(Groton, CT) The Connecticut Citizens Defense League is speaking out against Governor Malloy’s executive order seizing firearms and denying purchases to individuals who are on Federal Government “lists”.
Comment from CCDL President Scott Wilson:
“Governor Malloy is planning to take what is in our view unconstitutional executive action that would prohibit firearms purchases and seize firearms of individuals who have not been indicted or convicted for any crime. While we are all concerned about terrorism, this approach is very un-American and shameful” . . .
Wilson Added:
“Governor Malloy has gone even further into the deep end than ever before. His planning on denying purchases and likely seizing firearms of individuals are on a list that have not been charged or convicted of any wrongdoing is antithetical to every value that this country was founded on. There are millions of people on these lists, many who are not criminals or terrorists, and do not belong on it”.
“Seizing firearms from individuals would be a clear violation of ‘due process’ under the 14th amendment of our constitution, and i have a hard time envisioning a judge appointed by the state of Connecticut who would issue a warrant to search and seize when the federal Government has not even done so in a wide-spread manner. Even the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has recognized that these lists are inaccurate, unconstitutional, and unfairly target Muslims and people of color.
Since the governor does not have access to these federal “lists”, my hope at this point is the feds will analyze Governor Malloy’s intent and decline access. This is very scary to think that police will be showing up to houses to seize firearms from people who may have done nothing wrong. It spells serious trouble”.
“The governor of Connecticut has pushed the envelope to beyond extreme by treating citizens of the United States in this manner. I hope people realize that this pattern of abuse is how totalitarian governments operate”.

What’s next? If he can ban people on the no fly list by executive order then he or a future governor can ban entire groups of people including minorities such as but not limited to Muslims by executive order.

It is not only shameful and un-American, it is also criminal.
Isn’t the governor of a state required to take an oath to defend the Constitution, or is it only to defend the State’s constitution? Either way, I think it should be mandatory that they actually read the document before taking the oath and pass a test that shows they understand what they are taking an oath to defend.
I truly hope this comes back with really big fangs to bite him in the ass.

All this crap going on makes me want to go out and buy an AR15 just to spite the progressives (AK guy here). I already have a bunch of guns and don’t need any more, but dang!
You should go out and get an AR. You don’t have to be just an AK guy, they are both great guns. Whatever you do though, don’t pay jacked up, panic inflated prices. Around $500-$600 should get you a good basic AR. Or better yet, build one yourself. If you can put together a piece of Ikea furniture, you should be able to build an AR lower, and you can find tons of assembled AR complete uppers out there.
I should go get one. AR15’s are great guns. I’ve shot them, and like them. Also, it is a great time to get one. I’m primarily thinking about the Ruger AR556. It seems like a pretty good gun, and goes for around $600. I’ve seen some other brands locally for even less than $500, but they sometimes lack sights, dust covers, etc. The Ruger is basic, but seems to include everything an AR should have.

This is exactly what I’m doing. If all goes to plan, I’ll have a solid AR-15 carbine for about $425 (not counting tools) plus the invaluable experience of building it myself.
It’s only coincidence that I’m doing it just when the post-San-Berdoo doodoo hits the fan, but appropriately timed nonetheless — as a statement of freedom and civic responsibility, that is. As a practical matter, the post-Berdoo buying surge is making it a lot harder to find parts.

Make no mistake folks this is a war on a certain kind of people as much as it is concern for safety or a dislike of an inanimate object. The truth is that your typical Liberal Anti Gun person has a stereotype in their mind when they think of gun owners. They may possibly have a couple of them but by and large they all share a common quality. A gun owner is a person that does not share in their belief of Statism. This is a war of ideologies.

It ain’t about the guns. It’s about the control, and the stereotypical gun owner is someone they can’t control.
Since the Feds will not even tell litigants in court who are suing for being improperly placed on the list–without a very specific and direct court order so mandating–whether they are even on the list, based on the asserted basis of an interest in national security, the probability that the Feds will give state officials access to such information is essentially nil. The reasoning is that disclosure of such information may tip off the “terrorists” that the government is watching them, such that the terrorists will take steps to avoid such surveillance.
Thus, this is politics more than substance. I guess Malloy plans to run for higher office.
You might want to think that through. Malloy is essentially claiming he has a State right to ban people on a list or lists from owning or possessing guns. Do you not think he will stop short of claiming a State right to create his own list?
This is a very dangerous gambit.

The odd thing is, though, they (the State) never enforced that. So, in a way, it makes little sense for Malloy to be puffing his chest like this to what amounts to the same group that defied him before.
He’s playing a very dangerous game. It is also entirely conceivable that the Progressives are trying to provoke a 2A, “Molon Labe” type into something they can exploit.
I’m still wondering why R.L. Dear and Colorado Springs didn’t get traction. That dropped from the news like a hot potato. They were painting him up as their poster boy, then…crickets.
So, where are they going with this anti-gun stuff after a TERRORIST attack? It seems like every time they get their ideal scapegoat, they drop it. Then, something comes along that the shooter does NOT fit the 2A OFWG profile, and they implement the full court press.

The government just said that they have the right to take away your natural rights without reason or due process. CT subjects have a tough choice to make. Patriot or slave.
Perhaps you have to lose your freedom in order to learn to appreciate it. It will be many years before freedom returns to Connecticut. In the mean time private property will be confiscated. Citizens will be jailed. A harsh tyranny will return from history that was 230 years ago.

I encourage CT subjects to start a petition to rename CT to something other than The Constitution State. At least a symbolic gesture.
I made that suggestion to all of my representatives, the governor, and lt gov in mailed letters after PA 13-3 was passed with a few examples of what we could change it to.

Shockingly I received no responses.
My biggest complaint is government “lists” and losing rights for being on the lists is not something that should happen in this country. Its a very slippery slide down to putting whoever the rulers dislike on them, its exactly how totalitarian states operate.
So whats to stop the government if dear leader gets this threw from waiting for a shooting than putting the entire membership of the NRA on one of these “lists?”
“terrorist” is a very gray word; what happens if one of these mass murdering clowns has an NRA life member card in their pocket? Now is the NRA a terrorist organization? If whoever is in charge says so than it is, no due process, nothing. very totalitarian.
Lastly since a lot of people did register their firearms in CT, now they have a shopping list when they come knocking. With no warrant, just being on a “list”.
I propose we change the name of the police in CT to the KGB. If your going to act like jack booted thugs at least don’t hide behind a layer of BS.
Let’s see. 1. How many state troopers/police are in CT? 2. How many armed citizens are there in CT? 3. Sounds like a basic math problem.
Will love to see how this stands up in a court since there is no way to know how one gets on the list and there is no known way to get off the list.
