve been shooting these last couple of weeks.

  7. The cast of “Hamilton” ….

Are obviously unaware of history. George Washington and his army didn’t use harsh language or hashtag activism to defeat the British. They used guns.

    • Slightly on, yet off, topic: it’s odd how people are aghast by knife victims being stabbed dozens of times…. That’s how you kill someone with a knife.

It’s not the movies, you have to hold them down and poke then full of holes until they bleed out – it’s slow and brutal.

      Frankly, I’d rather be shot.

  8. Whenever I see them referenced on a gun website, I can’t help but smile at the thought that a Krebs AK would be the rifle of choice in the world of “The Adventures of Pete & Pete”.

  9. ‘If somebody like him had nothing worse to deal with than a Glock pistol…he might have killed three or four people and not 50.”

It’s a Glock, not a Lorcin, stupid, and it’d be hard to ONLY hit 3-4 people shooting aimlessly into a crowd. He had hours, he could have had the same body count with a knife.

“It’s way too easy to kill people in America today and we have to think long and hard about what to do about that.’”

Because we don’t raise men anymore in this country, we raise whatever the hell mashed-potatoes crap you call the cast of “Hamilton”. The problem isn’t guns, it’s the cannon fodder useful idiots.

  10. “…fill out an identification form and pay $8 for a background check”

Wow. Background checks are cheap in Florida. Over 3x that in southern Nevada.

And I first read the title as “It’s shocking easy to BUILD the AR-15…”

Well, that too. It is easy.
