From CMMG:

CMMG is proud to announce the addition of Hornady’s 6mm ARC (Advanced Rifle Cartridge) to the RESOLUTE and ENDEAVOR families of rifles. Designed and engineered for accuracy and performance in the versatile AR-15 platform, the 6mm ARC’s ballistic performance makes it ideal for precision shooting, hunting, military/law enforcement and recreational shooting.

The Hornady 6mm ARC is a short-action cartridge designed to push the limits. Based on the 6.5 Grendel cartridge case, the 6mm ARC was designed to achieve comparable ballistics to the AR10 308 WIN, all while operating in a 30% lighter system.

For shooters and hunters who need to reach further distances, the 6mm ARC will be available in 108gr ELD Match (match ammo), delivering a muzzle velocity of 2750 fps and the 103gr ELD-X (precision hunter ammo) with 2800 fps. Less felt recoil provides both shooters and hunters the ability to stay on target after making the shot and the potential for quicker follow-up shots with the AR-15.

CMMG RESOLUTE and ENDEAVOR 100, 200 and 300 Series come with a rifle-length gas system on both the 16” RESOLUTE barrel and 20” ENDEAVOR barrel. This allows for the rifles to have less felt recoil and lower extraction force, reducing wear and tear.

RESOLUTE rifles will have a MSRP ranging from $1,049.95 to $1,649.95 (series pending) and the ENDEAVOR rifles with a MSRP ranging from $1,049.95 to $1,799.95 (series pending). CMMG 6mm ARC rifles will be available from CMMG’s website, stocking dealers, qualified retailer stores and their websites.

Both the RESOLUTE and ENDEAVOR rifles ship with one 10-round detachable box magazine.

  1. HEY GUN LOVER, I’M BILLY MAYS AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU POSITIVELY NEED? THAT’S RIGHT, ANOTHER NEW CARTRIDGE FOR YOUR AR-15 PLATFORM! IF .30 REMINGTON AR, 6.8mm SPC, 6.5mm GRENDAL, .458 SOCOM, .300 BLACKOUT, 6.5mm CREEDMORE, .224 VALKYRIE, AND .350 LEGEND JUST WEREN’T ENOUGH FOR YOU THEN LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO THE NEWEST AND THEREFORE BESTEST AR CHAMBERING AROUND, THE 6mm ARC!

  2. It is all interesting reading but the price places the possibility of trying these new cartridges well beyond the reach of most of us.

And shipping with only a ten round magazine? The standard AR-15 magazine is 30 rounds, always (in the longer action AR-10 the standard is 20). There is nothing wrong with including a second magazine of low capacity for specific applications. Such as states with screwed up laws. Or, as an example, I have one 5 round magazine for sighting-in or training a young or first time shooter. Once the basics are clearly learned, that sub-standard magazine is set aside and standard capacity magazines are provided to practice at various target distances.

But standard, normal capacity is not a measley ten rounds.

    • Yeah! Take that!

And also … “Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.”!

And you can quote me on that!

      🙂

  3. I’m going to stick with my 6.5 Grendel for now. We’ll see if this is still around by the time I burn out my barrel. Might be awhile.

  4. I’ll buy a new cartridge AFTER the military adopts it. Not before. I like Military calibers for ammunition commonality.

    • Silent, well said! The most oddball caliber I own is 7X57 Mauser in a Ruger #1. If I can’t buy ammo for it in an Italian restaurant I’m not interested. (Don’t laugh. A friend owns an Italian restaurant. Last time I was there you could buy mil sup 7.62 NATO, 7.62X39, H&K 91 mags and custom order firearms. Among other things.) The Italiano sandwich or pizza are my favorites. I always ask Bob to add a little fresh spinach to the sandwich.

      • holy damn dogs balls.
        i love lamp.
why does this make me think of the pizza boxes with the targets printed on them?

  5. Over a grand for what is essentially a marketing push for what amounts to yet another wildcat.

Maybe it catches on, maybe not. I won’t be an early adopter either way unless some patron decends form on high and hands it to me to try out free of charge.

  6. 6mm ARC – What is the purpose??? Explain what the purpose is, and it could make sense. If the 6mm ARC is a Deer/Varmint cartridge – OK. If the intent is a better defensive cartridge – OK. As example, the 6mm Remington is a “better” Deer/Varmint cartridge than the .243, but because of not understanding what the 6mm Remington was, it is now obsolete. One hopes that HORNADY folks are smarter than the folks that were at Remington when the 6mm/.244 cartridge mess occurred.

A modern 6mm Remington type cartridge, updated to run in an AR-15 platform, could replace the .243 for younger shooters. Also – Like the idea of a 108 grain bullet. HOG Gun???

    • I would say with all the offerings being heavy weight they probably missed out on the varmit market somewhat. You could probably still make a 55 grain bullet go more towards 3500fps than not based on the numbers they give for the heavier stuff.

6mm rem vs the 243 win is simple:Remington screwed up by using a 1:12 barrel twist when it was the 244. By the time that they had rebranded and gotten heavier bullets for it incumbency already did the deed.

I think the 243 win is long in the tooth right now but that’s because it really needs a 1:8 twist instead of the common 1:10 and more modern common offerings than the 100gr bullet that everyone makes. I enjoy my AR10 in 243 win though.

    • How far do you plan on shooting hogs?
You can get 300 blackout in 110 grain hog loads good to 125 yards.

  7. Based on 6.5 Grendel. That one really took off too. At least Grendel is made by Wolf and somewhat affordable to plink with. Think I’ll just get an AR-10 in 6.5 PRC if want to piss away some more money on a new miracle chambering.
