Emanuel said he would await Corporation Counsel Stephen Patton’s recommendation before deciding which way to go. But the mayor said he is determined to preserve the ordinance one way or another.
“The reason we have gun laws — the reason I’m trying to also pass tougher gun laws down in Springfield — is because it’s an essential complement to your overall crime strategy,” Emanuel said at an unrelated news conference.
“And we will adjust. I’m waiting for Steve’s comments, but we will do whatever we need to do to continue to pursue getting guns off our streets and out of the hands of gang-bangers and drug dealers.”
Except, I dunno, increasing the detection, arrest and conviction rates for said miscreants. Or, for that matter, allowing their potential victims to arm themselves—as is their Constitutionally-protected right—in some kind of weird ass deterrent deal.
Apparently, Rahm’s crime fighting strategy also involves getting rid of kids. Or warehousing them. Or something.

The last time I was forced to visit Chicago was a few weeks ago. According to what I heard (holding my nose does not affect my hearing) there is growing interest in ousting him from office over the high crime and murder rate there.
It’s too bad he and others like him who have made a living denying our rights and ruining this country will die rich and comfortable when they deserve much different fates.
The people of Chicago need to run that “ousting” idea past the local democratic machine first, they have other ideas.
Unfortuately Rahm is going no where fast, the chicago political machine is too strong. I am so sick of my rights being infringed upon in this state. I am trained and ready to CC but I am simply not allowed. I have a family with young children to protect, but I face major charges if I choose to carry and brake the law. I wish moving was an option, but it is not. There are several representatives who are fighting to get concealed carry laws passes, but I believe that the only way it will happen is if the courts rule Illinois’ laws unconstitutional.

It appears that the good people of Illinois are afflicted with the insanity of Chicago in much the same way New Yorkers are with NYC, or Californians with LA and San Francisco. In fact, there are probably many states where the stupidity of machine politics in a major city screws up not only that city, but the rest of the state as well.
That’s true about CA and NY, but more so in Illinois. Without the Chicago area and Madison county (East St. Louis), Illinois is a solid red state.
It’s close to that in NJ as well. We have a big chunk of Megopolis, from all of Hudson County, across to the Newark area, and on down from Edison to Trenton, and Camden, that is all traditionally Dem controlled urban area.
The saner people are more influential in the Northwest and South areas of the state.
This guy does have clue what to do safe Chicago from crime . Other than make harder for people there protech them self from crime.
